I just saw the trailer on youtube and I must say it looks pretty impressive. I have high expectations for the movie since I really enjoyed the book.. I may be in the minority but I think Harry did well in getting rid of his long hair.. makes him a bit more serious-looking. If only Ron would get the hint and lose his mop once and for all. Still, I won't be happy until they get the razor out and shave their mops off for good laugh.gif

Well it's hard to base opinions on such a short trailer but I have to say that it looks like the next movie is going to be better than 3 or 4 were.

Maybe it is Gambon's terrible portrayal of Dumbledore or perhaps it was poor directing/editing but I really felt let down by both the third and forth movies.

I hold out hope for 5 but am a bit timid about saying "Yeah, it looks great!"

We'll see what the future holds.

I saw the trailer a bunch of times. I can't wait for the movie. It will be the greatest. I hope. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif smile.gif smile.gif

I personally think GoF was the best, it was serious and funny at the same time..however I think it could have been longer. Back on topic, I would be highly disappointed if Ootp was like PoA, because though PoA was my favorite book, I found that the movie was very dull. It wasn't funny, it was just down to point and had nothing "special".

I totally agree with what you said about GoF. It had a perfect balance of being funny and serious; lighthearted and intense. PoA was just rather dull, like you said, with not much special. I hope Ootp has a good balance

Sirius: 14 years ago Voldemort had huge numbers at his command
[he had a lot of people to tell what to do]

Dumbledore: The evidence of the dark lord's return is incontrovertible
[there are many things that show that Voldemort is back, so you can't say he isn't]

Snape: You won't last 2 seconds if he invades your mind

Harry: I'm not weak

Snape: then prove it

Harry: If Voldemort’s building up an army, then I want to fight

Hopefully this will make sense now. Look up this in an online translator and let me know if it doesn't help.

so that means that the theatrical trailer will be AWESOME!

I don't know if anyone has seen the same OotP trailer that i have. The trailer i've seen is from Leaky Cauldron website and it is the MAJOR SPOILER one and it is brilliant!!!! biggrin.gif . It looks as brilliant as the book and i think once i've seen it, it is going to be my favourite HP movie so far!!!!! biggrin.gif

WOW!! I just realised that. How awesome!

One thing that I got from the trailer - please tell me if you saw differently - was that it appears that when the students fly from Hogwarts to the MoM to save Sirius, they are on brooms and not thestrals. It's a brief scene at the end of the trailer. Perhaps it is really a scene of the advance guard, who were indeed on brooms, but i think it was the students. I hope we see at least some of the thestrals.
maia_potter
I think that the trailer was great! really exciting, it was a boom of scenes that you couldn't blink or you miss everything.

The only thing I have to say I didn't like was that they put the scene of the kiss. Because I was so sure that they will include that scene but they that they will cut it the moment before the kiss, a lot of people were expecting that scene, and now that they have included it in the trailer there is no more expectation xD. (well, maybe they inculded it on purpose so that everybody stopped making such a fuss about it xD).
kokomogod
from what ive seen...
the theatre trailer is already playing...
and the tv teasers should be out in a couple months or so....
MaGicAl ThReEXxX
Are there tv teasers? I didn't know that! tongue.gif

Well, there a usually three trailers, aren't there? So it's only a matter of time until they're released. I can't wait till they show the trailer on the TV!! biggrin.gif
SITH|Redskin
The trailer looks great. I just wish people would stop fussing about not seeing the threstals and thinking that they are going to ride to the MoM on brooms(thats the advance guard). Movie should be huge worldwide hit and even if people complain about parts of it they will still go(i hope they still leave the parts we want).

HandofGlory248
Lord i hope they aren't alike. I found PoA filming really bad actually. which sucks considering it's my favorite book.
Alfonso Cuaron is better suited to movies where schools don't have uniforms, Quidditch games, or many classes, seeing as he only had about one scene for each.
I love Peter Yates' directing style. He balances the more Grim (no pun intended) parts with the light quite well. Except for minor details, I think he did a nice job staying true to the book while adding new elemnets. GoF was, in my opinion, the best HP film yet.

I fear that most of you are not realizing how CORNY some things would look in movies.

and to you, yater, how dare you? What would look corny in movies? Especially HP ones? I personally think that they cut incredibly wonderful parts in PoA (and others) that would ahve done nothing but add to the movies overall quality. Shopping for instance in Diagon Alley (book 1). They should have included the Malfoy scene. First, it showed how we should all hate Malfoy with every fiber of our being. Two, it showed how Draco is extremely prejudice. Some things are just corny to immature readers.

Sorry if I sound too harsh, that's just me.
El Barto
Well, everyone is entitled to their opinions. But I think you may have misunderstood what the poster said about it being corny, HandofGlory248. Things such as Harry and Draco first meeting in that shop or Dobby giving Harry gillyweed wouldn't be corny, of course, but something would only satisfy a reader would be corny. Such a thing as including a fanged frisbee erupting in the Gryffindor common room. You know, out of place things that were only in the books for light humor.
hgsupporter
I can't wait to see the rest of the trailers, especially when it's before a movie starts in the cinema so it would be great! The first trailer had me wondering about some parts, I think they did a good job in making the trailer because it had me thinking after I watched it. Absolutely 100% awesome! That means the movie will be 200% better tongue.gif

The PoA Movie was terrible. They skipped through so many scenes. Why did they have to have harry stay at the leaky cauldron for One night? They could have just showed One small scene with him doing his work in the shop at diagon but no they had to race through it. Theye could have filmed dan at his coffee break and it would have done it. Goblet of fire lies about small small things too that was just irritating. Like The trio apparently arriving at the the burrow the night before the World cup and the group not knowing where they were going. The scene cutting was a massacre. Like Barty Crouch Jr. conjuring the dark mark? Neville giving harry the gillyweed? Come on. This was suppose to be the most expensive movie right? Well Im sure they could have forked out the dough for a small CGI dobby. I would have been happy even with a freakin muppet version of dobby. Just stop screwing with the films. What these directors dont understand is that there are so many fans of these books and their attitude that people wont really care is slowly disappointing fans and making it harder to really get into other reading material. I think JK Rowling should have been there to see the POA movie before anyone else and tell them what there missing and what the hell their problem was! I think Its time to let HP Films be directed by reputable directors like ron howard or rob riener maybe even tarantino. You want dark? WB needs to stop handing these great stories over to amateur directors!
xXTonksXx
i thought poa was ok but they skipped out too much

thats true! it should have showed hermione buying crookshanks too or just harry meeting ron and hermione in diagon alley and asking her about the cat...
...also it should have showed how lupin kept missing classes and how he didnt look very well every time they saw him.
i also think that when harry was facing the dementors, you should have heard his parents more. you could only really hear his mum screaming. in the ps2 game you can hear his dad shouting to lily and stuff

i dont think that Alfonso was a good director...hopefully david yates will be way better =]
lp_supastar
Even though i hate to admit it, I also though PoA was terrible compared to the book...I was all excited for the movie then cut out vital bits such as the explanation as to WHY pettigrew was a traitor! if i had not read the book, i would not have understood it at all!

GoF, PS and CoS all are at the same standard in my books - i thought they were awesome! Obviously PS and CoS were much 'younger' than GoF because they were less dark and the trio were much younger. So, i don't think they were sugar coated at all.

By the look of the trailer, OoTP looks amazing. Although it is my least favourite book (by only a little bit!!) it seems like the best movie by far. Although i know it will be a bit choppy, I am confident this will be a great movie.
Snuffles4Eva
My favorite book at the time PoA came out was PoA, so I got myself overly excited. It confused me a bit, but after watching it twice I had understood it. At first I hated it, but then it grew on me and now I absolutely love it. The OotP is probably going to be a bit choppy considering that it's a very big book. I hope they try to make it as understandable as possible, because this is my favorite book (now at this time). So I think I may need to see it mroe than once in order to fully love it. No problem for me because who wouldn't want to watch Harry Potter movies? biggrin.gif

I was the same! When I first saw PoA I absoloutley hated it, I thought it was the worst HP movie, I didn't see how it was good at all. Now I ADORE it, yes I do admit it isn't very harry potterish, but it was still really good, and I love watching it over and over again.

For me I don't think OOTP is going to be like PoA at all. Because OOTP looks so much like how I imagined, and PoA wasn't. Plus PoA was such a different directing style, you can tell. I reckon OOTP will be more like GoF than all of them, yet still very unique.

I thought GoF was excellent, but I found the acting sucked in that movie! And I don't think it was the actors' fault, it was the director's. He kept going "just act like you at school", and the thing is they're not at a normal school! Hermione was terrific in the first 3 films, then in the 4th I was so shoked! All of a sudden she just sounded so awkward, and self concious, I hope she gets better in the 5th, it makes me sad to think she won't.
blakvint8geslk
i really hope the OoTP is alot better that PoA, because, frankly, PoA was horrendous. And that disappointed me immensely because PoA was my favorite book. But, the trailers for OoTP were pretty nice, so hopefullythe movie will be great!
El Barto
While I was disappointed that a lot was left out of the third movie, I didn't think it was a horrible movie because of that...just my opinion. And I don't think that if the movie does indeed turn out to look just like Order of the Phoenix that they did that on purpose biggrin.gif
( Half-Blood-Prince)
poa was the first book i red because i new the story so far from seeing the first two films but then the poa film came out, i seen it and thought the book was much much better..i think gof is the best of the movies so far alough alot has been cut out..i just hope they stick close too the twins escape and the battle between riddle and DD in the ootp moive and ill be happy
El Barto
I agree with you, ( Half-Blood-Prince). I don't mind if they cut certain things out. They can't include everything (they should've had more background information in Prisoner of Azkaban, though!). I don't think we should complain if they don't have, say one of the education decrees or Harry doesn't call upon Snape to help rescue "Padfoot" in Umbridges office. It would be great if those and many other things are in the movies but I wouldn't be sad or angry if they weren't. What do you guys think?
RyIverson3
But when oh when will there be a long..2 and a half minute lots of craziness going on trailer that is what I am dying for. i want to see a big one one that will make me go wow July 13th(which also happens to be my birthday..coincidence I think not) is getting closer everyday 156 days..call me crazy but I really think we could see one in a couple weeks i really hope so at least well anyway that knows when this first full..not teaser trailer comes let me know so i stop pulling out my hair..AHHHHHH wacko.gif wacko.gif wacko.gif

I agree with parts of what a lot of you are saying. While I personally have liked the movies more and more as they have progressed, it is because I had to almost disassociate them from their respective books. Sure, I could sit through them and nit-pick about what was missing and about what was changed, but what fun is that. Take the movies with a grain of salt and understand that there will never be a movie that does your imagination (and JKR's wonderful world) complete justice. And as for those of you who thought that Chris Columbus did such a great job with the details, he too was forced to change things in both movies. I agree that the first two did have a rather sugar-coated feel about them, but so did the books. I don't think that the movies delved quite as deep as the books did in the importance of the darker on-going story, but it wasn't that bad of a representation. And as the story has progressed, the books are diving much deeper into that darker side. So the movies that have had a darker feel have done rightly so. I agree that POA lost some of it's effectiveness due to the fact that it was all made to be quite dark. GOF did a good job of conveying an impending sense of doom through continually making the film darker, in content, but also the actual lighting got darker. So the reason that I think OOTP appears to be comparable to POA is that OOTP is a dark book. There is not a whole lot of happiness spread around. The filming of this movie will more than likely carry that same dark feel (once again not only in the story line, but also in the actual lighting). So I think that POA was made to seem darker than the story actually warranted, but I feel that OOTP's events do warrant a much darker feel. I do simpathize with those who say that they cannot imagine cutting OOTP down to fit in a two and a half hour window. I don't much care for it either, but like I said before, go and see it as a movie, not as the book and you might like it more than you think. And you can always take solace in the fact that JKR wouldn't let anything completely integral to the story be cut...that's what she's there for.
fany_monkey
i agree with you cnickelson when you say that the movies aren't going to be the same as the books because our imagination is better
i really hated the PoA! i love the book but when i saw the movie i kept yelling lol they almost chucked me out of the theater! it was awefull to see so many thing taken out! over here in mexico many people believed i was wrong and that i should support alfonso because he's mexican but that has nothing to do with it! i've watched other movies he has directed and they're good but i don't think that this movie was up his alley! so i really hope the OotP is much better than PoA if not i think that i'll be chucked out for real this time lol
ChOco
ummm, well, no. I didn't see much simalaritie betweeen The OoTP trailer and the PoA movie. I mean I agree with fany, the PoA movie was just so much less then I expected, I mean when it was released, I thought it was gonna be really cool, cause of the werewolf transofrmation and all, but srsly, it was kinda soppy and boring in between (sorry, to all you guys who liked the movie). My favourtie book out of all of em is OoTP and my least fav is PoA, so there is no way in hell or heavan that OoTP can be compared to PoA, but that just my opinion, off course, i guess we'll only find out, when OoTP is finally released! tongue.gif
robbie1955
This might be disloyal to the Veritaserum people, but The Leaky Cauldron has a number of trailors, sneak peaks and behind the scenes video clips of OOTP. That's where I saw the Trailers most were put up Jan 31 I think.
monkeymushroom
I remember when i first saw what PoA was to be like and i was confused, worried and anxious about how dark it looked. Still now, i worry that it looks too different from the first and second movies; perhaps they should have blended the second movie into it better.

When i first read the book it was my favourite storyline (with the time sequence and the whole werewolf idea) of all and i felt i truly had my favourite book in atmosphere and tone. When i first saw the movie in cinema, at first i found it all went really fast at the beginning (it might have been the fact that there was hardly any dialogue and so it seemed quicker) and as soon as it got to the hippogriff scene when harry first rides Buckbeak over the black lake it was only then when i had caught up with the movie and i had noticed how quickly it got to that bit from when it began at the beginning. However, after a couple more watches i had got used to the sudden change in tone of the movies and, actually, i found that this movie is also my favuorite one of the bunch.

I think (or have noticed specifically) that so far the atmospheric tone and structure of each movie has actually matched the same with the books. For example, when i look at the first and second books it seems that it would have only looked wierd if they weren't all nice and childlike because it fits the story line. And with the third book the storyline definitely suits the tone of the movie because when you read it you sort of get this feeling and image of scotland atmosphere and that is how it looked. The music had also fitted in with the storyline for me too. With the fourth book - however, it was not my favuorite of storylines and i felt enormously that it was an outcast to the tone and atmosphere of the other books - it was nevertheless different yet had been matched by the movie. I still feel though that the Goblet of Fire is not my favourite of storylines. With the fifth movie i think that so far the storyline matches my favorites with the Prisoner of Askaban because its just got that same kick i got out of the third movie - from what i've seen in trailers and interviews with cast.

I must tell you that as soon as i saw the teaser trailer i knew that it was going to kick off from where it left off at Prisoner of Askaban, because for me both the books and the movies portray almost the same level of excitement and the same darkness/tone as each other. I cannot believe that questioned mentioned on this website as it i hadn't thought that people have had the same hypothesis as i had about two months ago.
qubit
I loved the trailer too.

Only one thing bothered me: the sequence where the Order of the Phoenix pass by Big Ben Tower. It breaks practically every wizarding secrecy law I can think of off the top of my head, and Harry doesn't even have that Chameleon charm on him...what happened to you, Alastor? Becoming less paranoid on celluloid?

I saw that some people here were wonderin about the trailer so for those that haven't seen the trailer yet here it is. happy.gif

i just hope that it comes out soon.. tongue.gif

Okay now all these people keep saying this trailer that came out in November is the trailer let me break it down...

A teaser trailer lasts about a minute and is just to get you thinking about the movie and ecited about it.
The theatrical trailer lasts anywhere from 2 to 3 min and it shows a whole lot more of the movie. soooooo until someone sees or hears of the big trailer lets all be excited and well lately I am really starting to get mad at Yates and his continual dealying of the trailer. It was supposed to be out in mid Jan and now its March sooo anyway Im losing it but hopefully soon I will get sane again.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

ok.....?

now I'm really sad...... sad.gif
