It's more of a trivial thing, but has anyone noticed that Lucius has apparently made no attempt to escape from Azkaban? Now the dementors have left, it is surely a lot easier to do though?
Like Wormtail, I think he is now biding his time and could even potentially turn to the good side, if he knew he's get away with it.

Yes. True. He hasnt tryed to escape...that we know of. They may have something else guarding Azkaban. Well Obviously...But maybe its so ething they've found worse than death eaters. Maybe Lucius can't figure a way top get out though. We know Sirius escaped by turning into the dog. but how would Lucius get out? Since what we know, he isnt an animagus. So...if your right by saying that hes trying to escape...how would he escape?

Maybe Lucius has not tried to escape Azkaban because he is either one waiting for some kind of repreive from the D.O.M if he turns over a leaf and offers info about Lord V's doings and wherabouts, or two he is waiting for Snape and Draco to sneak in there and get him out using some kind of invisibility potion of some sort. It's just a thought, but I think he is sitting, waiting , and biding his time for something to happen.

I think he's staying in Azkaban because like Dumbledores says. Voldermort's angry with Lucious for the fiasco at the Ministry and him juggling Voldermort's soul around, like a toy.

I think hes staying in Azkaban for the moment to bide time and break out at the right time, because honestly, They could break out whenever they want but they are waiting. Mostly because of Draco's Task.

I think the reason that he's staying in Azkaban "peacefully" is because he's afraid of Voldemort! I mean, he messed up. Old Voldy's not gonna be happy with him once he eventually gets out. If I were him, I would stay in there as long as I possibly could.

lucius is a cowhard...he chooses the easiest way and thatīs staying in askaban for the moment.voldemortīs still angry with him so itīs better for him to stay in prison.
when the DE come to get him out he can simply say : it was impossible for me to escape, even though i tried...

i think that lucius, like others have said, is indeed a coward and is simply using his imprisonment in azkaban to his advantage to hide from voldemort!

If the dark lord get the good old lucius, than has lucius problems.
He and his Deatheaters wrecks the mission in the Department of Mysteries...
Voldemort will kill him...
I also would stay in azkabane... I would rather stay by dementors, than by HIM...
Who not?

What if he is guarding one of the horcrux in azkaban

That's a good question. How are they keeping everyone in Azkaban? What's keeping them there? I guess they have wizards and stuff protecting them. I agree that Lucius probobly isn't too eager to leave and face Voldemort. I don't think that Lucius would turn good. It's not in his character. Draco might. He's always shown a bit of ambivilance towards the dark arts, masked by false confidence. He's a lot like snape in a lot of ways, though not nearly as clever. Not by a long shot. But I don't think that the same could be said for Lucius.
Oh, and I don't think that he'd be guarding a horcrux in azkaban. I doubt very much if they are allowed any personal items. There might be one hidden somewhere that he knows about (though not at his house. It was checked).

He knew that if he would excape, that Voldemort would be very angry to the point of killing him. Lucius is the kind of person who will change sides inorder to be on the side taht is currently in power. He quickly changed sides after Voldemort fell and again when Voldemort rose. He is more afriad of his life the he is afriad of which side to be on. So he is perfectly content ot be locked in Azkaban while others decide which side will eminently become the victor.

I don't think it's easier to get out of Azkaban now even if there are no dementors there. I would assume the Rufus Scrimgeour would put extra security there to keep the death eaters in Azkaban. Rufus is smarter than Fudge and knows he has to keep death eaters away from Voldy.

I am sure they do have something to keep the prisoners in Azkaban. They would have to have something or all the prisoners would get out other than the Death Eaters. I think the Dementors just made it easier to keep them in. I am not sure if I will go along with Lucius being afraid of Voldemort. I know he is a low life, but I don't know that he would sacrifice his son to Voldemort if he could stop it. I think Voldemort knows that Lucius couldn't get out and that is why he is punishing him, because Lucius is of no use to him. I could be wrong, but I just don't see Lucius throwing Draco in harms way with Voldemort.

I think that Lucius is scared of LV because he was in charge of getting the prphecy at the ministry. I'm sure that he's worried for Draco but he was in Slytherin, and Slytherins usually chose to save their own necks than to be noble, well thats what Phineas said to Harry.

I would hav to say that the reason Lucius hasn't tried to escape from Azkaban is that he is hiding there for his own safety. After all he did lose the prophecy and got arrested along with a couple others. He's obviously down for death on Voldemort's list of people to kill. Probly just behind Harry since Dumbledore's gone. So think about it, do you really think he would try to escape from prison to meet his death? Only time will tell, and by that i mean HPDH.
Another thing, since there are no dementors or anything there it would be just as easy if not easier for someone to break into Azkaban and kill Lucius before he gets a chance to flee. So either way Lucius is a dead man and his days are limited. Whether by his escaping to his death or someone coming to kill him, his life iz over!
