Firstly, I always thought that Harry and Ginny would end up together.
And I liked where Ginny's character was going right up until the end of OotP.
But, I did not think that her character was paticularly likeable in HBP.
I expected we would have seen a lot more of Ginny in this book to give us a better understanding of her character and what finally pushed Harry into falling for her.
Instead Ginny hung around in the background of the book again, with only the slightest indications of Harry's growing feelings for her, and with no understanding of
why he started to like her in that way.
I didn't want the book to turn into a teenage romance novel (which it almost did in parts with all the 'whos going out with who' subplots), but because Harry is the main character, and the one who I feel the greatest affiliation for, I was disappointed that his and Ginny's coming together wasn't handled a bit more thoroughly.
And I thought the final scene between them where he tells her they cant be together, was written with very little emotional sensitivity.
By the end of the book, I just didn't care enough for Ginny and Harry to be together. Not at all like Hermione and Ron's growing relationship, which I have great affection for.
Did you think it was handled well, and are you fond of who Ginny is now you have read HBP?
