Is anybody here connected to celebrities?
MOD EDIT- you've been here long enough to know the rules- one liners are not permitted. Please elaborate in the future.

I met Eoin Colfer! (He wrote Artemis Fowl if you don't know)
It was at a book signing, I was really as chuffed as a train because we had a proper conversation about my legwarmers and my brothers beard. Random, huh? I found out what the next Artemis Fowl book is going to be called to. (He was between titles - either Artemis Fowl and the Lost Colony or Artemis Fowl and the Philosipher's Goblet of Azkaban.
Also, my friend's, friend's grandmother is the Queen. And Blackbeard the Pirate is my great great great great second uncle. But he's dead now so I guess it doesn't count.

I know a couple. This one kinda old band named Cheap Trick (anybody on VTM heard of them). MY mum and dad took me to their concert in our city when they were touring, I was about 4, and they thought I was really cute

, so they let me on their tour bus. It was really huge. Since my parents are in the music biz, I know a lot of singers that are famous. I met Donny Osmond, and he also knows my grandmum, because she works at the airport, and he goes through our airport a lot because he used to live in Provo, and that's where his sister Marie lives, and he likes to visit her. I met Britney Spears once when I was about 5 (1998), and I met Sheryl Crow, because my dad worked for her....When I think of anymore celebrities I met, I will post them, but for now,
...angie

Ah yes! I just remembered - I know another one! (Ish)
My mum and Dad and my little brother who was still in a pushchair (Gosh how he's grown - hes taller than me now) collided into Status Quo. Litteraly. My mother went into them with the pushchair and was all "Ooops, sorry!" While my Dad was like "Its Status Quo! Oh my gosh!"
Also, Tony Blair sent us a Christmas card. And we are family friends with our local MP which isn't an amazing celebrity, but shes in the paper evry week, so i think she counts.

I remember Cheap Trick. lol Gawd I'm old!
I'm friends with someone very famous, but I'm beginning to think it isn't a very good thing and I almost wish I wasn't. Famous people are strange.

And the way other people act about them is stranger still.

Oh yeah...lol...another one. My cousin is married to Cheryl Ladd's brother. Don't know if anyone remembers her, she's an actress. She took Farrah Fawcett's place as the blonde angel on
Charlie's Angels, an TV.
What else? I saw Willie Aames perform with his band at Disneyland. He was awful. lol He used to be on TV a lot--"Eight is Enough" and "Charles in Charge."

Gosh, don't think I really know anyone famous. My friend's dad's secretary's sister went to school with Tom Welling...my mom's friend's ex-boyfriend is Dave Coulier...I was once less than 10 feet away from Derek Jeter...*sigh* That's about as famous as I get. Honestly. How sad! Lucky lucky Susie! She's related to everyone!

I have met a lot of famous people actually. Over this late summer/early fall, I met the entire Chicago Bears football team. All of them are very funny and are good teachers and put it in a way that I would understand. My uncle's wife is Kristen Bell's aunt. I've met her a few times. (She's the girl on Veronica Mars) Let see... When I was younger, like 6, my dad introduced me to Donald Trump, though I don't remember it, I had my picture taken with him.
Those are all the big ones. I did met Fall Out Boy before they were extremly famous. They were already in Chicago. There's a bunch of others that you might consider 'famous' but you probably don't know them.

Wow, the only famous person I ever saw was Gloria Estefan. I was on a fieldtrip to a place called "Parrot Jungle" and she was there with her child. Since they were on a fieldtrip, my school was with all the schools and I saw her. I was like maybe 2 yards or less from her! But to be honest that's it...i'd LOVE to meet Mr. Radcliffe! *gurly giggle*

EDIT: This is really

but I just saw under my username "Battling Dragons" Aww that's cute!

Well I didn't really see him, but I heard Robbie Williams's whole show from our porch/veranda thing just now. He sang at a stadium that's about 200 m away from us, so I could hear every word - it was so cool!
And what's even more, my cousin, who went to see the show, came to park her car in our driveway - and who would she bring along? One of South Africa's coolest and most famous Afrikaans singers! She's friends with his sister, and their whole family came with her - I nearly fainted! He gave me their car keys to keep for him, and I was just star struck!
If I ever meet Mr Rickman - I'll die! There's no question about it...

Ummm....well i know relatively well a guy called Simon Channing Williams, who was the producer of The Constant Gardener and Vera Drake. I've met Cherie Blair a couple of times, and the archbishop of Canterbury. My sister goes to school with some kids whose dads are in Status Quo and Led Zeppelin, we bumped into Rick Parfitt in the car park. Apart from them, no one really.... oww yer Tim Henman (tennis player) vaguely, and Benoit Mandelbrot (mathematiction) vaguely aswell!

Ooh! Ooh! I forgot one! When I was like 2 years old, I had my picture taken with Barney and Baby Bop!!
I know...it's really pathetic. Well, I went to a Clay Aiken concert, so I guess you could say that I *cough* met him *choke*. My mum's best friend is a voice-over person and a professional alto singer...it's kind of funny, though...she went to a karaoke contest at a bar and *forgot* to mention that she was a professional singer...needless to say, she won the contest, hands-down. It was really funny. Um...I know someone who was on a matress commercial as a baby! Isn't that right, David...

My history teacher tutors Ivan Rodriguez's son during the summer. Pudge is like
the best catcher in the MLB. He's going to be a hall-of-famer, I know that. I've been begging my teacher to take me to Pudge's house--his son is my age, plus I idolize Pudge (sometimes I play catcher in softball)--but strangely enough, my teacher looks at me like I'm insane whenever I ask that. I wonder why?...

I know no cool celebs

i saw the Chuckle brothers in the Panto when i was 7.... i don't think that counts.
Oh I met Philip Schofield when i was 7!! He's a TV presenter, he was pretty cool.
If if know about the UK Big Brother show, the guy who won the fourth series, Cameron Stout. He lives in the same city as me

He's our city's little celeb. I see him everywhere. It's so annoying. He's not that nice a person, a little too big for his boots. Once i was eating my dinner in a resturant and he walked in, and just yelled, 'Hello!' Everyone looked up and everyone just groaned

i know no one who likes him, and pretty much everyones met him... *sigh*
Apart from that, just politicians and te like. Nothing that exciting really.

Well, I met a few celebs over the years, all in completely random encounters.
I met Kiefer Sutherland at a pub that was accross the street from our condo in Toronto a few years back. I also bumped into him and his Dad (Donald Sutherlland) a few years after that and he actually remembered me!
(I won't say any more, as Louise will be jealous...)
I also met a few bands, Great Big Sea and Blue Rodeo being some of the big ones. My fellow Canucks will know who they are, but probably not too many others.
I met William Gibson, author of Neuromancer, Count Zero, Mona Lisa Overdrive, etc... at a lecture he gave at University of Toronto. We had coffee and a good chat. He's a relly swell guy!
Once had a chat with Gene Wilder on a patio off the Danforth in Toronto. He was shooting a movie down the block and went for a stroll between takes.
That's about it...

Apr 19 2006, 03:58 PM
Well, I'll share my encounters if you all promise not to laugh.
I met Dee Snider at a local Starbucks. He was in line behind me and I had my daughter with me and he asked me how old she was and then he started talking about his kids when they were that age... he was actually very nice.
Let's see, I'm not sure that this will count as a celebrity, but I met Hillary Clinton at a luncheon benefit for breast cancer. She made a speech and I actually had a pleasant conversation with her.
That's about it for me.
Oh yeah... I second Helen...

That is sooo amazing. You are so lucky!
I haven't met very many celebrities. I wish I had! But I did meet Mackenzie Crook, which was sa-weet. And (drum roll please

) I knocked (literally) into
Adrian Brody! I was in California, and I was walking down Santa Monica Pier, and I hit him with my elbow. I was blushing so hard, but he was so nice about it. (And I got an autograph and a picture!

Now, stop it, you two, you know I can't say on a public forum or he wouldn't STAY my friend!
Dee Snider? Cool! He was so funny in the '80s, I remember he was on that first Pee Wee Herman movie.

Rock was so colorful in the '80s! All the big, shaggy, head-bangy hair!
Anjali, I so don't know who either of those people are, not by name at least. I never know what's cool anymore...

I had a friend who used to race motorbikes and was supported by Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman. I once gave Ewan a kiss on the cheek at a BBQ at Donington Park.
Also met and groped the bottoms of Carl Fogarty, Barry Sheene, Scott Russell, Colin Edwards. (I was a gropey not a groupy!!) but you'll only know them if you like bike racing.
My mum used to work with Holly Johnson (Frankie Goes to Hollywood) mum at a childrens hospital in Liverpool.
I met Adam Horowitz (Adrock from Beastie Boys) outside Liverpool Magistrates Court, when he was on trial for a riot at one of their gigs.

let's see, who do I know...hmm...
Well i know the band Matchbook Romance, mainly the drummer since he's practically my cousin (me and his brother were born a week apart at the same hospital and our mom's are best friends).
i also met JK Rowling a Barnes and Noble a looooong time ago, when the 3rd book came out.
and i kinda met Mikey Way (from My Chemical Romance) at the Hard Rock Cafe in NYC..but I didn't ACTUALLY talk to him, and no i didn't stare..the whole time at least...i was too nervous to talk to him hehe.
aaaaand i think that's it, if i think of anyone else i'll letcha know.

You're still cool. Mackenzie Crook was in Pirates of the Caribbean, and Adrien Brody was in King Kong and The Jacket. (All I can think of right now)
But today was definitely the best day of my life, because I met Mark Woods! (okay, so he's not like a movie star or anything) Mark Woods is the most amazing violinist I have ever seen. I went to a free concert he did with my orchestra class, and he played his electric violin, nicknamed, "Viper". He played Led Zeppelin and Queen and the Beatles and Cream, it was So Amazing. It was like a rock concert.
Anyway, he's in an upcoming Pepsi commercial, look out for it, it's really cool.

Well, aren't you sweet, Anjali?

I looked up Mackenzie Crook on Imdb and realised he's the pirate who has the splintery wooden eye. lol He was great! And awfully cute as well!

I haven't seen those two Adrian Brody movies yet but I remember him now. Thanks for letting me know some of the work they've done!
The violinist sounds awesome!

The guy with the splintirty wood eye you say? He was in a British Sitcom the Office, although i never really watched it. Was the only one in th world who didn't like it, weird i know

Aww.... Darcy, why not

Lol, ok, i understand, teehee....
I haven't heard of hardly any of these celebs. RG's Babe, Jk Rowling? Who's she?
Lord Mouldywart (love the screen name, i call him that too) I'm so envious, Ewan McGreggor!! I love him.
Oh i saw Ross Noble live once, and if you've seen any of his DVDs you'll know after his gig (he's a comedian) he asks 'any questions' and i asked him one, and he didn't know what i was saying and implied that I was on drugs, he was like 'What.... what i can't hear you... a crowd...?*turns around* Does that look like a crowd to you? Are you high or something... strange girl.'
Me (mortified) , 'No, a
crab!' There was this inflatable red thing behind him... You'll be pleased to know i think he went on to agree with me. I was too embarrased to notice

Oh this other time, i don't know if this really counts as celeb. But I went to see Cats, and i was in the front row, and nex to me tere was an empty seat. Any way during the show the Rum Tum Tugger, had on very tight tights.... well.... i was 18... where was i suppose to look!!! Any way, i was sitting staring at this guys... crotch ok! There i said it. Any way, at the end, he waved at me, and i kinda waved back. And at the very end of the show, the cats run amoung the auidence, and instead of this cat running aorund, the rum tum tugger came and sat next to me and said 'Hey... enjoy the show?' He probably knew where i'd been staring everytime he was on stage..... I died a little inside that day....
How come all these moments i just get really emabarrsed? Like i said, i don't know if that counts as a celeb, or an embarrasing story, a bit of both maybe?

Well, I dunno if this really counts, but I am sort of connected to several celebrities, but I've only really met one, so it's kind of cool. My dad is a stage director who's been all over the place. He's worked with some famous actors, like everytime I turn the channel, he'll point to some random dude, and be like: "Oh I worked with him, he seemed very unhappy." He also told me that once Sigourny Weaver kissed him. He knows alot of famous people, but it's so common for him to know someone that I don't remember any other names. I also have a really weird story of how I met a famous person. My dad was working on a show in a remote little town in Colarado, I mean no-cell-phone-or-computer-reception remote. There were like 500 people who lived there. Well we traveled there to see the show, and I saw a woman who looked exactly like the mother from "Boy Meets World" and I brushed it aside. When I got inside my hotel room which was suppsedly "haunted", there was this pamphlet, and apparently the actress WAS in town to do a singing show. So I went to it, and my dad managed to talk to her at an after party. (It was the theatres 25th anniversary or something) and it turns out she used to act there, and my dad got an autograph for me. The next day we turned out to be eating breakfast at the same place, and I got to meet her. It was pretty cool

My cousin also writes for the New York times

Yay! Guess what? At school, a girl in my studies group is named Victoria and has just moved from Edinburgh, Scotland. She went to school with JK Rowling's daughter and Victoria's sister met JK Rowling!
???Hi! Well the only really famous celebrities I have seen are Hugo Weaving and Hilary Duff. Hugo Weaving (LotR) has children that go to my school but I don't know his daughter very well. I went to a concert of Hilary's when she came to Aus. for the first time

, I don't like her music anymore though.
I have seen quite a few Australian celebrities, I don't think many people would have heard of them here but I will go on anyway!

I saw this woman from Getaway (a show about the best holiday locations lol) and I saw Steve Erwin ( the Crocodile Hunter

). I couldn't believe it when my friend saw Isabel Lucas! I am sure they were telling the truth though! Also, my grandparents see Ada Nicodemou at the restaurant where her husband works. I have seen two famous tennis players as well as Ian Thorpe

. I will not forget Monica from Playschool! Lol. Her children also go to my school. I am sure that many people won't know who I am talking about for the most part, maybe some people in Aus. will, maybe people in England if they watch Home and Away. Does anyone watch that show?

If you count German politicians then I have met some of them and shook hands with a few. Nothing extraordinary though. That's just what comes with spending your leisure time campaigning.

Alaina! Stop, you're embarrassing me! lol

I told Alaina already, but my mom has the tape (she recorded it on a VHS when it aired...in 1992!), and sometimes she takes it out when we have family or friends of the family over the house to embarrass me

. She is sitting on the bed with me, and I am crawling towards the camera. Nothing too special.
Umm...famous people. I know I have met some, but I just cannot think of anybody right now. OH! I met Tom Seaver, an old New York Mets player and now an announcer for the Mets, at a birthday party once. My dad and grandfather met Bil Clinton a while back when he was President!! I came home from camp one day and my dad shows me a photograph of himself with Mr. Clinton! My grandfather was having a fundraiser with some politicians, and Clinton showed up with Al Gore! My sister actually has a picture with herself and Gore somewhere in her room!
Urrrrm *racks brain* ... OHH! My dad always tells me this story about how he was at this celebrity golf tournament in Atlantic City (NO,
he is not a celebrity, but he was one of the chairpeople for the company that held it at teh time), and among several well-known celebrities who play golf was Michael Jordan! So my dad goes over to him and shakes his hand and introduces himself, and before you kow it, they were playing poker together in the casino! My dad loves to tell that story...it's awesome!
I will try to think of more stories for later...hmmmmm.....

I don't know any famous people personally... like no one I could just call up and be like "hey _____, want to hang out? Go get a bite to eat." however, I have been lucky enough to meet quite a few famous singers/bands/actors in the last couple of years. Lets see here..... I've met the band Swollen Members a few times, just from going to concerts of theirs. I've met a lot of singers that way, going to their concerts and seeing them outside and backstage... I've met: Snow, Sam Roberts, Kazzer, LiveonRelease, Avril Lavigne, Simple Plan, Nickleback, 3Days Grace, Backstreet Boys, mandy moore (before she was famous) and Tre Cool and Billie Joe from green day. Again, its not like i know them or anythign, just met them, autographs, pictures, that kind of thing.
A couple years ago I was on a class trip to Chicago and I met Steve Martin (Actor - Father of the Bride, Bringing down the house, cheaper by the dozen) in an art gallery/museum. He was pretty cool, he talked to me and my friends for about 5 minutes before going back to looking around with him family. There is also a woman my mom works with, who's Neice is Kelly Rowan (Kirsten from the OC) and one time when she was visiting her family here I got to meet her quickly and got her autograph so that was pretty cool because the Oc is on of my fav. shows.
But the coolest people that I ever go to meet was the Toronto Maple Leafs team. No wise cracks please. i've been a Leaf fan since I was... umm... born pretty much, and 3 years ago I was lucky enough to be able to meet the whole team (I was most excited about meeting Darcy Tucker... oh how I love him... and Tie domi and Bryan McCabe)! It was soooo incredibly cool!!! Really fun times. But thats pretty much it.... lol my friends always say I'm a celebrity stalker because I've been able to meet all these people... but I guess I'm just in the right place at the right time! Makes for exciting days though! Anywho, ciao for now!

Well, actually I don't know anyone famous in my entire life but my friend knows a Chinese celebrity (no, not Zhangziyi!). I don't suppose you will know her if I've told you guys her name, but she's quite pretty.
My dad had once acted in a TV series about some doctors curing some patient. He was the doctor for only one episode (at least he had the chance to do it). It was so cool! I got to talk with some celebrity called 'Mucbao' (O_O) but I suppose he had forgotten me, I was in third grade then.
And then i had a friend who acted in an ad when he was small. He was a baby and I don't think any of you can recognise him now!

I don't actually know anyone famous, but.. on Sunday I went to T4 on the Beach (big uk gig..lots of artists live on TV). Anyway it took place about 40minutes drive away from where I live but on the way home there was a huge traffic jam. After sitting in the car for nearly 2 hours all these people kept getting out of there cars and running back down the road to a big 4x4. I wondered who was in it. Eventually the car drew level with mine and Shayne Ward winner of UKs X Factor was in the passenger seat. He waved at me and my daughter we exchanged a few words then I grabbed my phone to take a picture which he posed for. The traffic started moving and I dumped my phone......only I didn't save it and now its gone and I'm gutted!!!!

Today, my friend was chatting to me via msn when her doorbell rang. She wen't to get it and there was a woman asking if she knew where Steve Strange lived. My friend was like "Who?" and the woman said he lived right on her street. And that he was an 80s punk idol person. My friend was kinda surprised, went back online and google searched Steve Strange, and it seems he was really quite famous, in the 80's. And he lives on the same street as my friend! I was like "Woah..." So funny. We were reading his biography of the bbc website, and some people were like "Steve! I loved your songs! I want to marry you!" and we were like, "Uh, he's my next door neighbour..."

I personally HAVE met a celebrity: Ryan Pinkston. He lives about 5 miles away from me and even goes to my school! He was in Spy Kids 3, Quintuplets, and Punk'd. I met him at our school's talent show because he was in it. He was actually pretty cocky about his 'career'. He would brag a lot and he acted like everyone liked him. The hardest part with meeting someone famous is that you don't really have anything to say...you just kinda stand there and look stupid and then you begin blabbing about the weather...rather embaresing really

Okay, after reading everyone elses connections I think I'm going to sound pretty stupid saying the couple that I have...
Well, my dad used to work with this man and woman who's son plays the back of Draco Malfoy's head in the Harry Potter films. Whoo! Yep, just the back of his head. So... yeah, that's a great connection.
And my uncle used to be on TV ages ago. He was one of the gardeners on groundforce, like in the first series. They don't even have that show any more, do they?
And when my sister started Brownies, she made friends with Rowan Atkinson's (Mr Bean) daughter. Very interesting.
Umm... yeah that's about it.
Oh and I met Dominic Wood (he used to do that weird magic show on kid's TV) when I was about 8. We were on the London Eye and he was in the pod next to ours. I think I spent the whole time staring at him because he was doing some really cool magic tricks through the glass. And then, when we got off I asked for his autograph (god, I'm sad) but he didn't finish signing the paper so I don't even have the whole of his signature... "Dominic Woo" that's what it says. Hehe.
Okay, I'm going now... Sorry, these stories are awful.
P.S. My friend has met quite a lot of famous people because her dad works in the bbc. But, that's her story not mine.

I am related to Laura Ingalls WIider tho. She wrote the Little House on the Praire books. So thats kinda cool. But ya, thats all I can think of. And well I kinda met Lynard Skynard.

I know many "enwogion" (famous people in Wales), but most of these are not very well known outside Wales.
The composer
Arwel Hughes (Romantic style) - we had a few wonderful conversations about the Welsh language. His son
Owain Arwel Hughes - a great conductor to sing for. The artist
Meirion Roberts - one of the loveliest people I've ever met. Many Welsh poets and some English ones - the most notable of which (in the outside world) would be
R.S. Thomas whom I once visited at his home.
Moving to England, there's
Noël Edmonds with whom I once held a conversation at an airport where we had both been flying.
In the USA there's the singer
Phideaux Xavier - if you don't know his music I suggest you visit
this place. And I once shook hands with
George Bush (senior), at the time that he was Vice President.

I've met the entire U.S. Gymnastics Olympic team back in 2004 - like Carly Patterson, Mohini Bhardwaj, Terin Humphery, etc., in case you know of any of them. I met them when they toured the U.S. shorty after the Olympics.

George's_gf - I went to that tour. The TJ Max tour I believe? I met all of them as well, Kourtney Kupets, and Courtney McCool. I met Shannon Miller as well at IGC (International Gymnastics Camp), if you know what that is by any chance..
