"If we turn our heads and look away and hope that it will all disappear then they will - all of them, an entire generation of people. And we will have only history left to judge us."

JK Rowling's Handprints on Display in Edinburgh, Scotland
Posted By Kathleen on 02-14-09 @ 9:17 AM - 6 comments | Link
JK Rowling's handprints have been set in Caithness stone and can be viewed in the quadrangle of Edinburgh's City Chambers. Rowling was honored last year as the 2008 Edinburgh Award, which was established in 2007 to "recognise an individual's outstanding achievements and contribution to the city of Edinburgh". It is well known that Rowling wrote much of Harry Potter, supposedly on cafe napkins, in Edinburgh.
Ms. Rowling had this to say about her immortalized handprints: "I think it is particularly appropriate for a writer's hands to be represented, so I am deeply honoured to have my keyboard-chipped fingernails, not to mention my pen-induced friction callous, commemorated in the place where I produced Harry Potter."
Additional information about how the handprints were made and the 2009 Edinburgh Award nominees can be read at Edinburgh.com

The Mail published this weekend a new interview with Emma Watson, where she spoke about fame, coming of age, and the future of her acting career.
After Hermione, I didn’t know whether there was anything else... Ballet Shoes was a small production, but it gave me the confidence to think I could actually have a career as an actress after the Harry Potter films...
When asked about fame she explained that she does not feel like a celebrity:
I don’t fit that mould. I worry that people have expectations of me being someone I’m not. I’m just finding myself and trying to live as normally as possible and be as normal as possible... ‘Daniel, Rupert and me have been incredibly protected doing the Harry Potter movies... We all share the same view. None of us court celebrity, none of us want to be part of the game.
The complete interview including a new photoshoot is available at The Mail.
"Fine, I'll try and teach him again!" Snape snarled at Professor Dumbledore.
"Severus, please, for me, don't take all those old wounds that you gained from James out on Harry. Harry is not James - do not blame him for what happened." Dumbledore spoke quietly, but his blue eyes held a warning. Snape sighed in frustration...
