I tried to do a search on this but nothing came up so i thought i should start this thread anyway.
i am also not taking credit for this. i saw this on another forum and thought it would be a good thread here.
Each of the Movies always have a tagline. for instance: GoF was "dark adn difficult times lie ahead, harry. soon we must all decide between what is right and what is easy" and the same for the rest. This thread is here so you can think up and poder what the new movie tagline for Order of the Phoenix might be. please post your taglines here. they can be funny, weird, seroius, what ever you want just as long as it's veritaserum approprioate and follows the rules.enjoy and discuss and post away!
Examples: "the second war begins"
"the truth will be revealed" or even"The prohecy that was made shall be told"

Oooh, good topic blue!
Well one off the top of my head would be for them to use some of the wording from the prophecy. Like:
"One will die at the hand of the other" at the beginning, then they add at the end
"For neither can live while the other survives."I'm sure I'll come up with something else when I've had time to think about it.

What ever the tag line, its bound to be dark and dramatic...

Jul 2 2006, 01:15 AM
thanks. hey, now that's a great tagline. that would fit perfect for the movie. i've heard others mention that tagline and i think a lot of people would think it would be a good tagline for the movie.
ok here's another off the top of my head. " everything will soon change"
or "the fate of all is about to be seen" something like that i think.

For some reason, I believe the tagline will be another one from something wise that Dumbledore says. The first line that popped into my head is when Dumbledore says "It is time for me to tell you what I should have told you five years ago, Harry." I mean, they might bandage it up a bit though since that doesn't sound to catchy. Perhaps it would be "It is time for me to tell you everything." or something. I dunno, that's just the first thing that popped in my head.

Jul 2 2006, 04:28 AM
I like that one too. it may be one of the lines that dumbldore says to harry. after all those are very important in the books so why wouldn't they be taglines. here's another "it's time...everything will change" or "dumbledore telling of the prophecy." those are actually kind of silly though. all i could think of at the moment.

It would be a really weird tagline, since OotP isn't even the last movie!

Love that one nimbus! I can just hear the voice-over, or not, they might use text instead I suppose. LOL.
The discovery of the prophecy is probably the single most important event in OoTP. I reckon it'd be cool to use it as a tag.

Here's a funny tagline that i saw on a different site that is in fact very funny. "Siriusly...someone dies in this movie". i think that one is kinda dorky but funny as well. anybody got any more taglines?
Just the Droobles
Jul 3 2006, 05:42 PM
I like "The one with the power to vanquish..." yeah, that one. I think it would be good to say as the were showing Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix at the end, you know? When they show the title at the end of previews and stuff. It could be Trelawney and stuff. It will give it a real creepy air...

i know its way too long to be a tagline but hey its funny

Jul 3 2006, 08:48 PM
Here's a few more that i just thought up:
"voldemorts back!"
"great another hp movie"
"more spells, fun,and VOLDEMORT!"
those would be funny to see as taglines but i doubt it. just thought i might add some more humor.hehe!

I agree, Nimbus, that would be a good one. Harry was worried that he is a weapon, so what if its something like that? Or...

"Someone's got detention...and its not Fred and George..."

well i have an idea if the tagline for the third movie was "something wicked this way comes"
dont you think they will biuld fot this one like they did with poa and gof "soon wee must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy" and you know how hermione says everhtings going to change now isnt it? maybe the tagline will be something like "everything changes" i dunno

Ok.. i know, not funny, I tried though! Don't I get a point for trying?

Any way, in all Seriousness?
'Some things are better left unknown'
'Secret and lies will finally be revealed.'
'What is the Department of Mysterious?' --- I really like this one, but i think the people who made the Matrix, might... ah... well... sue.

There are many possibilities as agline for the movie, because the topics that the movie treats are a lot. I would bet for " The truth is behind the black door " or " A door is going to be opened " and down this " The truth is going to be revealed "

I really doubt that any line from the prophesy will be the tagline, as the contents of the prophesy is the ultimate climax of the film. It would be a total downer for those poor souls out there that don't read the books. Imagine waiting the entire way through the battle in the ministry, half-enjoying the action, half-waiting to see what the prophesy contains, just to see that it was what was being used as the tagline for the film for 6 months. That'd suck.
I have an idea for one using ubridge, but my name for her would probobly offend the mods.
I don't know. I like crypic ones. How about "The headquarters of the Order of the Pheonix lies at Number 12 Grimaud place" as a tag? Ok, probobly not, but I'd like it. Of course, I'd like "This book is property of the Half-Blood Prince" as the tag for the next one too, so oh well.

Hmm, I never thought of it like that. I suppose it does give something away, although only one line too I guess - you'd need the whole prophecy to understand it all. I guess they couldn't use a part of it that gives away the main reveal of the book like : One will die at the hand... etc because that would really spoil it.
Maybe the tagline will have something to do with everyones denial of the Dark Lords return? I don't know, something like: The Dark Lord - Shadow No More (Oh wait, that isn't denial

) ... um ... hmmm, maybe later

Ok I know this has no chance of making it on a poster. The overwhelming impression I have from OotP was Harry and his moodiness. I was thinking a tagling like "Even Famous Wizards Can be Annoying at Times". Or how about "Every Great Wizard has their Awkward Teen Phase".
I will never see it on a official poster but maybe I need to go and add a little creativity to existing ones after they start popping up.
bluephoenix5
Jul 14 2006, 06:51 PM

Nice one. that would be rather enjoyable seeing a tagline like that. yeah harry is difinitely a lot moodier in OoTP but then again he is a guy with hormones and is fighting voldemort so i don't blame him that much. anyway if you ever add that to a poster or something i'd love to see it. i am sure it would be hilarious and very neat!

Here's another one which is rather a classic:
"Harry I am your Father!"Be funny if that were a tagline or it made that into the trailer some how. at the very end you hear voldemort say that and then you hear harry scream "no!" probably wouldn't be that funny but still just a thought.

I agree. Although, like Sirius being a good guy, this is one of those things that will be hard to keep secret. So many people have read the books, the element of surprise is going to be hard for the filmmakers. Though, I guess not everybody has
my older sister, who when I told her I was going to see a movie replied "He dies."
I somehow also see the "The Second War Begins" being better for the sixth than the fifth movie, since it takes the whole of the book for anybody not in the OOTP to realize that LV has returned.

These I think would be excellent as clips. I can seriously see these parts of the movie- JKR forbid that they should not be in it- as part of the trailer. Also, remember how important "I solemly swear that I am up to no good" was in the third movie- so even if you haven't picked the tagline, I'm sure one of the great ideas posted here will be used in some capacity.
I'm just thinking of how the first and third movies' taglines really made you want to see what's going to happen during the whole movie, not just about one part of it. I myself thought of the theme of lying and deception in this book, so something like the sentence that Umbridge has carved into Harry's hand "I must not tell lies". On second thought, though, I think this is more likely to end up part of the trailer than the tagline.
Something about "the Truth", as other people have suggested, seems likely to me, because its such a major theme, both about the Prophesy and about LV's return. BTW, I'm still glad they didn't tagline the fourth movie with "He's baaa-ack..."

Wow,
cuack, that's pretty amazing! Personally, I have no idea what it would be.. I'm very bad when it comes to thinking of these things lol. If I were to think of a tagline it would probably have something to do with Harry learning Occlumency. I think that if the tagline had something to do with the prophecy
directly, then it might give to much away for the people who havent read the books yet. I know for a fact that I'm the only one in my family who reads the books.... so why would the filmmakers risk giving too much away by using the wording of the prophecy directly in the tagline?

I'm not sure if I'm babbling on and on or whatever but I'm just not sure about it haha.

OR
REMEMBER MY LAST PETUNIA!
OR
WHAT'S HE AFTER APART FROM FOLLOWERS? <KITCHEN AT GRIMMAULD PLACE>
STUFF HE CAN ONLY GET BY STEALTH..... <SLITHERING SNAKE AT THE MINISTRY>

OR
SOME DOORS SHOULD NEVER BE OPENED.......SOME SHOULD NEVER HAVE BEEN CLOSED. THERE'S SOMETHING I SHOULD HAVE TOLD YOU FIVE YEARS AGO, HARRY.....THE SECOND WAR BEGINS!

I don't think ''Do not surrender your wand'' is any good, or ''remember my last Petunia''.

i think that the tag line will be a quote from the book or somthin
like well i can't remember one right now my parents think im doing home work

lol but off the top of my head i'd say it'd be like "the war begins" becuase the end chapter of the 4th is the begining or like "everything changes now" becuase the 4th's tag line was "everything is about to change" so now it's really changes

"And things are going to change" <Shot of umbridge in the classroom saying "there will be no need for wands in this class.> <still shot of one of the educational decrees>
"but rules cant change everything" <shots of the DA> <shots of hagrid fighting off the guards> <etc>

flash of voldemort with wand in the ministry.
