i was so upset when Sirius died!!! He's the best! Also he death isn't even a straightforward death - going through that strange veil, which makes it even worse!
Yes, it's very tragic, I agree. But at least we'll know why Jo killed him off in the next couple of books (I read this on Mugglenet, on the book six facts page).
THe reasons for Sirius' death will become apparent in later books. Rowling has a reason for it, as he was a very loved and important character. Cedric's death caused a lot of problems when book 5 came along... so Sirius' will probobly cause some (especially for Harry and the Order) in the next few...

Ceres, double-posting is not wanted, but it's alright, It's repeated posts that are the ones we got after.
SO DON'T REPEAT POSTS!!
Anywho, I didn't like Sirius dying either. Except I knew ahead of time because I was flipping around the book because I hate getting shocks. So, I found the page where Harry's like "HE'S NOT DEAD!!!" and furiously flipped to the previous page to figure out who he was talking about.

My friend flipped throught the book too NastyShort, but by accident. She had read it before me and was like : Ooooh someone's going to die, who could it be? So I made her say 5 names + the person who dies would be in it. She said: Hermione Ron Cho Sirius Dumbledore
And I knew it would be Sirius The best characters always die....
I think your friend should have tried harder to make it less obvious, lol. Sirius came up on my list of suspects, but I honestly didn't think it WOULD be him!!!
I thought it was going to be Mr. Weasley when he got bitten. All throughout that episode I was just in shock, thinking "Please don't be dead, please don't be dead, please don't be dead, please don't be dead..."
Yeah... it was sad. It was so nice that Harry was able to have a father-son type of relationship since he had never had one. I know this is a bit off topic... but the 5th book I was a little disapointed that Lupin and Harry didn't seem to talk much. I thought they had a nice bond in POA.
I totally agree DancingVeela! I was expecting Harry to spend as much time with Lupin as he did Sirius. I guess Lupin took a step back just to let Harry and Sirius get on with it. It must of been so frustrating for Sirius being locked up in that house! I loved it when Lupin, Tonks, Mad-eye and people went to get Harry from the Dursleys, sadly Sirius couldn't go
Hey, wow I was really upset too when I read OoTP and found that Sirius died-although my friend told me he was going to die even before I got to the part . Personally (and I'm sure that many others think this way too), I don't think that Sirius is actually dead...he's just lying beyond that veil in something that I think is much worse than death itself. Often I can find myself thinking that maybe there's a way someone can get Sirius back from that veil, seeing as he isn't dead yet, but I couldn't say, because no one really knows anything about it, anyhow. I'm hoping that in HBP the veil will be explained thouroughly (and I'm sure it will ), but for now I'm here to cry all day long until I get my Black back, although I'm doubting that'll happen.
Poor Sirius, he hasn't had an easy life has he? I'm re-reading all the Harry Potter books so I can see Sirius again! It was so sweet in OOTP when Lupin + Sirius were reminiscing wasn't it? Can't wait to see a young, hunk Sirius in the OOTP movie!!

Hasn't had an easy life? That poor guy's had a tragic life!!! As Gary Oldman said when he found out what happened to him, [about JKR], "This woman puts the poor b*****d in prison for twelve years, brings him back for a couple of scenes, and then kills him off!!!"
He died never knowing justice or true freedom! If that's not tragic, I don't know what is!!
