I've recently begun to aquire a rather unusual music taste, but then again, it isn't so strange. I love a lot of different kinds of music. Most recently (as in, like, yesterday) I discovered this band called Bryan Scary. I'm way into anything with a piano, so they're kind of perfect for me. I've also been listening to a lot of Queen, Super Tramp, and Third Eye Blind. Gym Class Heroes is a band I wasn't sure I'd be a fan of, but look at me now; "Cupid's Chokehold" for some very wrong, unknown reason makes me rather happy. Don't ask me why, I apparently just really like the vocals in that song. By both Travis and Patrick (of Fall Out Boy) I realized its very hard to listen to the music thats simply put out today, because a lot of it sounds very much the same.

I bought The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance, and I pretty much havent taken out of my cd player yet. Its a ridiculous cd. "Mama" is probably my favorite song; that and the hidden track. I'm actually attempting a screenplay based on the rock opera, but thats for a writing thread, not this one....

I might be the only person spazzing out (and watching the trailers a gazillion times a day) for Berth, The Used's CD/DVD set. Four days. It feels like its been forever since those boys came out with something new. I'm really excited for it.
HPfan#1
Well I just downloaded the song Captain Jack!! I don't know who sings it but its like a dance song!! And I already love it!! Like they say "Heyo Captain Jack" and stuff like that in it and " Bring me back to the railway track" its a great song!!
soccerchik
I have been listening to The Emo Song a TON lately! My best friend got this recent obsession for it so it's really funny to see her sitting there singing...

Stop my breathing and slit my throat!
I must be an emo!

That's like all the more she knows!

My favorite part of that song is the end! I feel like tacos! hahaha so random!
cruciatus_andy
that's a hillarious song! i find it incredibly funny!

hahahah well you guys should listen to straylight run just in cas you haven't they're amazing same as starting line those two bands are just ohmy.gif great!

Recently I love The Fray. The songs - Over my head, How to save a life and All at once are so good!

Also

Cobra Starship - Church of Hot Addiction
Armor For Sleep - The Truth About Heaven

And anything off Fall Out Boy's new album which is just amazing.

cruciatus_andy
The Killers all of their whole cd Hot Fuss, i really don't like the new one very much but it's accpetable.

I LOVE the song Starlight by Muse! OMG! It is such a good song!

I also love Fall Out Boys new album, it's awesome!

Noepie
I really like The Arctic Monkeys, Kelly Clarkson and Madonna. Well, actually I like a lot mellow.gif But if I had to chose, here are my favorites:

-When the sun goes down - Arctic Monkeys
-A certain romance - Arctic Monkeys
-Ray of light - Madonna
-Vogue - Madonna
-Live to tell - Madonna
-Like a prayer - Madonna
-Because of you - Kelly Clarkson
-Behind these hazel eyes - Kelly Clarkson
-Beautiful disaster - Kelly Clarkson

This is a selection smile.gif There are a few old songs, like Live to tell, but I just love it. I've been also to her concert and it was AMAZING. But alright, other songs / artist that I like:

Justin Timberlake (what goes around / my love),
Gwen Stefani,
Christina Aguilera (I love the 2-disc of her latest cd, the 1-disc is less good),
My Chemical Romance (The Black Parade is a really good song, and with an amazing video, really good)

Well, I can go on and on and on for hours tongue.gif
phoenix_song
I only have one "favorite song of all time" and thats Under Pressure. In any way shape or form, that song will always be the best. I... That one. But of course, like everybody, I've got other favorites that I claim are the best songs that have ever been written, and well, we all know that, that is a debate waiting to happen, and I dont want to get into that, so we'll just say these songs are ones I can listen to over and over without getting bored with. Whether its the melody, the lyrics or the performance, I cant live without these songs. (no particular order, by the way.)

Noise and Kisses [second best song of all time] - The Used
Handsome Awkward [any Used fans here? have you HEARD that song?] - The Used
Mama - My Chemical Romance
Blood - My Chemical Romance
Pierre - the Dresden Dolls Carpl King cover
Hands Down - Dashboard Confessional [that lucky, lucky lucky girl.]
Nobody Puts Baby In The Corner - Fall Out Boy
Sweet Tangerine [hooray for Bob's voice] The Hush Sound
Build God, Then We'll Talk - Panic! At The Disco
I Miss You - Blink 182 [needs to reunite]
Round Here [panic! cover] - Panic! At The Disco/The counting Crows
Slow Motion - Third Eye Blind
Screaming Infidelities - Dashboard Confessional
Compliment Eachother Like Colors - PlayRadioPlay!
Stolen [acoustic or otherwise] - Dashboard Confessional
Telegraph Avenue Kiss [haha.. Oh Geoff] - Thursday
Killer Queen - Queen
Motorcycle Driveby - Third Eye Blind
Lips Like Morphine - Kill Hannah

Okay, I realize a lot of people probably hate/never heard of half of those songs, but whatever. I adore all of them and so... I don't really care if I'm going to get comments or insults thrown at me for it...

Didnt mean to confuse anybody, there, but the Dresden Dolls covered a Carol King song. That's what I meant. Sorry, should have used a comma there.

Also, look up these songs, because I like them and we all know that everybody cares about my opinion *eye roll* I doubt it.

"We've Got A Big Mess On Our Hands": That Academy Is... (the vocals in thatsong are finally doing Bill Beckett justice)

"Waves Good-bye": From First To Last. B-e-a-utiful song.

And finally.

"Every Man Has A Molly": Say Anything

thanksforyourtime.

Say Anything is a great band to begin with. Everything about them is real, and crushing, and I love it.

I'm always looking for new music to listen to. I get bored really easily, and so I just keep moving and finding new things to listen to. If you've never heard of a band called Super Tramp, I recommend them.

The Used [because Bert McCracken owns my heart]
Every Time I Die
Thursday
Paramore [ haley's got some powerful vocal chords.]
Cute Is What We Aim For [witty]
Blue October
Fiona Apple [if you like strange girls]
Regina Spektor [if you like Fiona]

Any bands I've never heard of, or think I've never heard of, and might like, please let me know. Thanks.

Some of my favorite songs of the moment:

Beastman Vs. Skeletor by CKY, this song is absolutely hilarious! and the video is funny too, Bam and Dico are the greatest!

Jim Henson's Dead by Stephen Lynch, the singing comedian, and it talks about cookie monster and snuffleupagus, and the swedish chef!

Coin Operated Boy by The Dresden Dolls, this song is obscenely catchy!

Beelz by Stephen Lynch, come on, it's a song about Satan, what's better than that?

Goodnight DemonSlayer by Voltaire, I love Voltaire more than any other singer in the world! He makes me happy!

Misery by Sonic Youth, I've been listening to the Clerks II soundtrack a lot lately and this is the song that plays during the closing credits of the film, me and one of my best friends used to sing this song to eachother when we were younger, and it's great to hear this song again, it brings back a lot of memories.

Hallelujah by Rufus Wainwright, one of my all time favorite songs.

and those are the songs and bands and musicians of the moment.

oh and before I forget the Wicked soundtrack is amazing!

I do believe I love you. Especially for the Dresden Dolls line. Amanda Palmer owns my soul. I swear, none of my body parts are mine anymore.... but that's a completely different story.

I seem to cant get enough of Say Anything nowadays. For some reason Every Man Has A Molly just wont shut up in my head. I'm not complaining though.

Handsome Awkward by The Used is one that I'd gladly hear for the rest of my life and not have a problem with.

Camisado by Panic! At The Disco never gets old. I love Ryan's lyrics. Even if they are personal/depressing lyrics, he really knows how to distract you from that with some catchy melodies.

A Gorey Demise. I've said this everywhere, but its really just a great song, and there's characters in it. And its hilarious.... if you've got a dark sense or humor that is...and a dry one.

Finally Lips Like Morphine by Kill Hannah. Ha. Those vocals. Ahem.
soccerchik
Here's some more songs that I love!

Just Let Her Go- Tickle Me Pink
We Still Dance- Tickle Me Pink

Melody Of You- Sinlge File
Velcro- Single file

And yeah those songs are pretty sweet!

Yes she is AMAZING, isn't she? and It's ever greater that she just got done doing a duet with my god, Voltaire for his next album, Ooky Spooky. It's about a married couple that detest eachother but because divorce is discouraged by their religious beliefs, they refuse to get a divorce. Because of the vow, till death to us part, they end up killing eachother, but both end up happy to be lying in the ground next to the other. I really can't wait to actually hear the song.

but another great song....

Grace Kelly by Mika, it's so happy and pop-y, it makes me smile and dance everytime I hear it, and he sounds like Freddy Mercury!

I haven't heard of some of these bands you guys are on about but everytime someone compliments a band I'll be off downloading them to see if there any good...

witchmom
OK, I'm adding my two cents here...I made a songlist on my iPod which I listen to almost continuously. Some of my favorite songs at the moment are:

AFI - The missing frame
NIN - Everyday is exactly the same
The Cure - Just like heaven
Muse - Sunburn
HIM - Right here in my arms
The Veils - Lavinia

They're not all new songs, some are from the past, but I am amazed by the fact that so many new groups took the heredity of MY favorite groups of the past... the Eighties still rock!
penny_for_your_thoughts
If anyone knows about the group Sin Bandera (or technically duo) (that's them down there, by the way) I basically like anything by them because they, uh, rock. wub.gif biggrin.gif thumbsup.gif I also like the norteņo group Duelo, if anyone's heard of them either. They are so good...yeah. But my favorite songs by Duelo, anyway, are Por Que and Para Sobrevivir, two great songs!!!!! What else?? Well, that's all I can think of right now. Huh. Shrug!!
cruciatus_andy
punchline - icicles

rooney - shakin

offspring - mota

offspring - come out swingin

i have alot more but i'm a bit tired biggrin.gif jeeze i hardly get on VTM anymore, dumb computer
Esrb99
UnderOATH - Cries of the Past.

So what if they dressed in all black with chains and spikes??? this is what underoath was all aobut, complete passion, melody, Vocal destruction, and REAL lyrics! I always cry, as the lyrics tell of how Dallas Taylor and his Fiancee got in a car wreck and he had to watch God take her away... such a beautifuly haunting song.

Gotta love The Oath.

Everyone has different opinions on music, it's just the way it goes. There is always someone who will think someone elses music taste is 'garbage' but I guess it doesn't matter, as long as they like it. That's my view anyways.

Right now I'm listening to Maximo Park - Our Velocity on repeat. Good song. Also -

Razorlight - I can't stop this feeling I've got
The Kooks - Eddies gun

The last song on Fall out boy's new album, which is still in my cd player! It's called G.I.N.A.S.F.S.

That's about it, oh I listened to Say Anything after a couple of people said they were good and I agree that the song Every man has a Molly is great. Wow, I can get sexual too is another good one.
amanda1212
pheonixsong, I love Say Anything! Definatley on of my favorite. Lets seee....

My overall favorite artists with the best songs is Kelly Clarkson. Her songs have everything rock/hip hop/ pop/ country, and the lyrics are meaningful.

I love every style of music so lets start with some R&B/Hip-Hop/Rap/Soul

Irraplaceable- Its such a girl power song which I love. Her voice is impecible as well.
another Beyonce featuring Shakira, Beautiful Liar . Great vocals, great beat as well.
get old. And its Usher, who doesnt like him??
We Belong Together - Mariah, Mariah, Mariah. Gotta lover her.
Last for this category, Justin Timberlake! I'll be his "Senorita" or his love any day, I'll "Cry Him a River", but one thing I wont do is "Bring Sexy back" ...thats his job. Love him.

Okayyyy moving on to Country, I have grown to like it alot.

Anything Dixie Chicks. They to me are like classics I love them (not to mention their views on things, but thats for another thread) Anddd I love Rascal Flatts. They are pretty darn good as well..

Rock+Soft Rock/Alternitive/Punk

Paramore - Here We Go Again, great lyrics
Cartel- Settle Down, Its good to get some anger out with
AFI- Love Like Winter, dont get me wrong I love the old stuff, but this is my fav.
Anything Fall Out Boy. Period.
The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus- Damn Regret. Amazing acoustics
Anything as in The Who Whitstrpes, Queen, Jimmy Hendrix, Led Zepplin, - you cant not like them .

Yeah, I think G.I.N.A.S.F.S. is a UK bonus track though. I have fifteen tracks on mine with that track being after I've got all this ringing in my ears and none on my fingers. That's wierd, I thought it was on all of them. It's a great track, worth a listen if you haven't heard it.

amanda1212 I love all the artists you mentioned with the exception of Led...my dad's into them so I never gave them a chance, maybe I will. Justin just keeps getting better also, his new cd I really love. Anyways you have great taste in music.

I get what you mean and yeah it's fine no worries. If I sounded like I was giving you a lecture I didn't mean to, I tend to do that...
Moving on... aside from my Maximo Park - Our Velocity obsession I'm liking:

Christina Aguilera - Candyman (Such catchy backround music!)
James Morrison - Call the Police
Panic! at the Disco - Time to Dance ... and practically all the other tracks by them.

Aerosmith are awesome, couldn't name just one song by them cause I'd end up writing all of them. And an old song but it never get's old...Queen - Don't stop me now. I request that at any place there's a dj!
Potterfan97
Aww this is a tough one considering I have like a bunch of favorite songs. I guess my all time favorite would have to be One by U2. They are the greatest!!! wub.gif

Is that the original? if i remember correctly that man didn't have a very good voice. he wrote many timeless classics, but i don't think he can sing at all.
I love Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley, it's a newer version, it has the exact same words but this guy can sing! ohmy.gif
2 even newer versions are out, but they're rubbish. one by phantom planet for the Oc and one remade for shrek. they've sung it cheesily though, it sounds like a pop song. shesh.

In the Ghetto - Elvis Presley
Why Can't I wake Up with You - Take That

Yeah it's the original and I agree with you. I don't like his voice I just like the song. I like the way KD Lang and Rufus Wainwright covered it.
amanda1212
Haha, Miss Minerva, my dad actually turned me on to Led. Funny stuff .. anyway..
Christina Aguilera - Anything from her. Her vocals are impeciable, I have never not liked a song from her, she has grown as an artist and hasnt turned into people like...Paris Hilton or cuttent Brittany. My favortie song by her is Beautiful. Its such a meaningful song.

her voice is amazing, it's jaw dropping. How can she possibly get such a strong voice like that out of her?!?! I love hurt, the new song, and fighter. Well i like all of them really, but those especially!
Evanescence is really amazing, Amy-Lee has a voice simialr to Christina Aguileras, my immortal, bring me to life, going under, call me when you're sober, tourniquet, really most things by them are great!

Seni
Yeah, Christina Aguilera can really, really sing. Hurt is, if possible, even more beautiful than Beautiful. That new song, Candyman, is so catchy. Really like it.
But even though I love Evanescence too (Bring me to life sends shivers down my spine), I don't think that Amy Lee can be compared to Christina. Amy Lee has a great voice but it's so much different than Christina's. Or maybe it's just me.

Louis Armstrong is really good, wonderful world and swingin' on nothin' are my favourites at the moment !

When I'm in the right mood I listen to some Elvis lol. Some of his songs are classics - Jailhouse Rock, Heartbreak Hotel, Suspicious Minds, Hound Dog...the list could go on for a rather long time. Yes he's an oldie but I listen to all music and some of the old guys songs are great. Aerosmith, Queen and Wham! to name a few.

Vertical Horizon - You're a God and Echo.
Bowling for Soup - Lovesick Stomach Ache
Cute Is What We Aim For - The Fourth Drink Instinct
Jack's Mannequin - Dark Blue (Amazing. Give it a listen if you haven't heard)
