Oh, SpinJam...

Yes, I'm inclined to agree with you on that one. JKR would just be like shocking.gif if she saw what we think about SS/HG. Well,ya know what? That is what is so wonderful about fan fiction. It can be whatever we want!

I think that if Jo sat down and listened to our reasons for why they belong together, she couldn't help but agree with them. She may not ever agree with the idea of their being in a relationship, but the potential is undeniable.

Anyone else agree huh.gif ?

Oh, and I have a question for all:

What song reminds you of Severus Snape?

My answer is "Amazing" by Aerosmith. The words are just so right for him. I'll summarize:

I kept the right ones out (Lily Potter)
And let the wrong ones in (Death Eaters/Voldemort)
Had an angel of mercy
To see me through all my sins (Dumbledore)
There were times in my life
When I was goin' insane

Tryin' to walk through the pain (When the Potters were killed)

And when I lost my grip
And I hit the floor
Yeah, I tought I could leave
But couldn't get out the door
I was so sick n' tired
Of livin' a lie
I was wishing that I would die
(Again, when the Potters died)

(Chorus)
It's amazing
With the blink of an eye
You finally see the light
(When Dumbledore accepts him into the order)
It's amazing
That when the moment arrives
You know you'll be alright
It's amazing
And I'm saying a prayer
To the desperate hearts tonight
(His own heart)

That one last shot's a Permanent Vacation
And a how high can you fly with broken wings
Life's a journey - not a destination
And I just can't tell just what tomorrow brings
(Obvious, I believe)

You have to learn to crawl
Before you learn to walk
But I just couldn't listen
To all that righteous talk
(Voldemort's plan)
I was out on the street
Just tryin' to survive
Scratchin' to stay alive
(When he was desolate after Lily died)

Awesome song for him, right? Ah woot.gif ! I love it wub.gif !
witchmom
Hi Emily...
We have already talked about songs a few messages earlier, during the Snapeweek...there's a whole bunch of posts full of texts...I am going to make a Snape Compilation with all your suggestions and put the song lists on the site and here, too...thanks for your addition.

These days there's a weird atmosphere in all the Severus lists around the world. It's like people are holding breath, waiting for the next JKR's announcement or interview that would give a hint on the 7th book events. This book means the end, we know. But I don't really think it's a real end. I mean, I've read too many fanfics about dead characters to feel bad about a supposed bad end for Severus. Maybe I already said it, but this is what I feel...

I am working closely with the Italian Severus list/site and I did the Italian/English translations for a questionnaire they have published recently (thanks to Elaine and Albus for reviewing!!!!). It's a long, long questionnaire, that in 2 weeks has already collected 6000 answers.
They're going to publish it in English next week. I'll give you the link, so if you want to participate, it will be fun.
A consistent part of the questions regards Severus of course.

I don't think Snape hates Harry. Severus hasn't so much patience with kids, first of all, and Harry is pretty annoying from a teacher's point of view. He doesn't respect the rules and blah blah blah. In addition to this attitude, there's his being James' son. Although very immature, Snape's behavior is not so different from the one of a million other professors in the world. He's not a perfect person, we know. Teaching wasn't his choice. he had to do it to survive. I KNOW how frustrating it can be to do a job you don't like so much...while you dream to do something else. But where else could he go?
snaperules
Hello, all of you SS/HG 'ship lovers must not be RW haters.I mean it is clear Snape can't stand her because he finds her as a know-it-all.And I am new here so be nice to me happy.gif biggrin.gif !!
Sabrina_Rose_Snape
I'm sure everyone will be nice to you, snaperules, well I know I will. I have to say a totally agree to what you are saying about Snape and Hermione, I personally don't think it could ever happen and hopefully never will. But obviously the people who believe in the Snape and Hermione ship they are in titled to their own opinion, I'm not one to have a go at another for what they believe but merely state my opinion to them.

Oh by the way snaperules love your name biggrin.gif
snaperules
Thanks,I feel the same. dry.gif tongue.gif biggrin.gif smile.gif

MOD EDIT: Welcome to Veritaserum! A Head Auror will be sending you an Owl shortly in regards to this post. You can check your Owls by clicking on the link at the top right of the page that says # Owls Waiting. Thanks!
witchmom
I don't think anyone of us is a RW hater. I mean, we have our likes and dislikes, but that's all...we won't bash any character here...only a constructive critical approach!! wink.gif

I agree on the SS/HG ship. Maybe because I am Severus' age and I couldn't see myself with such a young person beside me...but it's just my opinion. I would see him with a stronger, older woman...like me, maybe... wub.gif

A little treat, ladies.....

EDIT: WELCOME, SNAPERULES!!
EliasOsiris
For some reason, I just can't see the SS/HG 'ship. Nope, just not no way. He's what, twenty years older than she is? Plus her somewhat abrasive, in-your-face personality? Mondo yuck. And I'm not so sure that he finds her all that intelligent. In HBP his response to her answer, 'What is the advantage of a nonverbal spell? 'was quite dismissive, as if beneath his attention. For some reason, the thought of them picking out china patterns, or curtains, is just, well unimaginable. Even a date, where would they go, what would they do? I have this image of them traipsing through the woods looking for potion ingredients. Hermione explaining in excruciating detail the use of every plant they come across and poor Severus wondering if he left the water running before they left. Would he kiss her just to stop her from talking?
LilyPotter
Louise-

Oh... my... Merlin...

Where is that, where can I get it, and how much is it? I love it! I have to have it...

snaperules- All of us oldies on here are pretty friendly. I don't think that you will encounter anyone being too nasty around the forums. About Snape/Hermione...

Well, it's best just not to get me started. I have a long, detailed explaination on the ss/hg SHIP thread that explains, in my opinion, why Snape and Hermione are meant for each other. If you are interested (or even just curious to see what I could possibly have to say in defense of the topic), you can find my post here.

I try not to push my opinion on them on anyone *cough* imlying *cough*, but, as you said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Also, by no means do I hate Ron Weasley. He's adorable! I just feel that he and Hermione are just not right for each other at all. My reasons for this are also stated in the post I linked to above.

Well, on behalf of soss, welcome to the forums, and I hope you stop by once in a while to chat about our beloved Snape! I'm sure he would be pleased cool.gif .

P.S. Hey, everyone- would someone add to my last post in our joint Snape fic thread pleaaasssseee. *begs*
I am dying to add on to whatever someone writes... biggrin.gif

One more add-on, real quick, as this was posted exactly when I was posting mine...

That is exactly what I picture their relationship to be like! Except, I think of it as a good thing... and mighty cute, at that.

Couldn't you just picture it... two Snarky Know-It-Alls, reading books in their library, only interrupting each other's reading to comment loudly about what a "dunderhead" or "dingbat" the writer is because his theories so don't go with anything else they have read?

I love them together. *happy sigh* wub.gif

witchmom
I don't want to start a debate, also because Emily is one of my friends heart.gif hug.gif and I still firmly think that everyone has the right to express their ideas.
But there was something that disturbed me, like the pea under the mattresses...
You know, Emily, I thought about it for a while and I realized what really disturbs me in the SS/HG ship: the pictures of the real actors playing them. Because, deviantart for example provides wonderful drawings of the ship and they don't make me feel so "against" the ship. Maybe it's the ideas associations between the 60-year-old Rickman and the 16-year-old Watson...yuck.

Actually, Snape must be exactly 20 years older than Hermione. It's a big age difference, of course, although in the wizarding world people live much longer (if not killed early by some spell... dry.gif ) than muggles. I would simply pray that poor Hermione has a couple of long-term relationships before getting trapped by Snape laugh.gif .

I can easily imagine them together, but not with the actors' faces. I have friends who were mothers in their twenties. My mom had me at 19. The recent trend of having babies just after graduations, Uni degrees, job finding etc. could not apply for the wizarding world... So she wouldn't be too young at, say, 25, with a husband of 45 (who, thanks to the fanfic writers, looks like a 30-year-old guy) wink.gif .

Have a fantastic day
LilyPotter
Awe, I would never start an argument with my good friend Clara wub.gif . I totally agree with you, babe. Alan Rickman and Emma Watson = not cool. However, seeing as those are the real life actors that we have been given to portray these two fictional characters, it is all we have to work with. I have tried to take some pictures of a younger Alan Rickman and work them in, but, to tell the truth, there simply aren't that many of him.

I love this ship, and will never be persuaded otherwise, but I respect everyone else's opinion at the same time. If you will allow me to speak my piece to you, I will listen to yours. Perhaps you will be persuaded woot.gif , and perhaps we will agree to disagree lac.gif .

Either way, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I am more than open to hearing all of them.

I think we can all agree on one thing, though...

Snape is wonderfu wub.gif !

S.O.S.S. BULLETIN 6/2007

Hello!!!
RICKMANIA WEEK IS HERE
!!!
We won't publish a program this time. Everyday will be a surprise, every single day until Alan's birthday on feb.21st.

Now, for you all the first game:

1 - FIND THE WEIRDEST INFORMATION ABOUT ALAN RICKMAN AND POST IT HERE!!

Everything will be accepted: from his private life to his public appearances, the weirdest are the news, the more we'll like them! Turn into a spy, a paparazzo, whatever you want but provide us juicy details about Alan!!!

- I wanted to tell you ladies that the Sotterraneo questionnaire about HP7 is online. It's pretty long but I guarantee you'll have fun. You can find it here. Thanks for your participation!! we are spreading the news in the international HP community.

I won't ask you any question about Snape this week, being busy with the Rickmania, but feel free to discuss him as usual.

xoxo

Clara )O(
LilyPotter
Oooh! Oooh! Me first!

Ladies especially, this one is particularly interesting for us (and our hopeless addiction to this man's intoxicating voice):

A speech defect and an unusual tightness of his jaw have been credited with giving him his unique voice and line delivery.

The above information was obtained through wikepedia, references cited.

How nuts is that? A speech impediment is responsible for the sexiest voice on the planet!

Turn to page three hundred and ninety four... ah! I love it!

Clara, I have a quick idea for this week's events... I'll message you in a sec wink.gif .
etphonehome
I have found some funny things that he has done and said. I can imagine this happening though:-

Alan failed his California driving test at one point for "driving too cautiously through a green light".

and thank heavens for this....

Alan was given the role of Professor Severus Snape in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) only after Tim Roth backed out.

otherwise none of us would be here!!
passerby
Aw, Elaine! You stole mine about the green light! I always find that one too humorous!

Okay, so this one's from the Alan Rickman fansite: Alan is flat-footed. Why we care, I just don't know.

Uh. . . in school, Alan was also interested in pursuing a career in Graphic Design. When he graduated, he and some friends formed a design company called Graphiti(Another biography on the web) He was good at calligraphy and watercolor.

He's played in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and "Guys and Dolls" when he was getting started. Can't wait to hear him sing!

That's all I have time for at the moment, anyways. Fun times!
Padfoot08
Hello everybody!!!
Rickmania week!!!!!!!! wub.gif
I will be pming witchmom witchmom right now to get the whole week planned out.
School has been so busy! Then come home and chores and extra activities and...*long sigh* Must make time for Alan.
Fun Fact:
Alan loves roller coasters almost (maybe more) than acting.
"And thrills make him happy. Roller coaster rides, to be specific. 'Everything falls away.'
The best? Colussus at Magic Mountain in valencia, Calif., north of Los Angeles."

witchmom
According to Emma Thompson's diaries about the making of S&S, Alan " has clepped himself Colonel Weathercover (‘weathercover’ means interior scenes that are slated to be shot if the weather is not right for the scheduled exterior scenes)".

LOL.

Oh, yay! Quizzes! Time to embarrass myself!

Which Character? I got: Alan Rickman himself, you deserve no other man! (Why is that an answer for a character quiz, anyways?!)

How well do you know AR? (What's with that "what role does Alan tend to get with other female actors? question? Didn't he do all of those?!) I got:
YOU'RE A HUGE ALAN RICKMAN FAN! ALAN FRIGGIN' ROCKS! ROCK ON!

And compatibility. I got: You and Alan would make a perfect match! Both of you have identical habits and moods! Secretive and silent, solicitude is an ideal friend! (Oh, won't my husband be thrilled!?)

Yay, Rickmania Week! Unfortunately, I don't know much about him at all:

Quiz 1: I need to learn more about him.

Quiz 2: It's undecided on whether we match.

Quiz 3: I'm Snapey!

Needless to say, you lot know a heck of a lot more about him than I do. Wow, that fact about his voice...that's so interesting!!! I love weird facts like those. Maybe I can find one...

Hey! My favoutite magazine, Empire:

"Alan was chosen by Empire magazine as one of the 100 Sexiest Stars in film history"
You probably all know this already...take a wild guess where i got thos one from!!! (Hint, the website starts with a 'V' and end in an 'M'. laugh.gif )

...

Well, I thought that was interesting.

Rickmania week: Sunday's activity!

Questions
The host gives the players a topic. The players then can ask the other players questions only. A non-question gets you buzzed out. The idea is to see how crazy it can get.
Example- Who is Alan Rickman? I'sn't he that guy? What guy?....

They don't have to be about Alan, but make sure that they try to follow the first question. smile.gif Hope you all have fun!

So...first question, of course, is....Who is Alan Rickman? tongue.gif
LilyPotter
I don't think I get it... but I'll try anyways.

What guy?
passerby
This is a mod note: this game may not be suitable for this thread because it seems like it will generate one-liners. (not to pick on Emily, but the first post after the game began is too short.) Unless there is more description, or whatever, to this game. . .you might have to think of another activity. Sorry. I don't want to burst the bubble on Rickmania, but everything still must comply with the rules of VTM.

Thanks.

shy.gif Yes. I thought about that after I posted it. Sorry. sad.gif Alright, then have to think of something that won't be one line. ....How about... (Hope it's an ok idea)

Poems- Write a poem about Alan or one of Alan's characters.

I see you standing over there
With your gold blonde hair
Your skin is smooth and fair
I bet we would make a perfect pair. laugh.gif

It's stupid and weird, but it's the best I had. wink.gif

Sorry ladies, I've been a bit sick this weekend, so I haven't been here...sorry Mods.
Anyway, Padfoot08, you're doing a wonderful work and all the credits go to you, sweetie. Thank you so much!

Here's my own contribution to the activities:

Quizzes
How well do you know AR?
"YOU'RE A HUGE ALAN RICKMAN FAN! ALAN FRIGGIN' ROCKS! ROCK ON!"

Compatibility?
"You and Alan would make a perfect match! Both of you have identical habits and moods! Secretive and silent, solicitude is an ideal friend!"

Which AR character are you?
"Alan Rickman himself, you deserve no other man!"

Then, let's go with the poem!!! I remember the super funny poetry contest last summer... laugh.gif laugh.gif Don't kill me, girls. It's just a game.

FOR ALAN

If only you were twenty years younger
I would have loved you to death

You're such a good, bright man
and I love you as much as I can

For Obadiah is my hunger
and for Metatron I hold my breath

But not Severus, he's not your kind,
except for the nose, the voice and the mind.

anna fiore
Hi, everyone!

This is my poem for Alan

Colonel Brandon is very Romantic
Marvin (the depressed robot) is Frantic

Snape is my love
With a million of stars above

I’m not able to write poems in Italian, in English that cr** is the better I could do (can you imagine the worse one?). Snape, Snape, look what I make for you!!

These are my test results:
Test1 YOU'RE A HUGE ALAN RICKMAN FAN! ALAN FRIGGIN' ROCKS! ROCK ON!

Thank you, Rickman fan: I read your weirdest information about Alan Rickman and this was the result.

Test2: First result
You + Alan = DISASTER! You are much too wild and rowdy to date this secluded guy. While you are out chilling with your friends and going to parties, he is at home reading a book and feeding the cat.

I was very surprising: I am a ‘home-sweet-home’ kind (Clara knows me)

So I remade the test and changed 1 (I swear 1, only one) answer and the second result was:
You and Alan would make a perfect match! Both of you have identical habits and moods! Secretive and silent, solicitude is an ideal friend!

Test3
You are Professor Severus Snape from the Harry Potter movies

Our dear professor is a little snarky and he is better than Marvin the robot. And I love him (Snape not Marvin).

On the SS/HG ship. I according with you Lily Potter, they have very much in common, and I agree Ron and Hermione are very different but love isn’t logical.
Like Clara, I prefer Snape would chose and older woman (like me).
I think Snape match better Hermione than Bellatrix, but I thought a sex ship (not a romance) between them.

Passerby
Oh, see I absolutely love the Lockhart character! I love the idea that appearances are so deceptive! Here we have Gilderoy Lockhart, who is beautiful, admired, apparently gifted. But underneat his gilded image (I just love her names!), he's a dark person.
And here we have Snape who we think is horrid and bad because of his nature; and he's proven himself far more helpful and true than Gilderoy Lockhart on a number of occasions. (Once we get past this whole killing dumbleodre thing, anyways. . .) His character, Lockhart's, isn't desireable at all, but he's a great character nonetheless!

I totally agree with you, Passerby. Is this a clue that Snape is really good?
In Book1 Quirrel, in book2 Lockhart, in book4 the fake-Moody Harry (and we) thinks they are good and Snape is bad … but the appearances are so deceptive.
I always have thought there was some JKR trick in book6 end. It is so out of character!

Baz
No, I believe that he hates him. A friend was just reading this with me (she happens to be an ardent Snape fan) said that the reason why Snape lets Harry live is because he has ethics. Snape's a...er, well, he's a...not a very nice person, but he's not evil.

I agree with you near completely, Baz. I think Snape isn’t able to hate someone deeply, I think he despites Harry and, like your friend Snape isn’t evil, he is a good person with a bad temper.
snaperules
All I know about AR is he played Snape and is a great actor biggrin.gif! O.K.

1.I need to learn more.

2.I am thinking as him as Snape so we aren't alike sad.gif

3.Snape of course wub.gif

I wasn't too happy about that, but it is the truth.
anna fiore
Dear snaperules

we had a Snapeweek in January (Snape's birthday is on 9th January), but you wasn't with us. I hope next year we will celebrete the hero of book7: Severus Snape

Goognight!

Oh, I forgot: 151 days to book7
LilyPotter
but... and Janet... and line... 2 lines... technically...

*sigh* ok, defeated. I'm sorry. No more one (or short 2) liners. I didn't even think about it. You're right, though. It was too much of a spur for one-liners. I like the poem thing.

I'm at work trying to shop simultaneously for 2 baby showers I have this month, so I don't really have time to write another poem just for Alan now, but I have a cute one about Severus and Hermione that I wrote for the grangersnape100 "Snape Has It All Challenge" contest that I can post. Sorry, it doesn't even rhyme. I'm not much of a poetry buff... I try to stick to fan fiction. Here goes:

He was green.
She was red.

He was snarky.
She was a know-it-all.

He pushed her buttons.
She undid his.

He used far too much hair product.
She didn’t use nearly enough.

She rallied for the elves.
He had them clean his cauldrons after potions experiments.

She was Hermione Granger, war hero.
He was Severus Snape, traitor-to-the-light.

Their relationship was impossible.
Their love was inescapable.

He vowed to love and cherish.
She proclaimed “honor” and “obey” were not in her vocabulary.

They lived out their days in each other’s arms, and in the end, left this world together… as one.

Well, there you go. Told you I wasn't a poetry buff tongue.gif .
baz
Oh no, a poem:

Alan,
Bribe JKR to let Snape live,
Or buy her a drink like David Thewlis did,
Alan.

I can't write a opem without taking the mickey out of myself, sorry.
passerby
Poetry! YAY! This one is going to be incredibly off the cuff, so bear with me.

To Alan, whose birthday we soon celebrate,
You are the guy who SOSS members would most like to date!

A man of great talent,
Who's true to his art.
Be it Colonel Brandon so gallant,
Or the Sheriff, cutting out a heart.

To Alan, whose eyes are quite intense
You are an actor most true to your timing and sense.

His broad scope of work has shown us no fear,
From the stage to the screen,
For Mesmer we sit through just to be near,
And laugh as Severus steals every scene!

To Alan, who's faithful and true to his work,
We forgive panda hair and your roller coaster quirk.

Thank you for bringing us characters most beguiling;
They pull at our heartstrings, our senses, our morals.
Whether it's Slope or it's Hans that keeps us all smiling,
We hope on this birthday you can rest on your laurels!

How that turned into a birthday poem, I don't know. . .but I must be stuck in a VTM birthday poem rut! Ah well.

Well I did say I'll try a poem today. . .biggrin.gif
QUOTE
Poems- Write a poem about Alan or one of Alan's characters.

Okay, well I can't do one for Alan himself so I'll do one of his characters and who better then to pick then Snape biggrin.gif And I'll remind you all that I'm no good with poems but I'm going to try laugh.gif It is going to be a poem from Miranda’s sprit point of view. . .oh wait you guys don’t know who Miranda is laugh.gif

In the dark of your dungeon you hide,
Your potions are brewing and bubbling,
You continue to conceal yourself from the world outside,
And truly it is the Dark Arts that you are longing.

With those dark troubled eyes and your slippery black hair,
With your saddened thoughts and the black robes you wear,
I still love thee more then thee can bare.
But I have gone,
And it’s time for you to move on.

Now listen my dear,
Although I’m not here,
You can help more then you know,
Because my dear Severus. . .

Do you not realize that they need you?
And in the end it’s you that they will turn to.

That's the best I can do biggrin.gif laugh.gif

The day will be full of games and cheers and toasts!! Stay with us today!!!

- ONE, let's write the best HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARD to Alan.

- TWO, here's the game.
Below, you'll find the list (it's not complete of course, since many of his characters appeared only on TV and are pretty unknown to those who live outside of UK) of the major characters he played until today. That's all ladies, have fun!!!

1) OBADIAH SLOPE:
It's the Alan character I love best. I love his slender, slytherin-ish appearance, his subtle wit, his cold looks and the adorable pouting.... His voice is deep as usual, but maybe a little less deep than the one we know. I definitely think that this character has opened him the way to the wonderful "villain series" he has played. I've read that women went crazy for this reverend, a true politician, so subtly kind and smooth, but also cold and sharp as a knife.
RATE: 9/10

I missed the alphabet. . .drat. I'll probably do it anyway later! I'm traveling this afternoon, so if I have some time at my arrival (prior to the concert. . . YAY), I'll be creative then.

1. I have a question for the Birthday Card. Are you going to compile everyone's messages and actually send it to him? That'd be kind of fun. I'll reserve my insanity until I know what's going on with it.

2. Hans Gruber in Die Hard (1988) - This was his breakout film role, really. Who was Alan Rickman? Most of the world didn't know until this film And then his dry wit, his cold, heartless method, and his perfectly delivered performance really creeped a lot of people out! He had a villianified draw to him, and he can't help but steal the scenes he's in. Bruce, who? Yippee kay a, what? This really proved his mettle as strong cinematic performer. I rate him 10/10 in this film.

Next up is: Ed in January Man (1989), which I've never seen.

3. I have no pictures that I haven't already shared. tongue.gif Oh well.

Wow new here! Nice thread witchmom (my fellow semi-Greek friend! happy.gif ).

Oh well..I have never seen January man but i will give it a try.

Ed in January Man (1989):
A rather weird movie that received controversial comments. Most of the critics seemed to point out the fact that the movie tried to be romantic, cynical, violent and may other things all at once. Probably one of the least famous movies Alan Rickman has ever played at. (It was released the year i was born, i really have to watch it!). This however didn't affect his career. I can't rate it but i would give him a 7,5/10. I don't think he makes a big appearance at it... wacko.gif
The next movie is Elliott Marston, Owner Marston Waters Ranch in Quigley Down Under (1990).

Pictures ha? I have to take a look at it. I will return with more on Alan Rickman!
Padfoot08
Happy Birthday Alan!!!
Love you!! WooT! wub.gif Hope you had a wonderful day!!
*sings* happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you...

*pouts* Ed has already been done. sad.gif He's one of my favorite characters.
Ok, well, I'll get over it.; but I have to say that the comments alkisti made are true. it was a rather weird movie, it didn't have much flow to it. However, I loved the character of Ed because I think that Alan kind of related to him. They are both artists and Alan even painted some of the artwork that is featured in the film.

Alright, Elliott...hmmm...QDU was also a bit of a weird film for Alan to do. Honestly, personally I would not think that AR would really want to do a western like film, but he acted quite well in it. My favorite line is from Elliott, when he says to Matthew (Tom Selleck), "I was born on the wrong continent." It is a modernized western film.
This movie does rather grow on you, if your not a western fan. With great costumes and scenery, it makes for a great watch. I rate Alan's performance and 8. ps~ Great death scene!
Next up: Interrogator in Closet Land (1991) Have only seen clips of this movie. It looks really good though. Really weird, but good.

S.O.S.S. BULLETIN 7/2007

Hi ladies, the Rickmania week is officially over, but this doesn't mean we can't keep it going for a while!!! wink.gif so feel free to post your Birthday wishes (Janet, I don't think we can mail them to Mr Rickman NOW...let's say, next year we will think about it a little time BEFORE his bday... smile.gif ) and go on with the games. The last one is blocked on the Interrogator. C'mon, ladies, nobody saw Closet Land?

A HUGE thank you goes to Misty, aka Padfoot08, for her extraordinaire commitment for this Week.

I have great news about Severus, so please fasten your seatbelts... laugh.gif laugh.gif

- The first close-up photo of young Severus here

- The bookmarks that Borders are giving away with the bookings of HP7.

Comments would be VERY appreciated...I waited the end of the Rickmania to share the news but I've been really excited!!!

A last note about Snapeweek Fanfic Challenge. Our Fanfic Coordinator Emily (LilyPotter) is back and active!! there are some new rules in the Feedback Thread, so please read them before participating. Today, finally, I'll have some time to write the plot line of the chapters already posted. I'll post it directly into the story to help people write the following chapters.

MOD EDIT: graphic information below highlight at your own discretionI saw ‘Closetland’ and I wish I didn’t. It was like food poisoning for the brain. Approach with caution. My AR fan-man left the room and refused to watch. AR plays ‘the interrogator’ who is a child-molester and enjoys his job as torturer for the authorities. Best scene? He smoked a cigarette nicely but then he tried to stab the burning end into the writer’s eye. Now that was scary and well played. Worst scene? Convincing the blindfolded woman that he was several people with one suffering a hot poker up his behind while crawling about the floor next to a sizzling grill. I was laughing instead of… well, I’m sure giggling fits wasn’t it. I blame the director! I blame the script! I blame the artsy set, which was interesting but in no way realistic and the music was just painful. The lighting was excellent, I do remember that. What more can I say expect feel fortunate if you never see ‘Closetland’. woof

Hurrah for the new pic of young Severus! Now that’s some greasy hair action. I’ll be leaning forward in my seat the moment we get to hear his voice.

Those bookmarks at Borders are light-weight paper printed on both sides with the “Friend or Foe”. There’s a huge display in the stores with a picture of the snarling Snape from the HBP book with those markers hanging from it. I snagged a few and you don’t need a reservation to get one. Actually it’s cool to see that Snape is being used to sell the next book! I bet he'll be featured on the cover art.

I did want to ask a AR related question before this Rickmanweek ends~

What would you say to Alan if you met him?

Hi There Vortex...As you may notice I made your review the same colour as the boards and put a note to highlight..as this is a site that has children coming to it we ask that things be kept to a PG rating and I think this is a bit to graphic for the site..please refrain from posting details like that in the future...on the main boards
Thanks

just a quick note...

that picture... its good to see who is playing young severus, but i think i have very high expectations... I really don't want the young Severus to e a dissappointmaent, and that picture just doesn't...jump out at me the way pictures of AR do...
Yes, I know it is a hard person to compete with...but i want the whole of severus to be...perfect...imperfectly perfect...
maybe i'm just being a bit pedantic..

agg...I would do a review.. but i regret t say that i haven't actually seen Truely Madly Deeply (i think that's the next one...) in about seven years... and I can't remeber a thing...
Oh dear, i really haven't taken much part in Rickmania...

Hello friends, just a short note to remind you not to forget rating the character. Thanks!!! smile.gif

Jamie in TMD

You know, that's the moment of truth. I hated Truly madly deeply. *ducks to avoid flying shoes, stones, cups..*. I'm not romantic in the canon way. I hate too much suffering in a movie. I thought that, although the man was interesting, he had that brush under his nose, which reminded me constantly of my uncle. Furthermore, his partner wasn't my favorite actress. His attitude was irritatingly bold and far too self-confident (as far as I remember), and I couldn't really enjoy the movie...I remember thinking "Why is he haunting that poor girl who can build another relationship?". I know, maybe it was because I had just broken with my fiancč...and I was quite cynical laugh.gif
Anyway, I would rate him 7/10 in this movie. *ducks for the last time before hiding behind her desk*

I would recommend a new Alan site by my friend Cassie. She's sooooo smart and creative...and it looks like her site is going to be one of the best archives ever about our Alan. Although the site is in Italian, I think that its excellent quality of information and archive will be helpful for any Alan fan.
Visit it if you've got a minute and let me know.

Oh THANK MERLIN!

I remember coming in to this thread before it was revised... maybe a little over a year ago... and saying the exact same thing. Yeah... didn't make that mistake again!

I got so many replies from people saying that I was crazy, and TMD was the greatest movie ever made and blah blah.

Don't worry, Clara, I'm with you on that one. I am not a fan of TMD either. It's just way too sad and romantic. I prefer "Evil Villain" Alan. *swoons*

The new picture of Young Snape...

You know, as much as I like to romanticize Snape, I like to romanticize him as an adult, because of his suffering as a child. In light of that, I think the character is excellent!

I think we will all love him if we think of it this way:

Snape had a rough time at school because he had no social skills and a very rough childhood. He was not good looking in school, and was exiled even more because of that fact. If it weren't for all this, he wouldn't be the mysterious sex god that he is today.

*snrkle*

Vortext- That movie sounds significantly disturbing... and, yet... after you've given that review, I can't help my curiosity. I've just placed it on my Netflix list. I have a feeling you're going to be saying "told you so" in a couple of days.

Now, the big question:

What would you say to Alan if you met him?

Oh... oh, man... Ok, breathe Emily...

I would say, "I'm yours. Let me be your love slave."

laugh.gif

No, seriously. I would totally say that. And, if that didn't work, I would tackle him... seriously.
Padfoot08
What would you say to Alan if you met him?
I wouldn't say anything. I would die. Then melt into a puddle. They would have to wash me off of the sidewalk, because I had melted from his hot, sexiness. tongue.gif Seriously, I would say something like, "Hello Mr. Rickman. May I have your autograph?" Then when he said ok, I would pull out a DVD and ask him to sign the front cover with a permanent pen. But I would drop the pen "by accident" just so that I could see him bend down. laugh.gif

I believe that the next charcter is the Sheriff of Nottingham.
The Sheriff is the most hated character in the story of Robin Hood, obviously. Robin steals from the rich and gives to the poor, but the Sheriff steals from the rich and gives to himself. Alan's performance of the charcter as rather different than any performance then and since. He brought a sort of comedy to the Sheriff. I thought that he acted rather well. Especially, since I've heard that Kevin Costner is a very dificult person to work with (aka. He cut most of Alan's scenes, because he can't stand somebnody that is a better actor than him.*cough*) Anyway, I rate his performance a 8/10. I thought it was very good. I think that he added a small bit of his own humor into it, and it turned out very nicely. He made a detestable character into a humorous mess of a man.

I LOVED the movie. My favorite AR film. I agree though. I don't usually like the whole weepy romantic thing, but I thought Alan and Juliet did a wonderful job with this film. It's a good movie just to sit and watch with a bowl of popcorn and tissues on the couch.

A HUGE thank you goes to Misty, aka Padfoot08, for her extraordinaire commitment for this Week.
blush.gif Thank you!! Thank you for your help to Clara. smile.gif

I don't think that Alec Hopkins looks anything like a young version of Snape. not what I imagined him to look like. Then again, I usually imagine the Potterpuff version. tongue.gif
Anyway, I would love to get one of those sticker things from Borders! But alas, the nearest Borders is almost a hour drive. I wonder if they have them at Waldeens bookstore, since they are a branch of Borders. hmmm...
Sabrina_Rose_Snape
I’d like to wish Alan Rickman a (late) happy birthday biggrin.gif Hope you had a good one. Now on with the questions and topics. . .

Young Severus Picture
The picture of young severus is good but the real test to see if he can be a real amazing Severus would be his voice because that's face it Alan Rickman's voice is so unique and with Alan Rickman playing Severus the young Severus he has a lot to live up to.

What would you say to Alan if you met him?
Wow!! If I meet Alan say just out and about in town I would freeze I my tracks, pull out my phone from my pocket and snap a photo without him seeing before going up to him as calm as possiable and try and engage a converstion laugh.gif biggrin.gif

Sinclair in Close My Eyes (1991)
Sorry but I've never wacthed that film so I can't rate him in it, sorry. sad.gif
