I think that there should be a debate on the pro's and con's of school uniformes. I think it would be a popular topic amongst students and parents and i would like to see the results of an international debate on the topic.

Hi there, The Other Boy Who Lived! Thanks for the suggestion. As it is, we have a Schooling thread to discuss all aspects of school, which would include uniforms. If you'd like to discuss it and hear others' opinions, you may ask the question directly in the thread.
I hope this helps you out! If you have any questions, please let me know.

I have an interesting topic. I was wondering if anyone else realised that the Harry Potter books took place from 1991- 1997. If you go back to Hallows it shows you this on page 328. Im curious to see if anyone else noticed this fact.

Hi there, Lord Skinner! Thanks for your suggestion. As it stands, though, we have a thread here that discusses the Harry Potter timeline. Also, we have a thread here in the Great Hall for discussing All Harry Potter. Feel free to post in either of those threads.
If you have any other suggestions, please feel free to let us know.

I've browsed the forum and I haven't found a thread about "characters who where wrongly sorted". In my opinion there are many and it's worth discussing. On the other hand, maybe I haven't searched hard enough so if there is a thread about this topic can you tell me where it is?

Actually, I think there're two similar threads about Characters that were sorted into the wrong House here. I can't recall exactly where, but I think it may be the Lounge, or here, here or here. Also, in the Houses Common Rooms there's always that questions to answer xD Good luck!

Yes, there is a thread in the Lounge for discussing characters people think were sorted into the wrong House, here. If you have any other questions or suggestions, please let us know.

Hi!
I'd like to see a discussion on globalisation, as I believe there isn't one in The Great Hall yet.
Globalisation is an important issue that's hanging right ontop of us, and I would be very interested to see what people here have to say about it=)

It would be really great to have a debate thread regarding the nature of God! As in, are there any contradictions in his very nature that make him unbelievable?
Also, a pro-life/pro-choice debate would be interesting. Abortion always makes an excellent topic for debate

Thanks for the recent suggestions!
Weaxzezz, you may go ahead and open that thread. When you do, make sure you state enough points so people know what your looking for in the discussion. Maybe end the first post with a question to get the ball rolling. Thanks!
siriuslyinlove, we already have two religion threads in the JGAFL forum here and here. Please feel free to post discussions in either of those threads, but at this time we don't feel we need another one here, as well.
As for the pro-life/pro-choice thread, we are afraid that it would get way too heated because such topics can be very personal to some people. People have such strong views when it comes to something like that. For the moment, we're going to have to say no, but we'll keep discussing it to see about opening it in the future.

Many moons ago the topic came up in the Great Hall and the discussion did, as you say, becoming very heated. I have a vague feeling that it was agreed that such a sensitive issue wouldn't be opened up for discussion for some time to come.

I've looked around the The Great Hall, and I don't think I saw a thread about medical issues.
I suggest that we have a thread pertaining to medical issues, surgeries, illness and so on. I think sharing our experiences could help someone that might be going through or know someone going through the same thing.
I think the discussion should be open to everything from broken bones, surgery, disorders, std's...everything medical no matter how small or how large. It would also be a great place to get advice, share experiences like I said and ultimately be there to help and encourage people that are dealing with medical issues.

Hey, Hermione17! Sorry it took so long to get back with you on this. I agree that sometimes talking with others, especially those that share the same experience, can help get you through. I'm going to go ahead and allow this topic to be open, but I would like you to lay a couple of ground rules in the first post when you open the thread.
First, there's already a thread in JGAFL for injuries so we really don't need another discussion for things like broken bones. So let's try to keep the discussions to things a little less common.
Second, everyone needs to respect and be conscious of the feelings of others. Some discussions that could possibly come up may be very sensitive to some of our members. I just want everyone to be aware of that.
And when you open the thread, make sure you get the ball rolling by starting the conversation with something of your own to discuss, or maybe link an article on something and ask a question to the members about it.

No sweat Insomnia. I know everyone has their own lives to live. Thanks for taking the time to get back to me. I'll mention everything you said and make sure the rules are clear. I have a personal story I can open the thread with, following an article that touches on what I went through.
