I think Lavender will be cast, I've seen on some lists that they're casting her...
maybe they forgot her or someones already been cast...which booo i want to be Lavender, and not just cause i wanna get off with Rupert, but hey Romilda will do for me too =P
but yeah they'res quite a few lists like that around that have more or less people on them, they'res quite a few new characters in HBP anyway so maybe not all lists will have all the characters on them.

i think lavender will be an open audition instead of them going through acting schools because not everyone has the acting talent and some people who do can't go to an acting school either because they can't afford it and there parents might not let them so i think if theres open auditions they'll be an equal chance

Ok so i'm sending off my first letter to leavesden tomorrow,
I have included my letter including: about me, my experience in drama and acting, the character i want to audition for, why i want to be that character, why i would be a good choice and my contact information. I also have a number of photos, face shots and full shots.
But i think i'm missing something.....can anyone tell me if they think i should include anything else (i'm not doing an audition tape because of 'technical difficulties' though)

daniel radcliffe doesn't wear contacts, he was ment to but they really hurt his eyes... anyway i hope they hold auditions fo the most popular charcters people want to be because they did that OotP, and then the least popular can just go through agents and performing schools, could make it more popular for them, ah well

I was just wondering how many new characters are there in HBP? I mean, eventually they must run out of needing extras or do they get new ones in every film? It would be quite cool just to be able to say you were an extra in harry potter, but i'd rather do some serious acting. I really thought I had a chance at luna lovegood but obviously i didn't get the part, after that i feel there aren't any other characters that i could play apart from an extra. How do they pick them anyway?

i dont know how many new characters there are and how many there looking for and with extra's ive heard they just go to some drama schools and uni's and take a handfull of students with them.

I thought I would give the extra thing a shot. So I am writing a letter right now, I am just afraid that I put too many details into it or that I forget something important.. The chances are small that they even send me an answer, but I like the thought of sending a letter to Leavesden ; )

I am not British, so I can not cast any of the characters, but if I were, and if there were open auditions, I would definitly go to them. Not because I think I am a great actor, or that there is any particular reason to cast me, but because it would be a great experience. (sometimes I really wish I was British )

are they letting people from other countries be extras because they arn't really cast they are just a load of people in the film for about a week then they go home and another look will come in for a week.. the extras keep changing and it would be a bit pointless for them to get people to do it from other countries when its more convienient for them to just get people who live near the set!

anyway i hope for your sake that they do have people from other countries as extras!

i dont think they will be casting from anywere other than britain because the books are based in britain so to keep it true to the book even if the person doesnt have a part it would be better to keep the cast and extras as british people

I have to agree with everyone here, to be perfectly honest it's JKRs world and her world is at the moment very much British so i doubt that even extras could be cast from other countries.
Also for extras they go ainly through drama schools and universitys so you'd probably find that the only way you could get a part unless you were part of a drama organisation would be to go through an open audition.
Sorry to dampen anyones spirits but it has been said many times before, but good luck to any non-Britains applying.... you never know

they wouldn't do open auditions for extras its pointless! they just have a random group of people that changes every so often!

It would be cool to be an extra, but it's only british as everyone has said, which to be honest is reasonable seen as what i've just said! it would be an experience, but it would be pointless for people to pay that much money to come here to be seen in just one scene if that!

totally agree there Lav, most extras end up quite reguarly being cut out of the entire film so it would be a waste of money, and time to be honest.

i just hope they hold open auditions for Lavender or Romilda really....i want to be either one of them so much =]

well hopefully they will.. i mean they held open auditions for harry ron and hermione and you'd think they woudl be pretty easy characters to find!

I just hope that the auditions are not between the 15-24th of july because I'm in italy at that time! though that is just after OotP comes out and the week that DH comes out so hopefully they won't seen as so much other Hp stuff is happening at that time!

Maybe towards the end of the week that DH comes out, then i'll be back from holiday, tanned and hopefully my stomach will be more toned then aswell and i can look pretty and hopefully get by the first auditions on looks alone.
sounds shallow i know, but well that kind of is what gets most people through the first auditions isnt it? *sorry if i'm wrong*

and i agree, they held auditions for the three main parts who as you said would be the most easiest to find (or should have been) but they held open auditions for that.

hurry up and tell us the dates Leavesden....i'm waiting for a reply to my letter now as well, i sent it off yesterday so hopefully it'll be here by next week *fingers crossed*

no they can't have them the same week! after the 24th i'll be back in england then, hopefull nice and tanned ( i don't know what's italy going to be like this summer?)

Yeah true, and then everyone could get a better sense of what the character they're auditioning for is like because you can kind of just guess then how they.... well i guess evolve is the right word...to be who they are in the next book.

It'll also give the casting office a bit of breather too...i bet during the release of the film and the book letters into Leavesden will double and they'll have a lot more to handle.

all i know is when i'm away i'll be glued to cyber cafes making sure i know all the latest updates about what's going on with auditions.

yep same! when i'm in italy i'll be going on my phone internet just to see what is going on!

Thankfully newsround have a mobile connection so i'll be able to see whats going on when i'm in italy!

luckily im going on holiday and staying in the luxor hotel in las vegas so that will most deffinatley have a internet cafe, ill be on here so much and just trying to find out the dates, if they are when im away or when your away i'd advise getting your parents to write a letter to leavesden trying to get you an audition after you get back and saying that the holidays beenbooked since the year before which mine has. but i really think they wont hold the auditions untill really late june early august but i could be wrong because they no that alot of people will be on holiday at that time

they aren't true! WB has said they are not true and also if they are saying auditions are going to be held in spain and greece then it can't be true because they only want british people applying for the part!

does anyone know about Lavender Brown and wheather or not there will be auditions for her. I know that she was put into the Prisoner of azkaban movie, but her name was never mentioned nor would any one know if it was her unless they really looked into it. And she has not apeared in any other movie. So i am curious as to wheather or not they will replace her. Thanx so much!

at this point i dont think anyone knows but i would guess that there will be open auditions for her because of her and ron and they way ron and hermiones friendship changes and the way the get further apart

good point ollie-hampson! it is still early days for us as we no nothing as no information has come out! when there is news then we will know!

but i think Lavender will have auditions because with the girl who suposedly played her in PoA well as Kita Granger182 said she wasn't mentioned, it was after the film that people named her Lavender! and also they had people named as pravati in PoA, but then in GoF they had recast... hopefully that means that lav is going to be recast

it wouldnt suprise me if they did recast lavender because the girl who played her before because she didnt get much attention probably thought, why am i doing this i'd be better off doing somthing else leaving her role open

however she may have stayed because she would be getting lines and things but i think she wont stay and for all the girls who want the part i hope she doesnt stay because from what you all have been saying i think some of you deserve the part

im just writing a letter and i have no idea what to write, i mean i dont want to sound deperate lol

It's been announced that filming starts in September, but there've been no open auditions as of yet.

As for the letter you should write about:

- The part you want and why you think you'd be good at it
- Why you would be a good person to work with (eg hardworking and stuff)
- Yourself, as in appearance, acting history and any other relelvant information like if you have any qualifications like a GCSE or A level or something in drama
- Your strengths and weaknesses

And I can't really think what else you could put in the letter.

But just don't be all 'I want to be in Harry Potter because I love Harry Potter....HPs amazing!!!' and things like that because they probably won't take you very seriously.

I would take a headshot though, I've heard that they help loads because the casting directors can get a sense of whether or not you suit the part or something.

i cant really put any qualifications etc seeing as im 15 and for the headshots i dont have nay so im going to send them just a normal one of me looking at the camara ( is that a headshot if its from a different angle?)

i havent been in school shows either seeing as i just want to be an extra but i think that the experiance would be amazing !!!

and yeah i agree with you about prefering to act infront of cameras (or atleast with stage lights on so i can't see anyone like we had in our GCSE exam a few weeks ago =P) but i think thats mainly because the stage productions my school do are musicals, but i can't sing and they don't even consider the fact that some people want to act so much but they cant necessarily sing.

i think your really pretty! good luck on becoming an extra, it would be cool to do it but annoying if they cut out our scene! especailly if id workd my butt off because i had to do something hard or something! you get what i mean... hopefully you'd still get payed for wasting your time though lol

I think i'll end up asking to be an extra because i'm pretty sure there won't be any speaking parts I could do. I guess in your letter you'd just say that you would like to be an extra, and if they like you they ask you to come along for a day or two during filming. It would be a cool thing to do but I wish I could do some real acting....
