Book 4:
Excerpts
He held up the envelope in which Mrs. Weasley's letter had
come, and Harry had to fight to hold down a laugh. Every bit of it was covered
in stamps except for a square inch on the front, into which Mrs. Weasley had
squeezed the Dursleys' address in minute writing.
"Don't talk to me," Ron said...
"Why not?" said Hermione in surprise.
"Because I want to fix that in my memory forever," said Ron, his eyes closed and
an uplifted expression on his face. "Draco Malfoy, the amazing bouncing
ferret..."
"CONSTANT VIGILANCE!"
--Mad Eye Moody
Dumbldedore reached out a long hand and seized the parchment. He held it out
and stared at the name written upon it...And then Dumbledore cleared his throat
and read out- "Harry Potter."
"Don't call him Vicky!"
--Ron
"Worrying about poor 'ickle goblins, now, are you?" Ron asked Hermione.
"Thinking of starting up S.P.U.G. or something? Society for the Protection of
ugly Goblins?
From far away, above his head, he heard a high, cold voice say, "Kill the
spare."
A swishing noise and a second voice, which screeched the words to the night: "Avada
Kedavra!"
"If your determination to shut your eyes will carry you as far as this,
Cornelius, we have reached a parting of the ways. You must act as you see fit.
And I- I shall act as I see fit."
--Dumbledore
"Mum found this stack of order forms when she was cleaning Fred and George's
room," said Ron quietly. "Great long price lists for stuff they've invented. Joke
stuff, you know. Fake wands and trick sweets, loads of stuff. It was brilliant, I
never knew they'd been inventing all that . . ."
--Chapter Five: Weasley's Wizard Wheezes
It happened immediately: Harry felt as though a hook just behind his navel had
been suddenly jerked irresistibly forward. His feet left the ground; he could feel
Ron and Hermione on either side of him, their shoulders banging into his; they
were all speeding forward in a howl of wind and swirling color; his forefinger was
stuck to the boot as though it was pulling him magnetically onward...
--Chapter Six: The Portkey
"We all know Professor Moody considers the morning wasted if he hasn't
discovered six plots to murder him before lunchtime," said Karkaroff loudly.
"Apparently he is now teaching his students to fear assassination too. An odd
quality in a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Dumbledore, but no doubt you
had your reasons.
--Chapter Thirteen: Mad-Eye Moody
"Severus, please fetch me the strongest Truth Potion you possess, and then go
down to the kitchens and bring up the house-elf called Winky"...Snape handed Dumbledore a small glass bottle of completely clear liquid: the Veritaserum with which he had threatened Harry in class.
