Yay!! It's our 4th thread for SPELL!
New to SPELL? First Welcome to LupinLand! What are us crazy cats going on about? 1) SPELL stands for Society for the Prevention of [JKR] Ending Lupin's Life
2) Our Official tagline : Where werewolves are people too
3) Official Lupin Day : November 1st (though the celebrations are likely to last all week)
4) We have 4 affliates: ** S.O.S. (Squash Old Snape / Save Our Snape) - for or anti, whichever takes your fancy ** In Sirious Denial Support Group - for Lupin's best mate, Sirius!! ** C.U.B. (Crush Umbridge Brigade) - because she made dear Remus' life so difficult ** M.O.O.O.P. (Muggles Of the Order Of the Phoenix) - For the dedication to all of those valiant order members. The 'silver' rules Number One: While the star of the show is David/Remus here at Lupinland, members are also allowed to talk about the rest of the Marauders and Snape as well as Umbridge. But they must never steal the lime light of course. That belongs to Remus Number Two The mention of the "D" word is forbidden here at SPELL, unless in reference to Umbridge or Snape, or Peter as well I guess. We want Remus' life to be happy from now on and this President won't go thinking nasty horrid things that may be lurking round the corner.
Number Three As mentioned above it's cool to talk about the marauders but not at great length. If you want to talk about them there are other topics/clubs to do so in (Just check the master list )
The Team
President : Lil' old me. Ygraine(Helen) Honorary Member : Louise Design Manager : zyra123 Welcome Committee : HP_RULES! (Chelsea) NoticeBoard Maintenance : Ygraine Secretary / Fanfic Personnel:ahorsofadifcolor (Katrina)
SPELL Noticeboard! Yeah, we have one, check it out, it's all cool and funky and in a bad need of an update that i will get around to do one day!
And one last thing. The SPELL badge made by Zyra for to put in siggies if any of you want to
---------------------------
Now, in our last thread we were talking about whether or not we thought that Lupin and Umbridge would have a confrontation. The last page of conversation is Here. Continue and enjoy!

Oh, marvelous happy day! The new SPELL thread is up. (The stupid cat is doggedly trying to lick my fingers as I type this. . . what a strange, strange creature. . .) Anyways, thanks, Helen, for setting it up! (Now, on with your fanfic! <ahem>)
So, about the Lupin/Umbridge thing. You know, he was pretty darned livid in the Shrieking Shack, wasn't he? I need to get my book. . .but I didn't remember him being so outwardly violent until I went back and read it looking for something about Sirius, then I saw Remus and thought, "dang. . .that boy has some pent up anger, for sure!" Anyways . . . I think we've seen it. However, I don't think that he would react to Umbridge that way. I know she's viscious and maliscous and vile, but her attacks on him are never personally directed, you know? They're against werewolves in general, whereas Peter's attack was the most personal. He caused the deaths of his best friends. I think he'd be heated in an argument with her, sort of. He's kind of resigned himself to his lot in life. He's bowing out gracefully at the end of the third book because he knows it will do no good to stand up for himself as a person when all people will see is a werewolf.
That was one strange paragraph. . .
My official stance is no. I don't think there will be a confrontation between Remus and Umbridge. I am hoping against hope that Umbridge won't make more than a mention as it is!

Yeah..... shiny new thread glad to be a part of it... I dont see Lupin getting angry enough to harm Umbridge. I just dont see someone like Umbridge making him upsest about who he is. He has a cool intellect and I admire the fact that he is not swayed by the baser things someone lesser may be provocked by, like Passerby said and she makes a good point...

Umbridge will never see past the fact that Lupin is only a warewolf when there is a full moon, which is what one night of the month?... makeing him more a human than warewolf....IMHO...I hope if she does come up in DH that it is a short visit and I really hope she gets...what did Uncle Vernon call it?... oh yes... the old one two...LOL

that is a very good point passerby. it is a shame though... that people see him that way and don't see who he really is because he's only a werewolf for atiny part of the month and that is not who he really is, is it?? i hate when people judge others by one event or matter... i mean yeah Lupin might be fictional and everything but it goes on in the real world anyways.
i guess i hope Umbridge doesn't get in the way on the next book but J.K has said she is in it, hasn't she?? well anyways let's hope they don't cross each path at all because she will probably hurl some verbal rubbush about him and he would just what?? stand there and take it? *shruggs shoulders* to be honest, i would do that. just stand there and take it. i do that anyways.

I promise to do better in this thread, I really do! Congrats SPELL for making it to Thread Four! Yay!
Lupin has been dealing with people only seeing him as a werewolf for pretty much his entire life, so, of course, when people like Umbridge come along it doesn't phase him as much as it used to. I can only imagine what he did when he was younger and got taunted by other people, it's hard to imagine but I think that would have been his only violent stage in life. Then he would have had to realize that when he reacted violently, that was how people wanted him to react and it just gave them more of a reason to make fun of him. Now he reacts how he does because of life lessons. Which is a very good choice because if he reacted violently toward Umbridge, I don't even want to imagine what she would do to him.
I really don't think Umbridge will have much of a role in Deathly Hallows, and certainly not much of a chance to hurt Lupin any more. I think her time has past, but you never know.

Lupin probably wouldn't do much to her because he has gotten used to it. Which by the way is terrible. He would have gotten teased a lot in his young life but i don't think he got violent. That kind of contradicts my other comment but oh well
Unfortunately, if anyone, espcially someone who is part werewolf like Lupin, even yelled at Umbridge there would be severe consequences, she would probably make it sound like he got mad because of the werewolf in him and get like all people who are part werewolf to have like a sign or badge saying that they are and not be allowed in resteraunts and such.
Umbridge also probably won't even be in DH. Wow, I agreed with everything you said Hilly!
P.S. YAY!!!!!!!!! NEW THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New threadness!!!
Well, I think they'll meet. Even just briefly. I don't know why, but I think it'd kust be a waste for JKR to re-introduce Half-Breed Hater Extraordinaire without a little confrontation with an actual Half-Breed (ugh, that is such a horrible term!). Umbridge met Firenze--briefly--and that was fun. Well, it showed her up anyway.

No, no...I'm pretty sure Jk said she'd make a re-appearence, Cobra and Hilly. And if she's re-appearing, then her role won't be necessarily major, but it won't be all that minor, in my opinion.
Farewell! (I saw Black beauty yesterday!!! Only because david's in it, but all the same! *sniff* Poor Jerry...)
I just had a rather nasty thought. Y'know how Lupin wouldn't have Tonks beause he's 'too dangerous' and, I don't know, would bite her or something?...
Baz that got me thinking. It also created a possible, however unlikely and whacked theory, but its possible. What if Tonks got herself bit or took a potion (if possible) to get herself half-werewolf so that Lupin would be with her and not too dangerous?
Personally I dont think it would happen but how about you guys?

...What if Lupin DID bite Tonks? Ga!
well i have always had little sort-of stroies about that run through my head. so erm...
i think as much as Lupin would hate it Tonks wouldn't sort-of mind as much. it's just she doesn't care at all that he is a werewolf and she wants to be with him. i'm guessing if he did bite her then she would try and convince him that it was all ok and that she didn't hate him for what he had done because she knows he can't control it. so i guess she would see it as not so much a curse but more of a "thing" that shows how much she loves him for who he is and it shows how much she doesn't care about what he might be once a month. i can't see her going off into the sunset, waiting for moon to show and get bit but i guess...well in a dream she followed Lupin and watched as he transformed and then he saw her...he bite her... she didn't seem to care.... i have no idea...

What a horrible thought ...I think Lupin takes the wolfsbane potion so he can be managed when there is a full moon or something like that, Im not sure how it works. I dont think she could talk him into it either...Tonks might be able to postion herself but it would have to be very well thought out, I dont think she would get away with just showing up to let him bite her...It is a very romantic idea though Im hoping he just comes to his senses at Bill and Flures wedding though, thats what Id put my money on. That is what this series is all about, Love being the most powerfull weapon we possess, not only Harry but all of us, to defeat evil.

well now that you mention it, Lupin probably will except Tonks' trust in him and be together. After seeing that Bill and Fleur can do it. About love being the most powerful weapon, I don't think so. How is Tom so powerful if love, the one thing he doesn't have is the most powerful weapon?
That was actually a good question or it could be just my biased because I hate love.

Um, I think we're all getting a little off topic here, talking about the in's and outs of the prophecy. There are other threads you can discuss that in if you want to, and also how Harry's meant to defeat LV with the power of Love. (No i don't mean the song )
The topic we're currently conversing is if Tonks chose to become a half/werewolf by choice so she wouldn't be vunerable around Remus.
However, as this seems to be creating sparks i think i'll redirect it if no one minds
In GOF (well at the beginning of anyway) it says that Sirius was in a foriegn country (indecated at least) do you think that Remus went out to join him? Or do you think it may have been the other way round? Or do you not think they met up at all?
Also, tied in I guess. Do you think that Remus has travlled any where in his years? If so, where do you think he went? Or what his favourite country may be?

I think that they didnt meet up at all or i think Sirius would have mentioned it to Harry.

Well im sure he travelled a lot with his sitchuation(sp)/werewolf. He was probably like everywhere in europe. I think his favourite place would be Germany because I like Germany.

I would like to think that since they were friends again, that maybe Remus took the time to get some fun in the sun and get reaquanted with Sirius, after all the persucution in Remus' life and after 12 years in azkaban in Siruis' case, it would have been nice for both of them. I hope they spent some time in Burmuda or the Medditeranian(sp?) that would have been great.
Im not sure Remus travels, does he have money to travel? I think it is mentioned in the books that he has an extremly hard time finding a job because of his furry little problem? If he did have a favorite place it would have to be warm and bright, I would think he would very much dislike anywere too dark and gloomy. Im not to familiar with Europe but I still like the idea of the Medditeranian(sp?)
