Jordan, I don't have anything! There's nothing on my myspace to say you've added me. I've even tried to search it again but there's nothing. Is there a link you can give me? I've managed to find the Bebo and am in the middle of adding them, but the myspace is killing me!
I can help! I'm a myspace whiz....to an extent, plus I'm in contact with Mods (since I am one for my high school) so if there's something you don't know I can find out how to do it.
Anyway, I won't be checking this til sometime tomorrow so hopefully you would have been able to figure out why I can't find it. Anyway........

Thanks Nick, I don't think anyone commented on it, I like MARVOLO. But what would that be for? We already have FAWKES and GOPEEVES for the GooglePageRank and lest we forget the parent of them both - INVAID.
Google PageRank is a different concept to what we do in FAWKES. The title is: Meeting About Raising Veritaserum by Organising Linking Operations, so it's a project about organising as many links as possible, around the web, which link back to VTM, as get our PageRank number up to Seven!

I just thought I'd give everyone the heads up that GO PEEVES is up and running, so discussion centered around raising VTM's rank on Google, including things like making as many links to VTM as possible to raise our PageRank score, will now take place there.
GO PEEVES thread is

*Jumps up and down waving an arm in the air shouting 'Oo me, me'* can I join please?
I love this idea and think that it is so wonderful of you to do it, as there are many fans out there that just aren't getting their thirst for knowledge and deep discussion adequately satisfied by other sites,
I'll do my best to help (ok, admittedly I'm a little technologically illiterate so I may be limited to 'clicking away' but I'll try my hand at anything else).
I think that GO PEAVES is such an ingenious idea that is effective yet so brilliantly simple to carry-out that even
I can help
On the left we have Veritaserum and on the right, a close running Potter brand site...*swishy time elapse thing*...just see how much better Veritaserum gets those brain cells firingsorry I couldn't help myself, please excuse the cheesiness of this post

Quick introduction: I'm Sam(antha) (
the addition of 'antha' takes me back to those teenage angst years where my full name was shouted an awful lot), 23, from England, I'm a (lazy) student desperately attempting to become a researcher, I have a cat
(called Dusty, who is currently trying to figure out what the Vacuum cleaner is) and a long-term boyfriend (
called Andi, of 6(ish) years) - poor guy

. I love rock and Metal and reading of all kinds but particularly Harry Potter Books (
my favorite being Order of the Phoenix) - that is all there really is to know about me

If you just want to search for me on MySpace, Jordan, my user name is bruAye. It's just a mix up of my name. I should be easy to find because I can't imagine too many other people will have that as a name...and now you'll know my identity...

What wonderful ideas here! I'm all for it! And now, hopefully, I'll be able to spend time on here as school is out and I'm mid summer.

In other words, I would love to join, and I'll do all I can.
Well, I'm Katherine (but you guys can call me kat, kool kat, kool, or any variation of my name you can think of), I turned 13 in February, and I really love VTM. I joined just over a year ago, and what I loved about it was the great sense of community the forums held. It wasn't just another forums where people would randomly spam, and everyone would be ok with it, there were actualy conversations and debates with people who actually had opinions and something to bring to the table.

A little while ago my life got pretty hectic, so I had to take a somewhat prolonged hiatus from VTM, as I adopted new interests, but I always regretted not being able to spend more time on here, as it was the first forums I felt I was really a part of. Now I'm really going to try and keep up with the times, and I'd be honored to assist I.N.V.A.I.D.!

Welcome to INVAID Samantha.
Thankyou very much
I'm not sure how much help this is, but I seem to remember there being a HP Role playing group on myspace (each one had a characters name, if that helps) so perhaps the members could 'accidently' have veritaserum mentioned/linked to them. I can't honestly remember what it was called though (I was playing around on Andis', but I'll ask him to have a nosey for me when he wakes up if you like)

Or maybe it's just myspace being funny

EDIT: Actually, i think it's MySpace acting up it's done it to another couple of my friends pages, and i don't think they've deleted them.

Oooh great! And I'm late to post ... again!
Okay, small introduction:
I'm Laudine or Olivia (Liv, Livi, Livy, or whatever

) and I live near Zurich in Switzerland. I'm preparing for my Master's degree in History and German, and I really love that.
What I love about VTM is that, for me, it is like a big family. A family with which you can discuss Harry Potter but also other stuff like politics or just daily life topics. I've made some great friends here from all over the world and I'm so thankful for that. I feel we're this great group and it's not inpersonal.
I've been here for a year now, and look in every day. I love VTM so much and I couldn't imagine my life without it anymore.
That could be in a love letter

Anyway, I'll do anything for this site, that's why I want to join I.N.V.A.I.D

Wow. I thought I might go ahead and join bebo too since... well, why not? And so I went to register, and as it turns out, I'm already a member at bebo. I can't remember ever signing up for it, but apparently I did. Based on one or two things that were there, I'm guessing it was probably as much as two years ago that I joined bebo, and I've just never used it, but... well, there you go. I can join that one too now, and will also link VTM from there when I get my page up and going... Yay!
Hmm... now, how do I find the VTM page on bebo?

Jul 28 2006, 10:53 PM
No, you just put a link to veritaserum on bebo. That is what I did on my website. Put a link on, hopefully it will help. I am still clicking on Google but it isn't moving up. Oh well, just have to keep clicking.

Hey all! I just wanted to touch on what James just mentioned about VTM's Google rating. Albus-wan posted a list of several Google homepages for various countries and the rest of us "Peevers" have been adding to it. It's pretty impressive now; I think we're up to 22 or 23 links. The list is very convenient for anyone who has some time to spare and wants to try to get VTM's Google rank up. While
INVAID (the Institute for Nabbing Veritaserum the Attention It Deserves) covers the overall goal of getting VTM the attention it deserves,
GO PEEVES (Google Operation Promoting the Enhanced Execution of VTM's Elevated Status) is focused pretty much on Google. If you want to help out the GO PEEVES side of the house, click
here. This should take you to Albus-wan's ever-growing list of Google sites.
Time for more clicking...

Thanks for the plug, Zophael. Welcome to all the new Invaiders! It's clear we're making waves already.

I wanted to know what sort of help we can get from the fan fic angle. Since I have very limited experience in the world of fan fics I was wondering if someone who's a little bit more in the know could post a list of some of the more major fan fic websites.
Once we get a good list, maybe some of our excellent writers of fan fics could begin posting some of their best works on those sites and include a link to VTM which says, "This work was originally posted on www.veritaserum.com in their excellent fan fiction section" or something to the sort.
So, who knows what some prominent fan fiction sites are?
Zophael
Jul 29 2006, 05:57 PM
Albus,
I know of a couple of sites... there is
Everything2 which is pretty decent and is well-frequented by Harry Potter fans.
FictionAlley isn't bad either except that it claims to be the #1 Harry Potter website (*ahem*) but anyway... For adult Harry Potter fans, there is
Diagon Alley.
Hope that helps...

I like to join. One thing that I like about Veritaserum is that everyone is nice to everyone else. I mean I've been by the Mugglenet boards and there's just so much negativity there. And I've found that the news on this page is exactly the same as other news sites, and that things have been put on here before anywhere else sometimes.

As of now, you're an Invaider Amy - Welcome.

I'm no troubleshooting manual when it comes to Fan Fiction. My suggestion for another site host is
FanFiction[.net]. It is vast, huge, labyrinth-like and full of spectacular works by various people. It obtains a heck load of hits everyday according to the Hit Counter they installed way back then, however, since now and the last time I checked - it's disappeared.
I agree with Sam, once we get a list of stories then we'll be able to spread our genious to the public. We watermark it with our links and we're good to go.

You see what happens when you take a month off to go on vacation!? People come up with incredible ideas for fantastic causes, and you miss out on all of the fun!
Sam, I have to applaud you for starting this. We all know that Veritaserum is the best Harry Potter fansite on the web, but unfortunately for many fellow fanatics, they have not come to such a realization. It is about time we promote this awesome place, and allow some others to see what the site is really about!
I could go on and on about why VTM is the best, but I would just be repeating what everybody has already said. All you have to do is look around, see the in-depth discussions, and get to know your fellow member. The site is welcoming to everybody who might wander into it!
So, definitely count me in on I.N.V.A.I.D.!

Haha, welcome David, and don't worry, I know exactly how you feel like.

As for fanfiction sites, the most visited one I know is the one Jordan said. Another one is
harrypotterfanfiction.com. It seemed to me as though it's the largest HP fanfic site. Oh, and of course, there's
Ashwinder, which some of us on here love.
Oh, and another thing, there's this website called 'Grab', and I've put VTM as my homepage on it. I might post a bulletin on it as well.

Sam, the main, the big (and i mean really big) fanfiction site is
fanfiction.net It's not just Harry Potter but pretty much every fandom you could imagine. Another one is
skyehawke it's a smaller fanfic site (again does lots of fandoms) but it's a closed community, (only certain people can be members and post fanfiction there) so i'm not too sure that it would be the best one as it takes a while to become a member. But, as because it only allows certain people to post their work on, people would think that the fanfiction site on VTM was also wonderful and intice people to VTM that way

Another site is
sugarquill i'm not too sure how that one works as i'm not a member of it, but i know it's pretty popular.
Also, there are communtiies on
LiveJournal which post fanfiction.
Hope that helps a bit

Hey! I think VTM is an awesome site because it has fast updates, an amazing forum, all the movie and book gossip and so much more! I can't see how anyone wouldn't like this site! Also it has devoted members that want VTM to soar above the rest. I think INVAID is a smart "group" to join because VTM does deserve all the glory and respect any other site does.

The joining frenzy has calmed a bit, so I won't feel bad mentioning specific members as they join. Welcome Caoo, Spencer Potter, and just_like_hermione! We're glad to have you here.
Now, since I've taken to writing lists to make sure things stay organized here, I'll jot down the fan fic sites that have been mentioned so far:
- Ashwinder
- Diagon Alley
- everything2.com
- FanFiction
- FictionAlley
- harrypotterfanfiction.com
- skyehawke
Please be aware that I know nothing about any of these sites, so I cannot vouch for any of them. Please be careful when visiting any site that you are not already familiar with!
If you have written any fan fics that you are pleased with, evaluate the websites and see if your fic would fit in any of them. Also note and report back to us whether it is acceptable to post that the fic was originally posted on VTM with to veritaserum.com. Then post your fic so that we can get more people interested in coming over here. Good luck!

I used to come on here a lot, just to check for HP updates and news, and I just recently found out how awesome the forums are. I joined, and here I am, trying to get more people to find V.
Id like to join, because i came to VTM from google, and i am on about as much as possible, checking for updates, and discussing HP on the forums, id agree that VTM deserves more recognition, and id be glad to help.

VTM positions are down compared to last Friday's positions.
When this is the result of a hundred members clicking, it doesn't seem to be very effective. What will happen if we stop clicking, I wonder. Will it then slide down much more rapidly? What are we doing wrong?
There must be a way for G.O. P.E.E.V.E.S. to make a little more impact!

That's okay Annie. GO PEEVES needs another infusion of enthusiasm. I think it's almost time to launch Project:FAWKES. It seems like people may be getting a little relaxed about getting VTM to the top. That's okay though. A little rest is okay. Not too long from now we'll launch a new wave and I think we can get a couple of the Google pages to page one.
Welcome to HPFan792, LLTWK, matty-g, and Emma. We appreciate your membership. Have you got any ideas?
Anyone had any success with fan fictions. I've actually started working on one with the express purpose of being able to post it on other sites to get people to come here?
What about the Live Journals, and the linking? If someone posts something on a Live Journal, let us know. We can go by and post positive comments about it and maybe draw even more attention to the site.

Do you want me to put in a "Hey check out Veritaserum.com where they have nothing except pure Harry Potter wizardry" in every review I do for fanfiction and would you like me to put it in an author's note in my fanfiction?
Albus-wan
Aug 8 2006, 12:10 AM
Yes, definitely, but only if they allow that sort of thing on the websites where you post your fic and do the reviews--remember we don't want to get other websites mad at us, and we especially don't want people to get the impression that VTM is a place where people don't care about the rules.
Since I haven't frequented the fan fics recently, I'm not sure what fics you've posted here, but maybe you can put something like "If you liked this, check out my other fics at www.veritaserum.com". Or if you review someone's Harry Potter fan fic, in the review you might put "You should consider posting some of your fics on www.veritaserum.com -- they have some of the best HP fan fics on the internet. You're a great writer and would fit right in on the fan fic forum."

Hello all, Im angie (AKA Nymphadora), and I actually discovered VTM on a search engine while I was doing a project at school on famous people with my name a few months back, and I got hooked, often spending several hours on VTM at a time. I searched the internet to see if there were any other HP sites that were this good, and I just couldnt get used to anything, and i liked how VTM was organized, rather than places like mugglenet and HPANA. I would love to help get the ratings back up on VTM, because more people deserve to have as much fun on VTM as other people have.

Well gosh! Where have I been?

LOL! I want to I.N.V.A.I.D. too.
I don't want to bore you all with a long intro, but I'm Cori and VTM is my cyber home. I first discovered this wonderful gem of a site when looking for updates for P.o.A. It took me a while to venture into the forums, but once I did, the rest's history. I'm utterly addicted!
Anyhoo, you know, I was thinking that in most of our personal e-mails, we have the ability to use a signature (like with our business e-mails, right), so what about putting a VTM link in our personal e-mail addresses?

This way when we e-mail our friends, and maybe a few relatives, etc, it will at least expose them to to the site. That's my probably not so brilliant idea... but I'm sticking to it.
Cheers!
