1984 - Chapter 10: Knowledgeable Moon | | Author: | Daniels_Girl | | Genre: | General | | Rating: | G | | Score: | 4.57143 | | Story: | Harry woke the next morning and had a full understanding of the well chosen words and pitying smile from Dumbledore the previous night. Every bone in his body ached. His muscles were burning and he felt nauseous. When he sat up his head started spinning. He hit his head back onto his pillow and groaned. Harry heard a chuckle. He didn’t bother to open his eyes, for he already knew it was Sirius. “Feeling good Harry?” Sirius laughed. “Shut up.” Harry managed to say. Sirius started rummaging through his trunk browsing for the outfit for the day, all the while snickering to himself. “You never told me I’d feel like this.” “All the more fun . . .” Sirius said, gazing at Harry with slight delight. “This isn’t fun.” Harry said trying to sit erect once again. “For me.” Sirius finished his previous statement. Harry was now sitting with his head hung low in his hands, and his feet dangling off the four-poster. “Well don’t pout for too long.” He said, and with his one last exhale of laughter, Sirius exited the room. Once alone in the room, Harry pulled in a deep shuddering breath, then made his head repeat the spinning sensation. He slowly slipped into his school robes and collected the necessary items for his first class. He descended the stairs that emerged into the Gryffindor common room. When he entered, there sat Ginny awaiting his arrival. “Harry, are you alright?” asked Ginny in a concerned tone. In response to the question aimed at him, he nodded. Ginny was obviously unconvinced with his nod, because she asked once again if he was okay. Harry indeed did not look physically well; he noticed this when he got the chance to look into the eyes of his own reflection. His face was pasty white, and his scar was clearly visible against his ghost-like skin. At the sight of his run-down image, Harry gave a disgusted “ugh”. “Well, if you’re sure you’re fine, we have classes to attend.” Once again Harry let out a disgusted ““ugh””. Ginny grabbed him by the hand and led him out into the sunlit corridors of Hogwarts. With every step Harry took, he felt as though he were violently being stuck by a hammer. He tried to brush it off by thinking of the soft petite hand that encased with his own. But he soon had to drop that thought for the fact that Lily had walked up to say good morning to the couple. “How are you this morning?” Lily asked with a generous tone. “Great,” Harry answered feebly, letting go of Ginny’s hand. “How are you?” She answered with a high hearted “good”, and turned to walk with Harry and Ginny to the Great Hall. When they entered, Harry spotted James, and quickly seated himself beside him; thus making Ginny and Lily sit across from him. James leaned in a bit towards Harry and posed a question. “How are you feeling?” the look in his eyes had a devious smirk to them. “Oh, just spectacular.” Harry answered sarcastically. “Don’t worry; it happened to all of us. The only difference is that it didn’t happen until we changed into our own Animagi…You got it a lot quicker than we did.” “How long will I feel like this?” “ Usually, only for about a day or two. Depends on the person,” he then leaned in even closer, “Wormtail was sick for about two weeks, but we suspect he faked it to get out of exams.” Harry was now forking random things onto his plate. Just as he was about to shovel some food into his mouth, he felt a swift kick hit him in the leg. He scrunched his expression into confusion. When he looked under the table, he saw Ginny’s leg retracting from where he’d just felt the jab in his leg. He looked up at Ginny and she gave a simple smile, and put her finger to her lips in a ‘shh’ motion. She then gave a nervous glance towards James. When she was sure his attention was else where, she mouthed the words, “I love you,” to Harry. Harry smiled and said, “I love you too.” He gave a small wink, and then quickly changed his gaze to Lily, who was stirring her food around on her plate. “So Lily, I was wondering if you could help me with my homework today.” Lily smiled, “Sure I can, Harry.” Within minutes Harry was carrying himself up the marble stair cases, and into the boys’ washroom, hoping to cease the pain that was found within his forehead. He wet his face to stop it from burning. His scar was searing, and because Voldemort was no where near, Harry suspected it was to do with how he was feeling. “Harry Potter.” Harry stopped with his face buried in his hands, nearly drowning himself because of the water that was cupped into his palms. “The scar hurts, doesn’t it?” Harry looked into the mirror and saw the reflection of Remus Lupin. Harry turned around to look at him. No words would come out of his mouth. He was completely befuddled. It was as though Harry had forgotten how to talk. Remus now walked around Harry to the sink. “You should be more careful of what you do in public, you know.” He turned on the tap casually. “If I could catch all the signs you send each other, anyone can.” Harry had a firm grasp on his bag, and was trying to comprehend all the information he had just received. “Yes Harry, I know all about your plan to get James and Lily together. You’re parents.” Harry’s jaw dropped slightly. Finally after much consideration, and thought towards his words, Harry spoke. “How long……How long have you known?” “Since the beginning, Dumbledore asked if I could watch over you. Make sure you kept on track.” By now he was drying his hands on the nearest towel. “So far, you’ve been doing quite well. But more rash actions like breakfast and you’ll have a great price to pay.” Then, Harry, raking his brain for an answer, was finally fed one. “What if that’s what we want?” Lupin looked curious. Then Harry continued. “What if, we plan it out so that mum and da-” he paused. “James and Lily find out about me and Ginny? They’ll be heart broken and realize that they need each other.” Remus clearly thinking things thoroughly through, smacked a smile across his face. “You know, that just might work.”
