Honestly, it depends. I'm not the kind of person to let people get tortured or hurt, but you aso have to think of the entirity of the situation. If there were other wizards around (not a Dark Wizard) who were probably more experienced than me in terms of magic and such, then I wouldn't jump in and get in over my head, because chances are I'll be outnumbered skill-wise (if not in numbers) and I'll just get tortured all the same.
However. If there is no one around to help the young boy then I would immediately step in regardless of the consequences and help the boy escape even if it meant I get captured in exchange.
