They may not make it 3 hrs because of younger kids. But from what I saw at the midnight show of GoF, the youngest was like 17 - 18. But i feelt the same, it should be 3 hrs.

It may not be just the age of the audience, but the age of the actors themselves. That's why there isn't much extra footage (deleted scenes) on the special DVDs either. The actors themselves have been so young that most are subject to child-labor laws. The time they can work each day is so small that they just can't spend a lot of extra time doing extra scenes, so I'm thinking that might extend to why the movies aren't as long as they could be.

I am not sure what the laws are in Britain, but in the States, a child actor can't work more than three hours a day. So maybe for Dan, who works all the time since he's in almost every scene, if they wanted to make the film three hours long, it would require several months of three-hour days with him to get that extra half-hour.

By the time they film HBP, I think the only principle young actors they have who will still be underage might be Emma Watson and Matthew Lewis, so maybe at that point they can make a longer film. Wouldn't that be cool!

yes! i hope that OotP would be long too though.. its my favorite. so many new ideas and things get discovered in this book. in my opinion, they can cut things shorter, i just hope they dont cut too many things right out. also, with the HBP, i hope they would make a longer film so that they could go into extreme detail about voldemort's past and all. that would make me sooo happy and set the seventh film up really well. who knows if it'll happen though...

Wow really??? Child actors can only work 3 hours? Thats interesting. I didnt know that. If that is the case, then it must take forever to make a movie with child actors. Espeically if they mess up many times.

Why do they have to spend much time on the plot of OotP? What is the plot, anyway? Isn't almost the whole book, everything about Umbridge at least, a sub-plot compared to resolving the mjor issue of the conflict with Voldemort?

They would do better to get all of the humor they can onto the screen, and give just enough of the plot to get to the ending.

ct] For the fifth film i reckon they are gunna cut the bits that arent as important such as the "advanced guard" bit I hope they dont cut out the shrieking portrait, they might cut some of the dreams as harry has the "corridor dream" like every night they might cut it down so he has it maybey once or twice. Whatver they cut it will be a good film because it has a tromendous plot behind it

i don't think that the advance guard will be cut. for me, it has an importance. though we don't have the same opinion. but, i still think that they won't cut it.

Hmm.. . . well, we know that Duddly Demented will be in the film, as we've seen pictures of Harry with Duddly, and frankly I'll be slightly surprised if they don't cut straight from Harry battling the dementors to the Department of Mysteries scene at the end of the book as these are the most action packed scenes.

I doubt they'll make too big a production of getting Harry to Grimmauld Place, however. They might have a bunch of people come to get him, but probably won't waste alot of time introducing them and getting to Grimmauld Place. After that they're probably be a scene of Sirius explaining to Harry what V's been up to, then they'll go to school. Won't wanna waste a bunch of time on cleaning and such.

At school they'll introduce Umbridge, naturally, and I'm sure Harry will get a detention with her, as the "I will not tell lies" scar comes into play later in the series, and it shows how evil she is. They'll probably cut the Quibbler interview, but Harry will no doubt talk to Luna as she appears in the movie. They'll have the creation of the DA around here, but I think it'll go to the Quidditch scene where Harry and the twins get the boot next.

There will be the DA meeting when Harry kisses Cho, followed immediately by Mr. Weasley getting attacked, and Christmas on the Closed Ward. Return to school, the final match of the Quidditch season, during which Grawp will be introduced (since we know he's in the film) and Ron winning the Quidditch Cup.

Then will come the DA meeting where they get caught, and Dumbledore's flight. (once again, they won't want to cut such an action packed scene.) If they include the Weasley's escape (and I hope they do) it would probably go here, and show a bit of the mayhem they cause, perhaps setting off the fireworks as they flee.

Or, they may cut that entirely and go straight to Harry and Co. being held by Umbridge and entering the forest. They may cut the centaurs entirely and just have Grawp chase her away, as it would cut down on CG costs. Then they go to the ministry, and pretty much everything should be included from their out, except perhaps some of the rooms they see, like the brain room, or the time room. They'll definately have the Death room, as that is where Sirius snuffs it, and they Hall of Prophecy, as that's the whole point. But I think it safe to say the planet room will be cut, as it didn't even make the book except as a description.

In the end Dumbledore will explain the Prophecy, and Harry will return to the Dursleys.

I think they should be able to squeeze all that into a 2.5 hour movie, and if they include these elements it will still capture all the major plot points, and all the good action and comedy sequences.

I think it would take two, even three movies to fit in all the stuff that tiger_lover mentioned, however.

Also, I think that child actor law only refers to very young children. I know its perfectly legal for 16 year old kids to have full time jobs, I don't see why acting would be any different. Also, I think parents could give permission for a child to work longer.

With regard to the cleaning scene at Grimmauld Place. Do you not think that if the necklace in the cabinet is the 'one', they may just leave a small little bit of the cleaning in so that when it comes to the filmimg of book 7, the necklaces hiding place can be explained?

One can always hope that if they feel the movie is too long that they make a LOTR release...meaning that they release an extended cut on DVD. As far as I am concerned that would be a good solution

Well, they are awful!If they are gonna cut discussions about many subplots of the trio, Firenze, Quidditch Matches and plot, McGonagall arguing with Umbridge, DA meetings, descriptions about OoTP...they will be just A-W-F-U-L.

I've heard that quidditch isnt in the OotP so that means we miss everything about ron triouts and i think even Wealsy is our king!!

i think that the film will be on for about 3 hours realy becasue theres so much in the book isnt there i dont think that theyll cut too much out hopefully i dont think we will see the bit were hedwigs hurt thats not realy important and i think a bit of the owls test will be taken out and i cant remember anything elts im still reading the book for the 4 time im onto the bit were harry goes to the hearing but i can still vagely remember bits of it.

I hope that they don't cut Quiddich out. I mean I have heard rumors about it, but I hope their not true. I feel that some Quiddich is a little necessary in the movie.



What about when Harry, Fred and Geroge get banned from playing Quiddich because of Umbridge? If the scene where in the movie it would show a lot about Umbridge, her personality, her feelings toward Harry and mainley it shows how Umbridge and the Ministry are taking over the school. That scene would show a lot!! How could they cut out Quiddich. Also this scene leads up to Fred and Georges ecape. I know the fact that they left Hogwarts early isn't that big of a deal, but wouldn't it show how the students feel about Umbridge? I think if Quiddich where cut out the film would be missing something.

Yes, the movie can go on without it, and possibly be the best movie out of all the Harry Potter movies, but I feel that that little Quiddich is necessary.

ok so i think the harry and seamos fight will be cut, also NO QUIDDTACH it has already been confirmed that they wont have it. they will hav a bit of cleaning at the grimmauld place. tonks will hav her intro. they wont show the flight to grimauld place. the inquistal squad is confirmed. fred and georges escape is confirmed. along with umbridges detention is confermed. and a bunch other but i cant remember

oh i forget they also confirmed that treawenly being sacked and the cenaturs running over umbridge and a visit to saint mungos is confirmed

the one scene i wanted to see and it wont be there. the whole fight that gets them banned from quidditch. Grawp will be there his character is billed. and i thought i saw something with ms thompson and that they are doing that scene. in all honestly i dont see why they have to keep it to 2 1/2hs. the last LotR film was 3 1/2 hs. so why not harry? there were tons of little kids sitting in the theatre foro LotR. i would definetly sit through a 3 1/2 movie just to see some of my favorite parts of the books.

They better not cut out the scene with neville and his parents. I like need that scene to be there. it is sooo sad!!!!

It's really annoying because it's been confirmed that there is definitely no Quidditch in the movie... that means no Ron playing keeper for Gryffindor! I think they might imply that Quidditch is still going on rather than actually seeing them playing it, maybe just showing the teams walking down to the pitch but not actually playing... I don't really know. I think quite a lot of the important stuff is still in there though. I don't think they'll have any of the Harry and Cho in Hogsmeade stuff, although I can imagine exactly how it would look, I have that whole scene planned out in my head!

All right, so maybe I'm a tad ignorant when I say...what about movie 4?? I mean, they left out SPEW, which becomes important in book 5 when Kreacher gets Sirius killed because no one respects him. Not to mention the fact that Rita Skeeter is an Animagus. How is Hermione going to blackmail her into interviewing Harry if they don't find out she can turn into a beetle?

Ok.. maybe they will just cut Kreacher too.. He just psched harry to go to the ministry and produces Sirius's death, no big deal right?? OMG!! I mean, this is far to exagerated.. I mean, ok, cut cause is a looong book and a lot of action and it would be impossible to put all the thing, but COME ON!! Why don't they just cut the fight at the ministry and the scene in DD's office and everything would just be perfect !! Ok.. I need to calm down.. So, ok, they cut up the Dobby thing, let's say acceptable. Knight bus, boggart and Lucius malfoy also seems pretty well.. But harry's interview in The Quibbler??? Or detention with Dolores? Let's not say about Quidditch... They coud just do a 3 1/2 hr movie.. There were 3 1/2 hr movies before and nobody died in the cinema...

I believe that Grimmuald Place must be in the movie to introduce Kretcher. Why? I believe that Kretcher has a very important part in the seventh book (hint: R.A.B.'s letter - think about it...)

I haven't been keeping up with the latest confirmations on movie 5. Wow, they are cutting Rita Skeeter's interview. I can understand why, but I don't like it. I am shocked that there will be no Quidditch. I did not expect much in the way of matches, but now we will probably never see Ron in his Quidditch glory or misery.

They have certainly cut a lot of plot, much the main theme is still there (as the main theme was preserved in Goblet). This movie will be much different than the book. It will be a miracle if everything can stay coherent (and not lose anything necessary for later books).

Mainly what's cut are unimportant, non-crucial scenes. Yes, Kreacher will be in the movie. That has been confirmed. If you think about it, OOP had a lot of filler that could be left out. I think that the cuts will be less noticable than they were in Goblet because of that. Leaving out Dobby and Weasley is our King -- BIG DEAL! its not like our lives depend on those scenes.

They will probably cut it to ribbons, just like they did with GOF. I don't understand, if the LOTR movies could be over 3 hours each, why can't the Potter movies ?

well if you cut lord of the rings into three movies, or in its case, books, the different parts would be a lot shorter than Order of the Phoenix. Plus even lord of the rings had to cut some parts like Tom Bombadil or the Battle of Bywater. Goblet of Fire was actually a pretty good movie, but a little rushed together, i think.

I hope they keep most of it, sad they cut out Dobby, but what you gotta do is what you gotta do, must be hard for the director.

But, I learnt that they filmed the VERY LAST scene of the film and it is:Harry, Ron and Hermie in Hogsmeade's train station discussing and getting into Hogwarts Express and the train is getting into the huge forest...Eh?
They've cut out Dursleys and Order on the station, that's a bit annoying and i'm sad... But, it's a very good ending, somekind of melancholy and nostalgia in it...Hope it's good though...and very stirring.

There definately won't be any Dobby scenes and I also heard that they are cutting out Quidditch scenes all together as well. I was disheartened to hear about Quidditch being cut, because it is in the first Quidditch game in the book that Draco gets beat up by Fred, George and Harry. I hope that they will still keep a scene along those lines in the movie. I also read that because the book is so long that they have to cut so much for the movie if not the movies would be like 6 hours long!

They are going to have to cut loads and it sucks!

I think they need to build on Sirius' character so that the people who have not read the books understand how important he is, that just hasn't been captured yet but I do think Grimmauld place will bearly feature. I think it may be the venue for the beginning of the film but won't feature too heavily after that.
Quidditch will probably be cut and maybe a lot of the lessons, OWLS probably won't feature and I don;t think there will be any house elves

I think that the movie, like all the others will be around 2 1/2 hours long.

Will they split it into two movies?
I highly doubt it, but you never know.

What will be left out?
I think that lots of stuff is going to be left out like in the fourth movie, which is a disappoitment.

Will some characters be forgotten?
It's a possibility, since they left the whole house elf thing out of movie 4, which I think was highly stupid, who's going to help Harry out now about the DA and stuff..I suppose that they still could re-introduce Dobby though..anyways im getiing off topic lol

How will the death of Sirius be dealt with?
I think that they will still make Sirius die, by falling through the veil, it makes sense to me.

My final though is that alot will be cut, and it will be highly disappointing. : (

I'm just wondering about something I've just read on the main site... In an interview, Helena Bonham Carter has said that she's been spending some time filming Azkaban scenes. Mmm, I thinks to myself...there aren't any in OotP - other than the escape being mentioned in passing. So why have they added these scenes in? And what have they bumped in order to make room for them?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining exactly...I mean, I'm quite pleased they're showing Azkaban and I actually think this might be a pretty good addition...but if they've bumped Grimmauld Place or Sirius, Lupin or Snape time to make room for it, I'm going to be pretty peeved.

I have to admit though, I'm actually feeling a bit of anticipation over this trailer... I get sucked in by hype every time...*sigh*

All I know is that the Woes of Mrs. Weasley is getting cut out and the Dobby scenes! Which really sucks because I really wanted to see the boggart thing with Mrs. Weasley! It was so emotional!

Oh, [Louise I think the Azkaban scenes, are the ones that should be shown in the papers and on the window shops. You know that in OotP they will be in the papers and in Hogsmeade, and as we know, wizard papers are animated... So maybe thats what the scenes were for..
