Right now I'm very much into Butterfly Boucher's Life Is Short and KT Tunstall's Suddenly I See and Other Side of the World...

I love "angry-chick-rock" like my friends call it: Avril Lavigne's My World, most of Kelly Clarkson's songs and I definetly love almost every song from the movie 10 Things I Hate About You (Letters To Cleo's Cruel To Be Kind and I Want You To Want Me, Save Ferris's I Know, Bare Naked Ladies's One Week, Joan Jett's Bad Reputation and so on...)

Also, Cheyenne Kimball's Hanging On and a lot of Hillary Duff's songs.

Another soundtrack that I love is the one from Cruel Intentions... I find it pretty good.

I'm a big fan of Fall Out Boy and Panic! at the Disco, and I really like Sherwood's For The Longest Time.

Yep, in a Cat Stevens frame of mind at the moment, particularly Peace Train, and the entirety of Tea For The Tillerman. Sir Bob Geldof got it right when he said that if an artist had to pick the eleven songs that defined their career and put them all on one album, it would be Tea For The Tillerman. Wow.

In other news Me Julio Down By The Schoolyard by Paul Simon is fantastic. I can never go past a bit of Paul Simon. I'm also going to include here The Beautiful Girls, just to quote a bit of Aussie talent.

The song is always on the radio at least 10 times a day and I go to Youtube every chance I get just to watch the video. What can I say, I'm obsessed. I just love the lyrics, the vocals of the people singing it, and it's just awesome. Oh, and I also love "Emotional" by Trey Songz.

Golden Years - David Bowie
Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars

Anyway enjoy the Kooks!
Dumbledore's Widow
Has anyone heard the new single by Coldplay, Viva La Vida? I think it's fabulous!

I've seen a 30 second commercial for iTunes on television, where Coldplay is singing a bit of the song, and it left me wanting more. I had never really paid Coldplay any mind before, but I'm going to look into finding out more about them. tongue.gif

Here is a link to someone named Colin Jennison, who has his own band ~ and not a bad voice either! ~ singing Viva La Vida. But, I still prefer Coldplay's version. thumbsup.gif

http://www.youtube.com/user/colinjennison
HPnerd_0512
Hurrah! Someone else has heard of the Kooks. Speaking of Bowie, I'm having an extended Lou Reed moment at present. Now there is a storyteller.

When I was fourteen years old my Dad lent me his copy of Lou Reed's Transformer album. In hindsight, it probably wasn't the best way to introduce a fourteen year old girl to "real" music. But by then it was too late, the deed was done, and I have been a bona fide musical maniac ever since.

Anyone else have a story about a song or album that changed their life in some way?
raisiny
I know only few songs from Kooks, but thouse who I know I like smile.gif
Well, talking about that, I dont really have albums that changed my life .. Well there was one album, what I think made one part of my life . I got this feeling that one song brought together me and my first boryfriend, well but that was long time ago wub.gif Now there is just that music takes a really big part in my life and helps me to live smile.gif So there are few more songs I like wink.gif

Linking Park - Leave Out All The Rest
3 Doors Down - Let Me Go
Within Temptation - Somewhere
Placebo - Every You Every Me
Nicole Kidman & Ewan McGregor - Come What May
Phil Collins - Can't Stop Loving You
Evanescence - My immortal
Him & Her - Join Me
Sheryl Crow - Soak Up The Sun
Nirvana - Smells Like Tean Spirit
etphonehome
I love Evanessence, My Immortal, I can't believe I left that off my list of all time favourites. I also think Within Tempatation are brilliant.

The Kooks She Moves... reminds me of a beach holiday I had in Cornwall 2 years ago. Every time you walked into one of the surf shops it was playing!

I also didn't add Dance Dance by Fall Out Boy
Learn to Fly by Foo Fighters
Mr Brightside by Killers

and a complete genre change Everything by Michael Buble
Rule the World by Take That
Angel by Robbie Williams
Beautiful by Christina Agulera(sp?)

Lou Reed is amazing and kudos to your dad for the intro HPNerd

I'm not a big fan of Justin Timberlake, but sorting through my CD collection I found a copy of Signs which he featured on with Snoop Dog. Really bad language but a great track!
I also have a soft spot for classical tracks like Clair de Lune by Debussy and some of Rachmaninov's piano concerto's.

My life changing album was I Am by Earth Wind and Fire. That album embodied the whole of my first dating experiences, a story to go with every song! Now I am showing my age!
HPnerd_0512
I have a couple of other "life changing" albums, if you'll excuse the exaggeration, apart from Transformer.

Ben Folds Five - Whatever And Ever Amen. We were on a broken down bus halfway to the snow in Jindabyne, New South Wales, and I was bored out of my brain. One of my friends lent me a copy of this to pass the time, and that was it, I became a fully-fledged Ben Folds fanatic.

Radiohead - Ok Computer. It was my last year of high school, and it was Radiohead. Need I say more?

Bernard Fanning - Tea and Sympathy. This album will never get old.

Crowded House - Recurring Dream: The Best Of. Neil Finn is the voice of my childhood.

Cold War Kids - Robbers and Cowards. My first year of university, living in college, knowing nobody. Then this goes into circulation, and suddenly fellow music addicts start coming out of the woodwork.

Rufus Wainwright - Release The Stars. "Do I disappoint you in just being human?" What an opener.

Jack Johnson - Brushfire Fairytales. This laid back gentleman taught me that "mellow" doesn't necessarily translate to "boring".

Hope this isn't too offtopic.gif but I just felt the need to share these with you all.

hot-for-harry
I love, love, love the song My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion. It is also known as the theme to Titanic. It is such a gorgeous piece of music, and the emotion in it is just tangible.

Also, the piece River Flows In You by Yiruma is heart-breakingly beautiful. You must listen to it.

Halo by Beyonce is, to me, a true love song. It's not sappy and all too slow, it actually gives you the raw emotion of love. It seems it came straight from her soul when she sings it.

Careless Whisper by Seether is another good one. I prefer this remake over George Michael's original.

I have a very wide range of music I listen to! And out of all the music, those are my favorites.

~alyssa~
HalfxBloodxPrincess

At the moment I've been fixating on a couple of songs:

Dirty Business by The Dresden Dolls

Rebellion (Lies) by Arcade Fire

This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody) by Talking Heads

Fistful Of Love by Antony and the Johnsons featuring Lou Reed.

Pretty much anything by Lou Reed works for me.
