Mrs S Finnegan
just a quick question. how do you think they will tell Hagrid's tale? will they just have Hagrid sit and tell the trio or will they show it via flashbacks? i personally would love to see in in flashback mode but its very doubtful they will ...
jarn
Good question. HOPEFULLY both but probably just in his own words. If at all.

They may very well cut the scene out as there was alot of importance in the figuring out of how to film Grawp, it was headline news when they got it right.

I don't think they would show a whole lot of giants lol, otherwise they would have news on that. Aside from that Hagrid's tale is a bit.. PG-13 towards the end lol.
After the Burial
That is the kind of scene I think they will cut. Actually, I think they are going to cut the entire trip. I think Hagrid will be there at the start of the year. Grawp is not needed, really. As much as I want everything included, I don't think it will be.
Harrys Gurlee
O.o I think they will show and explain Grawp because if you remember from the book, Grawp chases all the centaurs away in the forest and basically saves Harry and Hermione(I think by accident but still tongue.gif).
trinigeeise 4 lyfe
I think while Hagrid is taking them to Grawp, he'll tell them everything that happened and why he's been getting all those cuts.
LupinFan88
At the very least, they will shorten the explaination. I would hope the show him coming back, just to show Umbrige coming to meet him, and it adds a little mystery. trinigeeise 4 lyfe has a point though. I hope they wont do that but it makes more sense.
trevors_protector
all i have to say is that i agree wiith tinigreeise

AUROR EDIT: Hello, would you please check your owls shortly? Thanks! smile.gif

Personally , I hope that Grawp / Hagrids tale / the whole trip is NOT cut from the movie , but , seeing as it is the longest book and it's not really needed it probably will be sad.gif but if the dont cut it out ( i hope!) then I think that flashbacks / hagrid telling them will be used , like he told harry about Voldie in PS
Nemon
Very good question...

I hope, they won't cut it... They cannot cut it...

I hope...

*lol*

It should be like the tale, when Hagrid told (in movie 1) harry about lord v....
Packers
If they do not cut it, i believe the movie will use flashbacks with a voice over. THe flashbacks start after hargrid starts talking.
Moon(I luv you Luna)
I reakon it'll have the trio going down to Hagrids, then Hagrid will tell them the general idea (Not the entire chapter like in the book) and i don't think they'll put in Umbridge coming.

But that would be cool if they had it in flashback mode! laugh.gif

P.S They better not cut it, or i'll be a part of the angry mob outside warner brothers studios, with everyone else, who was annoyed with what they cut out-Hagrids tale is really important! Whether Giants are coming to the order side, or the dark side! unsure.gif

P.P.S That's a cool idea Nemon, i hope it's like that too!
marianita13
it would be cool if they put it in flash back form but really i dont think they will mabey when there trying to figure out why hagrid has scratches hagrid could take them to the forest and show them gwarp and they could be like WHOA! and hagrid could BREIFLY explain wat happened without going into many details (WB is good at not going into deatails)

HA IM A GENIUS!!!
Seriouslysirius
I would be great if they did it in flash backs.
But i don't know if they would...
I think it would tell the tale alot better if they did it in flashbacks. But it depends how much they shorten it down by....
CornishPixie
I really don't think the movie will keep Hagrid's tale. I would be amazed if they even give us flashbacks. I think - as Moon pointed out - it will be whittled down to a short visit to Hagrid's cabin by the trio - if it is even included at all.

I'm leaning towards the thought that they will just get rid of the Giant subplot and Grawp alltogether. It's rotten, but they could tell the story without it. Umbridge could be carried off by the Centaurs with no Grawp being mentioned.

It's such a long book. They will just be completely unable to keep many of the subplots.
Seriouslysirius
I don't know if they can forget the plot completley because Grawp is in the film as far as i know.
I hope they don't get rid of it all, because i personally liked the story of it. It's one of my favourite chapters in the book.
CornishPixie
Wow - that's good to know - I hadn't heard that they had kept Grawp. It was also one of my favorite chapters and plotlines, but I felt like it seemed ripe for him to get the axe. Now I can look forward to whatever time they give him - that's cool!
Lil Cougar
I agree with cornish pixie that it will just be narrowed down to a short visit to Hagrids cabin by the trio.
I really think that they will cut Grawp out because he doesn't really do much, in Ootp or HBP, so in less JK fights it he won't be in there after they make the final cuts... besides Dumbledore didn't send Hagrid after the giants at the end of GOF so whats the point in even having that scene anymore.
I know I must sound like such downer but I just don't think that this movie will be much good after hearing everything that they have already cut... sad.gif
Usagi
I think this is how it will happen...on the way to show them to grawp...hagrid will have a short, to the point explanation of how grawp got there. But thats about it, i do not believe they will elaborate more than that...unfortunately. But we can always hope!
SITH|Redskin
Lil' Cougar. Acutally Grawp will be in the movie. it has been confirmed in an interview. I agree with Usagi that it will probably be a short talk, but they will have it. It is much to important to leave out. Hagrid would know about Umbridge otherwise, and Harry would be able to go to Hagrid to ask for help. I hope they have it because i find Grawp such a cool giant. biggrin.gif
ImObbsessedCompletly_93
They CANNOT cut out that part
that is a really good part of the book
How are they going to explain his face
and gawp?

They better not...

Wow is it true their not cutting Grawp? Let me know for sure please. I thought for sure they would. Although of coarse i wished they wouldn't, but seeing as theyd o need to cut many things and Grawp wasn't that important, I thought they would. But I guess not, again if i'm not right on this correct me. I'm getting mroe and more excited now.
Heir of Slytherin
I hope they don't cut the scene altogether, but I think it will be just Hagrid's own words, no flashbacks. If the filming of Grawp was such a dilemma, then how would they film a whole tribe of giants and giantesses? It's not that important to the story line of the movie, but I sure liked the story. It adds a certain "Je ne sais quoi". It will probably be a very short summary to save time, maybe as trinigeeise says, on the way to introduce Harry and Hermione to Grawp.
Mrs.RonWeasley
wow thats a really great question. Wait their cutting it out? well thats waht i see from what other people write. im really confused now huh.gif

people help me lol

*Mrs. Ron Weasley*
My_Witherwings
Yes, I hope that they introduce the grawp/hagrid's tale in a flashback! happy.gif
monkeymushroom
The flashbacks are not atall necessary, i don't think, because Hagrid is gonna tell them about it anyway when he takes them to see Grawp. Its not atall an essential part of the movie so i think they should leave it, even if it does look good in flashbacks; Hagrid will tell them briefly and simply that Dumbledore had sent him to recruit Giants for extra support against Voldemort and will say (also briefly and simply) that he was of course 'UNSUCCESSFUL' in doing so. And then he will mention that he found his brother, Grawp, somewhere within the pack of Giants and imply that he took him back to Hogwarts. I could imagine at this bit, that Hermione will begin stressing (angrily) at Hagrid of how careless he has been.
Felipe_Black
Grawp is in the film, that is a certainty. I have seen the HBO special which shows picures of what grawp will look like and his voice will be played by Tony Maudsley.

Here is a picture of Grawp:

I think that the producers gave a clue to the giant story being included, they have said that they required snow capped mountains for the opening sequence. I can only think that this is for Hagrids trip to visit the giants. blink.gif
seji
I am pretty sure that they have grawp (i checked the cast page here) but i dont think that they will have a flash-back sene because that would mean that they had to find a montain area with a valley and big caves. it just seems easier to tell it then and there

but dont get me wrong! a flashback sene would be kooool laugh.gif happy.gif
BamaGirl08
Yes, Grawp is in the film, but hopefully they won't completely cut Hagrid's Tale because it's important to the story line to show how Dumbledore is trying to stay steps ahead of Voldemort in order to defeat him this time. I'm sure with the book being so long that they won't go into extravagent detail about it, but surely it would be in the movie, right?
Nawrehsuan
I think that due to time restrictions they will cut the entire scene where the trio are in Hagrid's hut and he tells them about his adventure. I think that they will find out but by different means. I think that most likely what will happen is that whilst Hagrid is going to show them Grawp he will tell them his tale.
carpysports14
I thought the chapter in the book called "Hagrid's Tale" was really boring. I hope they don't include any of it in the movie.
vballchik1413
I think it will show what happened with Hagrid narrating... at least I hope, anyway!

Grawp becomes pretty important so I don't think they'll cut the entire scene!
