Well Series Ten starts in April, and judging by The Christmas Invasion, it should be really good. Why not have a topic about The Doctor? Afterall, he's been around, what, 43 years or something? I've loved every series so far, after being introduced to them when I was six through my mother.

Who is your favourite Doctor?

In order of appearance...
First = William Hartnell, 1963-1966
Second = Patrick Troughton, 1966-1969
Third = Jon Pertwee, 1970-1974
Fourth = Tom Baker, 1974-1981
Fifth = Peter Davison, 1982-1984
Sixth = Colin Baker, 1984-1986
Seventh = Sylvester McCoy, 1986-1989
Eighth = Paul McGann, 1996
Ninth = Christopher Eccleston, 2004-2005
Tenth = David Tennant, 2005/6-?

I liked Tom Baker and Jon Pertwee the most, but I'm looking forward to seeing David in action. He seemed to fit in perfectly in the special.

What do you guys think? Who made the most impressive Doctor? Do you think David Tennant will bring new life to the series? Who would you see back again, or indeed, who else do you think could be nominated for the next Doctor Who?

Theories, opinions, thoughts, disappointments... All things Doctor Who can be discussed here!!

I love Doctor Who! My favourite Doctors would be Tom Baker and Christopher Eccleston because I haven't seen the Christmas Invation yet. Here in Australia they haven't shown the Christmas invation or any of series ten. I can't wait for it to come back onto television. At the same time as my parents watch the news and my brother watches the Simpsons they play the original series and we are up to Colin Baker but I can't watch that because no television to watch it on.

I hope I see The CHristmas Invation soon!

Oh, poor you sad.gif wink.gif . Don't worry, it's worth the wait in my opinion. It was just 'fantastic'!!!

Have you been on the BBC website (do you have BBC in Australia?) because there is a small 30 second clip of the next series if you can't wait. It's strange, because I'm sure I heard somewhere that they were airing it worldwide on New Years Day. Bizarre...

http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/

Sorry if it doesn't work. Like I said, I'm new at this stuff! biggrin.gif

Yay, I like Christopher Eccleston too, he's definately in the top three on my top Doc list. He really brought the series back to life. It would have been nice to hear more about this Time War though. That must have happened with Paul McGann, but they never aired it.

We never got it here on New Year's Day that I know. ABC plays it and we watched ABC news everynight but there was no mention of Doctor Who before and after it started. I really hope it comes soon because I have watched the ninth series all day and I want the tenth series. I hope it is worth the wait!

Are there any other Doctor Who fans out there?

I love doctor who! My family is obsessed (my little sister got the anual book thing for christmas.)

I must admit to not seeing many of the old old episodes but if its on then I always give it a watch as they're always entertaining.

David Tennant sold it to me you know! I thought he was amazing he really made me laugh and I can't wait till the new series starts because I think it will be really exciting. I can't pick an overall favourite because each is different and brings their own kinda character to the role but I think Im going to like David's spin on the character.

Yay, hi and welcome to this humble thread. My mum enjoys Doctor Who, but only the older series' which is kind of annoying. I can't really get her excited enough to watch David Tennant even though he suited perfectly at Christmas. She reckons Eccleston's series was a joke, and I found that highly insulting! My dad and sister think I'm crazy, because I like it so much, but my mum will always back me up, which is nice! smile.gif

I think you're right. Each Doctor has portrayed a new character, which makes the series live on and continue. Not many shows can say they've lasted fifty years and are still running strong, so I congratulate them all! biggrin.gif

I can't wait for David. He was hilarious wasn't he? His personality just fits perfectly here, and I'm so excited to see what he has in store for DW fans world-wide.

Oh I don't have ABC, but the older series and repeats are on UKTV Gold, so I'm guessing that's kind of like ABC for you, Caity. The Christmas Invasion is 100% worth the wait, just to reassure you. I loved it, and I watched the repeat on New Years' because it was so good. I hope you get the chance to see it before the next series starts!! smile.gif

I love how the Doctor used that satsuma. It was very clever. I thought the santas were cool. i like the one with the trombone/flamethrower thingy. I can't wait for the return of the cybermen. I hope the Daleks don't come back as the doctor portrayed by Eccleston was sort of obsessed by the time war. Though if my entire species were destroyed i would probably be a tiny bit annoyed. I know the weird blob of skin called cassandra is going to be back and the murderer of eastenders is going to play a villian. My top three doctors are
1David tennant
2Christopher Eccleston (Fantastic!)
3Tom Baker.

Erm, maybe to disappoint or not, but if you check this link, your hopes may be dashed a little....

Scroll down to the bottom, last episode and a rumour about the Daleks is there. Sorry, but they could be back...

http://www.relativedimensions.co.uk/episodes2.html

Say, you know that he was sort of obsessed with the Time War thing, but does anyone actually know anything about it? At the beginning we kind of get the idea that he's just regenerated (Could o' been worse...look at the ears), so maybe it was how the eighth was killed and Eccleston came in, but I don't think it was ever aired. Paul McGann only did the movie, he never did episodes, so do you think the Time War occured between that movie and these episodes? I want to find out more about it in series 2. Maybe the Doctor will talk to Rose about it or something...

Sorry, I keep replying and I bet it's really annoying, but it's my first thread and I like the fact that I'm not the only DW fan around. And I've lots of thoughts I'd like people's opinions on! wink.gif

Oh how can the daleks be back. That's so boring. I want something new to be on the show. i'm looking forward to the cybermen but the daleks have already bored me too much. It's all they do "Exterminate, Exterminate and so on and so forth" .At least anything Russel T. Davies writes is good though.

I can definately understand your point. I think the Daleks have been a little overexagerated because of the 'Dalek' episode. If they had just been in the last two, then fine. But because there was that lone Dalek in episode six, it's almost like they were running out of ideas and decided to stick with a creature they knew to save energy.

Isn't he only writing two episodes this time? The first two I think. Hey, even Stephen Fry's writing one. It's all going to be different, there's about six different writers I think. Not that I'm complaining, but I have enjoyed Davies' goes. Anyway, it should all be good. Can't wait actually. Oh, and speaking of waiting...

I've got a release date for series 2 in Britain...
25 March 2006!!
Get that in your calenders!!
