As the topic says, what book/comic/tv show would you like to see in a movie?
I would like to see Dragonlance-book series in film. Or maybe not the whole series,as it is enormous, but the main books.
I'd like to see Dan Brown's Angels and Demons. I think it would work better that Da Vinci code, as there isn't so much explainic, but more acton.
For tv, it would be intteresting to see what they could make of Lost. And it should deffinetly be made by J. Abrahams and other people that are behind Lost, . I think it would be either very good or very bad

Ooooh new thread. Sweet.
I'd really like to see the City of Ember (book) put into a movie. If it's well done, I'm sure it'd be a hit. The book is absolutely amazing and I already have a bunch of ideas about how it would be done.
I also want to see Eragon put into movie form, but it's already being done

I want to see a Nick Fury (comic) movie. I saw a comercial for Eragon but I'm not sure if it's going to be good. I also want to see more Series of Unfortunet Events movies. The Hobbit would be a cool movie. they were supposed to do one but the director of LotR went off and did King Kong.
I heard Artemis Fowl was supposed to be a movie but I haven't been able to find out much except Disney and Miramax got into an arguement...
The King Arthur books by Gerald Morris would be cool.

I would like to see "The hobbit" as a movie, because the Lord of the ring triology was such great. Also I thought that Peter Jackson said one time that he would make a film out of it, wasn't he?
And I'm hoping that one wonderful day all ladies of Sex and the city will sit together, drink a Martini and say "Hey you know, this iea we had to make a film about SatC? Let's go, do it!!" That would be so amazing!

I liked LOTR very much too, but I don't think that Hobbit would work as a movie. I admit it's been a long time since a read it, but I think it doesn't have so clear plot as in LOTR. It also doesn't have really other action, so it might become boring. And I'm not saying only action movies are good- I just think Ring fans would be dissapointed.
But a good suggestion anyway. Sorry if I sounded harsh. And if they do the film,(and I'm pretty sure they do) I agree that Peter Jackson should deffinetly be dirrector. He's deffinetly proved he can make books work.

Well, first you didn't sound harsh, everyone has his own opinion and I'm cool with it. Yes there is really just one storyline, I didn't think about that, thanks for the advice. So maybe you're right and it could get boring.
To confess I don't like to much action in a movie (the long war scenes in LOTR got on my nerves

) so The Hobbit would be perfect for me

I think Angels and Demons would make a good movie, im actually reading it at the moment and I think it would be major success, especially after Da Vinci Code.
I would have liked to see the whole series of unfortunate events as a movie, but i agree they totally ruined it by ending it after the 3rd book. Also the film didnt have the right atmosphere, it was meant to be a horror/action/fantasy not a comedy film.

I'm sure K_ Lupin Werewolf mentioned it. Vampirates it's great and i've read both of them. It's really an intresting read, i got for christmas last year and i had to read it. It's great and should be made into a movie.
Because all the characters, i could see on the big screen. Two more books are planned, i think. It sounds like a horror and i suppose it is slightly but it isn't to gorey. I hope i does come out in film.

~yeah, I saw that movie after I read the books-I'm a big fan of Eragon- BUT the movie was awful! They did a good job up until Saphira took off in flight as a young dragon and went through the clouds and came down as a older dragon. Then she spoke saying " I am Saphira" that is the point where the movie went downhill. It was like they gave up on creating it to fit with the book! ALTHOUGH, the guy who played Eragon was pretty hot

and so was Murtagh. Brom was a really good actor (the guy who was him). Otherwise, it was awaste of my money! I would watch it if they re-did it with the people who played Eragon, Brom, and Murtagh though

. Thanks for letting me vent

OK this is just a thought i have had sinse...well sinse last week...but i think they should make an action packed movie on Pokemon. I know what you're all think "how on earth are they gonna make a decnt movie about *Pokemon*?" but listen to me here. They've done Thunderbirds (that was ok), they've done ScoobyDoo (that was brill) and now they're gonna do Transformers (i'm not a transformers fan myself but the movie does look awesome), so, why not do Pokemon or Digimon or something; it would be great.
It wouldn't be one of those typical American films, which turn out to be really cheesy, but it would stay similarly true to the cartoons and at the same time look realistic. The POkemon couls be as subtle as they made the Transformers; they could always start with a Prologue or something explaining how creatures have evolved secretly and so scientists call it Pokemon or something like that, and they could have the bad guys as an organisation who have studied Pokemon and decide that the only way to retrieve rare Pokemon is by cheating (or stealing them from others).
The movie could be about a young boy with his mother (like Ash Ketchum and his mother) and the are kindly supported by a friend of the family (a famous scientist called Proffessor Samual Oak) and he studies the creatures (pokemon) as experiments. The young boy and his mother would of course own a Pokemon of their own; Oak would of course and lent them a protocall one to help out around the home (seeing as there is no husband or father around). Then it would go from there, and the boy would turn Thirteen (i say thirteen because that would be a more believeable age where someone would be able to go off on thir own. The film would most likely have to be based around the descovery of the odd creatures rather than a journey of some kind for the main character, and the character would just firstly be there to support that discovery. Then, in possible sequals, it would go on to be about the journey and the storyline. Sort of like they do with the marvel movies; the first one is always about the main character(s) finding their powers are harnessing it, whereas the sequals are about the adventures they have with their specific powers. If you look at Pokemon as if it is a Marvel story you can easily make it into a live action movie, with real people and cool CG (graphics).
I was also thinking they could do a Digimon movie in the same way; staying true o the story but at the same time staying true to reality.
I had another thought. They could include a signiture joke where the Boy is could Ash but some people refer to him as *Ashley*, and the character woudn't like that so everytime that happens he would have small bursts of funny tantrums. Here is an example:
Oak: Hello Ashley
Ash:

HEY, DONT CALL ME THAT
Oak: what???
Ash:

JUST DON'T ITS REALLY ENOY...
Mum: Oh, Ashley (

) do you want your boxers ironed with a crease done th sides or down the fron....
Ash: grrrrrr (

) I'm going to my room (stomps off)

Hey I hate the Pokemon show but monkeymushroom you're idea is a good one.
I dunno if anyone's read the Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins but that would be a cool movie. The books are about this kid named Gregor who falls into the world under New york the Underland. It's filled with weird people, rats, roaches, bats, fireflies, mice, and all sorts of stuff. All the creatures are giant. Gregor fufills five prophecies throughout the book. There's tons of fighting but it's funny too.
Vampirates would make a cool movie.

Aug 31 2007, 04:15 PM
OK. What about Digimon?
I believe that if you sum up the story, for example: if it begins with 8 children in america who mysteriously go missing. You see the chaos that takes place with mum's and dad's who worry about their kids and wonder where they are and Police hold up search parties. Then you catch up with these kids standing amidst strange surroundings; they encounter beasts, and weird creatures (Digimon) who transform (digivolve) at will. After fighting dark forces they finally get the opportunity to go back home. At the very end of the movie we see they time travel back to when and where they first got wisked away to this other world.
I think it would make a brilliant epic, live-action movie because you can make it like The Transformers movie and you can have the digivolution look really cool like the Transformers transformation into cars.
The trailers could put emphasis on the fact of the matter, that 8 kids go mysteriously missing one day, and that could be the interestng plot of the story which draws the audence to watching it.
Here is my version of a possible trailer:
Logos prop up
--- no background music, just silence
--- visions of 8 different buildings (houses which 8 different families live in)
---hear the sound of wistleing birds, quiet atmosphere
--- televisions/radios in the background stating the disappearances of children in various parts of America
--- more logos, more blackouts (the sound of drums indicating mysterious danger lurking) --- sound gets louder and more distinct as the introuduction ceases
--- in between last 3 or four blackouts, visions of forest dwellings, wild inhabitants and kid's scared/weary faces prop up
--- a distant (earthly) theme of music is heard as camera constantly switches images
--- Music picks up
--- you see fast clips of the movie; digimon transforming; battle scenes; shots of each child; shots of Champion Digimon (such as, Greymon and Garurumon, Angemon and Angewoman, Birdramon and Ikkakumon, Lillymon and Karbuterimon)
--- meanwhile, quotations appear in timing with the music: 'TWO WORLDS'; 'EIGHT KIDS'; ONE DESTINY
--- one very last distant bang of drums
--- "it's not gonna be easy saving two worlds at once! You're gonna need as much help from each other as you can get!"
Anyway, thats my idea. Hope you like it.

They will make the rest of the Dark Materials, so when Dakota Blue Richards is 17 or something like that they will finish the last film.
I was a bit disappointed by the Golden Compass at the end when i saw it last week because they had completely cut out the bit where Lyra finds her father Lord Asriel and where he finally opens the bridge between the two worlds. They didn't show that bit atall, they just stopped the film at the point where Lyra and Roger were sleeping in Lee Scorsebee's balloon; the credits came up. I was well looking foreward to seeing that end bit, especially where lord asriel mentions the genesis story about how dust was first formed. I know it was going against christianity and all and they must've left that bit, probably because the christians were moaning about it before, but they didn't have to go and cut the bridge to the stars bit aswell; that was really important, especially where roger gets killed.
I looked through the golden compass sticker book the other day in the shops and they showed pictures of the end scenes they cut out, so i suppose they do exist in the film but they chose not to show it in the cimema for some weird reason. Either that or they're gonna use it for the second film instead, but that would be weird and out of sinc with the events in the books.
It's funny coz i only just started reading the books and already i know alot about it. I suppose it's all the practice i've had with harry potter at knowing the books after i've read them. Im hoping to buy the second book so i can read it. I bought the first and third book together because i read the introduction of each of the first chapters in the bookshop and i found them more interesting than the second book's first chapter. Strange system i have there

Here you go; something about the pre-production on Confessions of Georgia Nicolson. It's started filming in 2007 but i'm unsure of when it should be released (????).
I've never read these books, though. On the other hand i'm not a particular fan of hardcore teenage books. Sure i'm a teenager myself but i was never that interested in reading realist stuff about girls who try to find boyfriends or 'my first bra' sort of stuff. It's great hearing about it but i don't think i could stand going through the teenage worries in a book when i'm living it right here and now.

Ah cheers for that!!

I know what you mean about the whole teenage issues thing ... but seriously, I don't usually like books like that, but they're so funny! I know I said above that they's be great as a film, but it said they'd be one each ... I actually don't think there's be enough in the books to make them into however many separate films.
It's a bit like the Girls In Love series by Jacqueline Wilson - they were made into a TV programme and it worked well since every episode was just 30 minutes, and if they're doing a separate film for each book, I think it'll be really short. Hmmm.
Oh well, cheers for that link!!

I was going to say all of those! I agree, the Clique Series would just be fun to watch, and I read them just as a silly form of entertainment.
Twilight is going to be a movie! I also dread when books become movies, they always kill them. The thing about it is I think I heard MTV is producing it, so it will most likely be a silly movie.
If the Uglies Series were movies, I would pee! I love them so much. It would be really interesting to see what the
pretties would look like. Oh god, it would be great. I hope they become movies.
Also, has anyone read A Great and Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels, and The Sweet Far Thing, by Libba Bray. It's a series. It set in the late 1800s, with beautiful dresses with petticoats and corsets, secret realms with magic that turns rocks to rubies, frightening magical creatures, hot Indian boys and handsome English men. I'm reading The Sweet Far Thing at the moment, and as I read, I picture it in movie form. Except, I'm scared it would be completely butchered.

Ok, someone has got to do a Digimon movie! I know you're all probably groaning at this right but , if any of you have seen the cartoons or watched the film then i have a good suggestion for a proper live-action movie with real life people and CGI.
They will definitely have to get the plot right; it cant just all be spectacle like Transformers it has to be something young kids will want to watch - like a Warner Bros. or 2oth Century Fox EPIC. Epic always works well because it's all about the story. Without a good story there would be no flavour. I think they will have to make it sound serious (the story line that is) instead of silly so people would take it seriously and go and see it, even the adults.
I've said this before but i believe the plot outline should be this: 8 kids from around the world mysteriously go missing and no one knows why. They suspect each disappearance is linked with one another somehow so they suggest that its a kidnapping. This is the part where it gets all epic and serious. (The acting would have to be brilliant in order for this to work by the way). We see the kids arrive in a place unknown to them - in a wide forest - and they get simultaneously chased by monsters (aka. Digimon). The Rookie or small Digimon won't have real voices but they will be like baby animals where their characteristics and personalities come from their expressions and physicality; but the more evolved digimon will be able to talk but i don' thik they should open their mouths, that would just be silly. They should be able to interact with each child mentally through their voices wihtout actually speaking through their mouths.
Most of the drama will come from the conflicts between the kids but alot of the action will come from the Digimon/monsters, and you will only ever hear the digimon speak to their own child and to no one else so there would be real interaction between the characters and their own digimon.
Please don't think i'm sad for suggesting Digimon.

Ooh, guess what! Apparently, Chris Columbus (director of Harry Potter 1 and 2) is going to direct quite a good film, based on the novel 'Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief'.
Anyone heard of that? I've just read the beginning of the book, because i got it free with a magazine, and i thought it seemed brilliant and quite interesting. I havn't read it all yet but i'll get back to you when i have. It's quite a small book, the one i've got...how big are they usually in the shops?
But, anyway, the idea of Chris Columbus directing this film makes me want to watch it, when it, supposedly, comes out in November 13, 2009 (if it ever does get made); he will make it like Harry Potter because that was his style. Also, the idea of a character like Hercules ('Half Boy, Half God, Half Hero') is very interesting to see on screen, indeed.
