The character I missed from HBP was Hagrid's giant half-brother, Grawp. He was mentioned few times, and in the last chapter, he was with Hagrid, but I thought he'd have a bigger role. His role wasn't so big in OotP - OK, he saved Harry from the centaurs, but this is not enough, and I think JKR mentioned that we will hear more about him. When I saw the chapter title "The Cave", I thought it will be Grawp's cave. I was wrong. So what's up with Grawp? Will he have a bigger role in the seventh chapter?

Well, it's another one of JKR's plot-padding things, isn't it? At least, IMHO. One of many characters/points introduced that don't seem to have much of an impact to the overall story. *sigh*
Ah, I'm not going to start moaning about my disappointment again, I've done that enough today. Suffice it to say that no, I don't Grawp will play any bigger role now, I think he was probably put in there for....well....I don't really know, I can't think of a single reason why he was there. Aside from maybe an embroidering of Hagrid's background for some reason...*shrugs*
I completely disagree. Grawp is going to be a vital character in the 7th book. Hagrid remember has TRAINED him, he can now be controlled, proof of this is tht he sat at the funeral, without eating everybody in site lol... Also, grawp now likes/loves Hagrid, he has feelings for him, meaning grawp is on the good side. Grawp is a giant, and will be able to help harry with sumthing very important i believe in the next book...

Ah, well, this is where you and I differ... You see, I've had my faith shattered. Many things that I and plenty of other fans thought were important and would be explained by now have either been largely ignored or explained in a way that left me wondering why on earth there was such a fuss made in the first place.
You still have hope, and that's great, I hope you're right. I, unfortunately, have very little left...
hehe, i pretty sure Gawp will have a large role in the 7th book, otherwise it wud be completely pointless. cud def be summing to do with stopping the other giants.. killing DE's ect... perhaps even a horcrux..
My first thought was that Grawp appeared in the books just for fun....but maybe he'll have a role in fighting of the giants on Voldemot's side. Or maybe he'll end up like Lupin where he could try and convince them to join the orders side. I personally think he's in there for fun, but I'm open to the possibility that he could play a pretty important role.

i think grawp might have a bigger role in book seven becasue that is when the war really gets big, and i think that grawp might try to convince the other giants to join the good side, but i don't know if that will really work since grawp is a small giant

I think Grawp will appear in book 7, I think he could be very valuable to the Order, he could help persuade some of the Giants to join there side, but I do think some of them will go to the Dark Side.

Since the Grawp thread i posted in was closed ill move my post so here is what i think:
I believe we will see Grawp again in book 7. We were told in book 6 specifically that Hagrid was teaching him to speak and at the end we could see that he was getting better as i believe he was now talking and consoling Hagrid. I believe now that Grawp can speak he might be able to translate for the order making it a lot easier to persuade the Giants to come to the good side.
I'm pretty much with Michelle on this one. I really don't expect there to be much in the way of a big war between the DE's and the Order/Ministry. I think JKR will have enough trouble fitting in all the horcrux destroying activities to spend much on a war. I think in the epilogue that Jo has promised, we may learn that Hagrid's taming of Grawp may have some impact on the Ministry changing it's attitude toward magical creatures... something that Hermione will probably be involved with. Her SPEW activities and her mentioning that she'd like to do something similar to SPEW after she leaves Hogwarts make me think that this could come into play in the epilogue. That's a pretty long shot at this point though and it is so minor that I hardly seems worth the trouble.
I think it's possible that Grawp may end up participating if the DE's bring the fight to Hogwarts... maybe he'll save the trio from someone by stomping on them or something. That'd be a pretty ironic way for a DE to die. Also if the DE's succeed in recruiting the giants for some kind of mission, mayb Grawp will help the good guys fight them.
