I'm huge big, crazy about choir, drama and BROADWAY! I memorize songs after watching a movie the first time.... I know, weird, but oh well. I am a Soprano 1 in my choir at school, so if you're in choir, tell me about it cos it rules and it will help me keep in mind what kind of choir director I wanna be. (Fall 007, Music Education Major.) So SPILL!

Just a note, I'm going to move this to the Just Get Away from Life forum as it really doesn't have anything to do with the HP series! Try to pay attention to where you are posting your topics. We've got a place for everything, and if you're not sure where it should go, please PM a staff member prior to posting. Thanks!

YAYYYYYY!!!!! We have a topic on singing!! I am a COMPLETE sining nerd!Im a soprano and in 8th grade! im in my schools regular choir and our auditin-only choir! YEAHH!!! We go to competition w/ Dempsey Singers(audition-only) and our cometition is in 3 weeks!! And I have a solo in one of out songs. Music is my life, I sing, dance, play the cello, play the piano, am in musicals........just music music music! Thats my life. I sing everything, just ask any of my friends. I sing half of what i should speak and if you say a phrase or word from a song I know, I randomly bust out in song! I like it when im with my other friends into music because we randomly bust out in 3-part harmony, sometimes 4 or 5 part actually, and it AWSOME!! My mom has an absolutley AMAZING alto voice, and my dad sings bass. He used to be a true 100% bass, but he doesnt sing as much as he used to so he has lost a lot od his range. My older sister also hav a really good voice and a phsyco crazy range! She can sing from tenor to Soprano 1. Its crazy! Technically shes an alto in her choir though. Our High School Choir is one ogf the best n the state and they just got to sing in CARNEGIE HALL!!!!!!! They were the fetured choir too, so they got to sing BY THEMSELVES on the CARNEGIE HALL STAGE!!!! I got to go see her! It was so much fun! It was just last weekend. But it was absolutly amazing! They always get straight 1's when they got to competition(there are 3 judges and you can get a rating of 1-5 from each of the judges. 1 being the best, 5 being the owrt. Straight 1's means all 3 jusdges gave them a 1) And so does My choir, well, my Dempsey Singers Choir. The regular one doesnt go to competition. We are singing "O Sifuni Mungu"(African) "Ha Shalom"(Hebrew), and "My Love and I". the first one is harder than an "A" level, and the last 2 are both "A" level. Im also goin to the OMEA(Ohio Music Education Administration) Solo and Ensemble this weekend to compete. OK, well, i need to shut-up! Sorry i've bee rambling on and on... I always do thins, so i'll shut-up.

I'm glad you love musica jyljoc. That's exciting. Has your choir sang Festival Sanctus or Uberlebensgross? Greatest songs ever. Well, my choir has over 50 people, which is pretty big for a AAA high school choir. We go to SENMEA District Festival, I made All-State this year, we have solo and ensemble and the Kiwanis Solo Festival. (btw, not bragging, but I got a 1 at Solo and Ensemble and a 1+ at Kiwanis.) Then, add a musical, a baccalaureate, graduation and four regular choir concerts. *squee* I'm our choir director's secretary and do most of the labeling music, working on Charms (it's a thing that helps the director keep track of fees, who's in the choir, and all the music they have) and I'm also trying to write a song.

HI!!!
umm.....no i have never sang those songs Jamie_Potter. But I'm only in middle school. Out High school choirs are the ones that are known in ohio. Well, mostely Symphonic choir, my sisters in that one. we also have concert choir, which i'll be in next year as a frashman, women's chorale, men's ensemble, and hays singers. I think thast all of them. I don't knnow. There's a lot of them. But our middle school choir, well, Dempsey Singers at least, goes to OMEA Solo and Ensemble competition and large group adjudacated event. (I don't think i spelled that right!!) Solo and Ensemble is in 2 days!! I couldn't do a solo because I don'thave a private teacher, but I'm in the ensemble. We're singing Shenendoh. But then some time in May we're going to the large group event. I'm goin with Dempsey Singers and our school orchastra. I play the Cello!! I'm excited for the competition this saturday though!! I hope we do well! But we're the first group to perform. it's at 8:00 in the morning! We have to leave our school on the bus at 6:00 in the morning!!! I'm going to be so tired!! Oh, well. I'll just have to do my best! Wish me luck!

I love to sing! I took voice lessons for basically my entire life and I was in choir for five years. I had to quit this year though because I have too many extra-curriculars. It was a good decision too because our choir directer is leaving. It would be hard to adjust to a new one after all these years. smile.gif Next year, I'm not to sure if I'll join again, I want to though.

I sing alto or soprano, I'm pretty good at both. At least I think. biggrin.gif

I'm a soprano singer in my school choir and one of the bands. In the band I often sing solo as their are only four singers. In the choir there is about thrity of us with the most in the alto part and lower. We're only separated into two groups with noramlly two, maybe three harmonies.
This is my second year of vocal lessons and I've played the piano for nine years plus I can play violin. I really love music and without it my life wouldn't be complete.
My school enters estedfords(sp?) and I might also be entering one solo so I am really nervous but it will also be exciting. One of my friends said that she has no chance of winning if I go in it and she believes I'll place at least. smile.gif I don't believe her, I know I'm good but deffinately not that good. laugh.gif
All the teachers that have heard me sing always comment how I'm good but need to work on confidence and strength in my voice because I get really nervous.
I joinedd my first choir when I was ten (I'm now fourteen) but quit the following year when the teacher changed. When I started high school when I was twelve there was a great teacher so I joined the choir and the following year I was picked to join one of the bands which you can get in my invitation or audition only.
I love singing and music and will hopefully get a part in the school musical but in the mean time I'm going to work on my confidence.

I love singing and i'm singing as i post this!!!!!!!! Lol smile.gif I'm a soprano in my school choir and i love it. My choir at school is amazing and we have almost 70-80 people in it at the moment so we are all choir geeks together! 2 days after DH is released we are all going to Italy on a choral tour and i am so excited about it!!!!!! (of course i'll read DH before i go lol).
A few days ago a few selected people from my school choir joined up with some other choirs and did a massive performance at the Lowry theatre and it was amazing!

If you want a few good songs to do with a choir:
At the moment in my school we are doing a Josepg and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat medley which is really good for boys and girls.

Another good one to do is the Rhythm of Life from sweet chariot. You can put loads of parts into it and it sounds really good (we did that at the Lowry).

Adiamus is quite good but i don't know if any of you know it. It is a made up language but sounds really South African beats and sounds. It's really interesting. If anyone doesn't know it but wanted it then you could pm me and i'll scan in the music that i have and e-mail it to you. (not sure if that's copyright though lol).
