Oooh, I was waiting for someone to make a thread about this

heh.
I'm not too sure myself. I don't pay much attention though, since I'm not of age to vote yet (just three more years for me). But don't get me wrong, I think it's extremely important that one should vote.
But if I had a choice, I would pick Kerry. I heard that he's not a good person either, but better than Bush. I must say, I don't perticularly agree with how he dealt with the problems after 9/11, especially that war.
What are your opinions halfbloodprincess15?

heh heh heh....yeah....I was wondering who'd be brave enough to post something along these lines too....
Well....as Big Brother sees all, hears all.....maybe I'd better be careful what I say.....
Let's just say that coming from the other side of the pond, I can't say that there's much of a general consensus of support over here for a certain current president anymore....not after the absolute fiasco that was the war.......
I think almost anyone would be preferred over Bush really.....but then, our current Prime Minister is hanging on by the skin of his teeth too, I think.....there really is a strong backlash against what happened during the war, on many different levels.....

If I had to choose between the 2 I'd vote for Bush. But honestly I don't want either of them.

Between both of those horrible candidates, I'd have to say Kerry because I don't trust Bush. AND with the throwing of insults at the Democratic Party? What is with that? I really don't want such a person to get angry at my country like that! Decrying Kerry's Vietnam badges? Are you kidding me? This isn't war Bush, so stop it. Okay I know I changed my 3rd person to 2nd person lol. I know I'm inconsistent.
In New York, I really thought we'd go Democratic like we always do but my friend said it's sort of close in NY too. But I'm pretty sure Kerry and Bush are pretty sure NY is going Democratic because they've visited Ohio much more than they've visited NY. Someone told me they went to Ohio I think 33 times each.
And for those people who can vote in the United States: VOTE! IT REALLY DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
There are times when I wish I could vote.
Someone please tell me why we're still at war when the weapons of mass destruction are NOT in Iraq.

Yeah, i dont know what to think. Because i sent a letter to bush about abortion and i got a letter back from his personal assistant. So he agrees with me about abortion. But on the other hand i cant stand how he handled the 9/11 thing. And how he is still sending troops over to iraq even thought the war is supposed to be over!
So Kerry is probably who i would vote for if i was 3 years older to legally vote. Even thought he missed a vote to go against abortion. I personally dont want either...but i'd feel safer with Kerry because then at least we wouldnt be in war...

Bush doesn't look like he can keep his promises, he sure couldn't this presidency.

That is terrible! I would never vote on someone because of their looks! I do not judge books by their covers!
Right now i am glad i dont have to vote because i would choose neither. I dont like Bush because of the way he handled the 9/11 thing and i dont like Kerry because of his views on abortion. Honestly i do not feel safe with either one of them..but if i have to choose i would choose Kerry...but i still think they both are bad choices....Oprah should run for President! LOL! Just kidding!

I was going to start a forum like this but I see one is up. YAy. I have lots to say about this. SO here it goes.
Not that either of them are good but I'd pick Kerry (though I can't vote yet. 3 years.) I can't stand Bush. I never wanted him in the first place. The other night on the news it was talking about what other countries want and just about all of them had about 50% or more of the people wanting Kerry. Doesn't that tell you something.
I keep seeing a commercial that shows Bush on May 1st, 2003 saying that the war was over. We were just going to help rebuild, then it says 867 Americans have died since then. Thats only as of September 10, 2004. It's over 1000 now. Thats only Americans.
My aunt and uncle want Bush and I told my cousin that if people like his parents get Bush in office again I'm not going to be a very happy camper.
Yea What is with everyone saying bad things about Democrats. My friend and her family are Republicans and she was making it sound like Democrats are bad. I told her that they are all the same. They all lie.
My cousins girlfriend even said that Kerry knows what it is like in war. Bush doesn't. My mom thinks that we should give Kerry a chance aith this war. We've given Bush one and we know he can't do it. I think it is time to get a new President.
Me and my mom joke around saying that if Bush is re-elected we're moving to Canada. I really don't know why anyone would want that man leading our country.
halfbloodprincess15
Sep 21 2004, 11:14 PM
LOL! I could not agree more! If i was voting(I need to wait 3 years as well) I would vote for Kerry although i dont like him that much. I dont like his views on abortion but i would feel safer with him. If Bush is re elected the draft will go around again and all of my cousins and brothers and freinds will have to go off to war, as much as i dilike both presidents i want to see what Kerry will do. Bush already proved he cant do it like you said. So although i really dont like either of them all that much i would feel safer with Kerry!

I agree. Why do people want him back. I don't even know why people wanted him in the first place actually. I f you couldn't tell I'm democratic. lol Even though I can't vote yet. My friends family are rebulicans and I hate that. It will be her family to get Bush back in office. If he is re-elected (hopefully not) people are going to get earfuls from me. Especially the people I know who votes for him. My aunt being one. She is going to have one angry neice.

The least we can do is give Kerry a chance...if Bush is re elected we will probably end up in worse war and all of the men us women know will be off fighting! Scary huh! But possible with Bush....so if i was old enough i would definately vote for Kerry, even thought i dont like certain things about him.

How awful! I see no one here has enough sense to defend Bush. *sigh* Will have to do that myself.
If I could vote- which I can't, being barely a citizen of the US, too young, and not even living there (thank G-d- no insult intended on you guys)- I would vote for Bush. I must admit that though I'm a rightist in Israeli politics, I always assumed I was liberal in others. Imagine my shock, when I found out that I'm not!
Actually, I'm not really for Bush- I'm against Kerry. First of all- he has some Jewish background. that's an instant "uh-oh". Israel, at least, doesn't need an American president trying to prove his not biased towards them.
Secondly, wise king Solomon had a great wise saying. You know the one about how ther'es a time for everything? "There is a time for war and a time for peace"-
What more can I say? It's true. America has hesitated before to enter wars- and look at the consequences- millions of people murdered before America dined to agree to help in WWII. Pearl Harbor in a way, was, sadly, one of the best things that happened in the war- it forced America to take action.
I also won't mind if someone explained to me why everyone's so hot and bothered about Iraq, and no one cares a bit about Afghanistan.
One more thing against Kerry- after Clinton I don't think I'd trust any republican.
HBP15- about the not judging a president by his looks? *smirks*
Right... America won't take a president whose unmarried, bald or overwheight. Some famous professor commented that Wilson (I think it was him) would never have been president if he'd been in this era. Look at your presidents- You've even had a movie star for heaven sakes (not counting that unspellable Calorfornian governer). No women presidents either. Hmmm...
Nah- America isn't at all affected by the media and looks- couldn't be. Ragean once blamed losing elections on his make up person.
Gee, America is in such a bad mess, never noticed it till now... *smirks* Well, we're not any better. *wipes off smirk, sadly*
Good Luck!

Debate what you like - policies, strategies, anything....but not personal backgrounds. This isn't a mud-slinging campaign. Leave that to the guys who get paid for it....

| who cares if Kerry has a jewish background (i really dont care because i know loads of jewish poeple) |
Don't get me wrong- I have nothing against Kerry for his Jewish background. I'm Jewish myself! I have something against how Kerry is going to have to act towards Israel. Israel, unfortunately, depends on America. Since Kerry has some Jewish claims to him, he'll have to prove that he won't favor Israel. Instantly, he'll become, unconciously, anti-Israel (i.e. pro-arab, pro-terrorism). Not good for us.
Bush, I'll give him this- he knew how to quit sticking his nose into other countries perfectly functioning business. He didn't try for phony peace agreements, like sombody else. I hold those sombody elses responsible for the murder of hundreds of people, the million of injured. Do you know how many kids, under 20, have been murdered during the Oslo war? I'll give you a hint- it's the majority.
It boils down to this- I don't trust Kerry.

Me and my friend always argue about who should win. She wants Bush. ugh. Today I had to restain myself from arguing with her. It drives me nuts. No one could change my mind on who I want either. Kerry wants to help the middle class. Bush wants to help the rich folk. Okay there are more middle class and I'm one of them. I don't want a President who won't even help me. I don't think most people look at that. My aunt wants Bush and she's middle class. The only reason she wants him is because of gun control. She doesn't want ot have to register her guns. I hate guns. I wish she'd have to register them. The other day my uncle pulled a gun out because of a squirrel. Now that scares me. If he could shoot a squirrle anyone could shoot a person.

I just watched an hour and a half of that debate between them. I think they are both very good debators and they both brought up alot of very brilliant points that defanitely have me thinking seriously about this all. I have many opinions and i agree with some of the things Kerry is saying and some of the things Bush is saying....but i still believe that Bush did not handle the sept. 11 thing well at all and that Kerry is right in saying we need to stay focussed on our goal...i am very glad to have watched this debate because it cleared a good deal of things up for me...yet it also gave me a whole bunch of new thought....did any of you see that debate by any chance? I watched enough to take part in my World Studies class (although I was only there for the last 5 or so minutes- I had to help with the Special Olympics) Anyways, Fresh Prince came on then! Okay---I get distracted easily.
Anyways, the part I saw was basically them saying pretty much the same thing over and over again about the war (which isn't a war right now is it? We won the war now its reconstruction and conflict, right?) and foriegn policy. Bush bragging about how we have Poland on our side and Kerry bragging about his plan for the war if he gets elected.
Anyways, even thought the war is an importent topic I wish they'd had said something that really concerned me. So, that's my ramble about it so far.

Yeah, i agree. They did stay on the subject of war way to much. There were times where i wanted to change the channel. But i really wanted to hear what they both had to say and i wanted to see if i might change my mind on who i support...but after watching this debate i have to say that my support of Kerry has only grown. To me Bush seemed to scowl to much...it was like he was angry...he should have remained calm like Kerry so he could voice his opnions better. To me Kerry won the debate. He did very well.

Yeah, I thought Kerry did very well (from what I saw) more stated his points and his hopes. I my opinion Bush spent to much time correcting himself and Kerry on every remark, espically about how many people we have actually in Iraq fighting with us.
I also thought that (I didn't come up with this, my Mom pointed it out but I agree) Bush kept talking about "after we prayed" and all of this stuff but America was founded with the idea of freedom of religon and so he really shouldn't be doing all of this "I prayed" stuff because it kinda imposes others with him and his religion. It would have been better if he had said "after we talked to each other" or "after we reflected" or even "after we hoped" (I'm a big believer in hope)
I thought Kerry was more organized and focused on getting his point across while Bush spent to much time correcting everyone.

I don't think its really the American way, to put God (which represents a certain religon, not all religon) in items that represents what America is, we aren't a God believing country, we are a country that believes in freedom and equlity... we are hypocrites, in my opinion.
If I could vote I guess I would vote for Kerry because I don't really like how Bush handles things. I also don't like how everyone is making such a big deal out of Kerry changing his mind about stuff (info. changes meaning opinions will change, that is what creates progress, change) and Bush not going to those National Guard meets during th Vietnam War (well, it actually was never a war it was technicaly a conflict...) It just all seems so childish and pointless, are we really going to decide the fate of this countries leadership on those 2 things? I mean come on people...

Anyway, I already said that I would rather vote for Kerry, instead of Bush.
Tell me, what are the statistics right now? Is Bush more likely to win?
I'm guessing yes. It's not because most of America actually likes Bush, but probably because we're not willing to change....let me clarify that I don't mean people are willing to have more Americans die each year. I'm saying that some people might think that Kerry might do a WORSE job. Probably if Bush has power for four more years, he just might do a better job. Let's hope so if he does win. Or, let's hope Kerry does a better job than Bush.

Solembum, keep in mind that Michael Moore could have shown footage just to support his argument that Bush is horrible. The documentary is biased and leaning towards the director's views.
Kreacher, I hope then, that you do know what Nader's beliefs are on the issues. The main ones being the economy and terrorism. It's not just a matter of "I don't like these two people, so the third one's the charm!" and randomly pick a person. I'm not saying you're doing that, but just be aware of how he would deal with terrorism and our economy.
Jeff, originally, Bush barged into Iraq and declared war on it to search for the "Weapons of Mass Destruction". Where are these "weapons" that I've been hearing all about? We found Hussein and well, there aren't any. Regardless of whether Saddam had the capability or not to make these weapons, we have changed our reasons. We're just in Iraq to help support them because clearly, Iraq had no participation in the 9/11 attacks. But Bush made the mistake of taking care of nations like Iraq when our nation's deficit is increasing and our economy is not exactly the best.
Furthermore, Bush wants to push an amendment through Congress, hoping they will approve of the prohibitng of gay marriages. He is using his religious views so that people of the same gender cannot go through a marriage. What is wrong with having homosexuals marry? Does it really pain him that much?
First Bush tells America "the weapons of mass destruction are in Iraq". Then he tells us, "we've almost got Osama bin Laden". None of these things have happened. Cheney and Bush attack Kerry's Vietnam badges of honor. Can America have a President that cannot keep his promise and instead, throws angry remarks? In addition, how can we get other countries to trust us again? Bush already stated France (and Germany?) were our enemies because they would not fight the war on terror with us. Many citizens of the countries that are "supporting" the U.S. in the war, cannot stand Bush. It seems as if the whole world is angry at the United States and Bush seems incapable of setting things right.
