Yep, Nick, I think it'll be Brazil - but I am too horrendously underqualified to have a opinion that counts. I'm actually rooting for either England, Germany or the Netherlands. Those are the three European countries I have some kind of bond with. I always tend to shout for them when South Africa isn't playing (whatever sport)...

Now, before I start, I must say that I have little knownledge when it comes to soccer. To be honest, I had to search online a couple of weeks ago when I wanted to see how the USA looked. Okay, I believe that Brazil will win becuase they obviously have the most talent; almost everyone agrees on that one. Personally, I'll be rooting for none other the US, even though we not that great in the sport. I have to cheer for my country's team! Honestly, I think that England, Argentina, the Czech Republic, and Germany can make things a little interesting (if they weren't already). I know that home-field advantage will really help the Germans, and the English haven't won the cup for quite a few years. I'm looking forward to watching the games and hope that nothing bad happens at these games.

Go Australia! We qualified but it is going to be really hard if we play Brazil. They are a excellent team who stand an amazing chance this time round. Tonight, Australia is playing Greece in a friendly but I really hope Australia winthis too.
I know a bit about soccor since my brother has played for four years and my ex-boyfriend used to play until he went to NRL.
I'm all in for England and The Netherlands! I'm American, though, when it comes to soccer, I'm Brittish. Odd, huh. To be honest, I agree completely with Jimmy Jaguar. USA is not exceptionally great when it comes 'those darn sports'. They can pull it off if they're really in a rut, but that's almost a joke.
I think that a great match between the teams will be between Brazil and Germany. (That goes for England as well). They're both great teams, and it's always a blast to watch intriguing games.
Laurette the South Africa team is also on my list. (To bad they're not in...) I have a close friend who's South African, and - what a coincidence - he's obsessed with football (soccer). I root for them as well.
Woot! Well there you have it. My fanatic-tism (that's not a word is it... ) with the International Sport.

4.) Tunisia 3.) Ukraine 2.) Poland 1.) France
Poland and Ukraine! I'm awesome! Anyhow i doubt any of 'em will win, but i'm still rooting for an all eastern european final! Come on Serbia and Montenegro!
Ohhh...we could have VTM online sweepstakes!
I get Poland!

This is really funny to read that more of you guys think that germany will win than we Germans. At least I don't think of our team as good enough, because the players are much too young. As I think that Brazil will unfortunately win (although they have the problem that they are good single players, but I don't hink they are really good as a team), I hope for the Republic of Korea to get into final. I like them since 2002!

I actually think Germany will win. Its a good thing the players are young becausethe have better condition. I love Germany and I hope they win! And they will have the support of the country, and it is always easier to play in your own country than in another one. I love Ballack, the player of course, he is sooo cute. (lol, that was off topic but I just had to say it). I believe Brazil will get to the finals, they have really strong players like Ronaldinho and Kaka, and they´re team work ability is extraordinary (has any of you seen the Joga Bonito clips), they will probably get to the finals. I just hope they dont win, I dont know why I just much rather see Germany win than Brazil. But Brazil has Ronaldinho, who is my favourite player, (have you seen the way he plays on Barca? He is awsome!!), umm I dont know. Still I hope Germany takes the cup home this cup!!

Argentina!!!!! im scared in 2002 we were the team that was going to win and we didnt pass the 1st round. this year is different. no one knows what to expect from us, here we live the "soccer" (we called it futbol) all the time all the day, since a month ago theres nothing else to talk, all the tv has special shows about it, even the comercials has something to do with futbol, so were a 100% living the cup. i hope we didnt finish like in 2002, and i dont agree with some of the players that the coach called to be part of the team, but i still wish wemakea good part(is not gonna be so hard...).i think Messi is going to be important for us, and if we didnt make it, brasil is always a leader, and also germany cause theyre locals. yes i love futbol and im a girl and im really happy because of this cup!!!! just cant wait anymore!!!

To Ginny and all the others: Thanks for supporting us (Germany)! Only 8 days left... Everybody's counting the days for the championship to start. Really funny to see in TV, everytime a show is about soccer, right under the sign of a channel, you see the countdown. Some are even showing how many hours, minutes and seconds are left... Question: Is it the same in your countries? I mean is everybody waiting for the soccer cup to start? I guess it's not as much as it is here...

Well i would have be supporting Scotland if they actually qualified so i am going to support.... Trinidad and Tobago! Now you're probably wondering why and it's because Trinidad and Tobago have a Scottish player so i hope they do well. Well in answer to your to question DoubleD up here in a Scotland we're not that bothered about the world cup. We would be if Scotland qualified though. We're just all getting behind Trinidad. Actually even though we didn't qualify we're still releasing a world cup song supporting Scottish football and cheering on Trinidad.
Do any other countries have World Cup songs? What are the like?

We have *too* many world cup soccer songs, the most of them are hilarious and don't make sense at all. The one I love most is "Wir sind die Hollanders" The song's a combination of the German and Dutch language.

Definitely! Everything is already colored orange for over a month now. Soccer stuff everywhere, you can't turn a street corner without being strangled by a row of low hanging flags, tv commercials that drive you nuts, World Cup merchandise. The most ridiculous thing I came across was orange colored cauliflower, it's supposed to be an healty snack while watching the World Cup.
Oh and I've made up my mind! I'm also supporting the Australian team (they've got our Hiddink as coach).

Embrace are doing Englands World cup song...it's pitiful...I really hope England go out in the group stages, no offence, but i just can't stand all the hype surrounding the team, and the 'It's our year this time' talk, which happens every world cup i can remember, which is two.... Anyhow i'll be supporting Poland all the way, and if we come second in our group, which is likely, then we are likely to face England...i can see another Zurawski hatrick!
