Sadly, the puzzle behind the door has closed again.
For those of you who didn't see it, Albus-Wan has very kindly pulled together the quiz that was hidden behind the door along with the links to where you can find the answers. Read his post here.
This thread is for discussing the test and, eventually, the results when they're released.

I cannot get flash om my computer, so i didn't do the test But i read Albus-Wan's post and it was really tricky! But can i just ask why on earth is it called the WOMBAT test? Maybe i'm missing out on something here, but that seems kind of random, but i doubt it is!

The title of the test is listed at the top of the transcribed version of the test. As you can read there, W.O.M.B.A.T. stands for Wizards' Ordinary Magic and Basic Aptitudes Test.
I'm still quite convinced that the whole test is part of an April Fools' prank that Jo was playing on us. My hope is that, if the test really is meaningless, she will still be revealing some tidbit of information as she usually does when the door opens. It seems likely that when the method for retrieving your score becomes clear, instead of getting a specific score, we will eventually be given that information.
We're still more than a year out (at least) from when the next book is likely to be published, so I don't expect anything groundshaking, but we can all hope *fingers crossed*.

Oh i get it! Thanks Albus-wan! Well if it is all April Fools, then perhaps she will tell us the release date! Maybe a WOMBAT will play a large part in the next book, maybe asisit Harry finding a Horcrux down under?!!!

I really don't think that it is an April Fools prank because I oopened the door and took the test on March 31. If it was a prank I don't believe that she would have put it up the day before.
I also doubt that it will be something spectacular when we get our test results back. Maybe it will have something to do with the next time she opens the door. Oh well, I guess we will all just have to wait and see.

Your sixteen year old nephew, D, has hexed his seveneen-year-old sister, E. E has retaliated with a stunning spell that missed D and hit a Muggle motorist, who has smashed into a lamppost.
I'm just curious, is this how tests in the UK are written? with letters instead of actual names? I know in the US it would read more like "Your sixteen year old nephew, Alex, has hexed his seventeen year-old sister, Ellen..." or something like that. So is that just a WOMBAT thing or is it a UK thing? European thing?

"I come from the Land Down Under!!!! Where women glow and men plunder? Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder? You better run, you better take cover." - a small variation to the real song.
That would be soo cool if HP came to Australia! Well even if it is in the books. But I seriously doubt a wombat is in the book. Their not the best creatures. If she wanted an Aussie animal then she could have had the echidna, or kangaroo, or koala, or goanna. A goanna would be best. Their so interesting and so tall!
Anyway, I didn't like the test. I did it in like less then ten minutes and I didn't even look up any of the answers, or anything along the lines of the answers. I relied totally on my memory - which I hope served me well. If not........well there's nothing I can do about it now.

Depends on your age, Nimbus. For GCSE's (which you take at 16) they probably would phrase the questions with names, as you mentioned. By the time you get to A-Levels (18) and above, they stop mollycoddling you and resort to the slightly colder 'A' does something to 'B' which results in 'C'.
I doubt it will be anything major revealed though...it's just a bit of fun. Remember, JKR said that everything she says at this stage would be a giveaway, so she's going to be more tight-lipped and cryptic than ever before. I wouldn't go holding my breath for major revelations if I were you....
Tahra - I can't wait to see what you get! I expect full marks from staffers!! Think of our reputation!!

Now, on JKs desk there's a little card with W.O.M.B.A.T. written on it. If you click on it and enter your identification code it comes up with a screen with a clock. The hand eaither points to being marked, in the post, or delivered. Mines still on being marked - is anyone elses in the post yet?

That JKR is rotten one, no doubt--with all her tactics to create suspense and drama. She'll string us along as long as it amuses her. I'm sure that they all say the papers are being marked, then they'll also say they're in the post, and so forth.
The worst part is, when all is said and done, we'll have some new information and who knows how significant it will be? We'll think it's terribly significant, but it could be...who knows? Maybe she'll give us a name, for instance, and we'll start asking, "Who could it be? Is it the heir of Gryffindor? Maybe that's the real identity of the infamous R.A.B.!" We'll go on and on.
And where will JKR be? She'll be here reading our theories! And you know what she'll be doing while she reads? Laughing! She'll probably be doubled up laughing hysterically about the trauma she's caused because she knows that the name she's given us is the name of an insignificant that's sitting in the Hog's Head at some irrelevant point in the book who we won't care about and will never hear of again after one brief mention!
Remember how crazy we all were over the description of Scrimgeour? We were falling all over ourselves guessing it was the Half-Blood Prince, Godric Gryffindor, or any number of different characters we thought would be immensely important. And it was just Scrimgeour! Sure he's the head of the government, but when it comes down to it his biggest contribution to the storyline is that he provoked Harry to assert that he was "Dumbledore's man through and through".
JKR knows exactly what she's doing--she'll give us just enough information to cause us all to go into convulsions as we attempt to theorize over what the information could mean! She sees vinegar, she adds baking soda, then steps back and watches the show.
Anyways, having said that, I can hardly wait to find out where this all leads! Let the games begin!
