I wonder if they will just keep the old actress who played Lavender? A lot of people have said she isn't pretty enough though, so who knows whether there will be a recasting.

are you sure you're not thinking of Parvati? (and Padma) They're dark but JKR doesn't say what Lavender's like ! If you're thinking of Harry's date to the Yule Ball then that was Parvati.
No apparently they didn't renew the old Lavender's contract so they're re-casting. I don't even remember what she looked like in the other ones.

I didn't know that they hadn't renewed her contract. That's pretty interesting, I wonder if they are going to put a white girl in here place. That would be kinda weird since she was a black girl before...it's like Micheal Jackson!!!

I do remember that Lavender is supposed to be black. I believe that the website - Lexicon - also states this. I also know that Lavender's character has been played by a black actress - sorry, I don't know her name. Not particularly pretty, but she may change by the time HBP is filmed. It will be very interesting to see if the character will be portrayed as white in HBP-the movie.

As for Padma and Pavarti, the roles are played by girls who are not related to each other but are of Indian (India) heritage, or perhaps Persian. But, the actresses are not black.

Ah, yes this is true that Jennifer Smith plays Lavender in the first three films but she is NOT playing her in the HBP.

J K Rowling has never described Lavender fully. It doesn't say she's black. Anywhere! (I don't think so anyway!!) Just because Jennifer Smith was black I don't think it means that the next Lavender has to be black.

Casting doesn't close on Tuesday. I don't think so anyway....stick to more accurate info like VTM or Mugglenet or WB. They'll know what is ACTUALLY happening.

I personally think that they will make an age ban, because it would be strange for a 13yr old girl playing a 16/17 year old, also the actress would have to 'snog' someone much older than herself.

Well she is in the same year as the trio so the actress would have to be a similar age to them or at least look the same age plus she will have to kiss Rupert and he will be like 18/19 so I'm thinking the same as you 02feganj

i think *hope* that they will let younger people in if they look older. They are only supposed to be 15/16 so i don't reckon they'll be letting 18 year olds try out.

it depends when a director is named. If its soon then it wil prob be around september becuase lots of people will be out the country in August, though it could start in june so its all out the way before OotP comes out and before everyone goes on hoilday
