I thought Trelawny was always wrong!! She only got the phrophesy and what she said to Harry about Sirius etc right. Everything else she comes out with is a load of rubbish (presumebly). Look at all the mumbo jumbo she got Lavender andparvati to believe. Didnt DD say that she basically has no real powers but humours her Because she got the phrophesy that once? Im not sure where that was, sorry.

yes like LauraLupin says above, trewlaney is almost always wrong! u dont need to find this to prove she talks rubbish, shes famous for getting so much so wrong!
the only times she is successful is when she makes the prophecies and even then she doesnt know shes doing it and doesnt remember afterwards!

The other way of looking at this could be that Trelawney was right and DD is not really dead. Just a thought!

Just as a point to show Trelawney also predicted the reunion of Voltemort and Petter Pettigrew. This was in the 3rd book, Poa. So that gives her 2 right but that doesn't make her amazing just connected.
With the seat of 13 at the table I do believe that it is of unplanned death and that Dumbledore actually had a say in when he died and that he and Snape discussed this as a possibility to save Draco since Dumbledore won't let harm happen to his students if he can help it even if it means his death.

I think this discussion is better suited in the existing thread on Trelawney's abilities. I'm merging the two then.
Please could I ask that a search be done before opening new topics, because we don't allow duplicates. Thanks!

She does get many things right, but she often misinterprets what she predicts so it seems she is wrong. For example, with the "grim." She interpres Harry's getting the dog figure as a bad omen, but the correct interpretation would have been Sirius. She got the prediction right but said this was bad for Harry when it should have been interpreted as a good thing for him.

Trelawney is an old fraud and she couldnt even make a prediction for Umbridge in HPOOP!(git) it is a pure coincidence and like Hermione said when she asked Parvarti if Binky her rabbit was old and Parvarti said ''No he was a baby'' how could she have been dreading it? anyways Binky didnt die exactly on the date that Trelawney said that ''The thing you are dreading will soon pass'' Parvarti had just gotten the news that day!

Good point. She also predicted 2 (?) prophecies. She also said in PoA that Parvarti was it? should fear a "red headed man". AKA Ron. In HBP Ron started dating Lavender, her best friend, and they started to hang out less and less.
I believe that though she
SEEMS phony, she actually has some good facts in her.

it is possible that most of trelawney's predictions are partly correct, what is wrong is the way she interprets them. she seems to like to focus on despair and sadness and of course, death. she may not be a total fraud, bur she's not completely genuine either.

I think for the most part she is an old fraud, but when she gets her trance on...look out. We only know about the 2 trance-like predictions, but could there have been others? Maybe DD has witnessed some that we don't know about, sure would like some time in his pensive.
