I was just thinking that maybe if they can keep the same director, they could shoot HBP at the same time as OotP or book 7. Since the trio is getting much older than the characters they're playing, it could help solve the age problem.
However, i think it would be more likely for them to shoot HBP and book 7 at the same time as opposed to OotP since they've already started working on OotP. Unless they've been doing that already and just been keeping it a secret (very unlikely though).

I read somewhere that when they are done filming OOTP that they will begin shooting scenes from the HBP as well something to do w/ time constraints and the overall length of the HBP movie, they will do back to back shooting of the movies together. The filming of the HBP will take at least a year or longer to film so this is another reason they are doing this.

They're wrapping up principal photography for OotP right now, and Dan is scheduled to start rehearsing for Equus in January. I don't see how he can do a HBP shoot at the same time, the play is a fulltime occupation, he doesn't even have time for school. My guess is that they'll start filming HBP in summer '07, possibly before postproduction of OotP is finished, but after Dan's Equus run.

I think it's an excellent idea to film 6 and 7 at the same time. That's what happened with the 3 LOTR movies, and it worked out great. Of course, JKR has to finish Book 7 first, haha.

I did not know that Dan was doing a play at the end OOTP. How interesting. It may make more sense to sart HBP in the summer of next year before or after release of OOTP.

Rupert I believe said in an interview that they would be starting filiming for HBP in summer of 07'. This gives Dan no break because right after OotP is done he does his play, and then right after that is finished he goes into HBP.

I also heard that Half Blood Prince will be shooting this spring/summer. They have to get it done fast because many of the actors/actresses are growing up and looking a bit too old for they're roles.

I guess they can simalcast the two movies. I mean if Peter Jackson can do it then so can the directors of Harry Potter.

Well right after they release OotP, I gurantee that there will definately start right away, and maybe film the 7th book and HBP at the same time. Its possible, likely, sure.

I heard some people say that they'll keep the same cast (I would be devastated if they don't) and they can fix age problems with something called, the computer
I hope that they do shoot two movies at once because then the movies will come out sooner

Maybe they could film certain scenes at once. Sort of like what they did for the Lord of the Rings and parts of Star Wars (the recent trilogy). I think it was Attack of the Clones' specials, they showed Lucas filming Tatooine (sp?) real quick and somebody asked what he was doing and he said he was just shooting a part for the third movie. Maybe they could do things like that, if they haven't already, to speed up the process if they fear the cast will get too old.

Yes it would a very good idea, not because the cast would be too old, but because we can have more harry potter movies in a short peiod of time, I'm so mean!!!! Nah i'm kidding.
Thought it is kinda bad for the cast, I mean, hello??, no break!!! But it'll make many people happy!!

I think that the last two films HBP and DH will probably be shot close together if not at the same time. There doesnt seem to be much time between the release of the OOTP in July and the start of principle photography for HBP, which I believe starts in September. As HBP has been scheduled for a release on 21/11/2008,
Now that the cast have left school, I think it will be easier to make the films as the directors wont have to work around tutors and exams.

I think in the end it won't really matter for some of the actors. They'll look older, sure, but in some movies 25 year olds play 17 year olds. Or even 30 year olds play 18 year olds. I think it'll be alright unless we see them wit 5:00 shadows and stuff.

It doesn't sound like a bad idea

. They filmed all three Lord of the Rings movies at once. It could happen, and it'd allow more time for the younger actor's educations, so they can get "real"

jobs in the non-magical world.

They're planning to film HBP and DH back-to-back.
So once HBP is done then they'll move onto DH.
I'm not 100% sure why they're doing it that way though.
Probably to do with money! I mean, I'm sure Leavesden isn't the cheapest place to pay for!
They'll wanna be out of there when they can, to chop down the ol' budget

I can see them doing this. Let's face it-none of them are getting any younger, though that doesn't really matter (Loook at the guy who played Cedric-he was in his 20's playing a 17-year-old).
But yeah, i'd say it would to get it all over and done with. Imagine it now:
"Dan! We need you in make up, you're doing the Dumbledore's death scene! Then after that, your searching for horcruxes!"
Haha.
But overall, it won't matter, because there're movies. The book and images we see can stay alive in our hearts (How freakin' cheesy!).
Lol.

That would probably be best to shoot the 2 movies at once because they arent going to be young forever!

That's sort of the problem though, the can't be too young looking for deathly hallows. Granted they are still kids in it but I would imagine them to be bigger with strain starting to show in their faces. It would look so much better if they waited a little longer until they were possibly in their 20s. It would really make some rabid fans mad, but to make things aesthetically pleasing should be the first priority when making a movie. Second is obviously script.

I think it's an idea but the problem is these films take such a ridiculously long time to film (10 months or something) it would be a real strain on the actors and might well show in their performances. Also, all the adult actors and now that Daniel Radcliffe in particular wants to stretch his acting legs I'm sure the cast would object. I also agree that I picture the characters in the books as very mature 17 year olds and hence I don't feel their age will be a problem.

I think it's generally a good idea to shoot both movies at once, but then don't forget the majority of the actors are still young and still in school and if they're on set all the time to make two movies at once, when are they going to be schooled? In Lord of the Rings, all of the actors were finished school so ... that worked out nicely. I'm not sure how nicely it would work out with these kids.

most of them would finish school within a year, so i think the seven film production should.go faster than the previous one and i hope the last one might be around 3hrs long atleast since:

that would save time and yet be time consuming and tiring! id feel abit bad for the cast, considering theyd be confused on lines and again, just be too plain tired if working on the movies.

I think that it would be a bad idea, mainly because think of how tiring that would be for the cast! Give them a break, a lot of them are only kids!
I also think that it would look a bit odd if the trio and the other kids looked the same age in both movies. In each movie they've gotten older looking and you can see them grow up on screen. If they shot them both at once then they would look the same age in both films.

Aug 5 2007, 06:23 PM
Erm I don't think it would be any more tiring for the cast, one person can only do so many shoots during a day, with laws and everything, so they would have:

Voldemort and his Death Eaters taping for the first scene of DH called "The Dark Lord Ascending"
while having Harry and Dumbledore doing the cave scene... or some such configuration. It wouldn't be that bad.. they did it with Lord of the Rings, as many said... and that turned out wonderful.

yeah the age thing wont matter in the end the audience is already attached to the characters. even though i hate waiting for each movie to come out

Yeah, the actors are getting a little old for their characters...especially Draco...

And I think it would be pretty busy to be shooting two movies at once, and more than a little confusing, so I think they should just do them one at a time.

Personally, I don't think it's a good idea. I mean, in the books, the characters age, right?!?! So, it would help if they continued to let the actors age between movies, then it would be more realistic, like they really have gotten years older during the summer breaks. Plus, really, there is only a small difference in the ages. For instance, Daniel Radcliffe was 17 when they filmed OOTP, and he was only supposed to be 15 in the movie. There is a bigger difference in some of the actors, but hey, no movie is perfect.
