Hi there - my name is Di and i have just joined the site. I am 44yrs old and have only just read the HP books - in fact i only started reading them 3 weeks ago and have just finished half-blood prince - so you can tell i am hooked. I have seen all the films up to date and have enjoyed them too!
In fact i now feel at a loss - so will probably end up re-reading them to see what i may have missed.

Apart from a HP fan - i work in a vets and have 2 border collies - sally and meg and a hubbie and 2 boys dan and luke. I also love horses and ride as often as i can. i live in the lake district and get out on then fells most weekends.

Favourite authors would be stephen king/james herbert/tolkien and of course rowling. I can be an obessive reader sometimes and read until i feel sick!!!! - just cant put em down!!!

Welcome Everyone to Veritaserum!!


Wow!! What a big list of new members we have gotten. What an exciting time we are in right now. Between the new OotP movie and the final book both being released in July, there is a lot going on in the world of Harry Potter.

I am sorry but with such a huge back log of new members I will not be able to greet each of you but I do have some general things I would like to pass on.

I read several comments from our new members wondering if they were the oldest here. Do not worry, you are in good company. We have quite a few older fans here, myself included. For those "older" members, we have a thread here to discuss Harry Potter and us senior citizens.

For everyone, we have many different clubs located in our Lounge area to discuss your favorite characters. This thread here has a list of all the clubs we offer. Also, for those of you who have not done so, please stop by our Sorting area and get Sorted into your house and take any of the other quizzes we offer. Please remember though that members may only be Sorted once.

For those of you who enjoy a good in depth debate, we offer the Duelling Club. After you have been with Veritaserum for a month, you may apply to join the Duelling Club. Instructions for this can he found here. All of our posts are in the Great Hall. The rules are more strict in there and members are expected to post well thought out points of discussion. It is not for the casual poster. For those of us who love a good debate, the Duelling Club is an ideal place to go head to head with your fellow Duelling Club members.

Crabbe & Goyle are not ones I usually see listed as least favorite characters. Members here tend to dislike Umbridge and Snape the most. I have never really cared for Crabbe or Goyle one way or another. They are good comic relief characters though.

Since you mentioned that you like to meet new people, I would recommend posting in our Newbies Common Room found here. It is a great place to meet new members like yourself.

Hi, my name is Tamaryn (please don't call me Tammy - Tam or Tams if you want to shorten my name). I'm 22, from South Africa; and I've been a Harry Potter fan for about.....well, let's say I read PS In December and been hooked since. I loved the movies too - but they don't do the books justice. Especially the longer books!
My hobbies include reading and exercising, playing sport etc (although you wouldn't say it now; I'm currently sitting with a bad ankle sprain and enduring hours of physio)
I work as a receptionist (it's awful) whilst I'm studying part-time to be a high school teacher.

How you came across Veritaserum: I just stumbled upon this site about 3 years ago while searching the web for anything Harry Potter. I thought this one's the best and have been visiting every now and then to get the latest scoop. But I've just decided to join the forum. I've been reading and re-reading the entire series for 3 years now. I think the plot is great and there's always something new in store. I've just reserved my copy of HP7.
