Hope there isn't a poll like this. I didn't see one. What sort of Job would you have in the Magical World?

Ohmygoodness!!
I would LOVE to be a dark-wizard catcher aka an auror. That has got to be the coolest job ever... that and being Headmaster of Hogwarts! You have to work realllyyy hard to become an auror though (right? correct me if not).. s'okay.. 'cause I'm the hardworking-won't stop till she gets it-dedicated type.. it pays off in the end!! If only the wizarding world was real!!

Wouldn't it be so awesome if someone created a virtual reality-type game that allowed people to walk through Hogwarts or wherever you wanted...that'll be like a dream come true. That'll be one hell of a game!

hmm, although i promised myself that i wouldnt become a teacher, this is a special case lol. rowling didnt write much jobs that were available in the wizarding world, so out of these choices, i would choose a teacher. i was considering an auror, but they remind me of police and because i'm just so scared, i wouldnt want to die =\

I would probably be a teacher so I could stay at Hogwarts or failing that I would be Voldemorts evil partner in crime!

I said stay at home. Why do anything differently?

It's just got to be an auror really, hasn't it? Although it is a bit like the police, so I guess it'd be a bit dangerous...but it still sounds pretty cool. Do they have...like...forensic detectives in the wizarding world? 'Cos I'd rather do that...exciting, but you haven't got bullets (or spells) whistling past your earhole all the time, you know?

I'm not sure whether auror or teacher...auror seems cool! You get catch those dark wizard....but I choose teacher instead because I love having this crowd of students who 'oooooohh' and 'aaaaaaahh' at you whenever you did some cool spell or tranfigurate something...

I'd probably be a teacher. I wouldn't want to work with dragons or goblins. I wouldn't want to work at the MoM or stay at home. Teacher was really the only thing left. And it's too dangerous to be an Auror. Besides I could torture kids with homework. *grins evily*

I'd either be an Auror ("They're like the elite") or an Internation Quidditch Player (I'd be a Seeker).

I think I'd be a teacher, and I'd take McGonagall as an example!
I never really wanted to be a teacher, but, like, a teacher AT HOGWARTS...That gives everything a whole new perspective

. Maybe Transfiguration teacher, or potions, or charms. Yeah, that'd be cool...
It'd be a teensy bit too dangerous for me to be an Auror...lol.
If only a world like that existed...snif...sob sob...I'd sooo love to study at Hogwarts! I wouldn't mind the piles of Homework, cause verything would be so interesting! Not like maths, here, or grammar or stuff like that...

Dracoluver.. I bet the ONLY subject you WOULD mind would be "History of Magic" just 'cause Professor Binns is sooo good at being borrrriinnngggg and excellent at being tedious. Heh.
Oohhh, Bellatrix!! I forgot about the Healers... so I'm having conflicting choices... between an auror or a Healer OR a teacher at Hogwarts... I can imagine if this were real!

ooo hard hard hard
Maybe Mr. Weasley's job? Espically if I worked with him, he'd be a nice boss
Im not brave enough to be an Auror, Im horrible at sports so thats means no quidditch and i would be a horrible teacher, they people would learn how to play pranks or summin....

I see myself fighting for the civil rights of magical creatures, promoting peace between various magical creatures and the like.
Auror doesn't sound too shabby either. Neither does a teacher. Maybe I'll teach people to be aurors..
But most likely the whole civil rights thing.

Personally I chose other, mostly because I couldn't choose. I'd love to work in somewhere like Flourish and Blotts or the Apocathery, even in somewhere like Borgin and Bourkes (imagine all the amazing things you'd see!)
The other option for me would be working as a potions master (teaching or not) it is the most familiar thing to my best schollary subjects...English, and Chemistry. Also (sorry I am not making a mockery here) but I am good at cooking (I view in it's most simple form as following a recipie/method)

I like the sound of something similar to Muggle relations. I presume this job would mainly involve a Hagridesque role of guiding Muggles through their first experiences of the Magical world, which would suit me down to the ground.

Hmmm.... I can't really vote on this one. I'd LIKE to say Auror. If I had my choice, that would be it. But then, in the real world, I never tried to be a detective. So who can say? I'm too lazy. I'd probably end up a Stan Shunspike clone. lol. Inventing spells on the side.

I would want to be a mole (thought that would be very dangerous). I would want to work undercover for Dumbledore and be a fake DE at the same time. Though if it had to be a job that I was payed for it would have to be working at the Ministry of Magic (most likely in the Department of Mysteries)

I would definetly be a teacher. but only at Hogwarts. It seems to me that you get almost as much battles against dark wizards as an auror, you also get to meet all the cool kids, aka Harry

I'd do pretty much what I do now, only there would be magic involved, of course.
Me: "Hi, you sent me an owl about your antique textile. I'm here to give you an estimate."
Man (pointing to tapestry on wall): "Right. There it is."
Me: "Yeah, I see the problem. It's got a lot of little burn holes in it. Well, I can definately repair that. If you could tell me what it looked like before the holes that would help with the reconstruction--"
Man: "No, no, I don't want it fixed, I just want it down. It's stuck up there with a Permanent Sticking Charm."
Me (shaking my head): "That's terrible. I'm always telling people to be careful with what magic they use when they adhere their textiles to walls. I can get it down, but I can't guarantee that the Sticking Charm hasn't caused some lasting damage. I can, of course, repair it--"
Man: "Don't bother. Once it's down I'm planning to throw that tapestry away."
Me: "What?!...Throw...But...It's seventh century! You can't just throw it away!"

Yay And you could become really good friends with the Weaslys, if you know what I mean....*wink wink* because if you where around the same age as a least one of them, then you might become friends and then....ahhh
Sorry, I'm just living out my fantasy of marring ron...

Teaching is a noble job. In the wizard world of Jo Rowling, it is one of the most important task, to lead young wizards and witches to the good way, and wisely handle the dark way (DADA).

My first thought was: TEACHER!!!

It would be cool to stay whole year long in Hogwarts, but after a while it would be a bit boring.

Of course teaching is not boring but most of the staff doesnt have any private life, or Jo doesnt write about it, so its a bit hard to imagine being a teacher in holidays or at home. I wonder if they have family
Thats why i voted for Auror. Its kinda adventurous and exciting.
Sorry for my English

In one recent interview, Jo promised to tell more about Hogwarts teachers' family and also why the information was not readily available for the public (protection?). I hope we will know more in book 6.
Dumbledore can be members of several organizations, so apparently Hogwarts teachers can also participate in other activities. Umbridge can be both Ministry worker and Hogwarts teacher. Lockhart can still promote his books, while at Hogwarts. Being a teacher at Hogwarts will also get to know International Wizardry, because of the connection with Beauxbatons and Dumstrang.

Well, before "Order of the Phoenix" I would have gone for Ministry of Magic, but I'm not sure that I would want to be associated with Fudge and his crew anymore...

If the new administration turns out to be any better, I think I'd still go for the Ministry. I think I'd want to join the Committee on Experimental Charms or something like that, something to do with magical law enforcement, but I'm definitely not brave enough to be an Auror. My self-preservation instinct would constantly be getting in the way of my job.
If the new Minister turns out to be lousy as well, though, I think I'd want to work at Gringotts -- do the sort of thing that Bill is up to (errr... that would be, do the sort of thing that Bill was doing in Egypt... not go out with Fleur Delacour!

). It sounds like there's some adventure with that job, and traveling abroad seems like a cool thing for a wizard (or witch, as the case may be) to do.
