The big topic is "How will it end?". I don't really know myself, although I would like to know. But also, what would be the BEST ENDING???

I'm thinking something along the lines of...

And Harry and his friends lived happily ever after... The end.

Got any better ideas?

Uhm. Well at the end Harry will destroy Voldemort and all his followers. Harry will get married to Hermione and Ron will go out with somebody and miraceously Dumbledore lives and Sirius comes back from hiding and Harrys Parents are ghosts. Wow, that was lame.

Hate to respond like this, but there's already a million posts about endings, though one that is completely opposite to yours, and I think you should check there. But, I'll contribute nonetheless.

my dream ending would be when we get an epilogue where we read that Harry and Ginny and Ron and Hermione are getting married ( or are already married), or that Harry and Ginny's first child gets its letter to go to Hogwarts or somethinh like that... I really doubt that there will be a "happy ending". voldemort will be killed ofcourse but JKR did say that she will kill off two characters, i think, and one them could be anyone very close to harry and harry himself. so i do not think it will be a real happy ending if those characters are killed.

I agree with The Chosen Captain. As much as I regret it, two characters will die and they will be close to Harry (personally I think one of them will be Ginny but that's off topic). I sincerely hope Harry defeats Voldemort but with Rowling, you never know. I think he will prevail and the ending will probably be bittersweet: sad for Harry because he will most likely lose two people he loves a lot but the overall picture will be happy - Voldemort will be gone forever. Personally, that's how I think it will all end but you never know.

I think that the people that would die are Voldy , Snape and hopefully Harry. I say that because even though this is the greatest series ever I would like it to be finished when the last book is written. What i mean is that no one could rip her off and write about Harrys after life.

harry becomes that one religion where the men have up to 7 wives (morman??) and marrys hermione, ginny, luna, and cho. ( he hasnt found the last 3 yet). he defeats voldemort and ron moves in with him. Snape falls into a volcano and dumbledore lives. Sirius comes out of the veil like superman ( oh yes). harry's parents come back to life becuase voldemort is dead and the only way someone can return from the dead is if the killer dies ( something dumbledore didnt know) and the dursleys fall into a volcano with snape =]

Not sure if it will be happy or not but one thing we know for sure as JKR has said it herself, the last word will be scar.

i think that a really cute/good ending for this book (me ideal one) would be for harry ron hermonie neville and ginny to have gone after voldemort. neville wont really do much though cause he isn't the courageous type. harry and ginny will be in love with each other but trying to hide it. it will finally come out into the open again. (sorta like in the sixth book) but voldy will find out. hell then take (or kill ginny) just to hurt harry/ and then harry will kill voldemort for it. either to save ginny or to get revenge for his parents and ginny, and int he process harry will have to kill himself!

LV and all Death Eaters and Dark Wizards die. Ron and Hermione get married. Harry and Ginny gets married. Sirius comes back to life. Dumbledore comes back to life. Harrys parents are both ghosts and live with him. All house elves are given pay etc.

Whatever, like that would happen! oh, and Hagrid and Maxime get married and have kids with the height of 3m and weight 1000 kg's.

andd. Luna and Neville get married. anddd Fred and Georges' business keeps going.

Well, heres one of those silly endings:

Harry finds out it was all a joke, an evil prak. his couzin and aunt and uncle like him, his parents are alive, the ministry of magic were in on it, the prophet was in on it, sirius and dumbledore rnt dead, he dusnt know magic, it was using lots of techonlogy and basically it was a very believable joke

but what i want:

noone big dies apart from voldemort. harry cums back to gin, they live happliy ever after

Harry kills voldie with a love curse of somesort, after finding all of the horcruxes quite easily(it seems voldie wasnt as smart as we thought ). Then Ron and Hermione, suddenly becoming aware that they are a match made in heaven, get married and have little smarty pants red headed children with brown eyes.

Harry, realizing what an idiot he was to ever let Ginny go, sweeps her off her feet in a loving kiss and they get married as wll and have little raven haired and red headed children with green eyes.

Oh, and in the back of the book, Jo writes...

I really hope there's a happy ending and i my perfect happy ending would be:
Harry kills LV and his followers with the help of Ginny, Ron and Hermione but i hope Neville will kill Bellatrix and get his own back on her. Then i want Ginny and Harry to get together again and i think Hermione and Ron would make a great couple lol. But somehow i don't think JK Rowling would do that because she said she hates happy endings. I think LV will certainly die and i think Malfoy might die for Harry. does anyone agree? If anyone wants to reply please feel free.

I really don't know what the ideal happy ending would be for HP. I suppose I wouldn't be happy if everyone lived, Voldemort died and they lived 'happily ever after' cause it's not believable. And we know there will be deaths, it's expected now. I can accept the deaths, but I can't accept it if one of the trio die, that would make the ending bad for me.
So I guess mine is whatever JK writes, as long as the trio survive. If at the end there's this H/G and R/Hr ending thing happening I'd probably throw up. I really don't believe that's whats going to happen so I'm afraid for me Ginny has to go.

my ending dream for hp is that ginny and harry get together, ron and hermionie get together. i also hope that dumboldor and siris arent actually dead. i also hope tthat siris gets married. theres alot of thing i hope that could happen, but then i would be going on forever (i know some of it sounds chessy) ^_^

Harry gets married to Ginny, and they both live happily ever after and 2 kids and they go to Hogwarts. Harry becomes an auror or Minister of Magic or other and Ginny becomes an auror. Ron and Hermione finally get together and also get married. Hermione becomes a teacher at the School. Ron either becomes an auror or works at the Banks. Ron and Hermione have kids aswell. All of them are friends. The Weasleys live nice long lives.

Its what I would hope for. But, It probably wont happen like that. Hopefully, the trio and Ginny survive. But fellow DA members die.

Harry defeats Voldemort, then goes back in time and rescues baby Tommy Riddle from his bad influences by providing mental warmth and good example. Now, Tom can lead his life as the not-red eyed hottie he was meant to be.

The Death Eaters are all convicted in some sort of Nürnberg Trail.
Harry lives with Ginny happily everafter, but they don´t marry because they find such a bourgeois behaviour repelling. They´ll still have innumerable kids, though.
Hermione leads a task force to bring about rights for house elves, werewolfs and the like.
Ron is her secretary and her love slave. Theses two will also have innumerable kids. (All red heads.)

I was tempted to start a whole new thread, but this one is close enough to what I want to say, so I'll say it here.

I'm going to predict that Harry somehow lives at the end. I'm not going to speculate how it will unfold here, but instead, try to put myself into JKR's shoes.

I'm a father, and have read all six books to my eight year old son, and my nearly four year old daughter just asked me to start reading Harry Potter books to her, too (so we're starting with book one). I know a lot of parents have done the same thing, and I have to imagine that maybe even Jo is reading these books to her kids (or will, one day). Can you possibly imagine Jo killing off Harry in the end of book seven and then turn around and read that ending to her kids? I can't.

Next reason, I think that Warner Brothers would just die if Harry buys it. Are you going to want to see the Deathly Hallows in the movie theater if Harry Potter is shown dead at the end? I can't imagine wanting to see that.

We all know that everyone will die someday, so even those who hope for Harry to be reunited with his folks, Sirius and Dumbledore will get their wish one day. So what's the point in making that day just when Harry's life is starting to take off?

i think potter will die, just cuz LV is awesome and potter probably wont even be able to attempt the simplest of spells in LV's presence.

Neville gets a girlfriend. Hermione/Ron marry each other, as do Harry/Ginny. . .only the bad people die. Hagrid and Madam Maxime get together and he has a few kids, haha. And um, Bellatrix dies a slow, horrible, painful death. As does Draco/Lucius. Heck, lets just kill the whole Malfoy family as well.

Okay, Harry blows up LV and then takes all of his friends and stuff up to the common room and they p-a-r-t-y! Including Snape because he is GOOD. Every single death eater (and i'm sorry to say Draco) get tied up in that graveyard (from GoF) and then they rot to death. That's pretty much it. Oh and the ultimate real life ending would be JK making 10 000 000 more HP epilogues and stuff.

I think that I, along with everyone else, is hoping for a happy ending. Possibly even with OBHWF. However I dont believe Rowling will let us off that easy and I have the feeling that somehow harry will end up taking voldemort with him and harry will die moving on to the next great adventure possibly with his parents and or sirius/dumbledore at best, or at worst be reincarnated into a creature who becomes a pet for one of his friends. Its a wierd idea I know, but I think we can all agree that Rowling has done a wonderful job of suprising us thus far and that we can gurantee that she will do it again in the last book.

I say that we shoudn't assume that its going to end happily, because I have this theory that Harry is a horcrux and that he is going to have to die for voldemort to die, and to end voldemorts rule.

I know it sounds bad, and I don't personally want this to happen, but I think that Jo wil lhave to kill Harry to prevent any other person from continuing her books......

I want to think that she'll find another way to do it, but I can only think of Harry's death.

JKR said in an interview that the book, depending on edits, would end with the world "scar." I have to endings. 1 with harry dead and the other with him alive.

1.Hermione leaved over Harry's coffin, and kissed his scar.

2. "Hey its gone!" Harry blurted.

"What?" Ron and Hermione said.

"My scar!"

I also want to say that if Harry dies he would either kill Voldemort my nonmagical means,(running with him off a cliff, break his neck and he shoots Avada K.) or he would be a horcrux himself and would then have to order someone to kill him after he kills voldemort or the other way around and someone else kill voldy. Also I would like to point out. HORCRUX SPELLS DON'T INVOLVE GREEN LIGHT!! and it wouldn't have bounced off and nearly killed voldy. its hard to imagine a dream ending when we know there will be a fair few deaths so i suppose the best ending i could hope for would be ; snape is good and DD death was planned, snape helps harry and harry dies killing LV in battle i.e. they both go through the veil. so harry goes down saving the wizarding world, and can finally rest in peace with all his family!
more death eaters die than order members, hopefully lupin survives! lucius malfoy and bellatrix are both killed neville gets with luna and ron and hermione finally get together! ginny is all alone HA! lol jokes she'll find someone. percy is killed but none of the other weasleys! (unlikely )

ok, the whole trio live,. Harry finds all the horcruxes and defeats Voldemort, Dumbledore comes back to life, Lily and James come back to life, Pettigrew dies, Snape turns out to be good, but he dissappears never to be seen or heard from again (because i still don't like him), Lupin and Tonks get married, Hermione finds out theat the reason House elves don't want to be free is becaise they've all been put under a charm, and Harmione finds a countercharm and frees them all, Neville becomes herbology teacher, and JKR's last sentece in the book is "Get ready for the surprise eighth book coming out soon! Keep following the adventures of harry and his scar!!"

I had a dream last night that the book was already out and that I was reading it. At one time, the last word was something like "scar," is that still true? In my dream, I don't remember what it was, but it wasn't scar. Dang it I can't remember... I wish I could cuz that was pretty fun. =D

ok wow so i realllly dont think the ending is going to be as happy as what some of you people have said.... frankly i am refusing to think so happy since JK is going to kill off 2 main characters anyways and knowing JK it probably isnt going to be a happy ending with the trio plus ginny living and its just plain silly to think so. it pains me to say so, but i think harry is going to have to kill himself to kill Voldemort because harry is a horcrux. and then one of the other is going to die.. im not sure which but either way i am prolly going to ball my eyes out if someone dies but it would totally ruin it if everyone lives. and i hate to say it but NOBODY IS COMING BACK TO LIFE! oh and the last sentence is going to be "As Ginny looked down into the coffin, into Harry's face for the last time, she slowly brought her hand up and traced his scar." kinda silly but oh well... all this talk about dying is making me sad tho!
