Grave of the Fireflies is dated back in post-World War II.

It is about a little girl and her older brother have to fight to survive in post-World War Japan--I'm not going to give it all away.

You will have to see it for yourself...it is really, really sad sad.gif

Well, when they do, they make the moderators extremely angry and agitated. I will however, let this fly since the other thread seems to have drowned.

KARE KANO ROCKSS!!! So does Cardcaptor Sakura and Yu-Gi-Oh. (Kaiba and Syaoran are just LOVELY, lol.)
Draco_Loves_Me_69
I just saw ppl talk about it.. not a thred.. anyway,... yeah, Grave of the Fireflies sounds kool! I will look around or order it if I can.

Oh yeah, and NastyShort, they do rock! thnx for reminding me about Card Captors. I forgot to put it on my list!

Flygal101
my friends had one of those books....and i read it .....it was ok.....i liked it......
doomed_renascence
I think most of you would know Doraemon if you're from Hong Kong or some other Asian background. But if you know it from somewhere else, tell me! I wanna know, lol.

It's about this blue and white being that can pull ANYTHING from his pocket that is attached to his stomach. He's really cute and nice, and if I can remember, he takes quite a liking to pastries...heh. Ohhh yeah, he can fly too, because he can have a little propeller [sp] thing that shoots up from his head when he needs to fly. His friend is this boy that lets him live in his room. He has adventures with this boy and his friends.

Here's a picture:

clint_deville
can anyone tell me the channel and time for anime. i used to watch it on cartoon network but dont know the time.. also is there any other channels
doomed_renascence
You can still tune into Cartoon Network for anime, but they show it late, at like...12:30am in the morning and later.

They only have a few series of anime though (they're airing FMA [Full Metal Alchemist] in the beginning of Nov! AIE happy.gif); unless you consider YugiOh/Pokemon/DragonBallZ anime. Those you can see afterschool (usually) on Cartoon Network, or the WB.
clint_deville
No, I used to like pokemon and all of those when i was like... 8 . im almost 14 and want real anime now. Also, what manga books do yall recomend. i heard there was a good one about a guy who was part demon and he fights with a girl. is it any good. Do yall now any good anime/manga websites.

Oh! I like BEYBLADE as well. Umm...DRAGONBALLZ[*sob sob* I don't know what is the ending]. I like SAILORMOON[I think there is a person upthere who misspelled it(sp?)]. I also like SUPER DOLL LICCA.

Hmm...*thinks hard* Ah-hah! POKEMON...! Heh! dry.gif
Princess_Hermione
"Lupin the Third" really ROX!!! biggrin.gif

They're showing Full Metal Alchemist on Cartoon Network at 12AM on Saturdays! Although I think the english dubbing is really bad...Nothing can be compared to how they dubbed Inuyasha in english though, it's incredible.

New anime that I've seen: Bleach
It's about spirits. Six episodes are out so far, and there are at least 142 chapters for mangas I think. The beginning theme is a nice too, lol.

Tokyopop has A LOT of mangas. This one manga store has more than half of the wall filled with only Tokyopop brand mangas.

Hm, does anyone know how many episodes of Prince of Tennis there are going to issue? There are already 135 episodes...which is one of the longest anime I've ever seen (Inuyasha tops all, more than 150 episodes I heard).
audreypotter123
Hi. umm.. my faves are

[COLOR=green]
Princass Mononoke
Spirited Away
Castle in the Sky
Panda Go Panda(TV show)
My Neighbor Totoro
Dragon Ball Z!

I have more but i cant think of the names right now my mind is kind of BLANK! laugh.gif
audreypotter123
My other Favourites are

Shaman King (comic not show)

Cowboy Bebop

Samuri Jack (i know this isnt really manga but its really good!)

I still have more coming!
aleja23
I read like a synthesis of Hana Yori Dango and I like it, it was pretty good, I haven´t seen the anime, but I like what I read, somethings make me laugh, but other things were cruel, like the things the F4 did to Tsukushi they were mean! Did you know a page where I can get the manga, I would like to see the drawings!
audreypotter123
I dont think that Samuri Jack is Anime. Oh well.

But i just read this really good anime comic called Ranma half. It is sooooo good to hear it!
Raska
I'm a big fan of...
Naruto
Hikaru no go
DBZ
Shaman King
Sailor Moon
Yu-gi-oh
Chobits
and more though I can't think of any right now.
Luv.
orangephoenix
I don't really watch anime, my friend's really into it but it's never rubbed off on me I s'pose....I guess I would get into it if I didn't have HP to keep me busy lol...
Dman
for those people who wants to get into anime or wanna watch a good anime i recomend this

1. Wolf's Rain (awesome storyline and drawing!!)
2. Bleach (i love this, kubotite rock, the anime is abit diff then the manga version but its still awesome!!)
3.Naruto (Ninja stuff)
feshnie
I like-

Anime-
-Cardcaptor Sakura(I like all CLAMP's works. Those girls rock)
-Angelic Layer(Shame I've never watched Chobits)
-Rurouni Kenshin
-Dragon Ball(Z, GT)
-Digimon 1, 02, Tamers and, even if I never saw the anime, Frontier(Internet are very useful happy.gif)
-Medabots
-Pokemon(Too bad they don't air it here anymore)
-Inuyasha
-Mon Colle Knight

Manga-
-Hakime Kindaichi case files(Or something across those lines)
-Q Detective School(or was it Dan Detective school? Oh well)
-Demon Diary

I've never actually 'seen' Inuyasha but the Internet is very useful. Same as Frontier and CCS's first movie. I'm just so glad they're airing Naruto here cause I've been wondering why many people like it. It's good story, isn't it?
Solembum
I am obsessed with anime and I doubt you can find someone who has a larger collection then I do... Well for starters my favorite anime would have to be Naruto. Naruto is simply the best. I'll just list my 5 favorites:
1. Naruto
2. Full Metal Alchemist
3. Samurai Champloo
4. Bleach
5. Initial D Fourth Stage

I'll also list my large collection of anime. It is all on my computer. It's the Japanese version with English subtitles. Dubbed anime is terrible and I refuse to watch it.

I have: 140 Episodes of Naruto including the movie and the two Jump Fiesta Episodes (series is still continuing)
51 (all) of Full Metal Alchemist
26 (all) of Chobits
26 (all) of Samurai Champloo
26 (all) of Samurai 7
37 Episodes of Bleach (series is still continuing)
7 Episodes of Basilisk (continuing)
12 Episodes of the Tsubasa Chronicle (series is still continuing)
14 (all) of Initial D Fourth Stage including the Battle Stage episode
16 Episodes of Beet the Vandel Buster which I'm not sure if it is over or not...
13 (all) of Elfen Lied
Episodes 1-23 and episode 26 of Witch Hunter Robin
2 Episodes of Full Metal Panic Fumoffu
17 Episodes of Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex and both movies
6 Episodes of Kenshin
2 Episodes of Love Hina
8 Episodes of The Law of Ueki (continuing)
7 Episodes of Trinity Blood (continuing)
9 Episodes of Mahou Sensei Negima (continuing)
11 Episodes of Samurai Deeper Kyo
26 (all) of Cowboy Bebop
3 Episodes of Xenosage the Animation
18 Episodes of Ragnarok the Animation
I also have Princess Mononoke and had Spirted Away but delete because it was terrible...

So I have over 80 Gigabytes of anime on computer and it's still growing! Yup.... I don't really like manga...
gryffin_hauz_88
Oh, I really love anime though I don't have a long list of favorites like the others, I have some favorites:

Yu Yu Hakusho- I love Youko Kurama. He's the reason why I love it. I watched the two OVAs of this anime.
Hunter X Hunter- I like it because it's as if I'm watching Yu Yu Hakusho. biggrin.gif
BT X- I don't know if this one is familiar but this is the very first anime that I adored. I love Fao and his BT, Jutaime.
Love Hina- this one is so funny.
Fushigi Yuugi- My best friend and I really love this one! (but my best friend really, really love it!)
Flame of Recca- I just love Tokiya Mikagami.
Mojacko- this one is also funny and I love Mojaru(?) everytime he is crying.
Doraemon- This anime is so memorable. The whole class, when I was in high school loves this!
Akazukin Cha- Cha- I love Seravi and Dorothy(?).
Card Captor Sakura- I love Touya.
Slam Dunk- I love the story about sports.
Naruto- The story is great. I love Sasuke.
GTO- I love it. It's about a teacher who's not acting like a teacher.

I'm looking for the story but I'm more for the characters (if you noticed my reasons... biggrin.gif ). It's just I love watching a show if I love the characters. biggrin.gif
The-Fat-Lady
I love anime and manga! I'm not really a huge fan of the shows/comics, I do like Pokemon and Teen Titans though, but only the old Pokemon cartoons with the original 150 pokemon. I know Teen Titans isn't really anime but it kindof has hints of it in the cartoon style.

I prefer drawing my own anime characters. I'm not really that good though. I based my art coursework on anime and manga drawings last year.

Anyone else draw their own anime/manga pictures?

I can prove you wrong on that lol. My friend has all the anime you can think of. It's crazy lol. But you and her are pretty close but I'd say she's still dominating on this one lol.

As for me. Crazy anime fan here lol. I've got the mangas, the posters, the music, the sheet music, the dvds, the boxsets, the episodes, the mags, etc. lol. I especially love drawing anime ^__^ my free hand ain't that great yet but copying is my specialty. I am totally against tracing. I gotta admit, I used to trace but I regret doing it. Horrible stuff. lol. Anyways, I agree with you, Solembum. Dubbed anime is horrible. Anything dubbed makes me sick. The dub I hate most right now has got to be Inuyasha. I used to be a major fan of it but ever since it got dubbed...*shudders*.

My favourite animes are:

Full Metal Alchemist
Full Moon Wo Saga****e
Takitake Japan
Fruits Basket
Get Backers
Prince of Tennis
Naruto
Kodomo No Omocha

I've been wanting to watch more anime lately but with my schedule...pfffttt...all down the drain. lol.

My favourite mangas are:

K2 (Kill Me Kiss Me)
Paradise Kiss
Girl Got Game (Power!)
Hana-Kimi
Model
Wish
Legend of Chun-Hyang
Confidential Confessions
Lament of the Lamb
Hot Gimmick
S.O.S
X2
Trigun
Shirahime-Syo
Full Moon Wo Saga****e

Yup. That's pretty much all I can think of right now. I've been wanting to read MDP Psycho but it looks way too freaky. I only wanted to read it because it was a CSI type manga lol.

Anyways, yup. That's my anime/manga freak side. lol.
Dr.Knowitall
Berserk is an amazing anime (the picture on my avatar is from Berserk) and the manga is even better. It's just amazing, watching the way these peoples fates unfold before them. Cowboy Bebop is also a good one. I love the music from that series.
keepstar1331
ok ill admit, i stay up and watch the anime on adult swim almost every night. if my friends knew i would be disowned *hehehe* I love Cowboy Bebop,Wolf's rain, full metal alchemist, and im obsessed with Inuyasha.

Well im half japanese so my cousins in japan sent over all this really cool Sailor moon stuff. like original comics and movies. thats basically how i learned the japanese i know. me and my sister's always used to play sailor moon. I was sailor jupitor because i kinda look like her. not to mention she's all sporty like me!

wolf's rain
chobits
tsubasa reservoir chronicle
naruto
yu yu hakusho
Hagane no renkunjutsushi
.hack
samurai champloo
rurouni kenshin
furi kuri
wish
shaman king

um..i know my list is pretty short but i forgot some. i plan on watching and reading more.smile.gif BTW, have you guys heard of shojo beat??it's like the girl version of shonen jump.smile.gif
PS: if you don't know why inuyasha isn't on my list, it's because i've given up hope of you know...the series actually ending
Dr.Knowitall
I have to admit, I never really got into Inuyasha. Seemed kinda silly to me. But different tastes y'know.

I did like Rurouni Kenshin, however. Wolf's rain looked pretty awesome. I loved the music.
Anaďs
Sakura, SailorMoon, Detective Conan, Mint na bokura, Marmalade Boy, Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne, Time Stranger Kyoko, IˇOˇN, YuYu Hakusho, Ultra maniac, Full Moon...

Hi there, please don't post only lists as they add little to the over all discussion in the forum and if it sets a thread it can be a bit tedious for members to read through. In the future please add a little more by giving us a few reasons why you like them or a small synopsis. Thanks Shane
gryffin_hauz_88
Same here, I never been hooked in Inuyasha. Maybe, I don't want to see someone whose physical figures are like Youko Kurama. He's the only kitsune for me.

I don't know but I was really hooked with YYH (Yu Yu Hakusho) that I almost slap a classmate who's a Hiei fan and kept criticizing Youko. I'm more of Youko than Shuiichi, the red-headed one, because he's too feminine and I actually thought he was a girl because in the first part of the anime series, Kurama's voice in the first part, before they fought the four beasts, is a voice of a woman and he is considered as a "woman". But it was changed on the latter part. But I really see him as a "girl" laugh.gif

I just want to add Weib Kruss(?) or Knight Hunters and Shaman King (an anime with an obvious yaoi/ shounen-ai character... ohmy.gif unsure.gif laugh.gif )
Dr.Knowitall
Oh God! How could I forget about Gantz. . .That manga is friggin incredible! I've never seen anything like it before. It has so much action but also an excellent story and is a great character study! It is even more unusual that in Gantz you actually feel afraid for the characters because so many of them get killed and even if they are a great character and/or very important, they will get bumped off! Amazing manga. . .

You can read it at this website, which hosts some great manga. It comes in and out of rotation though so sometimes you catch it and sometimes you don't.

Note to Mods: This is not illegal. This manga is not licensed in the US so the only possible way you can read this manga is to find fan translated scans. This goes for all the manga hosted there. It is true that Berserk is licensed but only up to a certain issue and so this site hosts the issues that aren't currently licensed.
Westerly
An anime thread....cool. I have to admit, anime is not easy to come by in NZ so there is a lot of anime I haven't seen. I know the standard ones like Sailor Moon (which I still have a soft spot for because it can be hilairious), I liked Pokemon for a while and thought that the first series was excellent - but it's dragged on way too long now.

Had a DBZ fixation, but then that died out. Then came Yu-Gi-oh which I found fascinating in a horrible way simply because it was so bad and relied on the DBZ technique of talk, talk and talk your way towards a cliff-hanger. After which - talk some more. Aaaarrrgh.

Animes that I like include the infamous NGE which seems to be a 'hate- it -or-love-it' love it type anime. Ninja Scroll )but only the first one), RG Veda (from Clamp - though I never did get to see the complete series), Blackjack, Princess Miyu, Akira (which I love) and Ghost in the Shell. Cowboy Beebop is also stylish and excellent, with a great balance of humour and maturity. Seen only a little of .hack so far.

Then Miyazaki (I've noticed plenty of people have already mentioned "Mononoke Hime" and Sen to Chihiro no Kamakaushi") I'd very much like to see some of his earlier works - "Porco Rosso", "Kiki's Delivery Service" and "My Friend Totoro". Has anyone seen his latest effort yet?

What else? I really, really liked the Animatrix DVD, and of course anime spills over into the world of gaming (games like The FF series, Chrono Cross, Star Ocean, Jade Cocoon and .hack are good examples of this.)

I guess I can say that I was anime crazy, and was willing to watch just about anything that was anime - laugh.gif - I'm still eager to wathc it when I get a chance, but maybe I'm more used to the conventions of it now, so I'm notas starry-eyed about it as I once was.
Vivi
There's not much anime shown here and if it's shown it's just a season or so and they'll repeat that until eternity. There was a time when Sailor Moon and Card Captor Sakura were shown here, but that's a few years ago already. I really don't like that it's not there anymore, because I followed the series and it was like one day it was there and the next day it was gone, and it never came back.
We've got/have had Pokémon (nice), Digimon (nice), Yu-Gi-Oh, Megaman, Sonic X, Shaman King, Dragon Ball Z, Medabots and some more. It's not really what I would like to see, but some of it is nice. I really would want that there was some more over here, but I think it's not gonna hapen soon sad.gif
I could buy dvd's but I don't have that much money laugh.gif

I don't know anything about Anime, but my best friend is an Anime fanatic. She likes Fruit Basket and Inu Yasha. The only thing close to Anime I like are the Diablo comics. wink.gif
~SapphireStar~
Ive been a fan of anime and manga for almost 10 years now. I first watched Dominion Tank Police and it became my fav anime. Me and my boyfriend have a huge anime and manga collection, we even named our Chinese dwarf hamster Edward after Ed from Cowboy Bebop.

I will never stop loving anime and have even got my friends into enjoying it!
Darkened Rei
I'm most definitely a fan of anime and I feel the need to list out some of my favorites. They're not in any order after the first two. biggrin.gif

2. Naruto [Subbed not dubbed]
3. FLCL
4. Cowboy Bebop
5. Elfen Lied
6. Blood the Last Vampire
7. Chobits
8. Chrono Crusade

Howdy!
Yeah, I LOVE anime! I've been watching them ever since I was four years old (Sailor Moon- which I still love to this day.)

Everyone has mentioned the ones I have seen and like but here they are again:

Sailor Moon
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun

Megaman
Beyblade
Dragon Ball /DB Z/ all Dragon Ball series
Pokemon

Digimon
Duel Masters
Card Captors
Hamtaro
Bubblegum Crisis
Neon Genesis Evangeleon

Cyborg009

The ones in bold are my favourites. The ones in blue are the ones I used to watch a lot of. The others I have seen.
I really wish Sailor Moon would come back!!!! It used to be back on a few years ago, but then it got taken off again! dry.gif The last time I saw it was almost three years ago, when there was a marathon and I didn't move from my bean bag, no joke. But then, we went away just near the end of the marathon (I think it went for two weeks), so I was really mad! I live in Australia, so there's never much to choose from and the more adult stuff is on at 11 at night in Adult Swim on CN. I also want Bubblegum, Cowboy and Trigun to come back but they've been replaced by Inuyasha or whichever one it is. I could buy the Cowboy series, but that's a bit of money (that I don't have). Does anyone know where I can buy EVERY episode of Sailor Moon? (as is all 5 series). I've tried eBay, but it's really expensive, especially once it's been shipped and converted into Australian Dollars.

Hmm, there are more anime/mangas that I like, but I can't think of them.
Can anyone tell me about Princess Mononoke? I don't know what it's about. I also really want to see Spirited Away but I couldn't be bothered to hire it from the local Blockbuster. Ohh and I want to see Howl's Moving Castle (and was there a movie before it? I think there was- I want to see that too.)

But, yes, I am an anime freak and I could never admit it to my friends or they would seriously disown me. It's like my own little secret. It's all so magical! biggrin.gif

I haven't seen "Princess Mononoke" or "Howl's Moving Castle", but I can say that "Spirited Away" is great. I'm really not an anime fan *ducks* but Miyazaki's style is just beautiful. The writing on his films is always bang-on as well. Props for mentions of "Cowboy Bebop" as well; great, fun stuff.

I did notice the absence of "Cromartie High" and "Excel Saga"; thought I'd throw them out there. I'm not a huge fan of either ("Excel Saga"'s manga version is quite hilarious in a slightly distrubing way, though), but if you haven't seen Freddie yet (of "Cromartie High"), you don't know what you're missing. Really. I'd recommend both with a caution to those under seventeen, probably. Especially on "Excel Saga". But there are some adults, surely, who spirit this forum, so have at it.
