How do you think the battla of Voldemort vs Dumbledor should be? Do you think it should be fast and confusing?
hmmm...i think it should be very fast moving and exciting.... loud too. i guess it should be "scary" but w/e. I want the movie to emphisize harry being posessed as well. that's important.

I think it should look like a fight from Star Wars or like a sword fight. Very fast and non-stop action. Not like DD does a move then stops for a minute, and then Voldy does a move then stops. Not the slow action, but exhilerating fighting, make it look like one is sooooo close to dying.

Well I always imagined it as sort of a dance...the way Dumbledore and Voldemort whirl around and apparate/dissapparate to deter spells. I dont think the golden statues will make the cut but it will be cool if they do... but i really hope they keep the part where LV is trapped by Dumbledores cocoon of water... that was cool

Like k_weber08, I envisaged a Darth Vader/Obe Wan type fast and furious battle with the whole flashing wands thing going on and the twisting blurring of robes as they apparate and disapparate. That would be awesome!

Yeah I agree..But if it is Michael Gambon playing Dumbledore where he doesn't know how to play Dumbledore he will sweat and be running around and be like UHH everytime he fires a spell, unlike Dumbledore who should do it calmly with presence but fastly at the same time.
I cannot wait till this scene..I bet it will take quite abit of time filming.

Aug 8 2006, 05:36 AM
I would have to disagree with you James..... i believe that with some work... and a costume designer who wasnt an idiot, Michael Gambon would be quite acceptable.... I get chills when I hear his voice... it is as I imagined Dumbledore.... Maybe it was only me, but when Black entered the Castle in PoA I felt quite safe hearing Dumbledore saying "secure th castle mr filch" or whatever... i believe that with this last movie and all of the negativity we had toward Gambon, the director will clean him up a bit.... i think he is great!!!

Aug 8 2006, 01:07 PM
Personally I prefer Richard Harris..I am sure Michael is a great actor, and he is a great actor but I don't think he is right for Dumbledore, he just doesn't do that character justice for me cause it isn't how I picture Dumbledore..I hope he gets better in this next movie, I don't want to come out of the cinema and say, "That fight wasn't what I wanted it to be" like I did with Goblet of Fire. But I'm glad that you think Michael is great, wish I did.

Have you heard that Goldenberg has written this part three times??? I think that they are trying to make it EXTRAORDINARY...it is the biggest battle in HPSeries...including the whole war witrh Deatheaters in DOM...It would be quick movi9ng, extraordinary, with many effects...I can't wait

Well, I think that there should also be a bit of Harry yelling spells at voldemort and end up in the end of the Department of mysteries thing with a broken leg, it's just added on action. I really think the scene should be fast and zooming from camera to camera and Harry in the middle of it screaming out "No! Dumbledore, watch out!" But then again the scene has already been shot, I think the whole movie has already been shot mostly, I think now they're just putting in special effects. But then again it's not comming out until july 2007, so you never know. All I know is that I can't wait for the next movie and the next book. It's to long to wait.

I think the battle should be exactly how the book makes it! In the book this part kept me hooked i hope that is there in the film! In all the other films they have missed things out and not emphasised how much dumbledore or sirius care for harry.... or in this case how scared voldemort is of dumbledore. I think the battle should be one of the most important parts of the film. The whole of the battle in the ministry should be as much emphasised as in the book. i think this film is very important it is the next step of harrys life it takes him from being a boy to being a man. i hope they make this film the very best and the battle lives up to reputation!! i hope it is'nt fast and confusing i hope it shows clearly every detail. I hope this film rocks.

I was reading OoTP yesterday when i realised that J.K never really says the battle was fast. Yes there were a lot of things happening, but they never said the fight was fast. BUt to be honest. It would be a bit of an upset if it wasn't because it just would be rather boring. I think that the driector should make a very quick paced duel, but not a short one. Because in the book it is very short compard to other things.

Yeah, unfortunately the fight is short in the film...But I think that it would be awesome!!!You know, when the golden statued are coming to life and fight, Voldemort and Dumbledore fighting with many powerful spells....I think it IS gonna be awesome!

Well, I don't know... I thibnk they'll either cut almost everything so there'll be almost nothing left ot they'll make it really loooong, like the dragon scene in GoF... I'll be kinda' pleased either way actually, I don't care that much about Dumbledore, they made him all wrong from the beginning so I've lost interest for him (in the movies, I still love him in the books of course).

I think that Gambon IS a hilarious actor but o.k., I know what you mean

(Dumbledore is "edgy"in the last two films)I don't give a damn which small scenes they are gonna to cut out but they have confirmed SOP many things, almost the whole book!

So, I don't think that they are gonna cut things so as to be capable of enlarging the final showdown

Perhaps some scenes at the beginning of Department of Mysteries, youy know, when the kids discover the rooms may be quicker than these in the book..

I think the fight should be a decent length...not too long, but not so short so that you are like...what happened? I think that they should have the statue and that part where Dumbledore jinks it so that they come to life. That would be awsome.

This is going to be the best part of the movie, I hope. But knowing Warner Bros, they always like to go all the way on the fighting scenes so it should be awsome. But I really like Gambon as Dumbledore for the fighting scenes, Harris is of course the best but I always thought he looked kinda frail. But either way its going to awsome!!

Star Wars received praise for its fight scenes. This should make Star Wars look like Teletubbies. The sequence should be about a minute long, but be very fast paced. There should be quick apparition, but the camera should not jump all over.

Personally, I think that the fighting part where Voldemort fights with Dumbledore must be around 3-4 minutes!!!But, all of it really fast paced and excitin...we shall stay with the mouth slightly open!!!!!And of course, we have all these scenes before in the Department of Mysteries, the flight with Thestrals and the fight in the forest so, I think that all of it(for about 45 minutes)is gonna be something more than just exciting and be praised for the battle scenes!!!
I can't wait...just hope it's big and spectacular

I agree with whoever said that before, about emphasising the bit where he's possessed - they should make that dead scary.... but they should also make Voldemort even more freaky than GOF though.
I think the fight with Voldemort should be more intense than the last, and should last longer!

I think that it should be really fast and exilarating ect and it should have loads of suspence an make us in the cinema sit on the edges of our seets with excitment
When Sirius dies i want it to be even more emotional then when cedric died ( that made me cry in the cinema lol) and it should make everyone cry ad it should be really sad and dramatic and sumfin that makes u want to cry ur heart out

I hope its not like a typical movie shoot out or fight... the camera moves around so much and you can't really tell whats going on except you see a punch here or there... I hope the camera is steady like the fight Harry and Voldemort had in the 4th movie. You could clearly see both of them and what was going on around them. If Voldemort and Dumbledore were to fight like that, I think it would much more exciting because you could actually see them fighting, not just a bunch of spells being shot and the camera jumping around.

iīm really afraid to say that, but i think this is what it will turn out to be...this hollywood good vs. evil style fight. i hope it will be like the graveyard scene in GoF too.
unfortunately the movie canīt be 5 hours long (as it should be lol) and they cut it all together, so itīll be a short fight...

I know exactly how I want this fight to be, but I don't know if everyone will agree with me. Several posts on the first page seem to indicate that they want a fast paced battle. "Star Wars-esk" isn't a direct quote, but basically what they were trying to say. Others on this page say they want the fight not shot so "hollywood" with a more steady camera. So I don't know that my idea will fit what others feel, but here goes.
The way I envision the battle is very close to the books. You'll notice in the battle that spells aren't just flying everywhere the way they are in the Veil room. In the one-on-one dual, both parties are calculating. The task isn't to simply overcome your opponent. It isn't a shootout. Both parties are too good for that. The moments between spells are almost subdued, the point being to build tension in the scene. The two exchange well-written banter, trying to get into the other's head, trying to catch the other off-guard. Both of them are weary of their opponent. As far as they know, only the other is powerful enough to be an equal. They are the only real threats to each other. The tension should be built with music, cinematography, and visual effects. The actors will be required to do a lot in this scene, and by a lot, I mean stand around and look mean and calculating. (I'm being serious. This is hard work.) Fawkes should be circling around Dumbledore. If they take that part out, I'll be mad. It shouldn't just be about high action. That's what the scene at the veil is about. This scene should show the true power of Dumbledore and Voldemort by showing their restraint, their patience, and their cunning.

i think the battle between DD and LV should be more like a duel at first, then turn into a random assortment of spells, curses, and charms, or mabey it should be like the battle between qui-gon qin, and darth maul in phantom mennice
just to add to my other comment, i also agree with 'hermione's twin' about the music, it should be dramatic, also mabye the battle should be more like a dance, who knows

I never thought about the big duel between Dumbledore and Voldemort at the end with a little Harry. That final scene is going to be so fast moving and loud, omg, I really don't think that long! The more I think about all the things that go on in the fifth book, the more I want to see the movie!

They will almost certainly have it because in an interview i caught a glimpse of the fountain. I hope they show all of the fight and EXACTLY how it happens in the book, not some new special way.

I think it should be with a bunch of action and suspense like the lightsabre duels in Star Wars, with DD and Voldemort disapperating and apperating at the very last moment to avoid each others spells and that sort of thing.

I want it to be fast, dark dramatic, exciting, but not tooo confusing. I always pictured DD just standing and throw his hands out in quick little flicks to block thigns with high skill. I pictured LV making bigger hand motions like he was reallym trying to kill DD and he was angry. I also think the backround should be amazing. Dark statues with water spewing everywhere from the fountain that broke in the msit of the fight. Harry would be blurred out a little in the backround and brought back into view at the right moments and they switch the camera from person to person but not too fast. I really hope they do this scene justice. I also want there to be chaos, not too neat. I hope it's what everybody hopes for!

..just wanted to say..I like the first Dumbly-Dore, cause he has more of the nice-ness and the eyes you know? That Dumbledore was a nice guy. He was understanding and funny and all. And the new one is funny too, but he looks kinda un-attached and proffessional instead, and strange [thats good, cause the other one wasent as strange/odd as he shouldve been..] but he did look more powerful. But ah well. haha

I think that duel will be great fun to watch. Dumbledore will be calm as can be chatting to Voldy like they're having tea and Voldy will be angered at this an hastily trying to do Dumbledore in. Voldy will want Dumbledore to try and kill him because he knows he's invinceibal but doesn't think Dumbledore is in the the secret. Take that TOM!

I also always imagineditas sortof dance the way Dumbledore and Voldemort whirlaround and a Apperate /Dissapperate to deter spells likeit's done in the 5th book on the battle , it woild be cool if the golden statues shields Harry from Voldemort's spells like it's done in the book , but I really hope they keep the part where Voldemort is trapped by Dumbledore's cocoon of water ... and Harry gets Possessed andthen thinks of Sirius and then gets out of it by thinkg how much he loves his godfather . That would be cool too if it was fast paced , dark and exciting enough to hook me in .
