We know that both the Marauders and Fred, George and Lee Jordan were masters of disaster in their time, but who caused more mischief? who had more nerves to play pranks?
first, the Marauders, I think, had one target for most of the time, the one and only : Snape.
but the weasleys and Lee made each and everyone they don't badly love a target, so very few people were lucky enough to escape their pranks.
Second, we know the Marauders couldn't always get themselves out of problems as the hogwarts punishments papers witness, on the other hand Fred and George usually got away without being punished and thus they may have been better in that.
And third look at their careers, Fred and George: opened the weasley wizard wheezes.
so Fred and George went on with their careers as pranksters, but the Marauders, well:
James: died before he could get a job, although some think he was an auror.(joined the order of the phoenix)
Sirius: went to Azkaban.(joined the order of the phoenix)
Lupin: Hogwarts professor for one year.(joined the order of the phoenix)
Peter: traitor, and currently working as a servant for a hideous punk.(joined the order of the phoenix for a while)
So as we can see, most of the Marauders didn't get proper jobs, as the only one who got a job is working as a servant, but they were , as far as I observe, ambitious to get proper jobs, but two of them died, and Lupin is doing a job for the order, while peter is working as a servant death eater on the other side, therefore none of the had or has a proper job.
On the whole, I think that Fred and George were more succecful in their chaos mission than the Marauders, as they intend to spend the rest of their lives in spreading their inventions all over the world.
There might be more to the Marauders than we know, they might have played more pranks than we know, so what do you think?

I actually agree with you, but for entirely different reasons. We don't know much about what the Marauders did specifically, but we do know that, thanks to Snape's detention, they had a lot of punishments. However, Harry, when he's in Filch's office, sees that an entire file case is dedicated to Fred and George. Therefore I think that they were bigger pranksters. In my opinion the more often you get caught means that you did way more that didn't get caught. But that's just me.

I'm sure there was a thread on this topic, however for the moment I can't find it so the thread will remain open.
However it doesn't fit in the lounge, so I'm going to move it to the poll section where most of the polls belong.

Yay Fred & George

, although we've heard storys about the marauders we never got to see them in action (unlike the twins just look at the stuff they did in OotP & uni-no-poo their openly slaging Voldy

), however you might go as far as to say that the twins are the next age of marauders carrying on this skilled & dignified task of being troublemakers.

How is anyone supposed to know nobody said wat the marauders did!

i'd have to say the fred, george, and lee probably did more damage than the marauders. fred, george, and lee targeted the whole school (who they didn't like) while the marauders only targeted snape for all we've heard and seen

Fred, George, and Lee Jordan. They've caused so much trouble through out the years. And listen to Lee's comentary.

Not to mention the tarentula in book 1 and all the trouble they cause in book 5.
Then again we can't forget Peeves. He caused at least at much trouble and he's been around longer and will be around longer.

Oh god, we havent heard much of the Marauders but from what I have heard it sounds pretty funny, I want to learn more about there troubles definetely, But I put them as a draw!

I would also have to say Fred and George because the pranks that they played were funny and that was their primary objective. It would always be on thier minds. They spent all their free time in Hogwarts making skiving snackboxes and canary creams and they would pranks just about anyone. The Marauders meanwhile mostly picked on Snape. Also Fred and George in my opinion played much better pranks.

Nov 24 2006, 12:55 AM
It wasn't really Lee as much as Fred and George who played the pranks. Lee only messed with the squid, did the commentary, and helped Fred and George a little. But, who made pranks through out their school career, who put the school into total chaos in the fifth book, who flew out of school and started their own shop? Fred and George, not really Lee.
We don't know much about the Marauders. We don't know if they're only target was Snape. They were'nt really pranksters, so much as trouble makers and rule breakers. They made the Marauder's Map, which is one of the coolest magical things in Harry Potter. They also became unknown animagi. They left the campus every night to be with Lupin. They almost kill Snape. They make Snape's life miserable, which isn't really pranking.
So Fred and George are the better pranksters and cause a lot of chaos especially in OotF, but the Marauders cause a lot of chaos too.
I put them as a tie.
As for the jobs:
James was an auror
Sirius could have had a job
Lupin couldn't get a job because he's a werewolf and he taught at Hogwarts
Peter (i hate him) could have had a job and now works for Voldemort
Fred and George made a joke shop (thanks to Harry)
Lee is still at Hogwarts and will probably join Fred and George

we know a bit about the stuff that sirius and james did ( remember when harry had to rerwrite the old files as a punishment)
well fred and george cause a lot of trouble but the marauders went outside with an werewolf...i think thatīs way more dangerous and forbidden than the pranks of the twins.

I chose a draw between both , I think that they all caused a whole lot of chaos in their times, even if we didnt hear about it all in the books xD haha

Fred, George, and Lee Jordan, definitely! The marauders were illegal animaguses, of course, and they got detention often. However, I don't think the marauders had ever set up a portable swamp in the castle! OR started a box of fireworks that stayed for a month! OR flew out of school in the middle of their fifth year on broomsticks that had been chained in the dungeon! Fred and George are my prankster heroes!

i picked the weaslys and lee coz though the marauders caused trouble im sure they never got a chance like the weaslys in ootp to cause havoc, the maruaders never wanted to get rid of a teacher (who the other teachers hated and wanted to leave) badly enough to make their life living hell.

I think Fred, George and Lee Jordan caused more trouble but they got away with it more often than the Marauders...
But that's just me, J.K. didn't really write much about the the marauders doing much mess, except bugging Snape...and other students..but the Weasleys had much more original jokes and ideas...

We have it from Sirius that he and James spent a lot of time in seperate detentions, so I would think that they were more mischevious that Fred, George, and Lee. The other thing is that I don't think that Fred, George, and Lee would ever knowingly sick a werewolf on anyone. That is an aspect of Sirius that is rather dark.

totally a draw between the 2. as much as we know of the twins, we dont really know exactly how much stuff the marauders did. so i'll be safe and say its a draw.

Since we don't know how much damage the Marauders had done, I'm gonna go with Fred, George and Lee. They caused a lot to happen, they created their own stuff and used it with bravado!

Darn it Kelli, that's exactly what i was going to say! Yeah, i went with Fred and George, because we don't know how much damage the marauders made ...
All we know id the whole Snape-upside-down-boxers-or-briefs scenario!

kelli andMoon(I luv you Luna)- you both took the word right out of my mouth (well sort of)though consider the fact that the marauders left fred, george and lee some help!
i mean they left them the map!

definately fred & george, because they managed to even open up a joke shop in book 6, whereas the marauders became order members (minus peter)

Jan 7 2007, 06:47 PM
i give this one to fred george and lee jordan because even though they did get some help form teh marauders, they have created some pretty amazing things on their own, like the joke shop. Over all it seems like they have caused more trouble and their exit from Howart in HBP will be remember for years to come

Feb 10 2007, 02:08 AM
I picked a draw, although I think they have their differences. The Mauraders we can assume (perhaps) were mischievious because of the map, although it appears that their pranks were more cruel spirited and dangerous. Also maybe more directed at certain people, intimidation and trying to impress people. Fred, George and Lee are impartial pranksters: anyone is a target (Neville and the Canary Creams). They are more joksters, most of it is harmless fun that they have already tested on themselves to make sure it is safe for all. They can be more ornery toward hateful people, but tend to be quite passive as far as harmful things go.

i say its a draw....the marauders were classic....but fred, george, and lee jordan all have weasley's wizard wheezes products hidden up their sleeves (and probably in their shoes, too)....
xxj potterxx
Apr 24 2007, 10:11 PM
it's got to be the marauders. i mean we know more of the pranks the weasley's did but we also know the maruaders: illegally became animagus, ran around with a werewolf once a month, knew so many shortcuts they created a map of the school, and tormented Snape. oh yes it is definitely the marauders
Phoenix_1
Apr 25 2007, 12:18 AM
It's very difficult to make up my mind between them, I like them both for different reasons...The Weasley Twins and Lee Jordan are hillarious and the Maurderers were very smart...hmmm....tough decision....

Apr 27 2007, 04:18 PM
well we always heard that the marauders were huge trouble makers, but the olny things that we really heard about were when james aka prongs used levicorpus on snape. and one or two otheres that i cant think of off the top of my head. on the other hand, we heard a ton of fred and georges pranks and stuff : the indoor swamp when they left hogwarts in the fifth book

, dungbombs, etc,etc,etc,etc,etc,etc.. so i dont think there is fair evidence to vote.

Well I said it was a draw because we don't know much of what the mauraders did when they were at Hogwarts and we don't even know that much about what the twins and Lee Jordan either.

How is anyone supposed to know nobody said wat the marauders did!

that is a pretty good point;i suppose

Although, as i honestly said, fleur does have a good point we don't knoow
everything they did but:
i am a firm believer that the marauders did 3 things to desrve the title of
best troublemakers of the series. these are:
1)they made the map!
2)they
illegallybecame animagi
3)they, unlike fred, george, and lee snuck away from the school at night!

Fred, George, and Lee definitely. They for sure cause the most trouble i think. i mean come on, a swamp in the fifth floor corridor, fireworks going off everywhere, blowing up toilet and much more; they're definitely the ones that make the most chaos mayhem and madness. and i love it!!!!!

Fred & George definately. I don't think the Marauders did anything quite like what the twins did to Umbridge or their test subjects for their various concoctions.

Jul 13 2007, 09:27 PM
On one hand the Marauders were sneaky, and porformed most of their mischief under everyones noses. On the other hand, Fred and George learned a lot from the Marauders and were sneaky, but they created a lot of open mischief with their exit from Hogwarts in Ootp. Have you noticed that Fred and George are twins (*well duh!!*) and Sirius and James were said to be like brothers? Makes you think.

I agree (and I only read the last few posts) that Fred and George learned a lot for the Marauders Map "We learned so much" Fred or George said that in PoA. And the Marauders did more pranks (I think) Well you hear a lot of Fred and George and Lee Jordan pulling pranks in OotP, more than any other book. I dunno, I say the Marauders.

I will have to go with Frd George and Lee simply because I know more things that they did than the marauders. Fred and George went out with a huge bang with their frieworks scheme and their swamp. It is really hard to beat that.

Fred and george the trouble they caused in the 5th book was way more then the marauders did plus we no nothing about the marauders except for the fact that they always targeted snape while fred and george targeted everyone they hated and they opened up the shop.
