my favorite scene? the pensieve scene with snape and the marauders, no doubt. I love how we get an insight into the minds of harrys parents, the marauders, and young snape. my second favorite has got to be the funeral, because there, finally, is proof of R/Hr. It made me scream "FINALLY!!!!".

my favorite? oh god. ummmmmmm, I would say when imposter moody turned draco into a ferret and makes him bounce, and when McGonagall comes and says "professor, what are you doing?" and he just responds "teaching".

I crack up at that scene all the time

Oh my goodness! Definitely in book 4 when the problems of the Crouch all come into order with Winky, hiding Barty Jr. and Barty Jr. posing as Moody. Oh my, everything fit! I remember reading it and just AMAZED that Rowling could’ve fit it like that so it wouldn’t be predictable.

My favorite scene is the part in Goblet of Fire where Barty Crouch Jr. is under the Veritaserum and we find out all of his secrets throughout the entire book. It was such a good twist and I was simply astonished when I read that part.

I have plenty of favorite scenes, but some really stand out
1. Harry enters the great hall after slaying the basilisk in the chamber of secrets and a great party is going on with Hermione running to him saying "You solved it... You solved it"
2. The moment when Harry catches the snitch and Gryffindor wins the quidditch cup for the first time in years
3. When Harry fires his patronus across the lake
4. When it's time for Sirius to escape on buckbeak and the conversation he shares with Harry
5. After Dumbledore's funeral, a resolute Harry prepares himself for his future. This whole sequence
'I'm not coming back even if it does reopen,' said Harry.
Ron gaped at him, but Hermione said sadly, 'I knew you were going to say that. But then what will you do?'
'I'm going back to the Dursleys' once more, because Dumbledore wanted me to,' said Harry. 'But it'll be a short visit, and then I'll be gone for good.'
'But where will you go if you don't come back to school?'
'I thought I might go back to Godric's Hollow,' Harry muttered. He had had the idea in his head ever since the night of Dumbledore's death. 'For me, it started there, all of it. I've just got a feeling I need to go there. And I can visit my parents' graves, I'd like that.'
'And then what?' said Ron.
'Then I've got to track down the rest of the Horcruxes, haven't I?' said Harry, his eyes upon Dumbledore's white tomb, reflected in the water on the other side of the lake. 'That's what he wanted me to do, that's why he told me all about them. If Dumbledore was right - and I'm sure he was -there are still four of them out there. I've got to find them and destroy them and then I've got to go after the seventh bit of Voldemort's soul, the bit that's still in his body, and I'm the one who's going to kill him. And if I meet Severus Snape along the way,' he added, 'so much the better for me, so much the worse for him.'
I am looking forward to the last bits, when he annihilates Tom and Snivellus and for Snapes epitaph to read
“Here lies Severus Snape, traitor, coward, who ironically fell to his own spell”

my favourite part was actually the VERY beginning of PS in chapter one. The way JK describes the dursleys and the way they see all these weird things happening around them is absolutely hilarious! I mean, i have many parts that i love from hogwarts and such, but the beginning is so great in the way it draws the reader in instead of your run-of-the-mill introduction.
Also, some of the emotional and soppy parts capture my heart

I like the part where Ron wakes up saying the spiders want him to tap dance in the second book.
I also like the part where Ron says:'Oi Hermione, you're a girl.'and then she starts getting mad at him and when she says'Just because its taken you three years to notice,Ron,doesn't mean noone else has spotted I'm a girl'.I love the whole Yule Ball chapter in the 4rth book. It's hilarious and so emotional.
I like the part when in the second book Draco calls Hermione a mudblood and Ron tries to curse him but the spell backfires.

Yeah, Nawal, i like the bit when Ron wakes up and says that the spiders want him to tap dance!! And actually it's in the third book.
I also like the bit when Mrs Weasley sends Ron a howler in CoS i think is sooooo funny. I also like the First Task and The Maze in GoF because they are full of action and it is soooo exciting to read them!!

In the first book, Dumbledore is talking to Harry, and he says "Tokens from your friends and admirers." And they talk a bit more then Dumbledore says, "I believe Misters Fred and George Weasley were responsible for trying to send you a toilet, but Madame Promfrey felt it was not hygenic, and confiscated it."
-That made me laugh so hard!!
In the third book- Harry pulled out of the dive, his hand in the air, and the stadium exploded. Harry soared above the crowd, an odd ringing in his ears. The tiny golden ball was held tightly in his fist, beating its wings hoplessely against his fingers.
Then wood was speeding toward him, half blinded by tears; he seized Harry around his neck, and sobbed unrestrainedly into his shoulder. He felt two large thumps as Fred and George hit him; then Angelina's Alicia's and Katie's voices, "We've won the cup, we've won the cup!" Tangled in a many-armed hug, the Gryffindor team sank, yelling hoarsely, back to earth.
Wave upon wave of crimson supporters was pouring over the barriers onto the feild. Hands were raining down of their backs. Harry had a confused impression of noise and bodies pressing in on him. Then he, and the rest of the team, were hoisted on the shoulder of the crowd. Thrust in the light, he saw Hagrid, plastered with crimson rosettes-"Yeh beat em, Harry, yeh beat em. Wait till I tell Buckbeak!" There was Percy jumping up and down like a maniac, all dignity forgotten. Professor McGonagall was sobbing even harder than Wood, wiping her eyes with an enourmus Gryffindor Flag; and there, fighting their way toward Harry, were Ron and Hermione. Words failed them. They simply beamed as Harry was borne toward the stands, where Dumbledore stood waiting with the enormous Quidditch Cup.
If only there had been a dementor around.... As a sobbing Wood passed Harry the Cup, as he lifted it into the air, Harry felt he could have produced the worlds best Patronus.
-I love that part! It made me smile so much, and laugh at Percy! lol!!
Also during Dumbledoresfuneral, I was crying. I loved how J.K. Rowling made Harry feel. Also when Sirius died, I was extremely upset. Thats all I can think of now!!

Ok, i have more:
The part in PoA, the entire timeturner scequence.
Pratically any scene with Dumbledore in it.
Pratically any scene with Snape and Sirius in the same room.
The herbology scene in HBP while Hermione asks Ron to the christmas pasrty.
The lightning struck tower. *sob*
The pensieve scene in OotP
All of PoA (It's my favourite book)
"Books! And cleverness! There are more important things-friendship, and bravery." Hermione Granger, PS.
"Yeah-and lucky Harry doesn't lose his head in a crisis-"There's no wood"
Honestly." Ron Weasley, PS.

Yep, these are my favourites and probably more ...

I always loved the part where Nick receives the letter from Sir Properly-Decapitated Podmore, and when he then meets him at the Deathday Party. I know it's not exactly a classic moment, but I've always found it hilarious.
Other fave chapters include:
-The first one of the series: I especially love the first line -- "Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number 4 Privet Drive, were happy to say that they perfectly normal, thank you very much." I always found that line so expressive -- it tells you so much about the Dursleys' personalities.
- The first one of GOF, especially the scene in the bar where people talk about Frank. In the beginning, no one thinks he's capable of the crime, but by the end of the evening, no one doubts that he's guilty. Great characterization of group processes and how they work, sadly.
I know that my faves are not the most popular choices, but there you go.

Mmh let's see... so many moments and so little time
- My fav that tops everything so far is the raise of the Dark Lord and the scene at the cemetery, absolutely briliant!
- Second: James and Sirius bullying Snivellus
- Third: when Sirius and Lupin meet after all those years and go after Wormtail.
- The battle in the Ministry of Magic
- And obviously any scene with Lucious and Sirius on it

Oh it is just impossible to pick a favorite moment. I guess that is why everyone in here is breaking it up.

I have a few...
*When Snape was throwing a tantrum in PoA after Harry and Hermione freed Sirius. I always thought that would have been such a great scene to put to film if not to see Severus come unglued.
*In OOTP when Neville and Harry are the only two left still fighting the Death Eaters in the Department of Mysteries although Neville's nose was broke, his wand was broke and his legs were jelly crazy. I thought it shows how brave Neville is becoming.
*I just love when Lockhart's memory charm backfires on him...getting his comuppence I thought.
*I loved reading about Dumbledore and Voldemort duelling in the Ministry. It really gave me a sense of how powerful Dumbledore and Voldemort were. Still curious about that spell Dumbledore used on Voldemort that wouldn't kill him but would have been powerful enough to defeat him in that battle.
That should be enough for now. I am doing a reread of the entire series now that it is May in preperation for July's main events so I am sure that I will find more.

St. Mungos in OotP when they all see Neville. Right before Neville leaves with his gran, his mom walks up to him and hands him a droobles gum wrapper. Neville's gran tells him to throw it away, but Neville puts it in his pocket and whispers, "Thanks Mum." I started to actually cry at this. Neville will always be my favorite.

Fred and George setting off all the fireworks and then all the teachers making Umbridge come deal with them! It's so great ~ everything Fred and George do before they take off is awesome!
"Cheers," whispered George, wiping tears of laughter from his face. "Oh, I hope she tries Vanishing them next....They multiply by ten every time you try...."
The fireworks continued to burn and to spread all over the school that afternoon. Though they caused plenty of disruption, particularly the firecrackers, the other teachers did not seem to mind them very much.
"Dear, dear," said Professor McGonagall sardonically, as one of the dragons soared around her classroom emitting loud bangs and exhaling flame. "Miss Brown, would you mind running along to the headmistress and informing her that we have an escaped firework in our classroom?"
The upshot of it all was that Professor Umbridge spent her first afternoon as headmistress running all over the school answering the summonses of the other teachers, none of whom seemed to be able to rid their rooms of the fireworks without her. When the final bell rang and the students were heading back to Gryffindor tower with their bags, Harry saw, with immense satisfaction. a disheveled and soot-blackened Umbridge tottering sweaty-faced from Professor Flitwick's classroom.
"Thank you so much Professor!" said Professor Flitwick in his squeaky little voice. "I could have gotten rid of the sparklers myself, of course, but I wasn't sure I had the authority..."
Beaming, he closed the classroom door in her snarling face.Gotta love the twins and the mayhem they cause!
Cheers!

Just this little dialogue between Harry and Snape in HBP

‘Do you remember me telling you we are only practising
nonverbal spells, Potter?’
‘Yes,’ said Harry stiffly.
‘Yes,

‘There’s no need to call me “sir”, professor.’
I was just so excited when I had red it, that i red it some more times. It's just great !

This I think should have been added to the movie because it is so funny.
GoF when the Weasley's go tp pick up Harry from the Dursely's and Fred and George (don't you just love them) drop the ton tongue toffee accidentally on purpose. The way their facial expression was described, I can totally see mischief in their eyes. I would have loved to see Dudley's large purple tongue flopping about the living room floor. *he he*
You know what part is really great...the mirror of erised. Can't you just feel Harry's sense of longing for his parents, his sense of loss?
You know what part I liked that never made the movie either, was in PoA when Sirius actually got into Harry's dormitory to attack Scabbers.
Enough for now...be back later with more Im sure.

i also love the end of GOF (strange that it's another one from the 4th book. OotP is my fave on whole...) where harry's in the hospital wing and mrs weasley hugs him. so beautiful.
QUOTE
Mrs Weasley set the potion sown on the bedside cabinet, bent down, and put her arms around Harry. He had no memory of ever being hugged like this, as though by a mother. The full weight of everything he had seen that night seemed to fall in upon him as Mrs Weasley held him to her. His mother’s face, his father’s voice, the sight of Cedric, dead on the ground, all started spinning in his head until he could hardly bear it, until he was screwing up his face against the howl of misery fighting to get out of him. –p620
I LOVE this moment, too. It's so sweet and emotional.

That is a great one as well! Makes me laugh every time!
I really love the part in OotP after they come back from the Department of Mysteries. Harry is furious and throwing things around the room and Dumbledore decides to tell him about everything. It's emotional and and intensely charged. It makes me truly feel for Harry and radiates emotion from the pages.
The part where Fred and George cause all that mayhem and take off in OotP is great, too. It's hilarious.
I loved when they were in the cave. It was chilling and intense to see Dumbledore so vulnerable. Things were really building up.
Another part is when Dumbledore had died and Dumbledore's funeral. It was a point where it's just "Wow. Dumbledore is dead. Everyone is mourning and it's really true." The funeral is heartbreakingly sad and makes me cry every time. Everyone's reactions, Harry's thoughts, the phoenix's song, the burst of flame, everything. It was a wonderful and poignant moment.

You can choose just about any Snape and Harry moment. There is a good chance that it would rank on my list of good moments. I positively adore Snape's slick, sarcastic wit. One of my absolute favorites is the "You don't have to call me "sir," Professor."

I loved this line:
"Well Harry, I see once again that you are-"
"Dumbledore's man through and through. That's right."
That made me cry. Along with the one earlier in the book. I don't know the exact wording but here's my best shot:
"You really are Dumbeldore's man through and through."
"Yeah. I am. Glad we got that straightened out."
Loved it. Best moment's in the entire series. Even though the entire series is brilliant!

‘There’s no need to call me “sir”, professor.’Cracks me up everytime I read HBP!
Also this part in OotP after the battle in the DoM, in DD's office. Here's a little snippet of the conversation.'Harry, suffering like this proves you are still a man! This pain is part of being human-'
'THEN - I - DON'T - WANT - TO - BE - HUMAN!' Harry roared, and he seized the delicate silver instrument from the spindle-legged table beside him and flung it across the room; it shattered into a hundred tiny pieces against the wall. Several of the pictures let out yells of anger and fright, and the portrait of Armando Dippet said, 'Really!'
'I DON'T CARE!' Harry yelled at them, snatching up a lunascope and throwing it into the fireplace. 'I'VE HAD ENOUGH, I'VE SEEN ENOUGH, I WANT OUT, I WANT IT TO END, I DON'T CARE ANYMORE-'This part is so sad, he feels so angry and detached from the rest of the world!
You can feel his emotions, and it is a powerful scene!!

I like this topic! It is pretty hard to say which moment is my favorite, because I have so many. Although, I would have to say that my favorite is when Hagrid gets back from Askaban. Hagrid is one of my favorite characters in the books, and it was awesome reading that he got out of prison!
I also like when Umbridge, the old vile hag, gets chased away through the forrest by the centaurs. Serves her right for being so much of a

That is an extremely sad part and I'm quite excited to see how it works out in the movie. To this point, we haven't really seen Dan do any heart renching emotional scenes but there's really no way they can get out of him doing this one. It should be good.

Well, one of my favorite jokes in hp books, when Harry was looking for Dumbledore and met Nick:
"Fantastic," said Harry bitterly, looking around at the hard floor. "Really brilliant. Yeah, I would go and take it up with Dumbledore if he was here, because he's the one who wanted me to —"
"He is here," said a voice behind Harry. "Professor Dumbledore returned to the school an hour ago."
Nearly Headless Nick was gliding toward Harry, his head wobbling as usual upon his ruff.
"I had it from the Bloody Baron, who saw him arrive," said Nick. "He appeared, according to the Baron, to be in good spirits, though a little tired, of course."
"Where is he?" said Harry, his heart leaping,”
"Oh, groaning and clanking up on the Astronomy Tower, it's a, favorite pastime of his —"
I also love the part when Fred and George asks 'Who are fred and i, next door neighbours?

My favourite part is in the deathly hallows in the chapter the 7 potters here is the part i love in it.
The real harry thought that this might be the most bizzare thing he had ever seen, and he had seen some extremely odd things. He watched as his six doppelgangers rummaged in the sacks, pulling out sets of clothes, putting on glasses, stuffingtheir own things away.He felt like asking them to show a little more respect for his privacy as they all began stripping off with impunity, clearly much more at ease with displaying his body than they would have been with their own.

There are so many memorable, hilarious or intense moments that to name just a few would seriously offend those not mentioned. And majority has already been mentioned by the people before me anyway.
But if I am to name my favorite moments, here they come:
Practically any scene in OoTP where Severus and Sirius meet as equal members of the Order. There is always such tension between them. For example, in the scene where Severus tells Harry that he is to teach him Legilimency and Sirius keeps objecting and they both end up face to face with their wands drawn threatening one another. In the final moment Harry flings himself between them and the Weasley family enters the room and sees the scene. Visualizing what Sirius, Severus and Harry in between must look like to them always makes me laugh.
My other favorite moment is the whole cave chapter in HBP. I remember reading it at two in the morning in my kitchen and being glued to the book and to my chair and also being totally frightened. It is the first such a scary, dark and intense chapter in the whole series and I simply love it.

I'd have to agree with MARRYMERUPERT on Longbottom's recieving of 10 points, because in standing up to one's friends, the choice is made that what is RIGHT weighs heavier than the relationship... "...the greater good." It calls for character; not just knowing right from wrong, but actually
doing it. N. Longbottom grew a spine at that moment.
Having said that, I think the NEATEST SCENES are that of when the three of them hid out in a tent for those many weeks. They had to grow up an provide for themselves and use some neat magic.
Then my FAVORITE HEROIC SCENE is when the three flew out of Gringnotts on a dragon just on a whim to get out, not knowing what would happen after. Isn't that crazy. How awesome. What an adventure!

Hmmm... I've lots of favourite moments...
Though one of the most memorable has got to be Ron kissing his..er.. forgot her name..
The one that can't keep her lips off of him.
And his shock of discovering Hermione going out with Victor Krum. Pulling -whatshername- off of him like a suction-cup like sound! ROFL!
Can't find that bit in the book... OotP?
oh! plus the Weasley twin moments.. The toilet seat, and the various ploys against Umbridge..
Come to think of it, I quite liked Ootp.

Only just realised!
