Wow, where are you all?? lo blink.gif

anyways... can you believe school is already starting again? Now we have a long time till spring break... dry.gif but, back on topic.

Has anyone ever had a prank played on them or played a prank worthy of the marauders or one that the marauders would do if they didn't have magic involved?

Yeah, i played a prank on my dad. It was pretty funny!! biggrin.gif

Well, i found this old wig in my Nan's house that was the same hair colour as mine, but it was a horrible short, old fashioned thing. I thought it would be funny to wear the and say to my dad i got a haircut, as he never seems to notice hair cuts, which is annoying.

Well, he noticed, and said it was lovely (which is sooooo not true! tongue.gif ), but he just looked although he thought it was pretty 'interesting'. Well, i took it off secretely a few days later, and walked back in front of my Dad, who got a HUGE shock! biggrin.gif

He was relieved it wasn't my real hair cut. tongue.gif

I guess you had to be there, but it really was funny! biggrin.gif
madmarauder123
when haven't I? tongue.gif

Ok, so what happened was that when I was at my friends house (his neighbor, who has a huge crush on me and knows I have a girlfriend) wanted me to come over to her house. My friend led me outside on the pretense of getting something, then locked me outside of the house with her. as payback, I filled his locker, backpack and bed the next day with huge, plastic spiders that look like them. hes deathly afraid of spiders. biggrin.gif he won't do that again any time soon.

WAHH!!!! I don't want to have to go back to school!!!!!! Mommy, please don't make me!

marauderishly yours,

I like it back at school! It's fun, there are always lots of pranks involved, plus my friends live hours away from me, so break is boring.

For April Fool's day, I had this plastic tack on which the sharp metal part broke off. So I taped it to my arm with double-sided tape so that it looked like the metal part was in my skin. Then I drew all around it with a red sharpie so it looked like semi-dry blood. Everyone thought I actually had a tack in my arm!

Also, once, I stuck a "kick me" sign on a person's back... devil.gif People did!! shocking.gif Not hard or anything, but...
HPgoldsnitch
OMG you guys, those are some pretty good pranks! lol tongue.gif I wish I was good at pulling pranks... but sadly, I am not... *sighs* oh well.

anyways, I guess this is the last weekend of break for most of us? Then its back to school? dry.gif

LOL XD My sister-in-law is also deadly afraid of spiders and won't even go into a room if she sees a spider for like a week. On Christmas my brother and I placed a fake spider over a necklace in a christmas-wrapped box for her, when she opened it she screamed and threw it across the room necklace and all XD Took us three days to get her to wear it and it wasn't even a real spider!

laugh.gif These are all really funny! I really can't think of any pranks I've pulled on people, I don't think I do that kinda thing very often. I remember when my brother had this toy spider that you could stick to things, so we stuck it on the wall in my sister's bedroom. That was quite funny. But I'm scared of spiders too so when she threw it at me I screamed as well. rolleyes.gif But that's not really a prank worthy of the marauders, is it? Oh well, spider pranks are funny anyway.

Yeah, it's really annoying, it would be so good if we had another week off school. Oh, that just reminded me (don't ask how, it just did) that I have a big maths exam like in two weeks. I completely forgot about it until now! Okay, I really have to revise for it.

hi i am kinda new to this, but anyway i just wanted to ask a question this seemed like the right place to do it.
can someone tell me whether or not james potter actually wears glass during his time at hogwarts? cause me and my friends have had this discussion many times and have yet to work out the answer. i mean it says what he looks like in the pensieve chapter but doesn't actaully state anything about his glasses or not just his hair really.
and after reading countless fanfictions with both him wearing glasses and not it doesn't help. and hp lexicon says he does but it doesn't say where they got the information from.
but if any of you people out there know could you please tell me so i can finally end this exceedingly long discussion!

I hadn't really thought about that until you mentioned it actually, but now I really want to find out if James actually did wear glasses. I looked on HP Lexicon, like you did and it says:

QUOTE
wore glasses (OP28)

And then I looked at chapter 28 of OotP but it doesn't mention him wearing glasses at all. The only thing there is to suggest that he did is:

QUOTE
It was as though he (Harry) was looking at himself but with deliberate mistakes. James's eyes were hazel, his nose was slightly longer than Harry's and there was no scar on his forehead...

If James hadn't been wearing glasses it would have been mentioned as a deliberate mistake, don't you think? But then again, it doesn't say he was wearing glasses, so I don't really know. Oh, hold on, I've just thought of something else...

Yep, found it. Right, you know in PS when Harry finds the mirror of Erised? Well, read the description of his father in the mirror...

QUOTE
The tall, thin, black-haired man (James) standing next to her (Lily) put his arm around her. He wore glasses, and his hair was very untidy.

So, there you go, he does wear glasses. Well, as an adult at least but I think we can assume that he had them when he was at Hogwarts too, right?

LovelyLily
I am also going to assume that he wore glassses in school. Hes James Potter, and like Harry he has glasses. I think its a safe bet to say that he had them during Hogwarts.

Pranks...I'm not very good at them and if I do something of the sort its not a very big thing.

Lucky! Everyones going back tomorrow and I went back last week dry.gif

Oh and hi Katie! I like your new icon its neat...

Hi! It's over 500 posts already! How time flies... And I don't want to go to school either because of the work, but I want to go as well because I'll see my friends again (I live farthest away from school).

Anyway, I, too, think that James wore glasses, because people'd have wondered how Harry came to wear glasses. James was everything Harry is but the eyes, so I conclude he must have worn glasses at that age, too. (Talk about assumptions.. haha)

One of the "pranks" my classmates once did on April's Fool, was that they switched clothes and went to different classes. They're twins, I can see the difference between them (and I think it's a large one), but the teachers apparently didn't. It was quite hilarious. I can imagine Fred and George going to different classes as George and Fred. tongue.gif

Marieke
mrs_v_padfoot
well we will just have to assume that james did wear glasses at school, because i guess they would have pointed out the fact that he did or didn't in the pensieve scene cause they pointed out all the differences and that would be a major one if he didn't. thankyou anyway.
Golden Phoenix
Hey, I just got back from school and I've already got an amazing amount of homework that I have to do for later this week. I really hope my teachers are nice tomorrow and don't give any otherwise I think I'll get really annoyed with all this work I have to do. Anyway, I've just broken off from writing up an essay (by hand as our printer won't work for me) to post in this thread...

Yep, I agree with you there. You know, it probably is in one of the other books that James wore glasses while at school, but I don't really want to check through all the books right now so I think we'll just have to assume that our assumptions are correct. Wow, that sounded really weird - assume the our assumptions are correct. rolleyes.gif Anyway, I hope you were able to tell your friends that James Potter does actually wear glasses, mrs_v_padfoot.

Hmm... Pranks... I really can't think of any right now, at least not any that I have done personally. Maybe I could remember a couple that I've seen other people do... Erm... Oh, I know. This was actually really funny, but maybe the kind of thing you actually had to be there for. Oh well....

Well, once this guy brought a brick into school, which wasn't actually a real brick but a sponge that look really like a brick. Sounds a bit unlikely that it would look realistic if you haven't seen a brick shaped sponge, but I can tell you it fooled most people. So there we all were, just standing around in our lunch break and this guy started throwing the brick-sponge about and of course whoever he threw it to started screaming until they realised that the 'brick' was actually soft. That was kinda funny, but the really funny bit was when a teacher walked past where we were all standing and the sponge was thrown at her. The look on her face was hilarious, she actually looked like she was going to wet herself or something. I'm surprised that the person who threw it wasn't given a detention but I think the teacher was a bit too shaken to tell him off. Anyway, that's the brilliant prank, although I doubt it sounds that brilliant unless you actually see it for yourself. It is good though. laugh.gif

Hi! I am new, and I have been a fan of the Marauders ever since I read the third book, and I thought I'd join!

I just pretty much assumed that James wore glasses. I mean in the Mirror of Erised he wore glasses, so I just assumed he wore them at Hogwarts. I never really thought that much of it.

For pranks, I am not that great, but I do pull them for April Fools Day. Last year, some I remembered were, I taped with double sided tape my mom's coffee cream to the counter. She is addicted to coffee, so it was pretty funny when she tried to pick it up but she couldn't. I drew all over my brother's face when he was asleep. I pulled others but the only other one I remember was I tied a rubber band to the lever of the sink's hose. So if you turned on the water it sprayed you. Other than that, I just like to scare people by jumping out at them. Thats all!

Peace,
Ginny cool.gif

I'm pretty sure he did. Because remember in the photo album that Harry got from Hagrid in first year, it had a pic of James Lily and Harry and James was wearing glasses. Also, at school everyone says he looks like his dad (except his eyes) so I guess that would include glasses.

haha, lol love the prank stories... spongy brick. lol

laugh.gif Well, I thought they were good. I like the coffee one. My friend did something like that once but with money. She stuck it to the table and everyone tried to pick it up but they couldn't. That prank is funniest when you glue money to the street though... I haven't done it personally but I saw somebody do that, and nearly everyone who walked past bent down to pick it up but couldn't . I was just standing there laughing until my mum dragged me away. laugh.gif

Anyway... I was just wondering if I could add a little topic here. It's kinda like the prank one so that topic doesn't have to stop. Well, I was just thinking, as it's Snape's birthday today (happy birthday Severus) what kind of prank do you think would be a good one for the marauders to pull on Snape specially for his birthday. I won't say anything yet, as I don't really have any good ideas. I know some of you guys will though...

Today is his birthday? Happy Birthday Severus... jerry.gif magic.gif

hmm... pranks the marauders would pull on him on his birthday... wacko.gif wow... well, they would probably have a whole day worth of pranks for him. They could start with when he wakes up changing his hair color. Then it could rain confetti on him all day... idk, I'm not very skillled at pranking. But I am sure that the other member here could come up with some good ones... happy.gif

Wow, they definitely wouldn't leave him alone all day on such an occasion! tongue.gif Who knows what they'd do? Maybe they'd make his robes rip, or change his monotone voice so that it sounded more cheerful! Snape would hate that! He'd have to speak in an annoying sing-songy over-optimistic voice all day!

WoW this thread has moved since i was hear last..
Pranks? on poor sevvie? never.

They'd have a timetable.
7:00 an enchanted book would fly into the slytherin dometories and wake him up
8:30 (or whatever time breakfast is) A large pair of grey pants would be dropped off by an owl. They would scream "I belong to severus snape!!!" rather like a howler..
9:30 As severus tried to concerntrate in animal transiguration, the marauders would take it in turns to transifgure his animal into another pair of grey pants....
11:00 as Snape traveled from class to class, a large bottle of shampoo and some soap would beat him around the head....
Lunch: Ballons would be everywhere. I mean everywhere. they would have a big picture of snape on and say "Happy Birthday snivillus!" You wouldn't be able to move. His face would be EvErYwHeRe!!!
14:00
: divintation. Tea leaves. serverus is going to have a surprise visit from an enemy on his birthday
16:00 good old fashioned water bombs
17:00 hes already wet, may as well push him into the lake.
18:00 SURPRISE!!! A surprise party for severus snape. There is music and food and... NO people.
the marauders would then leave him alone, to lure him into a false sense of security....
22:59 projections of the marauders would dance around severus' bed singing HAPPYT BIRTHDAY TO YOU for a whole hour and one minute (this is the visit that was predicted.....)

wow i never knew i had the evil in me...

madmarauder123
I take a break for three days to catch up on my work and we have a new topic, new members and are talking about pranking snape without me? geez, thats the last time I late school get the better of me

ok, first they would send him a howler in the great hall saying how he would be getting that rash ointment any day now, and to wish him a very very happy birthday, love mommy poo, sevvy shakes. they sabatoge his wand in charms, DADA and transfiguration, so it says very suggestive things to the teachers. Like for flitwick, it would say "What was that by my leg? Oh, it was you professor flitwick" in his voice. and in potions, they slip in something that creates a bright pink color, and they use a spell to make him have his head dunked in it, causing his face to go bright pink for the rest of the day. and at dinner, he gets ANOTHER howler, this time from daddy, saying how he wouldn't be getting the go-go pants he wanted, and would be getting a beating when he gets home. and they put an insomnia draught in his pink potion, so he will stay awake as long as his face his oink, which should be for about two weeks.

welcome to the fold, Ginny_Hermione! glad to have you among the ranks of the marauders! ahh, remember when I came here, so young and insecure. And I remember Hp_RULES welcoming me in. well, I'll be her! only, you know, a guy. Obviously. Ok, I'll stop. tongue.gif

lol, intersting topic

k, aniwayz, here goes

Sirius- daring, forcefull, smart(and in my opinion, kinda cute)
JAmes - fun-luving, smart, truthfull, cheeky
Remus -loyal, caring, optimistic
Peter- erm....supportive (i guess)
amortentia<3
I love that they're all so funny and adventurous, except for wormtail he's just an idiot. You would probably never be board around them and there all supposedly good-looking, again not counting Peter. It's also good that they're smart. Ignorant people annoy me, like Peter, if I could chop his head off with a toothbrush I would.

-A.B.-
Lord Jak
With Sirius I'd have to say that I like the way he never gave up and his loyality to his friends, even at the cost of his own life. With James it would have to be how he saved Snape from Remus even though they were enemies and how he died protecting his family. I like pretty much everything about Remus, but what really stands out is how he always plays the calm person of the group even though he has more problems than most people would be able to handle and how he tries to help those who have been bitten by other werewolves to still live life and never to give into the animalistic side. As for Peter... I guess the only thing I'd like about him is how he follows orders dry.gif
LovelyLily
3 Days!!! You? I can not believe it!

Well...

James:funny, suck up, the way he will do anything to get Lily
Sirius: Brave, funny, always has a plan/prank
Lupin: Smart, loyal, kind
Peter: He's there to make the other marauders feel even more popular so supportive in a way..

Marauderishly Yours,
Lily
madmarauder123
I know, I couldn't either....

Ok, heres mois list!

James: free willed, careless, and a prankster

Sirius: very casual, the other prankster, and has a stubborn streak that won;t go away

Remus:a bookworm like myself, the intelligent one, and very, very caring

Peter:Loyal (but not always to his friends), and quick thinking (rarely)

well, there you go!

marauderishly yours,

madmarauder
stag
Nice lists! Here's mine:

Sirius: not sure how to put it. Slick, I guess? You know that casual elegance JKR was talking about in book 5? How he's really smooth in the way he goes about everything? How does he do that?!

James: prankster but can be serious and all that when he needs to.

Remus: really compassionate, understanding, kind.

Peter: um...avid cheerleader? biggrin.gif
HPgoldsnitch
Oooh... like magic! lol magic.gif

Good topic. tongue.gif

James: caring, passoniate, persistant, smart, funny, loyal
Sirius: funny, witty, charming, loyal... and I am gonna borrow what stag said and say smooth.
Remus: smart, loyal, wise, patient(kinda like merlin i think)
Peter: um...quirky, loyal to those with the most power at the time

~snitch
madmarauder123
ooo, stag, I liked the sirius one. Thats the word I was looking for. Slick. I like it!

hey, I have an announcement. I will not be on for a while, as I have upcoming finals. so heres my little list thing..-
its them at school, they were nicer then
and more alive

Sirius: Charming, relaxed (about schoool and stuff, he'd be a great person to take your minds off of things), brave & loyal, he is very loyal
James: caring, his stubborn and obnoxious nature could be quite amusing, he iss a good friend and devoted
Remus: Intelligent, sensitive, more quiet- and he could help with homework. He is friendly and loyal
Peter: dependent, its not always good, but if you were in a caring mood you could help him. devoted for short periods of time.

Ginny_Hermione
Thanks for making me feel welcome all! Ok the marauders....

James-Shows off a lot, but protective of his friends, and very loyal to them. A prankster, and funny.
Sirius-Witty, always seems to know what to say, another prankster, so confident of himself too. He is also unconsiderate of others feelings, and will do anything for a prank. But he is a great friend, who's always there.
Lupin-Loyal, smart, kind, and forgiving. The nice one, but still is in on all the pranks.
Peter-ummm... Supportive, I guess. Easily over excited I guess.

Peace All,
Ginny cool.gif

Oh, okay then... Hmm... Wait, is this when they were teenagers or adults? Because they all changed quite a bit, I think. Hmm...

Sirius: Funny, laid-back, casual, quick witted...

James: Funny as well, jokey, daring, not afraid of breaking the rules...

Remus: Intelligent, book lover (books are good), loyal, a good friend (that's like the same as loyal but oh well)...

Peter: Loyal (but not necessarily to the right people), I dunno what else.

Ok, so I should probably post something worthwhile instead of just complaining so here you go:

Sirius: Of course he is loyal, cute ( wub.gif ), smart, relaxed, funny, has a bit of a bad boy in him, brave,he is more humble then James, etc.
James: Also funny, devoted to Lily, not as rash as Sirius, intelligent, loyal, brave, etc.
Lupin: Obviously smart, bookish, humble, quiet, considerate/caring, loyal, brave, sweet, etc.
Peter: Well, I suppose he is loyal when he wants to be....nope, sorry, nothing nice to say about Wormtail ( mad.gif ).

Cheers,
~Chelsea~

Oh, I have been a bit behind *obviously* on internet galleons so I will go get caught up, but if I forget something please let me know! Have fun getting starting on marauder day stuff!

Hi! I haven't been on here a week or some... blink.gif Everyone who joined, WELCOME. tongue.gif

James - loyal, smart, stubborn (it can be good!), funny, prankster #2, charming, good reflexes, caring, sensitive (maybe it doesn't show, but everyone is! to some point at least... and he's very sensitive when it comes to Lily).

Sirius - loyal, smart, funny, prankster #1, charming, good reflexes, seemingly not caring (but I think he cares a lot! it just doesn't show!), good friend who will always be there if you need him (same goes for James and Remus).

Remus - smart, loyal, a good friend whom you can talk to (even if it's about a "bad" thing), considerate, caring, quiet, patient, sensitive.

Peter - smart (he IS an animagus after all... how much help he got, he had to change himself in the end... which is supposed to be hard), supportive with everything (the good and the bad)... It's hard to point out good points for him, because he's not as much described as Sirius, Remus and James, but he must have some other good points...

Good ideas on the creative things! The thing with me is that I have the most inspiration when I don't need it - like when I have to study for important tests and stuff. Then I get the best ideas. It's really annoying...

I was just reading back on the qualities, and all anybody can really come up with is that he is loyal to those with power. I'm sure there must have been something more to him, the marauders wouldn't have been friends with him just because he was a good cheerleader. He must have been helpfull in some way, maybe he helped remus after his transformation, he cant have just been an extra person, certainly not enough for Lily and James to make him secret keeper. there must be something more to him, people hate wormtail, and i cant blame them, but nobody really stops to think about what peter pettigrew may have been like, once upon a time.
Any Ideas?

Marieke! get those bursts of inspiration down! would you abandon your dear marauders for some test? would you? would you??? shutup.gif

Thanks Taylor! happy.gif How nice of you! biggrin.gif

Ok, ok, I will try and consider Peter's good qualities. But before I do...

I think that he could have just been an extra person if you really think about it. Yes he was part of the group, but he was only made secret keeper because he was the weakest out of James and Lily's friends. They wanted one of the marauders to be his secret keeper, obviously, because he trusted them the most so they wanted Sirius to do it, but Sirius knew that Voldemort would come after him first and if they gave it to Peter then it would be in less danger because Voldemort would never expect weak, measley Peter Pettigrew as the keeper of their whereabouts. Then they only didn't trust Remus with it because they thought he was the one passing secrets to Voldemort so the fact that Peter was the secret keeper only proves that he was weak and tricky.

I do see where you are coming from though, he had to have had something for the marauders to take him in as one of their closest friends. Just consider the fact that James and Sirius liked their praise, so maybe they liked him around to admire what they did. You do have a good point though, he would have had to have been decently intelligent to become an animagus. James and Sirius would be able to help him to a certain extent, but in the end it had to be him who would need the ability to change into a rat. You an also give him some props on loyalty while they were at school. Then it did say in the books that Peter helped with some of their pranks so he was probably a decent prankster. And that is ALL that I will ever give Peter because I still believe he was nothing more then a cheerleader, though I do see where you are coming from.

He must have. But I agree with you that in the beginning they took him in as a cheerleader in a sense that he was amazed by everything they did and they were like his idols... But maybe as they got older, they may have tried to ditch him. Especially in the last year when James deflated his head a bit. I can't really think what other qualites Peter had though that would have made him a member of the marauders. Except as you all said, he must have been somewhat of a good prankster or good assistance or a distraction or something...

LovelyLily
Also the marauders do like the attention edspecially James happy.gif as we see whan hes catching the snitch in the fifth book and Peter keeps staring at him in awe. Peter also would hang out with them wanted of unwanted I think to a certain extent. I also think that Peter is stronger than we realize. When he killed Cedric *sobbs* he used and unforgivable that has to have power behind the spell fir it to work , not anyone can cast one. Also he was using someone elses wand. Peter only those who are in power. At Hogwarts the marauders were popular and so were in power to a certain point and no Voldemort is highest in power and so is following him.

*tear* so sad your leaving madmarauder but Ias well will not be on that much the next two weeks Finals ergggg dry.gif So Au Revoir and Happy Posting! happy.gif

Marauderishly Yours,
Lily

Oh and about Marauder Day....what does the fanfic have to be about? Just the marauders and does it have to involve a major prank?

Yes! I'm trying. The thing is that I don't want to fail my tests either... but I get easily distracted and there goes Marieke writing... tongue.gif

And, madmarauder and LovelyLily, you have your final exams these weeks? I have them in May, so I thought everyone'd have them in May, but I guess it's just Holland having the Central Exams in May. mellow.gif I hope you'll do well.

So, Peter also has power, which can be used for the good and for the bad. It's a charactistic (sp?), but not necessarily a good one. (We were discussing the good ones, right?) What bad character-things do we know about Peter? About James, Sirius, Remus? tongue.gif Hope we can discuss that, too, if it hasn't been done already in the other thread.

They're all a bit self-centered, if you look at what they do in pranks. They don't think like "What if it (emotionally) hurts someone?", but I guess that's the fun bit about their pranks. dry.gif
They hold their grudge long, as does Snape. Maybe Remus does it less, maybe not at all, I don't really know. But at the same time, they're forgiving (maybe except Peter, I guess we don't know him as well as James, Sirius and Remus). Though I can't see Sirius forgiving Peter for what he did. tongue.gif Then that's the grudge thing. But what Peter did, selling them out to Voldemort, was a big thing, getting them killed, so it's easier to hold a grudge than to forgive.

Marauderishly yours,

Marieke

Nope, I live in Colorado and our first set of exams were right before Christmas, and we don't have our second set until the end of the year *not including the AP exams and the ACT and stuff* Well, good luck guys!!!! happy.gif Study hard!

Bad Qualities:
Sirius-Doesn't know where to draw the line (such as with pranks), cocky (he isn't as cocky as James, but his head could have used a bit of deflating), and he was really mean if you were his enemy.
James-Self-centered/egotistical and also pretty mean to his enemies.
Lupin-He didn't know how to stand up to his friends and I think that is about it.
Peter-Traitor, the weaker of his friends, not very intelligent, and a follower.

The fan fiction doesn't have an assigned plot this time, it can be about whatever you want as long as it involves the marauders! happy.gif Um, it doesn't have to have a prank, but if you include one then that will get you some extra support!!! You have a much better chance of winning if you make it entertaining!

Exams this week? huh.gif

Marauders Day... yep, June 21st I believe... As Chelsea said, the fan fics can be about anything, just as long as it is about the marauders. But I think we are gonna have certain categories for them.

I think maybe a new topic is needed... Why do you think that Snape was choosen as their main victim for pranks? I'm not sure if we have discussed this already.

Why do you think that Snape was choosen as their main victim for pranks?
I think they chose him simply because he was the easiest victim to pick on. He was 'ugly' obsessed with the dak arts, had no friends, and wasn't the most sociable of people. I think however, that if he had reacted differently, say, not at all, they would have picked on someone else once in a while. He made it worse by hating them openly, and cursing james whenever he could. Although to be fair to him, he was only protecting himself...

OMG!!! i am soooooooo sorry i just realised I hadn't posted in here in a really long time!! Anyway what have you all been discussing?, well obviously something about the marauders.
HP_RULES!
Hey guys! happy.gif Welcome back HPfan#1, it has been a while since we have seen you here! So since Daniel gave Taylor the magic hat *pout* she just started a new topic (nice timing!). We are now talking about why Snape was the main victim of pranks, curtesy of the marauders.

I think that Clara had some good points, about Snape being an easy target and all, but I think that their hatred may go deeper than that. I don't see the marauders as cruel people who would randomly start picking on some kid, I kind of envision their hatred maybe coming about as a result of a situation like Harry and Draco's. They may have had an incident on the train to Hogwarts their first time going there or something that set them off. Maybe in the beginning it wasn't that bad, but as time progressed the pranks they pulled on eachother got worse and their hatred ran deeper until the werewolf prank, then after that obviously there was no going back. Then, like Clara said, there is always the fact that he is a pretty easy target. The fact that he was in Slytherin doesn't help much either, so yeah, that's what I think.

Have a good night all! happy.gif Sorry I am not posting very often, dumb school, but I am trying!!!
Marieke
Yes, HP_RULES! That seems very likely.

However, it could also be that they knew each other even before they went to school. Or their parents had a fight with his, which James knew and didn't approve of (or something like that). blink.gif Since he lived in a pure-blood non-muggle-hating family, he could have heard many things about "bad" families, heard what dark wizard do, heard of some families that he wouldn't want to be friends with - then made his own opinion.
But, then, if it were true, how could he be friends with Black? Since his family isn't all that nice and is into the dark arts, or at least very supportive of dark arts. sleep.gif

Anyway, I hope J. K. Rowling will tell us something about the marauders in the next book (she has already promised us something more about Harry's parents, if I understood right here, on the fora).

hmm, i understand what Chelsea is saying, but remember that they were probably jsut eleven years old when they met. Eleven year' olds dont need much of an excuse to pick on eachother, even if they are not really cruel people, they can still be horrid. I found out today *yet again* that fourteen and fifteen year olds can be just as bad.
Although there was something more as they got older, a deeper hatred of eachother, at eleven yers old, it is hard to imagine real hatred fo ranother child, let alone feel it, whatever they believe.
I thinkit just progressed from children that disliked eachother to youing adults that hated eachother.

I agree with you guys. Their case was kinda like Harry and Dracos. But I don't think that Snape was as outgoing as Draco. And like you said, they were 11. But do you think that something happened on the train or the beginning of first year that made them hate Snape right away? I hope that JKR gives us more info in the 7th book...
