I didn't really think any of those were corny. I thought that they were all either very good, or funny, and that they belonged in the book.

"The monster in his chest purred..."

I can't believe I didn't laugh when I first saw that. All I can picture is a crookshanks all curled up in his chest.

i would say the corniest was when j.k.r said the monster in his chest purred. i see that as very corny and sorta disgusting when tought of in a different way. jsut does not sound right in such an extraordianry piece of literature plus harry and having werid hormonal urges is just plain awkward.

This was a tough choice for me, but I chose the "hard, blazing look." mad.gif What is that? I remember reading it and thinking it was so dumb sounding. And then it's used again in Book 7. Argh!! 'The monster' in Harry's chest was pretty bad too. It took my focus off the story. I just kept thinking about how stupid of a metaphor it was. blink.gif

I must say I was a little bit too surprised to laugh or understand the meaning of it. When I did, I couldn't stop laughing. Honestly, the monster in his chest purred..! tongue.gif It was so not a thing that happens to hormonal teenagers. It was quite funny but I wouldn't say corniest but then again I may be wrong. smile.gif

When I was reading the book, it didn't really register with me that they're cheesy, and I still don't think they're all that bad. But if I have to chose one, I'll chose "..The monster in his chest purred...".

The corniest of line would have to be: the monster in his chest purred. Just because of the mental picture it puts in my head. A big dragon like monster purring...... yea it is just a little corny to me.

I voted for the 'Won-Won' one. That was just cheezy. I mean - baby talk? Come on people! There is a 6 that comes after the 1! No time for that nonsense. Seriously.

The corniest line for me would definitely have to be "the monster in his chest purred." It was such a weird metaphor to compare an attraction to someone! I found myself laughing whenever JKR mentioned the monster in Harry's chest, especially when it gave a roar of approval when he finally kissed Ginny.
