Full Version: What 3 Questions Would You Like To See In The Faq Poll?
Veritaserum Forums > General > All About JK Rowling
Velvet
I think that it is coming up to nearly a year until the 7th book is apparently due out (07/07/07) so I guess that mean that there may be a new FAQ poll soon (hopefully, everything crossable is crossed)

and I'm sure that after reading HBP we all have many questions that we are dying to ask

so I was wondering what everyone was hoping would be included as the 3 (I think its 3 questions) that you get to vote to be answered

- or which questions are likely to come up because I know that there are certain questions like 'will harry die' that she will refuse to answer.

Thanks for answering tongue.gif
El Barto
What about...'Are you JK Rowling?...Really?...Really?

Just messing...

Personally, I wouldn't mind knowing if Regulus is RAB, if the locket in Grimmauld Place is a Horcrux, and what exactly is the connection between Harry and Voldemort (I've settled on that Phantom Death Theory of mine laugh.gif ).

However, I don't think these questions would be answered because not as many people would read the books...I think.

I'll think of actual questions that can be answered later biggrin.gif

...Who is Number 2 Working for?
Velvet
I know what you mean, I have lots of questions that I would love to ask her but none of them are likely to be answered sad.gif,

like at the moment I am currently obsessed with 'who will develop magic late in life' (I thinks the late refers to someone who is dead, not older) - so I'd love to ask her that,

I like your question about the connection between Harry and LV (although I did get a little confused reading the theory - I'm hopeless tongue.gif) so I'll steal that question smile.gif

and erm...oooo theres so many perhaps the significance of the veil or ooo the numerous questions about RAB and the locket or ooo the significance of dumbledores' petronus and pet being a phoenix and indeed the phoenix that gave the feathers for LVs and Harrys' wands or....I could go on for hours - this is harder than I thought

I think that one question she would answer is one that *Rachel* put forward about Moaning myrtle:
http://www.veritaserum.com/forums/index.ph...wtopic=7868&hl= (I hope she doesn't mind me linking to her questions - I just thought it was a good one and one that JK Rowling may answer)
just because I thought that it was wierd that perhaps ghosts could still be long/short sighted

or, after everything that has happened, does that mean that the HBP's potions book will be forgotten and left in the Room of Requirement (with all the rest of the incriminating stash) perhaps for someone else to find (ok not very likely that this is important but I desperate tongue.gif)

ladybear1515
How bout
1) What is the 4th unknown horocrux from ravenclaw/gryfidor?
2) Who's gunna die?
3)Title

Hey one can hope!!! wink.gif
Mrs Moony
Although she wouldn't answer I think we all really want to know Dumbledore's reasons for trusting Snape.I agree with ladybear1515 that it would be good to know the title-that would let the theories and speculation commence happy.gif which we all love. But what I really can't wait to find out is the significance of Lily's eyes-would be great to see that in the FAQ poll.Isn't going to happen though dry.gif
To be honest though we all say we want to know these big secrets but I'm sure we'd all rather wait and cling on to our theories for a while-until JK destroys them laugh.gif
Hermione_Resilda
Of course I want to know if Regulus is really R.A.B., and if Harry will find all the Horcruxes, but those will be answered in the seventh book, so what I really want to know is what Snape's boggart is. I remember her saying that it's important, but she might have forgotten to actually include that in the seventh book, though I hope not. Anyway, hope that's one of them.
El Verte Veritas
1. Many fans have noticed symbology and patterns in the Harry Potter books, is there any certain pattern or symbols you use in your books or are these by mere coincidence?
2. What were the two things that Slughorn used Felix Felicis for?
3. Have any other characters created Horcruxes?
chocobeer
three questions i'd like to be answered or at least see in the FAQ poll at jkr's are:

1. Did Remus Lupin ever love Lily, but gave him up for James?

2. How did James and Lily come together? (i want this answer only if she doesnt answer it in future books biggrin.gif )

3. Did Sirius ever fall for a girl like James fell for Lily?

i know i'm centered on the Marauders! but i just love those naughty and interesting three guys...of course, i was so hurt by peter's actions, that i personally, dont count him as a Marauder any longer! mad.gif

Oo thats a good one, actually they're all good - I too would love to know more about the marauders. Jk Rowling seems to be treating their era a bit like advent calender chocolate - small amount that wet your appetite for more.

I'd be especially interested in the Sirius lovelife one - because hes' my favorate character and I have to admit that most the fanfic I read concerns sirius shipping tongue.gif

I'd love for JK Rowling to tell us more about those three marauders

(?SPOILER HBP?)

Hi I am new here.

And I would really like to know more about James Potters background. We never hear anything about his side of the family. Who are Harrys Grandparents, did James have any siblings, cousins etc. What did his parents do? What happened to the Potter family? Since Harry saw the in the mirror of erised I was wandering, they cant all be dead, or can they. And if they are, what did they do when they were still alive? Surely there must be somebody out there still related to Harry, even if only distantly???

The other thing I was musing about was could Harry himself be Voldemorts Horcrux??? I mean it was already clear, that they have a special connection caused by that backfired curse, but could it possibly be, that while VM tried to finish Harry off as a baby, that he accidently or even knowingly created a horcrux within Harry himself. That would certainly explain the prophecy, or would it?

Also I would like to know, do wizards live naturally longer then muggles? By my calculations Hagrid (and VM - he doesnt really count though because of the whole immortality thing) by now is nearing the 70s and you never hear him complaining of old age... Dumbledore was already an old man 50+ years ago (did he take a swig of old nick flamels life juice?). How old is Dumbledore?

Thats it for now - any thoughts appreciated..

mmeHooch.
vortext
True or not? *spoiler alert*

What would Prof. McGonagall see in the Mirror of Erised?

Do the characters appear in your dreams?

Fore!
HPFan792
I guess i would like to know
1)What RAB stands for?
2)Who are the two characters that are going to die?
3)Is snape good or evil?
Fall_out_Girl
1) i would like to know what RAB stands for.
2)whats the title gonna be?
3)which characters will die in the end?
bajab
How about something a bit different to the usual 'run of the mill' questions?

1) How can she be convinced to continue the HP series?

2) How can she be convinced to authorise other people to produce HP universe books - like anthologies written by other famous Fantasy authors for instance?

3) How can she be convinced to allow something like a television series based on Hogwarts/Harry Potter universe?

Ok, make that very different smile.gif

Long Live the Weasel King!
1. How do the Unspeakables in the Department of Mysteries use the Veil to study death?

2. What are the brains in the DoM used for, and did the one that came in contact with Ron have any effect other than scarring his arms?

3. Will you buy me a pony?
Velvet
QUOTE
3. Will you buy me a pony?

biggrin.gif , Darn you - I actually did hurt myself when aughing at that tongue.gif

Ah the brains room, thats a very good question - I had completely forgotten about those (and with all the crackpot theories I come up with, I'm quite surprised that I haven't had them involved in something dramatic and equally bizarre tongue.gif ). You do realise that I'm going to be thinking about that for at least the rest of the day tongue.gif

QUOTE
Also I would like to know, do wizards live naturally longer then muggles?

Thats another good one that I hadn't thought about

Even though I started this thread, I'm still finding it really hard to think up questions that I'd like to ask that she would actually be willing to answer *scratches head for another five minutes* - no, still nothing sad.gif

Although my obsession about 'who will develop magic late in life' remains tongue.gif, does the 'late' imply some who is dead? - maybe not. I'll stop now before I turn this into 'who will develop magic late in life' thread

I suppose my second question wuld be about the objects in the RoR when Harry hid his Potions book just beg and plead for more Marauder era information

It must be coming up to the time that we get a choice of FAQ questions *fidgets in chair*, I've been looking at the secret keeper one now for just too long, but I suppose I'll let her off (this once tongue.gif) if it means more time spent on book 7 smile.gif

naeem1986
well i would like to know

1. what about ellen prince (Snape's Mother) was she related to LV,,

2. Whom did LV love in his school life ,,, he must have had a crush on someone

3. Like LV the Heir of Slytherine who is the real Heir of Gryffindor, can it be potters or Dumbledore

we have james as pure blood dont we ??
Uglybaldboy
What i would want to know...

1) Some spells require focus on negitive emotions, such as Crucio and AK, but only one focuses on positive emotions, the patronus charm. Are there any other spells that require focus on positive emotions, such as joy, compassion or LOVE?

2) How did Hagrid find his way to Godrics Hollow to pick up Harry and still not know that Wormtail was the secrete keeper? And is this what took so long (missing day)?

3) If the MoM can find out instantly that an underage wizard/witch is performing magic and what spell they are using (but not if they live with other wiches/wizards); why can they not spot the Unforgivable Curses instantly and send in the Aurors?

But really...do I want to know????? unsure.gif shutup.gif
Long Live the Weasel King!
The question of whether wizards live longer than muggles has already been answered, though I don't remember where. In the books though, we know that LV was at school 50 years prior to the beginning of the story, and at that time D was already well into middle age. I believe JK has said that he is somewhere around 150 and McGonagall is 70. Also, Hagrid was at school at that time, and he in no wise has been described as old, or even old looking.

1. I really don't know where that question came from. There's nothing that even remotely points in that direction in the text, except for people saying all of the "pure-blood" families are related to some extent or another. If you mean, "Was Eileen Prince V's niece" or something, then I'd say most likely not.

2. No one. We know that because JK has said that V has never loved anyone nor been loved by anyone. That is what makes him particularly vulnerable to the effects of love.

3. Must there be an Heir of Gryffindor? I don't see why there should be, yet this theory persists stubbornly. The Heir of Slytherin was only important because Slytherin himself made a prophecy that his "Heir" would return to finish his "work". No one else made any such statements to our knowledge, so there is no reason to assume that the "Heirs" of any of the other founders will come into play at all. For all we know Gryffindor has a thousand Heirs.

QUOTE(Uglybaldboy)
2) How did Hagrid find his way to Godrics Hollow to pick up Harry and still not know that Wormtail was the secrete keeper? And is this what took so long (missing day)?

That is a good question. One possible answer could be that Hagrid was already privy to the secret, though I believe it is said that absolutely no one knew except Wormtail. Another possible answer could be that once the Potters were killed and the house destroyed there was simply no secret left to keep.

As for the "missing day" there is no "missing day." We know that V attacked late at night on Holloween. We know that the next day people began celebrating all over the country. We know that shortly after dark D appeared on Privat Drive and shortly after that Hagrid appeared on a flying motorcycle.

The Dursleys live near London. Godric's Hallow could be anywhere, but I'm guessing its somewhere in northern Scotland, like the School. We know that the Hogwart's Express takes many hours to get from Platform 9 3/4 to Hogsmeade, and just as long for a flying car to make the journey, so it probably takes just as long or longer for a flying motorcycle to do the same. The "missing day" is in reality no more than travel time.
After the Burial
Weasel King, how do you know Hogwarts in is northern Scotland? I don't disagree, but you do you know that it is there? Thank you for mentioning the travel time. I have always been surprised that no one else noticed that Hagrid couldn't travel that quickly.
Long Live the Weasel King!
Hmmm . . . How did I know that? wacko.gif

I can't seem to remember. . . Maybe it was mentioned in GoF when Hermione is telling them about where the various schools are, or perhaps it is on JK Rowling's Official Site somewhere . . . If anyone else remembers where that's at perhaps they could post it. I think it's definately on JKR.com somewhere, but that site bugs me . . . (No Forum! tongue.gif )
Uglybaldboy
Thanx Weasel King

JKR once said in an interview that she always imagined Hogwarts as being in Scotland, and it would take the good part of a day to get from London to Scotland.

All I thought about with the missing time was that 1) Dumbledore had to do some spell to override the secret keeper charm (unlikely) or 2) Dumbledore was given a note by Wormtail, similar to Harry's in OotP, but Dumbledore didn't destroy it but kept it safe and had to go and show it to Hagrid. Maybe Dumbledore had the key to the Potters volt at Gringotts before they died and the letter and invisability cloak was in there??

But i agree, if Godrics Hollow is a great distance from Privite Drive then the travel would account for the time. But I always imagine Godrics Hollow to be in Wales, but we'll find out soon enough (or maybe not soon enough!)
runslow
All these are pretty cool questions. What I'd like to know is..

1. Did Snape make an unbreakable vow with Dumbledore after the Potters were killed, to either protect Harry with his life, or do whatever Dumbledore asked of him, with regard to Harry? (This would explain why, under Dumbledore's orders, Snape killed Dumbledore.)

2. Is the person who develops magic late in life the caretaker? We know he's a squib and is the most unlikely, but perhaps there might be some humour around his developing magical abiliites.

3. Now that Dumbledore has sacrificed himself for Draco, does Draco now have the same protection that Harry did?

Runslow

Well, I could only come up with one question. It's one that's been niggling at me for a while. Who did Neville see die? He was one of the students who raised his hand when Hagrid asked who could see the thestrals. Maybe he was there when his parents were tortured, but that wouldn't count, as they weren't actually killed, so who's death did he witness?
I did actually come up with a few more, but they have already been mentioned, so I won't repeat them. biggrin.gif
Triad
Neville saw his Grandad die. He says so in OOtP. In the 'The Eye of the Snake' chapter, page 397.

Here's an extract with Umbridge asking him:

QUOTE
"You can see the Thestrals, Longbottom, can you?' she said.
Neville nodded.
"Who did you see die?" she asked, her tone indifferent.
"My...my grandad," said Neville
Velvet
wow, there are so many good questions, I completely forgot about this thread with all thee exitement about the door opening - so hopefully, fingers crossed for a changed in the FAQ poll soon *starts rubbing rabbits feet and shamrock frantically* tongue.gif

yey someone else who is baffled by that particular issue (I really really do want an answer to that, I am considering bribery - do you think she likes hocolates? smile.gif )

Have you nipped over to the thread about that issue (tries to cover up blatent plugging of own thread butfails miserably) - http://www.veritaserum.com/forums/index.ph...c=10208&hl= - I think that at the moment the two most agreed upon cadidates are Figg (due to her name meaning 'secret' and her maintained reappearance/mentions throughout the series, or Filtch for humour value and because of the course, I even managed to argue mysel out of the idea that it could be the 'late' Sirius Black (or DD before J Rowlings' statement about him being completely dead sad.gif )

QUOTE
3. Now that Dumbledore has sacrificed himself for Draco, does Draco now have the same protection that Harry did?

wow, I really like that question, it would stand to reason given the 'sacrifice element' although it ould be argued about the different types of love or sacrifice - Oo I really don't know, Can I steal that question and add it to my list, given that I haven't actually managed to come up with 3 definite questions yet (apart from the 'late magic' one)

i'm completely in two minds, I want there to be another FAQ poll, but I also don't want to take time away from her book/children (ok mostly the book, because I am selfish tongue.gif )

Oops! Guess I missed that, thanks for clearing it up for me, Triad. biggrin.gif
Well, as I said before, the other questions I had have already been mentioned, so I won't repeat them.

EDIT: I just thought of something I would like to ask. If someone has already posted this, and I've just missed it, I'm very sorry. So the question is: Is the Hog's Head Bartender Dumbledore's brother (I know alot of people seem to be taking it for granted that this is "Fact", but JKR has never actually said in any of the books that this is so.) We'll probably find out for sure in book 7, I guess
Long Live the Weasel King!
Three more questions:

1. What is the spell which hit Sirius and pushed him through the Veil?

2. Why haven't you ever given much insight into the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff Houses?

3. And, as ever: Will you buy me a pony?
Velvet
I still think that the Pony question is my all time favorite question, and may even protest outside her house to get it added to the poll tongue.gif. I love reading your posts, you always make me laugh (although I should probably choose to wait to read them until I am home, and not in the library - there were quite a few 'looks' at my chortling )

Andi (my better-half) came up with this question, and although I initially thought it was unlikely, he's now gone and got be thinking, darn him smile.gif

Given that Tonks abilities, is it possible that she has played some fundamental role (or even back ground role) in previous book, under the guise of someone else - to be honest, I can't for the life of me think of where this could have occurred, but he does have a sort-off point, that she could have been anyone that we were informally introduced to briefly throughout the series

Also, since Remus is a werewolf, would this automatically stop he from being able to [perform an animagus spell (I understand that he didn't, and that the primary purpose of the other three marauders attaining the skill was to aid him through his transformations)< but if he could would it be a wolf? and could this possible help him somehow through his transformations, or can the body only tolerate one type of animal transformation?

and as always...who is the person who will develop magic late in life (finger crossed for my unlikely-sirius theory smile.gif )

Mr. Mojo Risin'
I'd like to know
1. an explaination of the veil
2. More about the marauders
3. and, of course, If she'll but me a pony. (of course, my pony is a ford mustang..)

I know they're not really questions, but any questions surrounding the subject would suit me.
HaRRYPoTTeR FReaK
1. An explanation about the veil. (That's just too good to pass up!)
2. THE question: Did Snape love Lily?
3. More, MUCH MUCH MORE, about our lovely Marauder mates! woot.gif
Moon(I luv you Luna)
Let's see ... there's so many i would want to ask! But my main three would have to be:

1: Will DH last longer than a year, or will it be like all the others?

2: Will we find out more about the other houses and founders?

3: Are any of the big theories going round (Eg. The Chess theory, the sibbling theory) even close as to what might happen?

I know these are random questions, but it's the little things that bother me because i know JKR would never answer big questions like is Snape evil?

So yeah. happy.gif
Krissy15
Okay, this may seem like a stupid question. . .but i have been trying forever to locate the FAQ poll on her website. . .but i can never find it! It is really irritating me! Can someone please point me in the direction of where it is? Thank you. . .
MsLupin21
1)What are Snape's boggart/ patronus?
2)Was Lily involved with anyone before James? If so, who?
3)What are the other reasons Dumbledore had for trusting Snape?

Those have been bugging me for a while....sigh....i wish the 7th book were here biggrin.gif
Readn Tween the Lines
My three questions are:

1. Why was Dumbledore the only wizard LV was scared of?

2. Why did Lupin have "Professor R. J. Lupin" in peeling letters on his suitcase - was he a teacher before?

3. Why does Dumbledore consistently refer to Aunt Petunia as Lily only surviving relative, leaving out Dudley (and Harry)?

I can't find it either! Maybe it's only there when it's time to have the poll... but where is "there"?

My three questions are:

2. Why did Lupin have "Professor R. J. Lupin" in peeling letters on his suitcase - was he a teacher before?

This is interesting, I hadn't noticed... I do hope DH goes in depth of Lupin, he's such a nice dark and twisty character... happy.gif

Ok, my three questions... Well, just one for now:

1. How many of Voldemort's horcruxes are still intact?

This question is supposed to settle out: whether RAB managed to destroy/invalidate the locket, whether V got to making all 6 of them and whether when he re-assumed his body he used any of the horcruxes.
seachell
i think it is under the rumors but im not for sure ..my main question would be will she write a book after dh about the founders or even the potters
seachell
psychoticinferno
1. Will hufflepuff gain glory that has been denied them for centuries in the final book?
2. Is the fact that Dumbledore has never once said lily's name significant. (look through all of your old books, I did)
3. What charms did aberforth perform on goats that the ministry thought inappropriate?

seachell, she has already stated that if she does this last book right, then a separate book, or a prequel will not be necessary.

It would be enjoyed but I agree it wouldn't be necessary to the story.
give_dobby_clothes
I would like to know a lot of stuff. I think it would be interesting to read a book about The Marauders time at Hogwarts. How could we persuade her to write it??
DeSs
I don't know wheter somebody has wodered that, so there are my questions for the F.A.Q.s:

*Once Harry was no longer an Horcrux, ¿can he still speak Parseltongue?
*Where would go food when you vanish it by Evanesco?
*And due to the fact that an Horcrux must to be destroyed with something so powerful, something beyond the self-repair (I think it said), how's that the Horcrux-Harry died only by Avada Kedavra?
emma_rupert_dan
3 questions aren`t enough for me smile.gif)
DeSs
I'm so foolish, sorry ... my question about vanishment has been answered in the book! That happens because I've read it only once, and I'm a very dreamy kind of person ... Before I read it, though, I figured that it must be something like that. And about the last one, JK has already answered it on her site, the answer was love, despite it's not a substance, I expect ...
harryjpotter
Questons I would love to see there:

1. Why do wizards get a watch when they come of age?

2. What happened to Umbridge and the remaining death eaters?

3. What did they do with Voldemort's body?

acidpop
I agree with harryjpotter, I'd like to know what they do with the Dark Lord's body. I do hope they gave him a proper burial.

Another thing I would like to know is if Harry is actually straight. I'm not sure I buy that. I could totally see him marrying Ginny being a cover up.
