I love reading this ship from time to time ...
1st- I love the Marauder Era and anything that comes from it in fact I once read a crazy Remus/Sirius Male Preg full of slash fic just because it came from the Marauder Era!
2nd- The agnst that would go on is a marvlous read
3rd- I think they'd make a pretty out-of-the-odinary couple (doncha think?)
I have more reasons, but I don't come across many people who seem to like this ship because there al into James and Lily but if your a lover of Sirius and Lily express your love or (dislove) here.

I love reading the ship but I don't like the idea of it (does that make sense?) I love it, but I hate it. Because I'd never touch my best friends boyfriend 1st off because most of my friends and my best friend is a guy and 2nd off because I'd never do that to a friend ... no offense but that just hits bellow the belt.
I don't think I can see it happaning but I love to read it because of all the crazy agnst.

hmm.. I guess it is possible he loved her but I'm not sure. I'm not sure that would be a good thing.

I did read this one fanfic where it had it that Sirius was Harry's real dad, thought that was pretty cool. But I do love anything thats with the Marauder Era.

I love Sirius, and i love Lily, and i love the Marauders..
but i don't like them together. If James had never happened, and he didn't like Lily, then i would be fine. But i think that Lily loved James the whole time, even though he was a bullying toerag
I'm kinda for just the whole Lily and James thing

I could picture both Sirius and James liking Lily in earlier years and then Sirius asked her out and then James got really mad, but really Lily really went out with Sirius to make James jealous? But then I don't think that Sirius would ever do anything to hurt James like that.

First, I know what you mean - I LOVE reading fanfics about the marauder era

I think more than anything that sirius would have been a 'player', sort of moving from relationship to relationship - possibly searching for love but taking good advantage of his good looks to widen the search

I think that maybe when they first set eyes on Lily they may have both liked her and gone for it, perhaps (maybe in my humble opinion) that Sirius was more interested in the chase of a girl who couldn't be played but as it became more apparent how much James cared for her, then Sirius backed off
I did read a beautiful fanfic (can't remember where to be honest) that was on a similar line, that Sirius and James both fancied Lily when they first saw her, but as James made it obvious that he really liked her, Sirius retained his lyalty to his best friend by not trying anything, but the more he got to know her, and to hear James speak of her and their rleationship - he started to gradually feel more and more in love with her, and all the while he still supported his friend whilst secretly crying inside - and noone could compare to what he felt for her, so he never married (they made it sound more beautiful - this is why I don't write fnafics

) - that was the first time I thought aww thats so lovely and wanted them to be together
I love the whole requited-unrequied love thing, where they both liked each other but cared too much for James to act on it, both hiding their feelings and making it seem to the other that it was unrequited (I'm an old softy at heart)

I absolutely LOVE this topic... because I have always secretly thought that something happened between Sirius and Lily, and that that is why the Potters changed their secret keeper at the last minute, because James found out!
I think that Sirius was definitely in love with Lily. Although I don't think that Sirius will end up being Harry's dad at all. All the books say that he looks exactly like his dad with his mom's eyes. Plus, that just isn't JK's style.

I think that it would be a possibility, but I really don't like the idea. I think that James and Lily were ment for each other.

I dont' think Sirius was ever attracted to Lily at all. I think he was never really on the girl hunt, possibly just thinking that there were better things to do with his time. Whenever Harry talks to Sirius about Lily, Sirius never really has much emotion in his voice(partaining to her). I think he was just proud to support James and Lily.

Hey I'm not really convinced about the ship, haha and still I have a fic that involves Lily and Sirius. It's called Love in a bottle, I have just the first chapter, so if you wanna check it out, and maybe give me some tips about it. Thanks!!

I like this idea, because, although I think Sirius did have a thing for Lily at some point, I don't think he was ever disloyal to his marauder friends. Sirius is the epitamy of loyalty, and that is that.
I think Sirius was probably quite the player in school, because he was so good looking and he was a trouble maker.
I also like the idea that Lily went out with Sirius to make James jealous. However, I would tweak that a little bit to be more like Lily
flirted with Sirius to make James jealous. She was a smart chick, she knew how to play the game

I'll read Sirius/Lily ships occasionally. I lyk reading them, but I don't lyk the couple in the actual series. It just doesn't seem very lykly to me that Sirius would do something lyk date Lily to James. Sirius in my eyes is more of a school player (in the MWPP era), and James is kind of lyk tht, only he wants to settle down with Lily. Does that make sense?

What HPChic says makes sense, i dont think sirius would do that to james ethier but i do think that sirius may have liked lilly before she and james started going out. because they didnt start dating until like their seventh year, so sirius may have liked lilly some time between their first and sixth years.
he migh thave even liked her after they started dating but would never say anything to james.
hey its a posibility

That would work ScarHead101. Sirius could have fancied Lily but never told James because of how much he loved Lily. I mean, I've done the same thing with my friends. If we both fancy the same guy, but I can see that she lyks him more, and the guy lyks her back, then I won't say anything, and I'll support them if my friend asks me if it's ok to date him.
So I see Sirius's side with lyking Lily but not telling James. But I prefer to think of Sirius kinda alone in the Marauder Era bc he so hott, and seems lyk a school player.

i think at one time sirius like her but not for long time b/c he didn't want to go out with his friends love. but never thought lily liked him b/c she didnt like the superstar in him. i always thought of her as a person whos doesnt like boys with big egos.

Good theroy, but dosen't (in the pensive) show that during that time Lily hated James ? So tenically it wasn't the best friends boyfreind. But, other than that, I LUV the theroy

I don't really think much of this relationship.I think Lily and James were meant for each other, and I am much more inclined to beleive Snape had a thing for Lily.I see Sirius as more of a player, and I don't think Sirius would aste his energy on her once it became obvious James was serious about her.

I agree with Keddie I think Siriuis would not be one to want to settle down with one person. I also do not see much evidence for it in any of the books. From what I have read it was strickly admiration for your best friends girlfriend/wife.

I also think, that Sirius was a player, but that doesn't means, that she didn't like Lily a bit more for a while. Maybe not for long, but if there wasn't James, who knows? If he would admire her so obviously as James did, I doubt she would resist, they weren't so unlike...

I have been in this 'best friend's girlfriend' situation.... my best friend ended up going out with my ex-girlfriend while we were still together. I certainly couldn't see James being too chuffed with Sirius, I know I wasn't happy. Perhaps this would lead to a series of duels between the two, maybe they would never speak again but I know the worst of it would be - NO HARRY POTTER!!!

Could be cute. I like Remus better than Sirius though... and I don't like Remus/Tonks.

But ... I like Snape/Lily the most 8D. But if it wouldn't have been James/Lily there would be no Harry. And then there would be no Harry/Hermione.

I have to say, this is one of my favorite ships. I love the idea that although Sirius might have loved Lily, he saw how much James cared for her and he backed off. I also kind of like the idea that while James and Severus were competing for her, Sirius was actually there for her.

I agree completely with Jilly bean. I do think that Sirius loved Lily, or atleast liked her at one point. The book doesn't really show or tell any point at which Sirius was with another girl, so I bet he was holding out for Lily. But Sirius knew how important she was to James so he let them be happy and he never really loved anyone else.
