1984 - Chapter 07: Postfly | | Author: | Daniels_Girl | | Genre: | General | | Rating: | G | | Score: | 4.57143 | | Story: | “Harry, Harry wake up.” He flashed his eyes open to see Ginny in his dormitory, leaning over his bed. He flinched a bit at the site. “Ginny, you scared me. What?” “We have to go to class today. Come on.” Harry lazily got out of bed, did a stretched and yawned. Ginny was going through his clothes and throwing them on his bed as she got the ones she wanted. “Get dressed,” she said in a mother like tone. Harry gave one more yawn and set out to dress himself. Harry and Ginny sat together at breakfast. “So, we can’t act like a couple, can we?” Ginny asked with a slight frown on her face. “Doesn’t seem so, at least not in public,” he said with a grin. He then took hold of her hand under the table, and they continued their breakfast. “What classes do you have today?” Ginny asked. Harry pulled his schedule out from his robe and read the words out loud. “I have…Double Potions with Slughorn, and Defence against the Dark Arts with Battleway. You?” Ginny, having memorized her schedule, didn’t retrieve a piece of paper and simply recalled it from the top of her head. “Herbology with Akfeild, and History of Magic with Binns. I bet he’s just as boring as he always is.” she said with a dull voice and an exasperated look on her face. When the bell sounded for first period, Ginny and Harry said their good lucks and good byes and headed their separate ways. Ginny took a deep breath and started towards the History of Magic classroom. “Good morning, sunshine.” A voice said behind her. She turned to see James smiling at her. Despite the fact that she was nervous, she gave an astonishingly beautiful smile. “Hello, how are you this morning?” “Couldn’t be better. What class are you off to?” he asked as they continued down the corridor. “History of Magic,” she said, rolling her eyes but still smiling. “Oh yeah, Binnsy. Can be quite a character, that guy.” “If character you mean dull.” They both had a laugh at that. “Well alright, I’ll see you later.” He gave her a cute smile and she continued on her way. ‘What a cute smile… ’ she caught herself thinking. She then snapped out of it, scared of where it could go if she continued. She got into class and sat down at a desk tucked in the corner, near an open window. “Hello, may I sit here?” A short, dark haired, deep blue eyed girl stood before Ginny. Ginny looked up, surprised, “Oh yes, yes of course you can,” she said, pulling her belongings closer to her. “Hi, my name’s Hesta.” “I’m Ginny, nice to meet you.” she said, giving a comforting smile. They shook hands and at that moment Professor Binns floated into the classroom through the chalkboard. “Here we go; another boring class that we’ll learn absolutely nothing in.” Hesta said, putting her head down on her desk. Ginny laughed. She then decided to stare out the window, letting her thoughts wander. She started daydreaming about Harry and the time they’d spend together after class. But her thoughts slowly transformed into James, giving her that melting smile. She then got a worried look on her face and looked around as if she had expected someone to have seen what she saw in her head. ‘I can’t like him. I can’t. It’s not possible.’ There was a tapping on her shoulder and she looked into the deep blue eyes of Hesta, who was prodding her. Hesta then pointed up. There above Ginny’s head was an origami butterfly. She reached up and grasped it firmly in her hand. She brought it down and opened it with anxiety. It was a note and there was a picture of a golden snitch flying all around the parchment. With little less than neat writing it read:
Good morning Sunshine. Thanks for telling me what class you had. I was wondering if you’d meet me for lunch. Love: James.
‘Oh no,’ Ginny thought to herself. ‘I can’t like him!’ She gave Hesta a nervous look and handed over the flattened butterfly. Hesta took it and read it through twice. She mouthed the words, “James Potter?” Ginny nodded. Hesta’s eyes widened. She then spread a great grin across her face. She leaned in closer to Ginny. “You’re serious, you mean James Potter.” “Yes, it’s James Potter. Why? What’s so bad about that?” “Are you kidding? He’s only like the hottest guy in school. Definitely Lick Worthy.” Because of the concerned and confused look upon Ginny’s face, Hesta explained herself. “I made it up. If someone can be licked because they’re so gorgeous, then they’re lick worthy. In this case, definitely lick worthy.” Ginny gave a nod of understanding and laughed slightly at the ludicrous thought of licking anyone. But nevertheless, she loved the idea. “So, what do I do?” Ginny whispered back. “Write back to him and tell him yes!” “Do you think I really should? Or should I play hard to get?” she said, with her last remark in remembrance of Harry. She couldn’t help but smile inside. “Write him a note.” Hesta said, with a grin on her face. Ginny grinned back. “Okay.” She wrote on the same piece of parchment that James had sent her, saying:
Yes, I will meet you for lunch. Twelve sharp at the Entrance Hall. See you then. Love: Ginny.
She gave the parchment a sharp jab with her wand, and it burst into flames before her eyes. She and Hesta jumped back a bit. Ginny looked up to see that Binns had not even looked up from the textbook he was reading from, though the rest of the class had turned to the source of the noise. Ginny pulled out a spare bit of parchment and started writing furiously on it.
Dear Harry, I told James that I would meet him at exactly twelve this afternoon. He wants to eat lunch. Let’s meet in ten minutes at the Entrance Hall and skip the rest of class. I’ll see you then. Love you lots. Love: Ginny.
She then wrapped it up as a paper aeroplane and blew it out the door. She turned to Hesta, gave a wink, and was out the classroom door without Binns ever knowing.
