Actually I am feeling rather creative so any requests are welcom.
Also I like the idea of a fan fiction however, I am out of ideas there still as was pointed out a little earlier on the page we still have time.

Everyone could bake a cake for either Draco or Tom and post a picture of it. The more icing, the better..... Or perhaps we could write a song!
That's a really good idea,
Snapefan! A song, I like that! Just have the most ridiculous "Happy Birthday" lyrics..... ha ha, we could have fun with that!
I'm fresh out of ideas right now, anybody else have something to add to the collection of wonderful ideas for Draco's birthday?

Hello.
I have a question it kind of relates to the idea of a fan fic to celebrate Draco's birthday and is a general question about how people feel about the numerous stories that have Draco and Hermione paired up as lovers.
It has taken me a while to get in to the pairing myself.
It seems a little Mills and Boon to me you know thay hate each other then bang they are in love.
However, I have to say that A Pound Of Flesh by pennilyn novus is the best offering I have read to date and can be found here
A Pound Of FleshI just hope she finishes it soon.

I haven't read "A Pound of Flesh" but I do like Hermione and Draco paired together. I have read some really good fics and my absolute favorite is
An Unexpected Love . It's quite long, but it's soooo good!

I'm up for any type of collaborative Draco fic, however. Count me in!

Whenever I read about Draco, the first quote that pops into my mind is
"How can a bad boy sound so good?"

Well, first of all, I would like to discuss how I first fell in love with Draco. His bad boy attitude and his sneer really caught me the most in the books. I could already imagine how Draco would look in the movies. And then came the Sorcerer's Stone movie in 2001 -- I fell in love with Tom Felton almost immediately when I saw him shake hands with Harry. He was absolutely perfect for the part of Draco and just how I imagined him to be!
In the third movie everything advanced. Draco was such a bad boy -- especially Tom Felton. That sneer on his face was absolutely mesmerizing, and he looked amazingly mean. Especially when he put his bangs down starting at the 3rd movie -- it took my breath away. Then came the fourth. It was one of my favorite parts how Draco was sitting in the tree insulting Harry and then suddenly he gets turned into a ferret. Exactly how I imagined it to be!
Over all, Tom Felton is ABSOLUTELY perfect for the part of Draco Malfoy. I just LOVE his sneers and his cruel facial expression. He was meant for the part ever since!

Well, allow me to be the first to say hello to dchristen03! Welcome to DODDD, the ultimate Draco/Tom fan club! All you have to do to become a member is put a link to DODDD in your signature.
Right now, dchristen, we here at DODDD are trying to find a way to celebrate Draco's birthday, which, I might add, is in eight days. We are running out of time! So everyone, let's finalize our plan for Draco's 29th birthday!

Ooh, the birthday cake idea is cute. I also like the birthday song with crazy lyrics, and I'll send him a message on twitter from all of us. Maybe we could post a big happy birthday message on this thread and then I could include the link in the tweet. I think he might get a laugh out of it. So, here's my try at the crazy lyrics, sung to the tune of the Happy Birthday Song:
Happy Birthday to Draco
We baked you a cake-o
We hope you like it
And don't think we're psycho!
I hope it gives everyone a laugh at least!

Hello Everyone. I was wondering if we had any cake entries or anything else ready for tomorrow's Twitter message. I was planning on sending it in the wee hours of Friday morning, since I won't be home for most of the day. My grandfather is having Surgery today and if all goes well he will be released tomorrow. So, I'll be picking him up from the hospital and spending the day with him at his house where there is no internet connection.
So, any help, guidance (Sister to the Dark Lord-please help me

) would be great!

Another good thing about sending Tom the Twitter message in the wee hours of the morning is that he'll get it first thing when he wakes up; as he's six hours ahead of me. The time zones are finally working in my favor!

Hmmm I actually wasn't planning on baking a cake myself, I kind of meant for that to be for other members... Argh I would have if I knew no one was doing it, but I'm a little busy for that.
Lisa, I hope your grandfather's surgery goes well. And about the Twitter message, it's great that he'll get it when he wakes up, heehee!

Jun 4 2009, 03:43 PM
Oh, Lisa, I hope your grandfather is OK. It's always nerve-wrecking when a family member goes for surgery.
Oops, I must have confused everyone again. Sorry, my bad. It's Tom Felton's birthday that we were planning to send the Twitter on, not Draco's. Tom's birthday isn't until 22 September. It's Draco's birthday that we're worrying about right now. Sorry about that, to everyone, and especially Lisa, whom I think I confused more than most! I seem to have that effect on people..... *hangs head shamefully*
I think that I'll try my hand at a Happy Birthday song for our darling Malfoy:
Happy birthday to you.
There's nothing to do.
Except say "Thanks to you ferret,
And would you like a carrot?"
Ouch, that was bad. But random. Random's pretty cool. Go random! Haha. Looks like we're going to write Happy Birthday songs for Draco's birthday, celebrating Draco! So, everyone, let's start! It's doesn't even have to make sense or rhyme, just sing!

Congrats to the two newest members of DODDD. Welcome SnapeFan21 and dchristen03!
Well what do you say we start a new topic????Hmmmm here's a thought with the new movie coming up and all...
How will you Draco fans feel when you watch him in a totally new light in HBP? Will it sadden you about what he has been tasked to do? Or will it excite you that he has tons more screen time?
For me it's a combo of both things. I am so stoked about seeing him more on screen since PoA. It's gonna be great. But I am also saddened by the prospect of what he has been told to do by Voldy. I mean I knew he would never have had the heart to kill DD. But it's still sad that he is obviously being tormented inside for this.
Everyone talk about how they feel about this....

How will you Draco fans feel when you watch him in a totally new light in HBP? Will it sadden you about what he has been tasked to do? Or will it excite you that he has tons more screen time?Honestly, I wouldn't care if he murdered Harry. He gets more screen time! Yay! That's really the main thing here, and as long as Tom plays Draco in character, I will be satisfied with that.

And Tom Felton AKA Draco Malfoy has more screentime, I'm gonna be glued to my theature seat the
entire time!
Yes, there's my answer. Short, sweet, and to the point. Go Draco/Tom fans! We rock! (Of course, so do all the other fans of the Harry Potter series, but that's beside the point

How will you feel when you watch him in a totally new light in HBP? Will it sadden you about what he has been tasked to do? Or will it excite you that he has tons more screen time? For the most part, I will be excited that Draco/Tom will be in much more of the movie than he has been previously. I'm looking forward to the Sectum Sempra sequence and also the part when Draco crashes Slughorn's party. We
will be watching him in a new light, like you said. He'll be more mature and be facing a very difficult task and dealing with adult issues, rather than just being his usual snotty, rich boy self (which we all love

) and I'm looking forward to that too.
It think this movie makes his character so much more complex and three dimensional. And then there is also the endearing fact that he won't be able to go through with use the killing curse on Dumbledore. I can't wait to see that scene! He'll be so emotional and torn; angst ridden...fighting with himself between what he knows is right and what he knows is expected of him...*sigh*

Hey everyone sorry for the long absence. I can't believe I missed Draco's birthday!

Welcome to all new members, and congratulations to everyone who remembered to wish Draco a happy birthday. Now for the question.
How will you feel when you watch him in a totally new light in HBP? Will it sadden you about what he has been tasked to do? Or will it excite you that he has tons more screen time?I will of course be sad that he has to kill Dumbledore but he doesn't really kill him, so I guess I'll be sad but okay. Other than that, pretty much what has already been said, I'm happy that he gets more screentime, I hope Tom does a good job. I can't wait to see it. Namely, Draco. Sorry for such a short answer.

How will you feel when you watch him in a totally new light in HBP? Will it sadden you about what he has been tasked to do? Or will it excite you that he has tons more screen time?Well of course it's going to be awesome having him get more screen time. I can't wait for that! I don't really care that he's going to be evil in this movie because it's not like he wants to. He's really a kid that talking the talk and wouldn't walk the walk. But he is forced to walk the walk, and the poor guy is so stressed! We all know that he is sensitive deep down in his heart. After all he did cry and talk to Moaning Myrtle. I can't wait to see him in HBP though.
How about a nice new question...

How will you feel when you watch him in a totally new light in HBP? Will it sadden you about what he has been tasked to do? Or will it excite you that he has tons more screen time?A mixture of both. I'm very excited that he'll be getting more screen time which will make me silently sqee in my seat

but at the same time, it'll be sad knowing what Draco has to go through. I might cry when Harry uses that one spell on him (at the moment, I cannot think of it's name).
If you could choose a different path for Draco, what would his future hold?Hmmm...you know, if Draco hadn't been placed on the dark side, he would've made an awesome OotP member! He seems like he would have the determination to do almost anything

If you could choose a different path for Draco, what would his future hold? This is a great question! If I could choose a different path for Draco, I would have him realize that house elves, muggle-borns, half-bloods, and even muggles are not beneath him. I would love it if his actions reflected these new revelations and he didn't help Voldemort and the death eaters during his 6th year. He would have accepted Dumbledore's offer of protection and aided Harry and the rest in their quest to Vanquish Voldy.
Then he would fall in love with a nice, clever, spunky muggle-born gal!

Anyway, to add to the answers, I would say he would not only have gotten away from the Dark Arts, but possibly even rebelled against them because of all it has caused him in his life. He also could've gone on to be someone quite powerful. I'd love to see him as Minister of Magic!

If you could choose a different path for Draco, what would his future hold?
Well for one thing he would not have had to run off into hiding with Snape after DD was killed If Draco had chosen a different path then he would have never been tasked to do Voldy's dirty work for him, DD would have probaly survived and Draco and Harry could have been BFF's ya know? Would that not be something Draco and Harry as Besties....But Draco's destiny was already pre-destined from his childhood, so there really would have been no other way for him.

But I guess I would have to say that Draco would have joined the Order and brought peace and serenity to the Slytherin and Gryffindor Houses.

I just think it fits so well to him, he'd learn from his prejudices he had as a child, and he'd make sure that no one had any ideas to wipe out muggle-borns... Then I suppose he could marry Hermione... I'm starting to like that ship now.

First off, welcome to any and all new members. And everyone's been very loyal to Draco in answering, I feel bad for not peeking in sooner.
If you could choose a different path for Draco, what would his future hold?
A different path for Draco? That's really hard for me to picture. So far, everyone has had some very interesting ideas. I find myself sort of partially agreeing with some of your guys' answers. I've always been a mostly 'true' ship follower, but Dramione might be...daring. It would certainly be new and different. But I think that if I could choose, I wouldn't really change too much of what did happen. While as a Minister he would bring great ideas and new things to the Wizarding world, I just don't see it, not to shoot down that idea, I just don't think it'd be for him.
Also, as Alyssa(hot-for-harry) mentioned, Draco does seem like he had a sort of rebellious streak. I see that coming out, it would make for a good change, he could do so much differently. Like, not joining the Dark Lord just because of his father, like not being into the whole Pure Blood supremacy thing, and being a little less spoiled and maybe nicer to those he called "mud-bloods". I think that the whole course of the story something in Draco wanted things to be different. And maybe they could have been.
But, he wouldn't be Draco if he wasn't a Slytherin. So he would have to be a part of that house, he's the Slytherin Prince...it would be wrong for him to be in any other house. So certainly he would still be a Slytherin, just a nicer, better person.
That's what I would have changed.

The allure of our bad boy Draco being "tamed" by Hermione was too strong to ignore! That made me think of a new question:

I definately would not leave him with Pansy, she is too plastic and fake to deserve to be with Draco. He is sooo much better than her. As far as pairing him up with Hermione, probaly not, Hermione has Ron's heart and I kinda like it that way. I see Draco with someone entirely opposite of who you would think he would be with. Some random girl from possibly Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw. A wall flower type that Draco can pour his heart out to without any negative feedback or repercussions. A girl that totally understands him for who he is and does not judge him for his past actions. Draco deserves a good wholesome kind of girl that not only can he respect but get respect from. Even though Draco has a "bad boy" side I think deep down he's a real romantic

If you could pair Draco with anyone, who would it be? Would you keep him with Pansy, give him a good girl like Hermione, or choose someone else entirely?I would get him away from Pansy as fast as I could. She's no good for him. Obviously, I love the idea of Draco and Hermione, but I could also picture Draco with Luna. It may sound a little crazy, but I think she could offset his Slytherin tendencies with her straightforwardness and easygoing personality. She takes things with a grain of salt, and that would be helpful when dealing with Draco and his family. Also, she's a pure-blood, so there wouldn't be any problems there.
In any event, I wouldn't pair him with another Slytherin. He needs a bit of an opposite, when it comes to personality, to help bring out his good qualities.

Would you keep him with Pansy, give him a good girl like Hermione, or choose someone else entirely?Well, i first tought of what kind of girls would dear draco like? Draco is totally attrected by power, isn't he? And in the wonderfull world of magic, the one with the greatest power is the one who can perform the best magic. Well, it's obvious that from all girls that are around draco's age, Hermione can perform the best magic. So I would pair draco with Hermione. It has also been said that oppisites attrect eachother, and with draco being the bad boy and hermione the good girl, they are a perfect match!

I would love to see him with Hermione because they are so completely different and so totally suited to each other and it would be an amazing plot twist cause everyone was expecting the obvious Hr/R pairing. Howver, since everyone has practically said Hermione I think a second candidate could be Ginny being as though her agressive personality and practical thinking would also fit well with Draco. This is just my view and I still think Hermione would be way better than Ginny but if not Hermione I think he would be second happiest with Ginny. Plus it would help bring the Weasley famimly and the Malfoy family together...which probably is a very very bad thing but it would be interesting to read about...

I think that its time to bring up a new discussion about our favorite Slytherin guy:
How do you think Draco would have done, as far as being a leader if lets say he had been sorted into another House other than Slytherin?
For one I think that it would be weird to see Draco in any other house besides Slytherin. Remember each house has certain qualities that the students of said houses possess. But maybe if Draco had possessed certain qualities of lets say Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw he could have had a small chance of being placed in one of those.
If this had happened I thinka lot of transitioning would have had to take place for our fave Slytherin in order for him to fit in with other houses. I do feel that his leadership status would not have been "sealed" as easily if he was in any of the other three. The students of the houses would not have been as willing to follow his leadership abilities as the ones in Slytherin were. Other students would have surely questioned his motives and wanted to know what the overall end result would be in this case.
So what does everyone else think about this?

How do you think Draco would have done, as far as being a leader if lets say he had been sorted into another House other than Slytherin?
That's a great question and one I've never even considered. I just took for granted that Draco could never be anything but a Slytherin!
I don't think he would have done too well as a leader in either Gryffindor or Ravenclaw. The Gryffindor's have strong personalities, for the most part, and don't usually follow a leader (with the possible exception of Harry). The Ravenclaw's strike me as being too clever to follow someone just because of their social status. They would question Draco and if his answers as to why they should follow him weren't up to par, then they wouldn't give his leadership qualities another thought. I think Draco might have been able to persuade some of the Hufflepuffs to let him be their leader. They are described as being patient, loyal and unafraid of toil, so they might have let him be a sort of leader just to placate him.
I see Slytherin as the only house where Draco could truly rule the roost, as the Slytherin's cared about ends and not the means to those ends. They would follow Draco because of his social status and what they could gain from being his friend.

How do you think Draco would have done, as far as being a leader if lets say he had been sorted into another House other than Slytherin?Well, like Lisa said, the Ravenclaws probably would have been too clever to let Draco manipulate them like he did the Slytherins. Hufflepuffs he probably would be able to convince one or two, but they are smarter than people (in the books, anyway) give them credit for!
As for Gryffindor, I do believe that he could act as a leader there, because first of all, Draco'd be a Gryffindor too, meaning the other lions would trust him for that, and second, there are some Gryffindors that desparately need someone to lead them. (Read: Peter Pettigrew, Lavender Brown, Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, etc). He'd just have to be a bit more sly on hiding what exactly he was getting his followers to do.
Cheers,
Ty

PS: Speaking of Peter Pettigrew, I have a question when you've tired out the others -
What do you think Draco saw in Peter? Did Draco actually get along with the Animagus, or did he feel the undercurrent of traitor ratiating off the man?

I don't think they came into contact with each other much. After all Draco and his family had been through, it seems to me that he wouldn't talk to any of the deatheaters much, let alone Peter who was probably looked down upon by many. And who would even want to go near Peter? I mean he looked horrid, and probably had this awful aura to him. I expect Draco was probably quiet at home during his 7th year instead of being the cocky Slytherin that we've always seen him as.

I would say that Draco like so many others before him could see Pettigrew for what he was, a low life, lying, backstabbing skeazebag. And I seriously do not think that Draco would have given Pettigrew the time of day, other than to maybe bark orders at him to get something or to leave the room. But with the way Pettigrew was he probaly tried sucking up to Draco only to have "talk to the hand" thrown up in his face.

I think that Draco seen nothing but a dirty disgusting person who was a traitor who pretended to be Ron Weasley's rat. I think that right there would have disgusted him that he lived with the weasley's for 12 years and was in the presence of a "mudblood." I dont think Draco got along very well with him. He May have acted like he could tolerate him in front of the Dark Lord but other then that he thought peter was dirt.

I'm sure he tolerated him since Peter was a fellow death eater, but I'm sure Draco thought he was lower than a house elf and not worthy of his attention. It probably annoyed Draco that he had to come in contact with Pettigrew at all.
