A kid asked JKR if snape would fall in love, and she said yes.
then the rumour came that he would leave hogwarts.
question is: who is his crush?
(i don't i this topic has been made earlier...)

Mmm....well....I kind fo have my own theory about that.....
I think that Snape was very capable of love at one time....but there's no feeling in the world that can undergo such a shattering metamorphosis when something goes wrong......it turns people into...well....the type of person Snape is now.
I latched onto Snape's possible motivations for why he is the way he is a while back and that's what I centred my fanfic around....
The link's in my sig, if you're interested....

I think it would be pretty cool if it was someone away from Hagwarts that we already know, so that it'll be kind of a shock when/if we find out.

It would be nice if snape found someone. I have always felt kind of sorry for him. If he does, it would probably be someone new. I cant really think of someone already in the series that he would fall in love with. Maybe Professor Trelawny

I think maybe Snape was in love at one point and he got his heart broken either by a break-up or a death. This could've made him even more bitter than he already was from being made fun of at school. He's probably given up.
JKR never really does mention Snape's past love much. That makes me think of the lives of the other teachers. . .
kalondo
Oct 16 2004, 07:16 PM
Did JKR really say he is going to fall in love? That doesn't... sound... right. Not very Rowling-ish. I've wished it for a long time, but it seems too good to be true. I think it's much more probable that he's going to betray Dumbledore, return to Dumbledore, and then die fighting Voldemort. Sort of exaggerated Boromir-like. *cries*
Still... if she really did say that. (think, think) Tonks maybe? lol. I can't imagine him not despising both Tonks and Trelawney, and McGonagall is older than him by at least 15 years, isn't she? Madam Hooch is a possibility, I suppose. Still, if he's in the LEAST romantically inclined, he does an excellent job of concealing it.

JKR did say something about the teachers' spouses.....but she was very reticent about the details. That made me think that there's backstory there that she doesn't want to give away just yet. That could be Snape, you know...I mean, there has to be a reason why he is the way he is, doesn't there? Maybe his wife was killed by Voldemort or something....
Why didn't he attend the Yule ball itself? Why was he so nasty about getting the couple out of the bushes? Seems a pretty mean thing to do on a Christmas time....but then Christmas brings out the worst in some people....because it's a family time, you know?
Mmm....

Dang you, dansgurl! Dashing away my hopes like that... ;) I don't think it's likely he ever had or will have a "love", but. That's sucky. So I kind of want to pretend there's a hope for it; it makes me feel better. ehe.

Ah, dansgurl, I'm not mad. Not that it would matter if I were anyway. Who is that belligerent?
I find it a little hard to imagine Snape in love, actually. He's so... uhm... closed. But Dana_Scully may have a really good point, I suppose. Sometimes people who get hurt do respond by not putting themselves in that sort of danger again- they stop loving- and I know someone like that. It's taken him a long time to get to where he can even say something very kind.
Snape needs a counselor.

SPOILERS
After reading book 6 I actually got the feeling that snape is in love with narcissa. I really can't write here any arguments down for this theory but I really just have a feeling. I mean normally snape would have been so disgusted by a crying woman, I think he would have made a mean comment about it (look at how he treats Hermione when she's upset), but with narcissa he's actually kind of nice and makes the unbreakable vow, etc.
what do you think about this?
Snapelover
Jul 26 2005, 08:56 PM
I don't think Snape will fall in love. Jo said he had BEEN loved before. But...if I ma wrong, could sonmeone provide a quote as to when Jo said this?!? I would really like to know. It sounds so, not Snapish. But hey...it wasn't like Snape to get on the floor and hld Narcissa'a hand and make a vow to her either. Hmmmmm my imagination just went off.

I think Snape loved Lily because he was always so mad at James.Maybe he wasnt mad at him but he was jealous. And thats y he is always so mad at Harry because James was his dad. Although thats just my theory......

Well I hope to god he isn't in love with Nicarssa(however you spell it). I kinda like the idea of him possibly falling in love with Minerva

. But then again, I doubt that'd ever happen.....especially after what happened in the HBP. Nicarssa's Lucius's wife isn't she?...and as for him making the unbreakable vow with her....I don't think he made the vow with her because he loved her or anything...I think he was probably more or less afraid of what would happen if he didn't. They'd probably be pretty suspicious about why if he had chosen not to, and possibly would have even reported him it to Voldemort, then he would have probably been in a bit of trouble there. I mean, he works in the school, he would really have no excuse not to kill Dumbledore if Draco gets into trouble and couldn't, so, i think that's why he made the vow. I would seriously like it if he fell in love with Minerva though, that'd be cute.

Just my opinion.
laudine
Jul 27 2005, 11:14 AM
but he didn't had to make the vow because as bellatrix said it was against voldys orders, so what if he likes/loves narcissa and doesn't really know yet. Because snape's really kind of not such a freindly person and doesn't get these things. and who knows maybe the marriage between lucius and narcissa isn't that happy...but I'm getting way of track here!

Err ... you forgot to put one other option on your poll ...
Who will Snape fall in love with?
Snape. Although it's probably not acurate to say
will fall in love with, cos I think he's been there for quite some time.
*ducking from my fellow mods*
Actually, I'm only kidding, I just thought of it while I was reading this thread, and I am really quite fond of Snape cos I think he is going to proove to be a good guy
I have a gut feeling that Snape has already been in love ... and it didn't work out too well which is why he is where he is today.
If Snape does turn out to be good, I hope he ends up in love with any of the above choices. (except my little add in)

I'm still on Narcissa. Wouldn't it be great: snape falls in love with narcissa, she divorces mean-guy lucius and snape will be a good father to draco and draco will turn good and not be a death-eater after all...and they lived happily ever after.
Crazy thought, uh?

I WANT Severus to find love, but there's noone in the current characters that I want him to find love WITH. Bellatrix is evil. I like Snape and I'm determined to believe that he is still on the side of good so I don't want him with her. Narcissa is a little better and maybe all of her 'snottiness' is from being married to Lucius, but if it's not, then I don't want her with him either. Hermione is out the question.
So I'm voting for someone that we don't know yet. But I don't think that will happen because I think it's a little late to bring in a new character of such importance.
Unless it is someone that Snape has already fallen in love with, because then it only needs to be in mere reference.

I think it would be a sort of interesting twist if he's in love with "Miss Granger", probably because she is brilliant and capable and because of her mudblood origins, age and the whole student/teacher line being crossed probably won't materialize and will probably be like an after the fact thing, like 10 years later... or my second guess is that he loved Lily and the whole unrequited love thing. Thirdly, (that sounds weird) the Narcissa makes sense because usually I would invision Snape being repulsed by a crying woman and his behavior towards her especially contrasts to how he treats Bellatrix in the opening scene. Cool twist if Malfoy was his son.

I really think that Snape was in love with Lily. We've been mulling this over in the Snape/ Lily "ships" section. Unrequited love... it could make you into the person he is-- to cover vunerability, the nastiness to James and thus Harry. BUT-there is definately some Lily in Harry. JKR always has people say that Harry's eyes are like Lily's. Anyone know of any references where Snape has a hard time holding a gaze with Harry? Seeing Lily's eyes on Harry? looks like I'm going to have to read all 6 of the books through again.
Snape always goads Harry by putting down his father but never his mother. hum....

In GOF, Snape was found kissing Florence by Bertha Jorkins. We don't know her last name or who this girl turns out to be. Is she among those murdered by Voldemort to create horcruxes?

I don't think it refers to Snape kissing Florence. If I remember correctly and I can't find my book at the moment- it says that Bertha appeared or spoke or something like Snape had done and said that "HE put a hex on me" because she'd been teasing him about kissing Florence.
I don't think it refers to Snape. However Sirius says that Bertha was a few years older then him, which means that she'd also be older than Severus and might not have bothered following him. But I don't think she specifically refers to Snape kissing anyone.

The Lily idea has a lot of merit. He might have really connected to her in potions, considering how good both Snape and Lily were in potions class. I also think that Dumbledore and Snape had another professey about the future and maybe Snape was told by Dumbledore to kill him. Snape would be closer to Voldemort than ever and would have a chance to set him up for Harry to finally kill him. I still think that Dumbledore was completely right about Snape.

- simply, I think that he won't fall in love again because he'd already fallen in love once and he isn't in love now. But if he was, I'd say Narcissa Malfoy.

i was always sure that snape loved lilly, i dont know why, but i think that when she stuck up for him he fell into a kind of embarresed love, and then when she and james were together, that was why snape hated james so much,
and if rowling says that snape will fall in love again, i am sure it will be with Narcissa Malfoy, wouldnt that be great, for lucies to come out of azcaban and find snape with his wife-lol serves him right.

i suppose bellatrix has a chance, but im just not feelin it.
well i dont know..what do ya think

Hmn... I dont think its a question of who Snape
will fall in love with, but more of a a 'Who
did Snape fall in love with.... Or possibly who was in love with Snape?
While I'm crossing my fingers for a justified killling off of Dumbledore, I'm pretty sure that Snape is in no shape to fall in love.
My guess is a thing for Lily. There have been multiple moments in the books that I've sensed his hate included a "you are a constant reminder that James was Lily's husband."
They were both supposed to be amazing at potions. If HBP was any clue to their relationship, I guess that was the purpose of introducing the Slug Club to us. Snape and Lily probably formed a mutual respect/friendship for each other there.

I think Snape was always in love with Lily Potter. I know he called her a "Mudblood" on more than one occasion but still, she did after all see beyond a persons personality and who they were. She could see the beauty in even the most mean people, like Snape. I think he really does and will always love Lily Potter. Also, thats another reason why Snape hates James Potter, because James won Lily over. But I don't think that Snape would actually ever admit to anyone that he loved Lily. It would be embaressing for him. Very embaressing indeed.

Just my own opinion, but I think he was definetly in love with Lily and that's why he picks on Harry. Also, when he confessed to DD he told Voldy about the prophecy and was sorry he sent them after people he knew, he was really sorry he sent him after Lily. cause he was in deep, deep lurve with her. (sigh) But James beat him to the lady.

ha ha ha... somehow I cannot picture Severus falling in love with anyone.
If anything, I'd like to see him finally learning to love himself (=accept himself), and becoming capable of giving love to others. What he does now, he does out of obligation and dedication to his beliefs... not out of love.
