Okay I searched for a thread like this but couldn't find one so I'm going to start one here.

This is a place for all you basketball fans to discuss any basketball related topics such as : teams you like, how those teams are doing, trades etc.

Okay, in the NBA I support the Washington Wizards who are doing very well so far at 4-1. I'm kind of worried though because we play the Spurs tonight which will be a really tough game.

In college I like the Maryland Terrapins who were such a let down last season after not qualifying for the NCAA tourney for the first time in like 15 years or something. We should be a lot better than last year because almost every single one of our players are coming back as seniors or juniors (which is probably why we are starting the pre-season ranked 21).

I also have been wondering whether any of you enjoy watching college more than the NBA. For the past few years, to me, college has been the more exciting side, and march madness has got to be my favorite time for sports all year round. I just love making my own bracket and entering it in a pool and seeing who comes out on top.

So guys, let me hear your thoughts!

Oh college is soo much better than NBA. In the NBA, its not about playing the game as a team, its more like they play to get paid, not to play for fun like they do in college. Yes there are some teams that get along well like the Pistions and Spurs. The NBA is flooded with the worlds best basketball players, and the worlds biggest egos. In college its not like that. For example, I have been an Illinois fan forever, and the way Bruce Webber handled the media and the players was excellent. He didn't let the popularity get to his players but he still let them enjoy the spotlight.

I think last years tourney was the best in a very long time. There were a lot of teams that lost in the first 2 rounds that were expected to go far like Kansas and Saracuse. The best game by far in that tourney was the Illinois-Arizona game. Down by 15 with 4 minuets left and then won it in overtime, excellent game. I was disappointed in their performance against UNC, but the better team won.

The NBA, I don't really go out of my way to watch like football or college basketball. I kinda keep an eye on players and not teams. Me being from Chicago, I cheer for the Bulls. I'm starting to like the Grizzles, a good team that will reach the playoffs this year. As for players, D-Wade and T-Mac are the players that I most idolize. I do watch the Rockets and Jazz more often now that they have some Illinois players on their team.

Oh wow, basketball. I have to agree here that college is way more awesome than the NBA. It's just that in college, everyone is out there for the love of the game, having fun, and trying a whole lot harder than most professionals seem to. Being from Illinois and having a lot of friends at U of I, last year was definitely awesome for me. I'm with Secret - the Illinois/Arizona game was about the best game ever. Hmm, I think Secret actually said pretty much everything I have to say. I've always cheered for the Bulls as well just because they're from Chicago, but I don't go out of my way to watch the NBA a whole lot. Which is probably a good thing since my roommate always changes the channel to the Lakers game when I have something else on. Grr, not a huge Lakers fan here myself.

That's just how I feel about the matter, in the NBA it's more about the individual players whereas college is much more team-oriented.

Oh, and sorry about last year's championship mates, it was close and I was rooting for Illinois as well, but North Carolina was just so stacked. It's hard to root for a team like that. And did you know UNC isn't even ranked in the preseaon polls? I know they lost a bunch of their stars, but they still have some decent returning players and I expect they would have picked up a few McDonald's All-Americans during the off-season.

Oh, I forgot, just in case you two Illini fans don't know, I think they start the season ranked 25.

Hmm... I like college and NBA about the same. My favorte NBA team is the Utah Jazz and they're doing really good so far this year at 4-2 and being in first place in the Northwest right now. They're awesome!!! My favorite college teams are Utah State and BYU. Utah State's gonna be really good this year again i think with Jaycee Carroll and all, but with BYU who knows they always have an on and off season. I'm pretty excited to watch the Jazz this season though! GO JAZZ!!! biggrin.gif

I used to be a great NBA fan, but now i think, it's just not the same as it been before...But still i'm watching it and i support Denver Nuggets

They made a very good team last season i i think it's about time for them to do something bigger than just first stage of play-offs

They have a good team (Boykins, Miller, Anthony, Martin, Camby, Nene, Najera, Lenard...) and very good coach, George Karl

They are not having the best start of the season, but it will be better

And Carmelo Anthony is 100 times better than that LeBron James !!!

Well just a quick post here. The coaches vs. Cancer is a very good start to College Basketball season. Illinois won tonight vs South Dakota State which they should have won easily. I was surprised that Shawn Pruitt had a good game. I played against him my freshman season and he wasn't good at all I thought. Ohh that was a fun game... Anyways, I hadn't posted her all week. Football is tomorrow but thats a whole different topic.

Did anyone see the Wakeforest v. Florida game? Wake lost surprisingly. And Maryland also beat Farleigh Dickenson to open the season but not in the most convincing fashion. I'm a bit worried about this season, especially with our rival Duke ranked #1 unsure.gif .

Oh, and I made my High School Basketball team! Yeah me tongue.gif !

Oh yeah and Mich. State lost too. That is a good thing for Illinois. Duke is really good this year but they won't win the championship this year. I a #1 seed has the toughest time to get to the championship. Last year was very rare where you had the #1 and #2 in the nation play for the championship and it made for a great game. I haven't been on ESPN in a while so I don't know what the new rankings are yet but they are supposed to change in a few places. Mich. St. will drop and so will Wake. Texas Tech will probably move to 24 or 25 and Flordia to the other spot.

I'm an NBA fan... i don't watch any college basketball.. i have to concentrate on school now so i can't really watch as much basketball as i want to...

i support the Lakers... i know they had a real bad season last year and aren't having a real good season this year either... but i still support them... i think that they were a lot better when Shaq was on the team, but i guess good things come and go... my friend and I always make fun of each other because she supports the Kings and loves Mike Bibby and i always pick on her when "her" team loses... it's fun!

i'm not a basketball player at all, but i think it's the best sport to watch... i also like watching basketball in the olympics... i can't believe that the USA lost last year ohmy.gif

Oooh, you guys got Kwame, I feel so bad for you. We (the Wizards) have had to deal with his great disapointments on and off the court for the past three years. But now that we finally got rid of him I'm so happy. Sorry, but it looks like you guys are going to have to deal with him now.

I was also mad that USA didn't win the Olympics last year. But I wasn't too surprised because all the really good players were too scared to play...those wimps.

OH BABY the Big Ten/ACC challenge starts this week. We are all saying "REMATCH" to all of the UNC fans because Illionis is going to walk all over them tomorrow. Indiana plays Duke, that might be a good game. I don't remember who Mich. St. or Ohio St. plays but I think this is the year that the Big Ten teams win. Oh baby, Dicky is going to be quiet this week. haha.

secret your an Illini fan? awesome awesome awesome *lol* There not in the PAC10 so i can still love them wha ha ha.

Im thinking about getting season tix for the trailblazers, though ive never really been into them. Im still a lackers girl born and bred. I repeat, born and bred. I am not someone who joined the bandwagon like 3 years ago. I have piccy to prove it... in my 88 team shirt. (My dad is obsessed, ergo i no nothing other than lakers ball).

But i have a soft spot in me heart for the bulls. Last season was so amazing. We had so much fun watching the games and the atmosphere of united is stellar.

Well Maryland is doing well at 4-1 after beating Minnesota. But up next is #22 GW who we lost to last year, so I've got my fingers crossed for that game.

Nope, sorry Secret, you can put another win on the board for the ACC, but from what I hear, it was pretty close. Maybe next year, but at least Illinois beat UNC (right?).

Gosh, Big Ten lost again. Some of these teams need to pick it up. The most exciting game of the Challange was the Indania-Duke game. The one post guy from Indania was awesome, 37 points and 12 boards against Shelldon Williams. O well, confrence games are starting soon and Illiniois has some compition this year in Ohio St., Indania, and Mich. St. so I hope 4th time is still a charm.
