The Infamous Fish
Ok, there was one in the OotP forum, so why not here? I know it's early, but hey, theorize away. What will the tagline for the film version of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince be?

I like "This book is property of the Half-Blood Prince," but that's me.

Someone give me something better! How about some funny ones? Go on, give it a try. you know you wanna.

-Fish

bluephoenix5
How about this for a movie tagline...it's never too early!!

-I am not afraid. I am with you.

that would for me be the perfect tagline for the posters and the trailer. biggrin.gif
missmugglebethany
ok, im not very good at this but here's an idea.

"Into the night they adventure, out of the night one falls"

Harry potter and the Half-Blood Prince

bluephoenix5
Right rather than a serious one i would like to be more humorous, hopefully. here's some that i got.

ok at least harry is less dramatic and less moody in this movie!

Snape's book of love! ok not very good...

The last time you see dumbledore so say your goodbyes!

ok that's all i've come up with for now and i think i could have done better. guess i am better with the serious stuff...oh well. rolleyes.gif
goodlooking
i think i am not afraid i am with you is the perfect tagline for the movie. its like the best line in the entire book!!

[Mod Edit] Please visit the forum rules. One liners/Short posts aren't permitted on the forums so elaborate more in future posts. Thanks.
potter's girl
I also like the idea of "I am not afraid, I am with you." That is one of the best lines, but I really like missmugglebethany's tagline. Either one of those or "This book is the property of the Half-Blood Prince." You guys already used all my ideas so I just have to agree with you!
Steve Jones
- I am safe with you
- I am not afraid
- Dark Times are coming ever closer
missmugglebethany
so its really hard to post in here without it being a oneliner but thanks to you that like my tagline. I could also see it changed a little bit too.

"into the night they adventure, out of the night they fall"

then it would cover them all that had a part in that dreadfull night. when i think about HBP i cant help but comparing it to Empires strikes back where nothing goes right for the rebels, and oddly enough the hero in that movie also gets some special training in that one too. anyway im rambling, so anyway i like all the taglines i have read here so far

oh i do like the last one very much. the one "Dark Times are comigneven closer". now that i can visually see up on the screen and on the posters as well. i can definitely imagine dumbledore or maybe ron saying this line at the end. nice thinking! biggrin.gif
Caitlin in Australia
I love taglines, they make you want to see the movie even more just because of someone that came up with a great line.

My favourite would be missmugglebethany's
"into the night they adventure, out of the night they fall"
because it does account for the whole group that fought a lossing battle.
missmugglebethany
thanks caitlin, thats why i changed the tagline to the new one, it gives you a sense of togetherness and doesnt single out one person. Ive never been really good at tagline or fiction writing. my strongpoints have always been factual essays and papers.
Hibernia
Needs tightening up but something along the lines of the
"The Kings of magic do battle again....dare you face Harry Potter and the Half blood Prince"

or wrestling style the royalty of the wizidaring world invite you to a rumble of magical proportions.....

Or

From the triwizidaring championship a hero emerged to reclaim the innocence lost. He now prepares to battle once more in the HBP

Like this idea...off to ponder me thinks...no pun intended
El Barto
How about...

"Don't go into dark caves with old wizards..."

"We venture to the past only to weep in the present"

"0 sightings of Voldemort in this movie"

"Year 6"

"The Sixth Year"

"Voldemort 1, Dumbledore dead"

"Cause of death=Snape"

Or..."Snape kills Dumbledore!" from that one guy who drove around saying that.

Your guys's are great... Especially this one:
QUOTE
"Into the night they adventure, out of the night one falls"

I don't think they'll take one from the book, though, but of course it would be cool if they did. The person who hadn't read the book, and reads "I am not worried, I am with you" would think its edging towards something else...or not...I guess it all depends on how you read it (I'm not talking about something sick, I'm talking about a romance/drama movie) biggrin.gif

Would the tagline be based on a broad concept for the entire movie? The changes from the first five movies? A particular event in this one?

Ok, that one sounds like it needs the subtitle: "a very special episode of harry potter." But that's me.

And I think "I am not worried, I am with you" would work very well as part of the trailer. The main line from the movie they show over and over, like the right/easy line they used in GoF. But not as a tagline at the bottom of a poster, I don't think.

missmugglebethany
so i could see a poster looking like this or a short movie teaser
all you see is night and the castle maybe the moon we've all seen these awesome still around of hogwarts castle

then you get the traditional

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

The story has only just begun.......

check out the trailers i have a nice mini trailer for this one already mapped out. what do you think
Cass Grint
its a bit boring but what about

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

its just waiting to be found

because that could be
-the book (snape's)
-the horcrux (spelling?)
-the film

by the way really random but

RAB is Regulas Black

OR

Death on the lightning stuck tower

Harry_Ginny777
i think a good tagline will be "This book is property of the Half-Blood Prince," because it describes the title a little better like now you know harry potter finds a book that once belonged to the half-bloof prince and then it carries on from there. i would like to see that one on a poster of something

or maybe "i am not afraid i am with you" is a good one as well either one will do
Keeper_of_the_sword
Ok I like...

Are you afraid Professor? No Harry I'm with you.

I know alot have already written that one but when I found this forum it is what came to me first.
Harry_Ginny777
well i am reading Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince right now and it is amzing just like the first 3 times i read it. but i just found one and it is

"into the night they adventure, out of the night they fall"
and
"She is Ron's Sister, And Ron is My Best mate"

YAY HARRY AND GINNY
Albus Dumbledore
there are so many dramatic phrases that would do the tagline justice... but one qoute really excites me....

"From this point forth, we shall be leaving the firm foundation of fact and journeying together through the murky marshes of memory into thickets of wildest guesswork"
Harry_Ginny777
here is another good one for all of you.

"Harry Could Have One Last Day To Spend With Ron And Hermione"

i liked that one because if says that he is going on a quest and he knows it is not going to be a good one it may be a bad one and he could die.
-ginny-da-cat-
eres a few

the truth is out

the dark times are back

love. betraylal. hurt. death

the nightmares of nightmares has just begun

dno realy jst a quick ideas cool.gif wacko.gif

"From this point forth, we shall be leaving the firm foundation of fact and journeying together through the murky marshes of memory into thickets of wildest guesswork"

Yeah, I don't like that one at all.

Yes, this was meant a sarcasm. After all look here (my location):

<-----------------------

But seriously, that works really well. I have been trying to think of a trailer idea for HBP, and I can't get my mind around it. I guess making a big deal about the search into voldemort's past is about the only way to go. Hmm...

-fish
missmugglebethany
ok i have a question in my book is says are you worried proffessor, and DD replies no harry i'm not worried i'm with you. i found that in the chapter the cave last page 378. i have the american version deluxe edition. are you getting that from somewhere else? let me know
The Infamous Fish
are you talking about the quote posted by Keeper_of_the_sword? I think he was just trying to quote from memory. Or do you mean the quote tom/albus and I were talking about? That was from harry's meetings with dumbledore. About half way through the story, dumbledore says this, meaning that what he said from this point on (getting into voldemort making seven horcruxes, etc.) was merely guesswork.

-fish
Welsh Bard
"The Chosen One, They're Calling You Now..."

Or the "thickets of wildest guesswork" thing was cool. As for a trailer I'd like something on the Hogwarts Express, then a voiceover of Slughorn, "Harry Potter, the Boy Who Lived...The Chosen One, they're calling you now...". Other than that we should see:

The White Tomb
Hermione and the canaries
Malfoy and the Sectumsempra
The Advanced Potions Making book
Quidditch
Scrimgeour and Harry ("I haven't forgotten, minister!")

Also Hagrid's hut on fire, just to oppose the innocence of the first few films, should be seen near the end of the trailer.
tomriddlenumber3
Now, lets step into the night and pursue our flighty temptress...adventure. DEFINATELY THE BEST TAG-LINE FOR THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!
Xander_Black
Theres so many good choices. I like, "I am not afraid, I am with you" that'd probably be my choice.
Lav_Lav
I like every1s. I like wesh bard's trailer thing and i think there sud be clips of the kissing and that

i really like how u sed a vocie over of slughorn sayin " Harry Potter... the boy who lived and the Chosen one there calling you now" i really like that

Its hard to explain how i see the trailer i see it like little clips of differetn emotions like kissing, malfoy crying, hermione jealous, harry confused . u no clips and loud music then the music goes slow then slughorn comes on and says

"Harry potter the boy who lived... the Chosen One there calling you now"

then sum more clips and then at the end they sud have dumbledore saying

"Im am not scared harry.... Im with you"

then a big like boom andthen darness with harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

then in small writing

Dark Times are apon us
prince_halfblood_22
How about, " He cannot kill you if your already dead!" I like this, because it suggests alot of mystery

Heres a good one!! " And Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure."

this is by far the best one in my oppinion!

I am sorry, my last post, was already written by someone else. This must have been done while i was posting though.

What about, " I see you are Dumbledore's man, through and through!" i like this one, because it shows great loyalty to dd.

Wow, Lav-Lav!! That was intreguing! I like the detail u draw into it, and yes, it is probably better to put multiple taglines!!

I think somewhere in the trailor, it should show, Fenrir, pouncing on harry when harry was trying to catch up with snape and Draco.
Lav_Lav
Yea that would be good.

MOD EDIT: Please do not post short posts like this on the boards. We like to encourage discussions, so please give the other members something to go on. Expand your thoughts nest time please. Thanks.
The Mudblood Queen
Well, you all have such great ones and there was like a lot of the "I'm not afraid, I'm with you" though I think that is a little too predictable. Just because its the quote that everyone remembers, course, that might be why they would use it. I especially liked the flighty tempress of adventure one and a couple others that I can't remember. Anyway on to my ideas, I only deal in serious so that's waht I have.

"Some books should not be read"

"Never underestimate luck" or "A little luck goes a long way"

"Memories are not always what they seem"

this one isn't an exact quote because I can't remember it word for word but I think its pretty close.

"Young and whole men to not always stay so"

Oh yeah, I really liked whomever posted the "He can not kill you if you're already dead" that was cool and a bit chilling by itself.

Lav_Lav
Ye but who sed that quote i cnt remember it :S but it sounds really good.

MOD EDIT: Agian I ask you to please not post one line posts on the boards. Expand your thoughts next time.
prince_halfblood_22
what quote are you speaking of Lav-Lav? Is it one i have posted??

and being that i have to have more than one line, i shall edit, this with this completely unrelated line, laugh out loud!!
Lav_Lav
sorry i ment this one

He can not kill you if you're already dead

i really like that but i [dnt] don't [no] know [hu] ? sed it. [cn] Can [any1] anyone help me out like [hu] ? sed it where and when lol

MOD EDIT: ON top of posting a sadly short post agian, this one is peppered with Netspeak. This forum has many members who are not native English speakers. Netspeak is hard for them to read and some of us who are infact native speakers. Write it all out next time.

Here's My Opinion ...

I like :

1."Into the night they adventure, out of the night one falls"

I like that alot. I think that I could picture that as a trailer.

2. "The Chosen One, They're Calling You Now..."

This is a cool one, I could definatley see this one too.

3."Im am not scared harry.... Im with you"

This one is okay, I like it but I think that the other two so far seem more wide ranged or more appropriate for a trailer. Maybe that one could be like a poster?

4.Some books should not be read.

I think that is perfect. But in the trailer you would need clips of Harry using the book or Hermione complaining that he is, so it ties in.

5.A little luck goes a long way

Luck was a big topic in this book, I think the could also be a good one.

Last but not least...

6. Memories are not always what they seem.

This is another one of my favorites. Its mysterious and gripping, just what a movie trailor needs.

That was posted by Lav_Lav. I agree I think that would be a cool lay out for a trailor.

Prodfoot
Wow, all of the ones already said are very good. I especialy like "A little luck goes a long way". I am pretty sure that amanda1212 said that.

What about:

What Evil Lies Beneth...

The One Who Started It All

Mysteries Will Unfold

Character Will Be tested

or my personal favorite:

I Face Death in the Hope That When You Meet You Match, You Will be Mortal Once More...

~Prod

The Mudblood Queen
Well, amanda1212, if you were agreeing with me on those last three taglines I'd like to say thank you, I really liked them too. Though if you just missed my post and posted those on your I would have to say that's a bit freaky that we think so closely alike when we've never met,but if that is the case I will agree with you on those taglines. Again Mr. Prodfoot,*hopes they're a guy* I think amanda1212 was agreeing with me, and even if she wasn't I'm still glad you like liked it.

Lav_Lav, the "Young and whole men do not always stay so" quote was said by Mr. Weasley to Lupin after Bill got mauled.

I really liked that last one of yours Prodfoot, I just like thought that was really cool.

Here's some more.

"Not all Death Eaters wear masks and hide in the dark"

It's not one of my favorite ones, but I think it definitely applies to the story in a big way and it has mystery.

"The Dark Lord has many secrets"

Dang it, I can't think of any more, I thought I could but I can't, oh well.
amanda1212
I think another one of my favorites is

"This book is proptery of the Half Blood Prince" I think that one is superb. Although in the previews there probably should be something/someone talking about the book. But I really like this idea.

Haha no Mudblood Queen, I did see your post! and I'm agreeing! =] ..

P.S - I am a girl lol tongue.gif
dark_mark_caster316
I don't know, those are all pretty good. I like "This Book is Property of the Half-Blood Prince" . But how about this one;

[center]"The Final Chapter Begins"

or

"Who is The Half-Blood Prince?"

Just throwin 'em out there.
The Mudblood Queen
Well I like yours dark_mark_caster, but I think "The Final Chapter Begins" would be betters saved for the seventh movie. The other one seems like a given what with the name of the movie and all, not that it's not good, and film makers do do the obvious or given stuff a lot. So who knows, that could end up being like the most likely to be the tagline.
Prodfoot
Thanks The Mudblood Queen. I really like that one, also. Actually, I am not a boy. I am a girl. When I read that I started laughing so hard. That is the second time someone thought that I was a guy. Wow, I really must be butch. Anyway, I came up with some more taglines.

Never Underestimate...

I think this one would be appropriate. It could read:Never Underestimate a Book,
or Never Underestimate Youth, referring to Draco or Harry. Also, Dumbledore said something like that in the Cave scene. Or, it could read; Never Underestimate the Under Dog. Meaning Snape.

One Book, Two Boys, Three Attacks, Four Secrets, Five Enimies, Year Six.

One Book: The HBP's old potions book

Two Boys: Harry and Draco

Three Attacks: The attemps to end Albus's life; poison necklace, poison mead, attack on shool

Four Secrets: the horucruxes, R.A.B., who the HBP is, Voldemort's past

Five Enimies: Snape, Dumbledore, Draco, Harry

Year Six: Self explanitory

Journey Into The Murky Marshes Of Memory...

Memroies are key in HBP.

Look To The Past.

-or-

The Past Is Always Present

The past is important to the plot.

That is all I can think of for now. I will post more when I think of some more.

~Prod
lean forward
Umm, just throwing this in there, but like

last song pheonix

i don't really know i don't have great ideas just throwing it out their

~wolf~
Ginny16
I really like: I am not worried Harry, I am with you

or

Memories are relived (harry + dumbledor in the pensieve)

or

The truth will be know (harry finds out snape was the death eater who warned voldemort about the prophecy)
hogwarts
i do really like that one 'dark times are even closer'.i think i could give it a try:

sleep.gif stupid.gif Get ready for a couple of surprises. tongue.gif cool.gif
i know that didnt sound much, but........................ there are couple of surprises in the book - Dd dying , Snape being a half-blood, heRmOiNe and Ro'n............. you know!
DracosLady
Here is one I just thought of:
Out of the Darkness and into the Light this could symbolize a few things, Snape being revealed as not only the HBP but a half-blood wizard. It could also mean Harry finally coming out of the darkness about Riddle and what his life was about and coming into the light about what everything in Riddle's past and his means. How the two probably are closer linked than even Harry would like. This is just a thought..What does everyone else think? huh.gif
abzolutezero
Ok I have one. i dont know if this was in the book but hear it is any way.

Snape-"I am the Half Blood Prince"

The Infamous Fish
No offence Kelvin (that is, absolute zero. Ooo. geek joke!), but I think that your tagline might give away some of the plot. Like most of it maybe. wink.gif It is cool from a fan perspective though.

fish
potter's_gurl
i think it'll be somthing like

- watch what you're reading
- know who wrote what you're reading
- keep your soul whole
- it's changed competely
- a prince in the wizarding world?

or somthing good
HaRrYlOvEr
i think it will be, "and he knew without knowing how he knew that the pheonix had left hogwarts just as dumbledore had the school had left the worl had left harry" i is a little long but it is so sad
