i read today on the homepage from the news that rupert says:

QUOTE
Do you think Ron will ever hook up with Hermione?
There are rumors going around, especially about the seventh book and what's going to happen between them. I don't know. It would be quite weird, actually. I'm not sure I'd be looking forward to it. Emma Watson's like a little sister to me. We've known each other for six years! It would feel kind of strange.

does he really consider her as his little sister?
he is not that old nor she is that young so how can she be his little sister, and also i think any boy who would refuse to make out with emma watson is definetly out of his mind, well we know she doesn't spend alot of time with rupert we see her often with dan in any festival, party, anything so i wasn't very surprised when dan said that they were like "brother and sister" because we see them alot with each other and also when someone usually uses little sister or little brother as a figure of speech then they must be older than them with at least four years but rupert is older thatn emma with only two years i think.
what do you think about it?
Spencer Potter
Its not on how old it is, its on how you respect and treat eachother. And besides, we may see Dan and Emma at festivals, parties, music awards, houses or whatnot.. but what about everywhere else, The camera doesnt follow them all day.. You just dont know. ph34r.gif
mayfair
Actually Rupert is the oldest of the three, he's eighteen, while Emma is the youngest of the three at 16. Considering there is a two year gap, perhaps Rupert who also happens to be the eldest of five siblings may consider her like a sister. There's is nothing wrong in that. On screen professionalism may or may not be correlated to personal equations in real life. Rupert and Emma have apepared together on many shows as have Dan and Emma and the three together. Juts because their on screen characters may get involved in a relationship does not mean that their relationship in real life will take a similar turn.
jarn
Lmao. Think of it like this, they've been working together for 6 years. Many times 10-150 hours a day for the past 6 years. I don't doubt they're close enough to have a sibling like relationship.
Spencer Potter
Exactly, 10-15 hours a day, for 6 years.. Ok, I did about 340 times 6. Thats 22,100 days together maybe less or more, then I times it by 15 hours, thats 331,500 hours together, thats sure enough for a sibling relationship.
Ricky_Potter
biggrin.gif Pretty cool
lozza-cm
i wouldn't mind spending 331,500 hours with dan and Rupert..gosh i wish i was in emma's shoes right now lol...
disglassman
Rupert has known emma for along time now, they've through a lot together. on set, they've seen each other when the day begins and when the day ends. They are bascially like family, In an interview, emma said that she hoped ron and hermione do hook up because they are so cute together. I do hope they hook up in the seventh book because that would just make it more exciting.
jarn
Lol they are obviously going to finally get together in 7, otherwise the previous 6 years have been a load of.. well, ya know. Anyways I mean think of it like this, by the time movie 7 comes around Rupert will be 21-22 years old and Emma and Dan not very far behind.. Lol.

Cute couple, eh?
MarcA
Yeah, I don't think there's anything wrong with Rupert saying that. I mean, he sees Emma almost every day, and has done now for six years, so I too would consider her a sister after that smile.gif

If Hermione and Ron were to get together as a couple in book seven, i'm sure it would make a lot of boys jelous, me included wub.gif
Sirius.James
Well, no matter how pretty Emma Watson is, and no matter how many guys would make out with her, sometimes people just don't feel attracted to others in that way. Especially since he's been working with her for a third of his life.

I mean, there's a difference between knowing someone's indeed very good-looking, and actually being attracted to them.

i'm alright with Rupert thinking of Emma as only a sister.
Apperantly he doesn't think of her in a romantic way.Just because their characters
might be a nice couple, doesn't mean they have to like each other.
Emma is so lucky to know Rupert and Dan.Imagine spending all that time with them!!
After the Burial
Isn't it a bit presumptuous of us to want Rupert to be attracted to Emma? It would probably help the romantic scenes of the movie flow a little better, but are they really that bad? As of now, I have seen a great deal of awkwardness on screen. This is how I imagine the characters. They don't start realizing their feelings for one another until Goblet of Fire. Being that Ron and Hermione are both young an inexperienced, I am okay with them acting awkward. I thought that they introduced the romance too early in the movies. It leads to the expectation that the characters will figure it out sooner.
MarcA
Not really... When the first signs of awkwardness between Hermione and Ron started coming out, in Prisoner of Azkaban, both of them would of been right in the middle of puberty, both actors and characters.

i dont think rupret meant it in a patronising way, i dont think it would have made sense if he had said shes like an older sister to me either,i just think that they have known each other for so long and it wouldnt seem right to him to kiss her lol, i hope ron and hermione do hook up though! how romantic!
HPFan792
Well, it doesn't surprise me that Rupert said that Emma is like a little sister to him. They have known each other for many years and have become really close friends. So it doesn't surprise me that he feels like she is a sister to him.I agree with xXxHayleyxXx i don't think he meant it in a patronizing way.He is older than he so he feels like she is a little sister to him.
white owl
uhm, i think you make of this little thing a huge thing...
rup can see em as a little sister, because he's older than her, and because they know each other for 6 years, time enaught to make a strong friendship...
i think em would tell rup is like a big brother for her too, because they've shared almost 1/2 of their lifes togetter, and they know each other very well...
me, f.e., my best femle friend is a month older than me, ans she's like mi little sister too, and i've known her for about 9 years... and she's a model, so many people would think i must be out of my mind, but we would never be boyfriend and girlfriend... sometimes friendship is that strong...

>>xoxox white owl! xoxox<<
Gaunt
You can't change the fact that Ruper might change his mind a little bit, because it'd seem like the two characters in the movies/books are going to get together in book 7, or i'd like to think they were. I know if I was him, I would get together with her. It'd be kind of awkward though seeing as how mine and Emaa's birthday are on the same day. ohmy.gif
Amyrat151
Gaunt, werid but cool about your birthdays being on the same day.
After the Burial, I agree it is presumptuous. I don't find it at all suprising that Rupert thinks of Emma as his little sister. Because he is two year older and has a bunch of younger sibilings, as people have said, so the bigh brother role isn't something he can sake off easily. But I have no fear with how things will go between them in the last two movies. They're both professonals, I think that with reharshal that they'll be able to kiss and do what ever else on screen.

Well I have three thoughts about this particular phrase:

1. Maybe he really does only think of her as a sister. They have been doing these movies together for quite sometime now, and have probably developed a very close, yet plutonic relationship.

2. He is only saying it to throw people off the trail. Ships in the spotlight don't always do very well, and public scrutiny whether for or against can put a lot of pressure on a relationship..Particularly if the peeps involved are teens.

3. I have used this phrase before to end all possible notions of there being a relationship: "No I don't want to go out with you...You are like a brother to me."

It's not impossible to think..That just because Emma is pretty (and I believe sincerely that she is) that Rupert is attracted to her, he might not be. We all have different tastes.

Anyways..That's my 2 sickles worth...
Dark_Fairy3
I just wanted to comment on something real quick. I agree that it's all right for Rupert to think of Emma as a little sister. It's even ok that he would feel uncomfortable making out with her. But making out in a movie doesn't mean you have to be attracted to that person. I'm sure that not everytime people make out in movies their attracted to the other person in that way ( i mean, how many times do you see people making out in movies. Almost every one for crying out loud! )

So i just don't see what the big deal would be, thats all.
Amyrat151
With the special features of the GoF DVD, and the interviews that were given on OotP of abc family, the hole crew of actors are on the HP set is very much like one big crazy family. It makes sense for them all to think of each other like brothers and sisters, and I think makes their performances better. People always do their best work when they're happy and comfy. I think that Rupert and Emma will do a great job because they are so close.

That's not necessarily true. Sometimes off-screen romance can kill on-screen chemistry. Although normal acting can be drastically improved by a feeling of community amongst the actors, sometimes when a couple hooks up off-screen (especially if they "hook up" in the original meaning of the phrase), it creates a sence of familiarity and comfort that you don't want. A couple that has been friends for a long time but realize that they like each other are going to be a bit awkward in a romantic setting. they are going to be nervous. Professional actors are good at hiding nervousness if they need to, but it is easier and better, when you actually want the actors to be nervous, to use natural nerves than to recreate it. That's why I gauruntee that, if there is a Ron/Hermione kiss in the film version of Deathly Hallows, that it will be very believable. As the harry/cho kiss seems like it is going to be. The Harry/Ginny kiss... I don't know on that one. I think that the actors are going to have to hide a lot of nerves to do that.

yaaa....maybe he would consider her as a little sister because of their relationship, i mean, they don't have a "brother.sister" relationship, but maybe he means they've gotten 2 b really close but not necessary 2 b in love. but who knows....

and i totally want ron and hermione to hook up in book 7.....so romantic wub.gif
actually, my bff and i know some data that could happen between them,....so secret.....
-but i hope THAT happens tongue.gif

I have one or two (girl) friends who are the same age as me that I'd say are like "little sisters" to me, it not to do with age, it's just the way you think of them, not like a "big sister", but a little sister, that you'd protect and care for. I can understand Rupert saying it in coversation, totally.

Even if he doesn't say it .. I'm sure a little part of him is secretly hoping to get his lips on Emma Watson lol. Though I personally want to see Harry and Hermione do the kissing, it's been building, but there ya go.
megan_de_lioncourt
I think that its really nice that he considers her as his little sister.. Id also like to state it really doesnt have nothing to do with age. I have friends that are like my little sisters as well, its to do with your love for them, and care, in a way thats like a family.I think its good though he considers her as being that close, because if they do get together in book seven ( thats an IF by the way) than it would be better for them to do the close scenes knowing its just like in a days work then doing them with some complete stranger..Its hard to explain, but i think that it would be easier to do if you know what i mean eh?

Rupert and Emma! It's in Rup's hands now if he likes to date Emma. I mean, They are all grown up. Up to the GOF, thet are still kids, but when OOTP started, we can see changes in their physique. Attraction is there whether we like it or not.
I google about Emma and the news is...Tom Felton is dating her! Shocking uh. Slytherin and Gryfindor!!
No.1_HarryPotterFan
They're definetly going out, then? I didn't know that was confirmed... Anyway, I think it's normal for Rupert to say that he feels like a brother to her... I mean, that's how I feel about my guy friends... but I agree, it would be awkward if they started going out! But who knows, maybe they will...
potterwatch07
Hmmm, haven't seen anything that has confirmed their dating. If anyone finds something let us know. I think that Rup would see her as a little sister since they are really close friends, and have to work so closely together. I saw Emma on Regis, and she was saying that she and Dan are like brother and sister, and they have a great friendship. I think she has really blossomed, so perhaps Rup won't have to much trouble with Hermoine and Ron having a relationship, we shall have to see in the sixth and seventh movies.
crazy4u
I don't know why we always have to doubt everything. And just because they work together and there is something going on between the characters they play,it doesn't mean that there has to be something more apart from friendship.
SeverusBlack
Donot read this reply. It contains spoiler from the Deathly Hollows.....

I agree with Potter. Let us see when they do the 6th and 7th movie, we all lknow what happened in book 7. You know...jealousy things...ooops spoiler!!
lunalunatic
Age dosent matter, he means he loves Emma like sister, so it would be awkward to kiss her, but im postive he wont refuse to do it. Im not surprised this is what Rupert thinks of Emma, they're re just really good friend like Dan and Emma.
LadyLuna
I completely understand Rupert when he said Emma's like a sister! He practically grew up with her! I'm sure now that he has read the book, he must be dreading the scene that they have to kiss in. Look how everyone got so hyped up about Dan kissing Katie Leung and she was only introduced in the 4th film. Think what everyone is going to do when that time comes for Rupert and Emma's scene lol I feel sorry for both of them already. Not about kissing each other but how Dan and everyone else is going to make fun of them endlessly.

I already see it coming. Just watch the AOL Moviephone Unscripted interview with the trio. Dan was looking completely amused at Rupert and Emma's reaction to the speculation about R/Hr getting together. wub.gif

R/Hr forever!!

DeSs
Ha, ha, Rupert and Emma friends!!!
It could be, but it'd be lovely if they make a couple together, I mean ... look at the photos! They're always together! And not in a usual way, they're simply "together". Anyway, it'd be lovely.

(Oh, why I'm so obsessed? Merlin's pants!)
Dumbledore's Widow
Sorry to break bubbles here for some Rupert fans, but have you heard how Emma spent Valentine's Day? It wasn't with Rupert, but with Dan.

It's old news now, but neither Emma nor Dan have denied the article that was printed last week. wink.gif
Merlin_most_baggy_y_fronts
Dumbledore's Widow-we all know about the rumour about that. The same as we all know that this isn't a thread to talk about them getting together. so, thanks, but, really, no need to remind us.

and no one has probably been here since the news. the last thing was posted on February fourteenth, and it could be very well that DeSs had no idea about it when they posted here.

started and last posted on before the rumour.
Capricorn
Er, guys, could I ask you please not to let this thread degenerate into a childish argument about Rupert's love life? rolleyes.gif

Dumbledore's Widow, although you weren't rude, as such, your post was unnecessarily provoking. Merlin_most_baggy_y_fronts, please don't retaliate to posts like that - contact a staffer if you feel something is inappropriate.

Thanks! Carry on, everyone.

Rupert and Emma might have a kind of sibling relationship now..but as people get older sometimes they fall in love. I know a few people that fell in love with friends. One day they looked and everything was different. And between these two...things might change if they do the kiss... Who knows. wink.gif
Crookshanks_ize
My thoughts about this is that maybe Rupert are just used to each others company already that's why maybe he's looking for someone that's different, i hope you understand me? Though,we can't deny that Emma is really attractive, we might think that it's imnpossible for the two boys to fall for her.. maybe they think that adding personal feelings between them will not be a good idea especially that they're working together (with so many eyes lurking around them) ph34r.gif But whatever Rupert feels about Emma might still change, maybe after HP 7 movie, until they realise and work out how they really feel..For the mean time let's stick on what they say until they figure it out.. happy.gif

Right indeed Hermione7,kisses do work things out sometimes.... can't deny the magic in it.
