I've noticed something, I've cried in nearly all my favorite movies. Like, Pirates three, I mean the end is happy in a really sad way, and when I thought he was going to stay dead, that was really scary, cause I started watching those movies because of him. Although, I have to say, they're all pretty attractive people, like all of them. I did hate the Notebook, by the way, probably because I'm not a chick flick person at all. I cried when Mulder got abducted at the end of season seven, and I'm too scared to watch season eight cause that'll mean I'm close to the end, forever! Although I will cry when the movie comes out in July, cause that's going to be another step closer to the end, forever! I cried in HP, LOTR, the Tenth Kingdom when they're reunited. I think I like love stories in a bigger plot, cause by themselves, romances are really icky. But within a larger context, they're awesome! I cried in LOST when they say he died, cause he really didn't, he's a hobbit! They live forever, right? But, generally, if I cry its because I get emotionally attached, which only happens in good movies, or movies where I can, you know, get attached. Ok, 30 Days of Night might be an exception, but it's really scary, and when Josh Hartnett who is attractive for the first time in my life has to die to save them, that is sad.

QUOTE(Pawprint)
Lately, I have been crying with every movie I watch! I don't know what got into me but I get so easily touched...

This is what I am calling the Twilight effect. Reading those books makes you so emotionally charged, that everything remote sad/happy envokes the power of those emotions. Before Twilight these emotions were pretty much stable and it's now like someones turned to on switch to it's highest setting!

I cried at Juno, but I was laughing very hard!
rach2603
yer i cried at HP 4 when cedrics dad is screaming

but worst is PS i loveyou- i mean i absolutly balled my eyes out over the book! and i was snivelling at the movie
i was going to go with a group of mates but only one could go in the end- my ex and we had ended on quite bad terms
and i was like woah as he started tearing at the begining when whats his face behind the bar says 'nice' when he finds out he was killed by a brain tumour (my ex hadnt read the book)

and he walked out about 10 mins later cring
he then told me he had a brain tumour and needed tests to see if it was cancerous the film is good but i cant watch it without thinking of him (it wasnt cancer and he had most of it removed and is okay)

also i cried at that movie as swank acting reminded me of someone who had recently lost her fiance and she was in the same state

Um, yes, I have cried in a lot of movies. I used to think my mom was crazy when she cried during a movie or book, but now I'm starting too as well. Titanic got to me, as did Bridge to Terabithia. (Did I spell that remotely close to correct?) I know I've cried during lots of other movies, but none of them are coming to mind.

I didn't really cry during the death scenes in the hp movies. With the fourth one, I felt bad, but I didn't cry. The fifth one, with Sirius's death, was entirely too cheesy afterward, with the slow motion, dramatic music, and Harry screaming into nothingness. But that's just me.
cristipotter
I cried in Schindler's List. No, I didn't cry...I bawled, seriously it was so heartbreaking and touching. I think that's one of the movies I've cried in the most in my life, and my sweater ended up soaked tongue.gif It just hurts so much watching how it was like back then for them (and I know it was probably worse).

A movie that I expected to get me but absolutely didn't was P.S I love You. I don't know, I thought it wasn't even a good movie. The sweet parts were overdone, and I can't believe someone would find getting letters from the dead romantic, I think it is hurtful and a bit morbid. sleep.gif But that's just me.
browneyedgirl
there have only been 3 movies to make me cry..
1. Bambi (when i was little, and Bambi's mother died)
2. Titanic
3. Bridge to Terabithia

..other than that, i dont think there have been any other movie that has made me cry.
and cristipotter, i totally get what youre saying with P.S. I Love You. before i watched it, everyone was like "oh, its such a sad movie, i was crying from the start to end, you'll be crying your eyes out." and when i watched it, i didnt. i get it was a touching movie, but i just didnt cry. and same with The Notebook. everyone was prepping me up to cry my eyes out, and i just didnt. i dont know why.
partygirl10780
I don't cry in movies but I only did in one with my cousin. I cried in the movie Ladder 49 when the firefighter died and the funeral was happening, that part was so sad! Me, my 2 cousins and my brother were all watching it in my basement and all of us except my brother were all crying a little, we wen't crying really bad though.
Animechic12
Alot of movies make me cry especially
Titanic
A walk to remember
Selena
Bridge to terabithia and ect.
Crazedd Redneckk
I have never cried in a movie. Like when something sad happens my throat gets really dry. I hardly cry anyways. Im just not that emotional. (myabe its the fact that im a guy? i dont know)

Andrew
Lulu-lolo
3 years ago I hadn't cried in a movie, but these last years I have become more emotional. The first movie I cried to was "A walk to remember". It was really embarrasing because it was in a German class. But we were 5 girls who cried so you get the picture. (The fact that you are a guy Andrew makes the difference. I know no guys who have cried to A walk to remember)
Then I cried to "Forest Gump" wich is also my favorite movie.
Ehm, and Elaine, I have experienced the twilight effect. I cried at "Ladder 49", not a movie that would usually get to me like that, Twilight has just brought it up in me!
etphonehome
Oh Gawd, don't even get me started on AWalk To Remember. I only have to hear that song by Mandy Moore and I'm a gonna!

I actually did cry at PS. I Love You. It was a forgone conclusion really seeing what it was about.

I cried at Sunshine the other day, and I know it's not a movie but I was watching re-runs of Smallville today and the one where Jonathon Kent dies gets me too...yet I wasn't too fussed when Lana died first!! blink.gif
James, Lily, & Albus Severus
I'm a sucker for happy endings, so i "cry" a lot. Its not break down in tears crying, just one or two escaping before i sniff and try not to let enyone notice, cuz you can always tell when ive been crying. i hate letting people know my weaknesses, so i'm surprised i'm even posting this...

here are a cpule of recent movies that made me "cry"...

1.POTC 3...the whole will/liz thing...
2. HP 5 ...duh!
3. Penelope...really weird, but it was a really cheesy movie with a really cheesy ending...so yeah
4. Game Plan...omg dont laugh...the whole my aunts dead thing and then her mother really was...
5. i never actually saw Becoming Jane...i dont hink i can unless im by myelf...cuz the trailers made me cry cuz i knew how it was gonna end...

just anything about romance makes me tear up... wub.gif

Lord of the Rings has always made me cry...just everything about the movie...

I cried a lot watchin little kid movies...but that was cuz i was scared...MOST of the time!! biggrin.gif lol...

so yeah, i'm a little sentimental.. unsure.gif ...but hey better that bein a rock...so dont laugh. biggrin.gif
Lulu-lolo
See, that is the weird thing. I never cried for a movie as a child. I never cried at Bambi or at Titanic. But now, it seems like the "gates" are open. And yeah, I had forgot about Becoming Jane. I felt my eyes water at that too! So did the Pirates of the Caribbean. I stayed in the cinema after the rollings and saw the "extra" scene. That just did it for me
reaves.teffany
haha. I have one for you to laugh about crying about!? MEET THE BROWNS. But let me explain why... I dont know when i love the endings where people come together, and they realize they cant live without the other. yeah. that is me! haha. i love that whole moment. and yes i like so many others cried the first time i saw a walk to remember. it is one of my favorite movies. wub.gif

i think i have cried in ps i love you too. that is the best romance movie i have ever seen! love it! biggrin.gif i think it is funny that someone cried in lord of the rings, and harry potter. haha. not picking on you! i see lotr as a adventure story. but anyways... yeah that is usually the only reason i cry in a movie. it has to really get me! haha. wink.gif
James, Lily, & Albus Severus
reaves.teffany: i know...Lord of the Rings...odd! the first time i saw it i cried when Frodo had to leave...it was like:

rolling credits...me: sniff*... sniff*...
a couple of my friends: ...are you ...CRYING?! blink.gif
me:...sniff*...no...sniff*
my friends:...okaaayy...
my best friend: ...sniff*...
my friends:...YOU TWO?
my best friend:...YESSS!...sniff*
me and my best friend: ...*hugging each other*...its just so sad!!!

so yeah....it got me!
reaves.teffany
haha that is funny! I can see why that would make you cry though. So I understant! haha. I think I cried in the MEET THE BROWNS either A: The Emotion I talked about earlier or B: I was the only white girl in the theater, which i for some reason hilarious but nervous at the same time. haha. im not racial or anything but it was funny. It was also funny cus my friend that was with me was mexican! haha. tongue.gif It was a great movie though. I liked DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN too. I think i criend in that one too. haha. i am such a sap sometimes! haha.
alkisti
I'm two years late but better late than never, right? tongue.gif

Anyways, I watched PS I love you last night. I'm a huge cry baby when it comes to movies. But I swear I've never cried so much before! Every time they showed Gerry I couldn't help it but cry and feel so sad that he was gone. And imagine that I had read the book! I guess that's why they say that one picture is a thousand words. wink.gif Now I'm obsessing about the movie, I want to watch it again, and again, and again. And obsessing about Gerard Butler, but that's a whole other issue. PS I love you was definitely one of the best movies to be made out of a book. Aw Gerry... wub.gif
still_hhr_fan
The one that killed me was Marley and Me. Since I've read the book, I already knew what was gonna happen, so I was balling like, half an hour before the movie even ended. It was so uber sad! =( But I loved it, too.
alkisti
Oh yes, I forgot about tis one! I cried so much! I can't believe how easily movies affect me...I was actually glad that I didn't see it at the cinema; I'd be so embarrassed if I cried in front of strangers. tongue.gif

I believe that a movie that makes you cry is a well-made movie. wink.gif
harryjpotter
ok so I know I will bawl - shamelessly bawl my eyes out at HBP, well I am doing so in advance. So if I haven't already I soon will.

Actually I already have, that being Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Pan's Labyrinth most notably. I cry everytime I see the end of Chamber of Secrets though. Long story.
DeSs
Well, I tend to restrain myself and hold my tears when watching a movie, having therefore to bear that horrible lump in my throat, but some of the movies I remember that made me almost or truly shed tears were:
Little Women -- Because Beth died and Jo ended with an old man; she and Teddy were meant for each other! (I had read the book before, obviously, but seeing it was even harder tongue.gif)
A wonderful life -- I watched it recently and I cried a lot, since I was alone at home eeek.gif
The Butterfly Effect -- And even more with Oasis song!
December Boys -- Even my male cousin felt a lump in his throat with that one!
John Q -- And also Man on Fire, with Denzel Washington... that man always make me cry!

And some more. But I'm looking forwards to HBP, if I don't cry with that... I'll hit myself, and cry!
Snapefan21
Hmm... Which movies have I cried at....

Finding Neverland: This has to be the worst. I just bawled at the end... So sad...so sad..sad.gif
GoF: I cried here, when Cedric dies and Harry won't let go of his body.
Sweeney Todd: No! Not Lucy! Not your wife! Noooo!
Marley and Me: Poor Marley...
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: I just sat there and cried for ten minutes after watching that movie...

I really don't like to cry at movies, it just happens. I try not to because I find it really awkward when people you know stare at you when you're bawling... Or people you don't know.
harryjpotter
Snapefan21 thanks for reminding me!
Finding neverland was another one. And From Hell too! And Edward Scissorhands! Haha what is it with Johnny Depp films and crying? Oh yes, and Corpse Bride too.
Angela's Ashes also. Trivia: Devon Murray who plays Seamus Finnigan stars in Angela's Ashes as little Malachy - a performance worth watching.
Amyrat151
The last thing that I watched that really got me to practically weep was Fullmetal Alchemist, the original series. Mom my kept asking "what's wrong." And saying "Ellen, you shouldn't be watching that sad stuff." All the English cast is so amasing, Vic Mignogna totally deserves all the praise he gets.
The new series hasn't got me to cry much, but the 12th episode really got me going when Ed and Al were trying to act like their pain was nothing compared to this happy/hopeful act that they put up in front of their teacher, Izumi. But she told them to that they didn't have to pretend with her. She hugged them and they all cried together. Plus the ending song, Uso, of the new series makes me cry sometimes. It's such a beautiful song.
I cried during Lucky Star, of all things! The part with Konata's mom always gets me.
But it's tricky to watch subbed anime sometimes, because if it's sad, and I cry a lot, then I won't see the words to know what they're saying!
Snapefan21, that's the exact reason why I won't watch Marley and Me. I don't want to cry over a dead dog. Why is it when there's a story when with a dog, it has to die?
I'm okay with crying as long as people aren't around to see me who will bug me about it or make me feel embarrassed. So yeah, I get your point.
harryjpotter, why CoS? You have to tell.
I also cried when I watched The Watchmen, which I'm not sure how many people in this community has seen, but it's a good movie if you're mature enough for it.
BronOpie
I cry so much in movies that I couldn't even give you a list of all the movies I've cried in! But I just watched Bridge to Terabithia last night and I bawled my eyed out! I know some of you will scoff at me for it but I found it really sad! I am too afraid to watch Marley and Me because my friend told me what happens.. oh, I hate when animals die! eeek.gif

I don't cry much for films, but I have for a few.

I cried when I was little when in the Rugrats Movie Tommy was about to pour all formula or applesauce on Dill.

I cried in My Dog Skip when like the boy slapped Skip to those bootleggers beating Skip with a shovel and nearly died as a result.

I cried once when Sam was telling Frodo in Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring that he made a promise to Gandalf, who died earlier, that he wasn't going to lose Frodo and nearly drowned to aid Frodo near the end.

I would have probably cried a a lot, but I didn't do too bad for Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, when my favorite character Padme died because her husband Anakin/Vader force choked her. I found out through the book, so it helped when it came to watching the film.
Dementoid1
I have never really cried in a film, except recently with Marley and Me at the end. The tears were streaming down my face. I think it was especially sad for me because I have a dog and I love her to bits, and if anything happened to her (like what happened to Marley) it would be so devastating.
this be jasmine(:
I cried at... Huh. Steel Magnolias. Bridge to Terabithia, as embarrassing as it is. The Notebook♥. Yeah, and a bunch more that I'm not remembering...
why_so_sirius
I cried twice during the movie Up... not that it was sad, it was just so inspirational and touching.
Bridge to Terabithia was so sad, my sister and I bawled.
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas formed a lump in my throat, but I had already read the book so I knew what was going to happen.
Other than that, I don't remember ever crying during a movie.
UnknownLocket
I think the last movie I cried in was Eagle Eye. It wasn't even a sad movie but when Shia got shot near the end, I really had thought that he had died. And they had showed his picture and everything afterwards as if it was during a funeral, and I really had thought that it was him but no, it was actually his twin brother. He was still alive. It sounds pretty confusing and I have completely forgot the character's names but for those who seen it, lol, you understand. tongue.gif

I also cried during Crash. The movie has been out for a while but I didn't see it untill this year, and the part I cried in was when the little girl jumped in front of her dad to save him because he wasn't protected. Wow, I had really thought that she had gotten shot and I was bawling even more when I realized she was still alive.
MagicTrioFan11
I've cried during a couple of movies, probably more than I can remember though. happy.gif Some of the movies I have cried in were during Bridge to Terebithia, Marley and Me, The Notebook, Saving Private Ryan, My Sister's Keeper and that's all I can remember at the moment. I'm sure there are others too.
this be jasmine(:
Oh, yeah. I remembered a few more. (:

I cried during
Harry Potter One. xD When I was really little, I thought that he had died. (:
RENT. Ohmyword.
Sweeney Todd... I'm kinda lame like that, yeah. xD
hot-for-harry
I'm not a big crying person, but every time I see the movie, Where the Red Fern Grows, I cry. One time we watched it in school after we had read the book, and I cryed there to (which was embarrassing since my eyes get unbelievably red and puffy and crying even for the shortest amount of time). But I normally refrain from trying to cry in front of other people. It's not that I'm trying to act tough or anything. I guess it's because I just don't like showing my emotions to other people a lot.

The other movie I cried during was The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. That was such a sad movie. I went to bed after that movie and just cried hard about the injustice and cruelty of the events in that movie.

~alyssa~
LadyDMalfoy
I try to restrain myself from crying, but I've cried at a movie before...only once. The first movie I cried at was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, I know, kinda pathetic. When Cedric died I started to sob because of what Harry was doing, then Cedric's father was like My boy! My boy is dead! I couldn't stop crying! Also, I started to get teary during the Half Blood Prince. When everyone put their wands up I was overwhelmed, but I managed to hold in my emotions.
JD89
Never. Not once! I'd say I'm quite an emotional person and I've seen a lot of sad movies where everyone else in the cinema hall cried but I have never shed a single tear! I'll read through this thread and watch some of the movies you guys have mentioned and see if they stir up any kind of emotion inside me!
MrBubbles
It happens very rarely but if the movieŽs strong enough IŽll probably do so.

The prime example is probably The Lion King which although IŽm almost an adult now I still cry as much now as I did when I first saw it.

I also remember crying when king Theoden died in Lotr part 3.
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
My mom mentioned today a time when I was super little like two which would make my brother Jack 8 and my brother Nate 5 and we watched Where the Red Fern Grows and she said we were desperately bawling at the end.
honey~pie
I'm not really an emotional person but when it comes to movies... OMG get the tissues.
Especially Titanic, and The Lion King, and in The Goblet Of Fire when Cedric dies, also in HBP when Dumbledore dies.
*wipes tears*
HJP/HJG_TrueLove
A couple posts above I mentioned crying to Where the Red Fern Grows when I was like 2 or 3. I have no recollection of crying in a movie before that was just what my mom told me but I did just finish crying at the end of CSI: Miami my favorite TV Show because my favorite character, Eric, decided to leave CSI. I'm debating whether or not to continue watching the show.
JuicyWitch
Only few movies have made me actually cry. One of them is Rocky Balboa. I really missed Adrian! D: She was one of my favorite characters! Also, there's Ghost. That movie is just so sad!!! Patrick Swayze did a beautiful job. It bothers me how he's really dead now too. sad.gif

I remember when I was little Dumbo made me cry too. It was that one scene when Dumbo "re-unites" with his mother while she's stuck in that little jail cell of hers. The song that was being played made me weep so hard!! The love between a mother and a son...
Hermione17
Oh I know what you mean, Dumbo made me cry as well and still does. Bambi also made me cry when Bambi's mother got shot, and he makes it safety. He starts looking for her and screaming "Mother" over and over again until his dad comes for him. So SAD! Yeah the Lion King made me cry too...what's with the Disney movies making everyone cry?!

I cry at movies when there's an emotional attachment or when an animal dies. Like Ghost of course...and The Notebook...there are so many others I can't even think of at the moment.

Dawn

JuicyWitch
The Notebook! How could I forget!? That movie was very sad...it had a bittersweet ending. :'( They made such a beauitful couple. I wish I knew someone like Noah.

I watched the Lion King yesterday, actually. For some reason, I felt like it was so much darker and sadder this time...when his father died, I was like "Wow...that's so terrible!!!" but with more feeling. Hard to explain, but I felt more emotional about it this time.
Moon(I luv you Luna)
Bridge to Terabithia. That movie gets me every single time, even though i've watched it billions of times and know exactly what's going to happen. It sucks because everyone makes fun of me. rolleyes.gif

I don't generally cry at movies, but i did cry watching GoF when Cedric died. I never cried watching The Lion King, but i find it funny how much sudder it seems when you watch it again when you're older. Other than that, i'm a pretty strong girl. happy.gif
