Hi everyone. My name is Sam. I've been here for a while acctually, I just never really got around to joining. I joined about two months ago, but I've been coming here for about a year. I'm 15, and I'm a sophomore in high school, I'm a youngin. =] Most people in my grade are older, much older. *sigh* O well.
I've lived somewhat of an interesting life acctually. I was born in California, but when I was very young (3-4 ish) i moved to Okinawa Japan, and I lived there for 6 years. I moved back to California when I was 10, and about a year and a half ago, I moved to Washington.
I've traveled to 4 places in China. Hong Kong, X'ian (Shi-an), Shanghai, and Beijing.
I have also been to Brisbane, Australia. I have a lot of the Asian culture in me, even though I am the farthest thing from Asian imaginable. =]
Well I'm not sure what else to say, so I will leave it here. I suppose if anyone wants to know more, they can ask me.

well, Ive been here for a few months, but am really busy with schoolwork. I am 16 and live in Washington. I was first introduced to HP by my friends at school and had to beg my parents to let me read them. I read all of them (1-6) in two days during this time of year last year! I love them soo much that I was looking for something on line and stumbled across this web-site. I am so glad I did! As for my interests, I love sports, especially soccer and enjoy hanging out with my friends and going to movies. I love to read Science Fiction books among them are the Eragon and Eldest books. I have no comment on that movie only that it was out of focus from the book. My favorite book of HP is the third one. Um.. that's all I have to say for now!

Really? That is so cool! I am quite similar, but different countries. I lived in Australia (my home country) until I was two to three years old, and then I moved to Dubai, Saudi Arabia, until I was five to six years old. I then went to live in Prague, Czech Repbulic for a year, until I was six to seven years old, then I came back to Australia and I am still there now! I have to say, living in different countries really is an experience.

My name's Sara and I was born in El Salvador but moved to Toronto when I was about 2 1/2 and I've been here ever since! I haven't even left the province lol. I joined this website in early December, but didn't notice tihs thread until today. eep. Every year for my birthday I ask for the same things:

- fantasy books
- Harry Potter memorabilia (but I never get anything, I end up buying it all myself)
- Sailor Moon stuff -> my other addiction

If Hogwarts was a real school I would have skipped the Ontario government "Ministry Approved" curriculum for something more fun... I really want to blow things up in Charms.

I have a little boy that just turned seven months yesterday, who I'm training to become the youngest Potter Whiz-Kid. Just last night I told my fiance, Scott, that our engagement will be cancelled unless he reads all the Harry Potter books (including Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and Quidditch Through the Ages), so he readily agreed to do it. He knows I was dead serious. What he doesn't know is that I will write a test for him to test just how much attention he paid to the books. Deathly Hallows FINAL EXAM will have to wait until I've read it eight times though lol.

I love watching Passions.

I say the most random things at the most inconvenient times.

I STILL believe in Santa, even though I'm turning 21 this November (such a long wait until I get presents).

Fairies and elves are cool. I heart Dobby and Kreacher.

ok...some of you asked what an eisteddfod is. I have already explained somewhere but i'll explain again. The eisteddfod is a welsh festival. You have singers,dancers, poets actors and stuff like that. Its for all ages I think but it's mainly youths that go. there are different types of eisteddfods but the international one is held in llangollen (a place in north wales) every year. I think that just about sums it up.

Another thing ok i might be interesting some times but hardly ever...I'm just really random!!

This reply is LONG overdue, but here it is lol.

For starters, yes, Passions is that show with Tabitha and Endora, but no Timmy. He died lol. Actually I didn't start watching that show until last April when I went on maternity leave lol. According to my sister the plotlines are essentially the same as they always were. Theresa's engaged to a man named Jared, and Fancy got assaulted twice - she's now in love with Luis who is madly in love with her back! Sheridan's married to a man named Chris, Marty died as did Beth and Alistair (so they want us to believe, I heart Alistair), but she's experiencing a nervous break down because she wants Luis back. That's the short of it...

About the tests, I have already told Scott what is expected of him. I also described in excruciating details that he has to get either an Oustanding or an Exceeds Expectations for me to be convinced that he's trying hard to become assimilated into my HP environment. For that, I would LOVE it if some of you help me think of really hard questions to include. I'm doing all of the standard exam type questions - multiple choice, true and false, essay questions, regular answers, mix and match, etc. The "hardest question" I wrote so far asks him to list in order what obstacles the Trio have to pass and what they do to overcome the obstacles in order to get to the Philospher's Stone - I'm still on the first book. However if any of you are up for it, then I would love to hear your suggestions, either on this thread or in a PM or whatever else lol.

How do you pronounce "eisteddfods"? I would really appreciate it if you spell it out phoenetically because I'm trying to get my tongue around it and I end up getting tongue tied. I even tried to look up Welsh pronounciations in some of my King Arthur books, but I failed repeatedly. I don't want to sound ignorant, seeing as Toronto is a major multicultural city, but we don't exactly have many (if any??) cultural festivals that don't fall into the Hispanic, Greek, Italian, Canadian (Canada Day), Portuguese and Chinese already.

There's an even harder one like 'What animal does Bellatrix kill in Chapter Two of the Half-Blood Prince?' - it's a fox, by the way, . Little small details like that... things that you wouldn't really pay attention to unless you were a Harry Potter fanatic, like us peeps! XD

Haha, Americans DEFINITELY have accents; oh my God, I can't believe you don't realise it! The Canadian accent is somewhat similar, but softer, and easier on the ears to us 'foreigners', . Yeah, umm, I think you'll find that people in western New South Wales (the state I live in) speak with an accent. You will also find that everyone (in Australia) except northern, eastern, some of southern, and inner Sydney has an Australian accent. Haha, . I'm in the east, so I'm fairly well-spoken; more so than my friends because I have lived away from Australia for four years, where they speak in English accents. So yeah, you shouldn't assume that all Australians have accents, because I don't, .

I think it could have something to do with accents on the way you pronounce it. I said it the welsh way of pronouncing it. There is an english way too.

Americans and caniadians have accents well ive noticed them anyway.

Yes it is possible it the name of a train station i think. Whats funnier is it's only one word( no hyphons at all). I can say it!! It isnt that hard to pronounce if you know the welsh alphabet. It's rather easy if your welsh too although no one i know can say it.

haha the accent is alrite! people think we talk really fast and if am ever talkin to some one thats not from here.. moslty they dont even no what am sayin or talkin about because they dont understand our slang

you think that you talk fast trust me I probably talk faster. You probs would understand our slang but anyone that isn't from the U.K or Ireland wouldn't. Ok give me a sentence i wanna try and figure out what you mean.
South Wales people talk really slow but I'm from north and we talk really fast!!

we say words in sentance that ppl wouldnt normally say eg..yes instead of hello

my accent is a mix between cork and dublin which are both differant and my mums from england so theres a bit of that in there too!!
