So what's a plot bunny?

A plot bunny is, and I quote - "PLOT BUNNY (Also sometimes PLOT DEMON, SNIPPET or OUTLINE.) Fanfic plots or ideas. Fanfic writers swap, adopt or exchange plot bunnies. Inspired by a quote from John Steinbeck: "Ideas are like rabbits. You get a couple and learn how to handle them, and pretty soon you have a dozen." "

Or, as the Fanworks.org site says, "(1) A story idea that arises at a bad time. (2) A story idea that spawns many story ideas. (3) A story idea that the author has no intent of writing. (4) A story idea that hops into an author's mind and won't leave until the story is written."

So, this thread is for all your plot bunnies. Stories that you'd like to see written but you've never seen, stories that you think could be handled better, stories that you think would be good crossovers, things like that.

There's no formal layout for posting plot bunnies, but you should make an effort to be as precise as possible.

Please don't post things like 'Ooh, I want to see a fic where Ron and Hermione get married', because that is never really going to inspire anyone. If you have a good idea and a broad outline for the type of things you'd like to see happening in a story, then post away!!

You're free to post your stories here, to the main site, or anywhere else, just as long as you do give credit to the person who posted the plot bunny - it's only fair as you didn't come up with the idea yourselves.

It's not a competition, so please don't feel pressurised. It's just an idea for a bit of fun and to help budding authors out who are having a bit of trouble getting started.

Hey heres a Plot Bunny but I'd like to say this before I give it to you. For some reason I have to believe there is good in everyone and so one day when I was reading a school book (hehe the book was really boring) a idea poped into my head. Perhaps very deep down (most of you will probably disagree with this) Voldermort/Tom Riddle has a good part of him that had always wished to be loved but when he never got it he turned bad.

So here it is: A girl meets Voldermort/Tom something in him stops him from actully killing her and he falls for her slowly. He walks her to safety and sometime later he finds out who she is and sends some Death Eaters after her and Harry, Hermione, and Ron help save her. then somethime later Voldermort meets her and he becomes changed around her.

So what do you people think? I would love to write it but I just don't have time... if anyone wants to take feel free. If you do take it please PM me so i can read!

Us SPELL members, seem to have come up with another fanfic idea<Plot Bunny?>. We think it a good idea to create one, that tells of all the jobs Remus Lupin may have done before his year that he tought at Hogwarts. Where did he do the jobs, and what were they, and who were they for? What did it involve doing? How did he cope with the jobs and his Werewolf Syndrome at the same time? All these are questions the author may answer while writing this fanfic. I really hope that someone becomes a taker for this Fanfic idea. Feedback Please!!

Biggest Quidditch match of the year- Gryffindor vs Slytherin with Gryffindor down by 120 points, Harry and Malfoy racing for the snitch. It's an intense race for the snitch lol, Harry finally grabs it.. BUT IT'S A PORTKEY!! AHHH!! He is teleported into WHEREVER YOU FEEL LIKE and is surrounded by Voldemort and the Death Eaters, without his wand and all alone.....

Good? I would like to see something like that, for the end of a story or something. That would be cool, PM me!

I have this really annoying plot bunny that won't leave me alone. It is a crossover of "The Nightmare Before Christmas" and Harry Potter. Preferably with Harry as Jack. I just don't have the time to write it.

I've been wanting to do this myself..but although i got every kind of information i needed to write it, i just can't. But the idea is stuck in my mind and i'd love to see it so PM me if you want to do it!

The idea is to write a fanfic about a dementor..as in the life of a dementor in askaban and then when they escaped etc. And so it will cover all the thoughts of a dementor...and i don't think anyones done that. So i thought it would be good. It would probably be better if some of it was in first person..but thats up to the person that writes it.

Another idea..which i just came up with now, is that Dudley gets married to a witch! Wouldn't his parents just freak out? Or even better, he has a big fight with his parents and he gets so angry that he does it just to make them get aggravated, without thinking twice, and then actually decides that the wizardring world is good..

And i think this is a good idea..well its not that bad.. In this idea, Voldemort and Harry are at their last battle. And then Voldemort suddenly sees everyone fighting for Harry..all the people that love him, and he realises his mistake, and Harry's power, and Harry doesn't forget everything Voldemorts done and points his wand..but..
ok i'm basically saying the whole story..so i'll leave you to do the rest!

Lastly, i was wondering if all VTM members, could write up one fanfic all together. Like, it's about Harry, and everyone can post a chapter...it would be great fun!

Hmm. i've had this fanfic idea for a while, but since i can't write a story unless i'm forced to, i'll never get it out:
Harry was never chosen by voldemort, neville was. Harry lives w/ sirius (cause he was never convicted for murder, since wormtail wasn't the neville parents secret keeper) and is great at charms, (like his dad), quidditch, (of course , like his dad!), and Harry sees and knows alot more of the order, w/o his usual meany attitude. But, ha! yes theres a but , But Harry helps neville w/ defeating Voldemort in the 1st year, which makes Harry realize that he might be the actual 1 of the prophecy, which changes his life as he knos it.....

well, there it is , but if ur gonna use this idea, or any part of it, plz! PM me...

My plot bunny: Set in the times of Lily and James, Remus (or your favorite marauder) has a younger sibling. Girl or boy, doesn't matter. Anyway... While the boys are learning how to become animagus (sp?) the sibling also learns. This is basicly where I got to.

i tried to write one, but i have writers block really bad at the moment. Its based around Draco ( everything i write pretty much is)
so heres my outline;

It starts mid-way through the sixth year. Draco has been ordered by voldy to kill dumbledore, and is working to restore the vanishing cabinet. ( this is where all ties to the book end). He is searching in the library for a book on vanishing spells, when someone reaches for it from the other side of the shelf, and they touch hands. Its ginny. They both run off and we see individual thoughts - Ginny saying she cant believe she just touched Draco, but he is good looking ... BUT hes horrible! so she puts him out of her mind. Draco thinks about ' ginny is a filthy blood traitor. I have to disinfect my hand. So why were there sparks? she is very good looking... zabini fancies her, and he's hard to please.' drifts off to sleep.
Basically, Ginny and Draco have several run ins and end up together, until Draco is forced by voldemort to officially become a death eater. Ginny tells harry, ron and hermione, and together they save him. they all live happily ever after, the end.

please, please om me if you use this as now iv started writing, i really want to work with this storyline i just get writers block after the first scene.

This story supports my belief that Regulus is RAB.
Regulus A... Black is in his 6th/7th (depends how long you want it to be) year at Hogwarts. Over the Christmas holidays, he recieves an owl requesting he joins the Death Eaters. He accepts. He comes back to school telling all his friends. In the Summer, he gets branded.
Later on in the story, Regulus is told to kill a muggle. He kills him, after a great deal of thought. He expects praise, because he didn't realise killing was all Voldemort was interested in doing, but doesn't recieve it.
He notices something about Voldemort, leading him to suspect horcruxes. He does some research and somehow finds out where the locket is. He tries to resign...well you know what happens next.

I have another plot bunny! (I seem to get a lot of those...) Well, actually I have some plot bunnies, yes, more than one. Here they are.

The first one (and my favorite) is one that has really been bugging me. It is during the Marauders' Era (my favorite era to write/read in). Voldemort has been in power since around the Marauders' 1st year, and Voldemort is now at the height of his power. James has a sibling (wether it is a twin or a boy/girl doesn't matter). Over the summer, he/she is murdered by a Death Eater, that Death Eater being Lucius. Though if the reader knows this at the time is up to you. James witnesses at least part of it and is devastated. While he is in shock and terrible grief at what has just happened, Voldemort makes his move. He does a spell or something that enables him to be in James's head, as in he is able to tell what James is doing, he can talk to James, use magic on James, and James can talk back to him. Voldemort tries to kill James in a way that wont look like it is murder, so he tries to convince James to do it himself. It doesn't work. Voldemort then offers James three choices; choice #1- kill his family and friends; choice #2- Voldemort will tell James's secret (and it is very, very, very, very dark) and James would then be sent to Azkaban; or choice #3- James becomes a Death Eater. Whatever choice James makes is up to you. Charlus (James's father) is an Auror, but he also has a dark secret (is he s Death Eater? was he a Death Eater?). Dorea (James's mom) is murdered, but when and by whom is up to you. It cam be as long as you like, but I would prefer it is it would go until October 31, 1981.

The second plot bunny is like the first one, but different. Remus is depressed, Sirius has family issues, James is James, and Peter, is, well, pathetic, for loss os a different word. So, it is set in their 7th year. James and Lily are Heads and Remus is a Prefect. Lucius is a Death Eater. Voldemort is at the height of his power, and it is very dark times. Families are being torn apart, either by death or by taking sides. Black letters are a common occurance at Hogwarts. Remus is struggling with his own personel demons, and Voldemort has developed an intrest in James Potter, sonething that can prove to be deadly. James and Lily have to end up getting together at some point, but when is up to you.

The next one is, yet again, in the Marauders' Era. I haven't seen one like this before. You would chronicle the lives of the Marauders, excluding Peter ( I absolutely detest him). It is not so much what goes on during school, but rather more of what goes on that nobody sees. What happenes behind closed doors. Their thoughts, lives before Hogwarts, lives during the summer, etc.

Now, this one is very similar to the one that I just listed, but it only focuses on Sirius Black. He is a warrior, a rebel, a lover, and a king. This is Sirius and his story, the true story. The story of what happened behind closed doors, what he his from the rest of the world, what really happened at home and in his life. How he is a warrior, a rebel, a lover, and a king is up to you.

In algebra, this just popped into my head, fully written, I can't figure out how to use it, though. It is a prophesy.
Two shall come together; two princes,
Together they will change history,
For good or for bad, either way it may go.
Up to them is the choice
Of wether dark or light it will be.
Power is abundant in grey and hazel;
The unexpected will become expected
In dog and stag.
With raven atop their heads in
What way we will see,
Wether dark or light it shall be.

This is a quote that I heard somewere that wont leave me alone. The story would be (you guessed it) in the Marauders' Era. The fanfic would be revolving around this theme/idea/saying/quote; "Revenge calms the pain of betrayal." I think that that would make a great story. If you can't write it in the Marauders' Era, than Harry's generation would work. I would just love to see and read a story like this.

Lastly (for a time, anyway), is a crossover. It is a crossover between Twilight/New Moon and HP. I absolutely love Twilight/New Moon and HP, so I would be in heaven if someone were to combine the two. That would be wicked. You don't have to follow the plat/story line or either of those books, you just have to use characters and settings from both od the books.

I'm dark like this, so my ideas tend to be geared towards the side we don't see as much as we do the others; the Death Eathers. A plot bunny for me (I really just love saying that word too), that I haven't used yet would be...

Dumbledore's past is very unknown to us. We don't know much about him, like where he learned to speak with the Mermaids, and all thsoe amazing things he can do. It would be interesting to explore his past, create those years be spent between leaving Hogwarts, and returning as a Professor. He's young, so he's not the brightest, as teenage boys seem to all be that way, and there's always the possible run-in with not only the law, but with Dark and Dangerous things (capitalized, naturally). So, analyze/ look into his past. You can make things up, there's really not much to go on, which always makes it more fun. And then you can see how he developed as a person, and gained knowlege, and everything fun like that!

So, eat my bunny you hungry eagles, I know you want to!

Alrighty, I'm going to give up all my plot ideas...because I'm never going to do them. So, here they are. Wait, some of them have to do with Deathly Hallows...so I think I'll leave those out until I get the "okay" from the Mods.

I know that I definitely want to learn more about Regulus Black. We did learn more about the youngest Black brother...and I think it would be appropriate to see a FanFiction on him...and what became of him. Er... it'll be a definite Deathly Hallows spoiler story.

Also, for those of you who have read the epilogue...a certain boy and a certain girl can get together in a next generation story. Possibly a certain Slytherin and a certain Gryffindor. Or a certain Teddy and that special someone he's got...Your choice.

That's all I'm going to put down for now. Maybe I'll put down more later.

By the time she goes to Hogwarts she's going out with him(although a lot happens inbetween the time she moves to Privet Drive and when she goes to Hogwarts). Then she finds out she's been made Head Girl. We all know that the Head Girl and Boy have to share a dorm. The Head Boy ends up being none other than Draco Malfoy. The girl (Jayla) ends up liking him but she's torn between Harry and Draco. The reason im tell you all of this is because i can't think of a name for the story!! Help!! Please PM me with your ideas!! How: The thing I'm looking for most is to really give Bellatrix some emotions you know? Not the same old boring "I'm evil rawr" kind of fic. Get in there deep. In this fic did you make her capable of love? Why did she go crazy etc.

Here's one! (I think) I don't understand plot bunnies really well but from every post I've read it seems like something farfetched or unlikely or crazy or... you get my point.

The final battle- Voldy is brandishing his wand furiously at Harry. The 'Curse' hits Harry and he hits the ground, dead. When he is at his 'party' Dumbledore comes up and smacks him in the face. "YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO DIE! I HAD 123,456,789 GALLEONS BETTED ON YOU! GRRRRR!" Harry is speechless.

That wasn't good at all. o well.

Since I am incapable of writing anything slightly happy, with a happy ending, or even with the slightest bit of humor, don't expect the random bunnies that are popping out of my head to be any different. In fact, they're like my children, except that I'm giving them away to abusive strangers because I don't like them as much as my other children, who are prettier and will grow taller than five foot three.

So the first is about a character, I'm not too picky which one it is, so long as this can apply. So it can be in the past with the other adults, or in the future with our current children that I wouldn't have abandoned if they'd been mine, but they're not. Continuing the analogy... Now we can either go the fall into darkness route, where this said character does what Dumbledore did, and experimented in dark magic, only then they're stuck. This would work best with a naturally good character, so we can see their dark side. Now, they all figuratively have friends, not that they actually do, just they think they do. And they don't matter in the slightest, because it's done from a first person point of view to justify why they do this, to show how they react to the world. So, for example, if their said friends try to save them, we won't see their reason, only how the character reacts. They could see this as an attempt to overthrow them, that their friends are after their power. And you have to justify this too... They can't suddenly hate their friends, they have to loose faith in everything they ever held dear. So, to sum it all up. A good to evil story, first person. Cause then you have to pull them out, maybe. That would show the power of evil, and how you think that is significant. Like, is good stronger than evil, or are we equally susceptible to becomes either?

The next, and I have no idea about how many of these are going to come before I find one that I like, but... As you can see, I don't have many children that I actually like. I give them away frequently. I've kept a few, but not many. And only because they have promise that might turn out to be nothing. I really need to stop this analogy. So, this one is also dark and depressing like everything I write, and I'm thinking of which character this would work best with, but failing with names. Pick two characters in a relationship, really. Now, give one a horrifying past, like pick Lucius and Narcissa. I've already written about this, so don't steal it too much. I decided that they had a child before Draco who died. They never talk about it, but it's always in the back of their minds, haunting them. Now, lets say that the death of the child was one of them's fault. Lucius would be a prime example, cause then we can relate it to Smallville where Lex kills his baby brother to make him stop crying, and his father knows the truth, but never tells his wife. It still haunts him; he forgot it over time, but when it comes back... Good episodes. Anyways, if we do that, then there's a guilt going on that, like everything in HP, is bound to come out sooner or later. But, if it's a secret he's willing to kill for... So, pretty much, he has a deep dark secret and you write it so show what's going on in his head as he tries to quite it all up, knowing fully well that he should tell her the truth. It's more of one in the head, but I like doing that. He gets to track people down and murder them, all while justifying something that should be out in the open. Kinda fun! In a creepy way...

Those are it for know, as this post is really long, but hope those help. They're slightly strange, yes, but it's me. What else would you expect? Here's some help to those who look like they want slash need it.

For fjkrs, if you were wondering, I have an entire fic based on Bella called the Years of the Hourglass, but I'm always looking for suggestions, so if you want to help me, that'd be great! I'm kinda stuck in one location for now, which is cool cause I have so many things I want to do with it, but if something comes to mind, let me know!

For nevillesgirl, my like favorite person of the day, seriously, here are some characters I've tried to write on. Anyone can steal these, I just noticed you were looking for some characters we don't look at much, and I love doing that so, here:
Narcissa (she's not really a Death Eater, but imagine her perspective with both her husband and child as Death Eaters? She's the second most important woman in the Dark Lord's circle, yet she doesn't seem to have power at all...)
Regulus (he's mentioned, but never quite explained. Try to explain why he had the locket and all that, tell it from a different point of view of something... That's be fun, cause there's so much freedom! That's why I like these characters, you can do just about anything with them)
McGonagall (beside the fact that Maggie Smith should be worshiped on the same level as Tom Stoppard, we don't know a thing about her. Warning, this should probably be done if someone with a bunch of talent does it, cause if it gets botched, that would kinda ruin her character. Not to be mean, but I would hate to read a fic about one of the most mysterious characters, only to have my perception of her changed beyond belief. Or even, if that's too risky, go with her point of view. She's quiet, keeps her thoughts to herself frequently, but when she does speak her mind, it's well done. What was she thinking about when the three weren't at Hogwarts, when Dumbledore died, or when Snape took over? Like, the seventh book through her perspective would be cool, the opposite end of the action; explain what happened through her pensive eyes... I really love her, by the way)
Nagini (this would also take skill, since she can't really reply much, but she sees everything, and I have a feeling she knows more than the Dark Lord thinks she does. He trusts her, and believes her more than he does the other humans around him, yet I bet she's more cunning than we know. She could be plotting behind him, and he'd never know. I think there are secrets to her character that could be investigated, and you can always look at events from her point of view, just to show an alternative reaction. It'd be hard, and if you like dialog, slightly difficult, but sounds awesome to me)

I just thought of one. We don't really know all that much about Nearly Headless Nick. Why would someone want to chop his head off? Why didn't they succeed? Maybe somebody could do a fanfic on this. I think it would be really fun!

I've re-read DH this summer, so I came up with this idea. I don't know if someone has already used this, but since I won't write it anytime soon...
How about an after-Harry-Potter Master of Death? What if one of Harry's relatives got the wand accidentally, then found the stone, and inherited the cloak as well? The fanfic would revolve around all these coincidences that lead to this person being the Master of Death. I have written the ending but that's it.
Anyway, I wanted to share this idea, just in case someone wants to use it!

Sorry, sorry, it won't be any plot-bunnie, but can't help giving a little information: padfootx3, if you're interested in Nick's decapitation, JK's wrote a kind of song that she posted in her official website. I think it's in the brush-portkey, the random and curious things about characters that we didn't know. It's pretty good. It'd be great that somebody made a story about it, thought. Or about any of the other ghosts, except the Grey Lady, of course.

*Blows some dust off the thread and wipes cobwebs away* Hello, I've got a great idea for anybody whose interested. I just don't seem to be able to have the mind to do it, even though I'd love to. My idea is that you know how Voldemort could of chose Neville to kill rather than Harry, right? Well, why doesn't someone write a story where Neville is "the Chosen One"? I mean, it has been in my head ever since I finished the series, so I'd love to see someone use it. If anyone wants to know more about what I mean, just say so.

Actually I was going to do some thing like that...Huh. But I think it's different from what you imply...sorta?

I'm just pulling these bunnies out of a hat right now... let's see... Ok, here are a few. I don't know if anyone's done these, but PM me if any of them sound interesting to someone:

~Do we know much about Hermione's parents? It might not be very interesting because they're muggles, but it also could be. Did they have any magical ancestors? How did they react to Hermione becoming a wizard? This has been puzzling me for I don't know how long... It could be fun, if you think about it!!

~You could do a FanFiction about the magical creatures (like I said, pulling the bunnies out of a hat here). Maybe from their point of view? It would be kind of different (if no one's done it before) and maybe some...romance... could be added into the mix?? Hmmm....


Ok, there's only two. But those aren't that bad, right? Once again, PM me if you'd like these ideas!! And I would be happy to help if you needed an ifrs to start u off!

Calling all Draco authors!

I wandered into the Draco thread interested in a story about a character that I don't read much about and found that most of the plots centered around shipping his character with Hermione Granger.

Could someone write a story about how he met his wife? Could someone write a story about the struggle he had to regain the family name and some of the honor he lost in the end? Oooh, what about a one-shot diving into his brain as he stared down Dumbledore in the Astronomy Tower?

What about the H/G kiss from Ginny's POV? Or... Other moments in the books, one-shots, described from another POV. But, including a lot of their thoughts, and stuff. I dunno, just ideas. (: If anyone does this, then PM me; I love reading them!
