I know that everyone was extremely angry at some of the cuts that were made in the fourth film. For instance the elfs, parting of the ways, Bagman, Crouch with the Dementor, the invitation, Dursleys, Weighing of the Wands, Rita Skeeter as a beetle...

Well obviously they can't put some of this stuff in now, but what if some things they added in the fifth film. Would that make you guys mad? Because I actually would love if they explained Crouch, Rita, parting of ways, and Harry giving his money to Fred & George...and I think non-readers deserve that information too. So what do you think?

I agree with you, Veritas, but I think a lot of the things they cut in GoF can easily be explained in a few lines or a short conversation in OoTP. Things like the prize money, Rita the bug, and the parting of the ways can be explined away quickly, though I don't know how convincing it'll be.

Well i definitely agree with Nimbus,some scenes which were cutted in Goblet of Fire should be shown in The order of the phoenix in some short lines.and i wish they don't cut the scenes of The Order of the Phoenix.

i hate it when they cut scenes that you were looking forward to. There are always small details you wish the film would include but thats highly unlikely when they are always cutting out important bits also. I have a friend who doesnt read the harry potter books but only watches the films. She always sits in the cinema staring at us who have read the books, because were all asking the same question "where did that bit go?" I agree that for people who dont read more information should be included in the films. i suppose that would make the films ridiculously wrong.

I agree with Nimbus. But I also think they are just wasting time doing that, something they are very good at. They had so many thing in GoF that didn't have to be there, like the Weasley's fighting. This wasted time could have been replaced with the neccessities that the cut out. And what about that Nigel character??? He wasted about 10 precious minutes! I think OotP is going to be hard to make.

I really hate when they cut stuff! If they cut things out OF this movie i'm going to be soo freakin mad!

If I was the director, I would say "[MOD EDIT] newell" and have the movie continue as if movie 4 included everthing.

I don't care that kids would be confused, these movies should be for the fans. Anyway, movie 4 itself didn't make a lot of sence.

I think that if they added everything, the movie would be 5 hours... POOR ACTORS. But, they should cut out the less important parts instead of the parts that the fans are looking forward to.

It would be cool if the movie producer could maybe ask us fans which bits from the books would be the best to include, obviously they would then get alot of different opinions, but they could then narrow down and round up to the overall best we all like and then we know a majority of the best bits will be included. But aswell, they add in new scenes for cinema value

I agree with ShinyBroomstick that they kind of have to mention the money, if they're going to show the twins leaving. Then again, knowing these movies...

I wish they would at least allude to things that get cut out. Like maybe show Hermione knitting--not in an obvious way, none of the other characters even has to mention it, but people who read the books would know exactly what she was doing, and people who don't read the books probably wouldn't think anything of it.

They'll definitely have to say sometime about Harry giving the money to Fred and George because them having a joke shop is a large detail in future books. They didn't even say anything about the money in the fourth film so hopefully that'll get cleared up in the future. As for other things, I think they need to be careful what they put in the OoTP movie because they already have so much stuff they have to put in it, they can't afford to loose any OoTP detail for GoF stuff that they left out. (I hope all of that made since )

No, if they had to put those thing in that they forgot in GoF there would be so much. But i missed they money to Fred and George. I also missed Dobby to hepl Harry with the second task, and arent we going to see him in the OotP or HBP when it comes that far ?

yah i wouldn't be too mad because if they cut anything outta the 5th it'll be in the 6th and so on and i agree the non-readers would the happeing i think they should have added that harry gave his money to fred and gorge i think it's also important about reta being a beettle

Even though non-readers should be reading the book (Grrr ...lol!) it would be annoying, but not too dramatic enough for me ending up writing a letter of complaint to the director!

So how long is this film going to last? has anyone heard? There was a rumour that the Order was goping to have to be two films but from what i can see it is only going to be one and if they don't cut all the juicy bits out then it will be about 5 hours long

The OOtP movie will be about 2 hours 45 mins long. It would have been much longer but the directors/producers had to cut like 45 mins off of the original film because of film length constraints that they have to abide by. I dunno what exactly was cut in that 45 mins but if it had not been cut then the movie would have been at least 3 and a half hours long.

I read somewhere that they had cut Quidditch (again) and Dobby , and Mariette , and that they were adding a scene where Hermione blasts Ron into a wall at DA,(not in book) and a scene where Hermione and Ron are in a tree and a spider crawls up Rons leg (also not in book)

I get the blasting thing, but in a tree? Why would they be in a tree? That's really stupid, it's got nothing to do with OotP!!!
Why can't they make it two movies?? Then they could keep in everything and we'll all be happy!!!

I know everyone is saying the won't like it, because they are cutting it down heaps, BUT, when has a Harry Potter movie been bad??????? It will be awesome!!! We'll be annoyed in the beginning, because we know things have been cut, but once we get into it, we'll forget about being annoyed and enjoy Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix!!!

Magical Threxxx, they wont make it into two movies because it would completely mess up the advertising and just everything about the movies. I dont know of any good movies that they did that too and i can tell you it will only be one. Its just not practical sadly. Hard core fans would go, but what about people who arent die hards.

I think that the whole Harry giving his money to Fred and george thing is kind of important. I'd be great if it were in the fifth movie. I was also looking foward to Rita Skeeter as a bug and think it's important too.

I also heard some of the things Lil Cougar was saying. Like with an interview or something you see a short clip of hermione blasting Ron into a wall, but it's unedited so you still se the harness and everything. I also saw several posts that announced that Marietta, Quidditch, and Dobby woudn't be in the movie. But the spider crawling up Ron's leg is new to me.

I totally agree!!! My dad isn't a reader and he totally gets confused when he watches the movies and my sister and I talk about how the book was different than the movie. It gets really annoying when nonreaders ask you what's going on sometimes because they don't understand the movie.

I can understand that they don't put everything in the movie. I wouldn't mind it being a 5 hour movie. but not everyone is and avid fan like me. Keep in mind that they are trying to make money from the movies. And yes it can get confusing especially if you didn't read the books some of my friends get really confused and i end up having to literally explain the whole book to them pain in the butt ( i no longer take those friends to see the movies).Ugh and it really sucks when a scene you were looking forward to gets cut. Its a real pain in the butt. So I guess ill have to settle for my imagination.

I think there is a good possibility that some of the "parting of the ways" section will be included, I read an article about the filming, where the producers mentioned that they required snow capped mountains for a scene at the begining of the movie.

For a long time I couldnt imagine where these came into play, as in the book the first chapters take place in Little Whinging, during a heat wave and a drought. Then recently on re-reading the book, I came accross the section of Hagrids tale, where he travels to the mountains to pursuade the giants to join the order. perhaps this is how they start the film?

Yeah, I thought they actaully did an excellent job on the forth movie, it was amazing! Sure, they did cut out a few things but I'm more concerned about the (somewhat) sloppy job on the third movie. Okay, so that was a little harsh but they didn't mention anything about Harry's father and the gang... I'm just pondering about how in the world they will actually manage to get that into the future movies! I was so upset with that!
